18 Actors Who Love to ROCK Out

We're surprised too! It turns out that some of our favorite actors are also pretty talented musicians (okay, some more than others). These 18 actors are either currently a member of a band or they've been a member of one in the past. See which actors really love to rock it out below! 1. Juliette Lewis Though Juliette Lewis is probably best known for her roles in films like What’s Eating Gilbert Grape and Natural Born Killers, she was also the lead singer of her rock band, Juliette and the Licks, which was formed in 2003. 2. Jared Leto We all remember Jared Leto as Jordan Catalno from My So Called Life. But when is isn’t acting, Leto is the lead singer of his band, 30 Seconds to Mars, which has been active since the late 90s. 3. Bruce Willis Yep. Bruce Willis is even cooler than you thought he was. When he isn’t busy acting, he’s singing with his band, Bruce Willis and The Accelorators. 4. Adam Brody Adam Brody’s character played in a band on Gilmore Girls before he headed over to The O.C. Turns out, in real life, he’s a drummer in the indie rock band Big Japan. 5. Dennis Quaid and the Sharks Dennis Quaid is one talented guy. Besides being an incredible actor, he’s also a pretty talented musician. Check out his vocals in his band, Dennis Quaid and the Sharks. 6. Jada Pinkett Smith Jada Pinkett Smith is already part of a musical family, but what you may not have known is that when she rocks out, she REALLY rocks it out. Her metal band, Wicked Wisdom, was formed in 2002. View Slideshow

‘To Be the Best’: Val Kilmer Takes a Bullet for Tenacious D

So this is what Val Kilmer and his luscious locks were doing hanging with Kyle Gass and Jack Black , AKA Tenacious D . In the newly released video ‘To Be the Best,’ Black and Gass find their fates have gone in different directions following the failure of their film Tenacious D: In the Pick of Destiny and only Kilmer, Dave Grohl, and Josh Groban can help mental patient Gass and “Hollywood Jack” reunite (for their new album, in stores May 15). Also on hand? Tim Robbins . Why not? The forthcoming Tenacious D album is entitled “Rize of the Fenix” and the lead single, ” Rize of the Fenix ,” starts out a little something like this: “When The Pick of Destiny was released it was a bomb/And all the critics said that The D was done…but one thing no one thought about was The D will rize again, just like the fenix…” So, yeah. Box office failure inspires creative rebirth! Or something. Let’s watch Kilmer eat it for Jack Black again. [via Cinemablend ]

Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson Mine Mid-Life Crises For Comedy in The Big Year Trailer

“We just need a little adventure. A big year to do everything we never could,” explain the trio of lead characters in the trailer for David Frankel’s The Big Year . Because 365 days worth of adventure-seeking and ticking off bucket-list items will surely drive the crises right out of Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson. And at the very least, that “big year” will give the comedic actors a reason to goof around on skis, forge meaningful bonds and, most likely, realize that the cure to their middle-aged woes have been in plain view the entire time. Or am I missing the plot entirely?

9 Lessons Learned From the Beastie Boys’ Fight For Your Right: Revisited Film

Last night, the Beastie Boys debuted their 20-minute short, Fight For Your Right: Revisited for the masses on VH1 (the film screened earlier in the year at Sundance). In it, the Beastie Boys of old (Seth Rogen as Mike D, Elijah Wood as Ad-Rock and Danny McBride as MCA ) cracked wise to concerned parents and caused chaos in fine French restaurants. That was all before they scored acid off of a punk-haired Chloe Sevigny and watched as their future selves (played by John C. Reilly, Will Ferrell and Jack Black, respectively) pulled up in a DeLorean with a dance mat tied to the roof. New Beastie Boys dance battled old Beastie Boys and then the real Beastie Boys showed up as police officers to arrest the miscreants. Now let’s forget that flimsy plot and get down to the hard lessons taught in this music video.
