TJ Jackson Named Guardian of Michael’s Kids; Katherine Jackson on Way to California

In this edition of How The Jackson World Turns… TJ Jackson, the nephew of Michael Jackson, has been named by a court as the temporary guardian of MJ’s three kids, Paris, Prince and Blanket. The legal maneuver was necessary because Katherine Jackson – who has served in this capacity for the past three years – has been out of contact with the children for over 10 days now, since a few of her kids took her away to Arizona. “This is not a power play by TJ Jackson,” L.A. Superior Court Judge Mitchell L. Beckloff said at an emergency hearing. “This is based on the allegation that Katherine Jackson is being prevented from acting as guardian.” Katherine’s attorney was also present and said there’s “reason to believe” her client is “being held against her will.” But that is supposedly changing now, as Randy Jackson appeared today on Good Morning America and said his mother is on her way back to California. It appears as though Randy’s scheme – to convince his mom to challenge the authenticity of Michael’s will because he’s upset it does not name him or any siblings as benefactors – has fallen apart and he is being forced to cave in to public pressure. Last night, Marlon Jackson broke down during an interview, pleading to learn the whereabouts of his mother.

The Jackson Family Drama Reaches It’s Peak! Paris Gets Slappy Happy With Auntie Janet, Jermaine Punched In The Mouth And Randy Put In A Headlock!

An all out war at the Jackson family home.. Chaos In The Jackson Household Reaches It’s Peak As the drama heats up in the Jackson household, big cousin TJ, who was recently revealed as Kim Kardashian’s first love , (Tito’s son) wants to step in and come to the rescue of his three little cousins that are caught in the middle of it all. via TMZ It was all out war at Katherine Jackson’s house in Calabasas Monday … complete with slapping and punching … TMZ has learned. We now have details about the incident. Sources who were there say two SUVs with Randy, Jermaine and Janet inside, followed a car driving Michael Jackson’s 3 kids inside the gates. We’re told Randy, Jermaine and Janet did not have authority to enter. Once on the grounds, we’re told MJ’s 3 siblings tried to strong-arm Paris, Prince and Blanket. Their mission was to get them in an SUV and take them to Arizona, where Katherine has been staying. Our sources say at one point Janet tried to grab a resistant Paris’ cell phone, a scuffle ensued and Janet slapped the teenager, screaming, “You’re a spoiled little bitch!” We’re told Paris fired back with her own slap and told Janet, “This is our house. Not the Jackson family house. Get the f**k out!” At the same time, we’re told Trent Jackson, who was at the house, tried to stop an aggressive Randy and Jermaine. We’re told Trent put Randy in a headlock and punched Jermaine in the mouth. Tito Joe Jackson, aka TJ, the 34-year-old son of Michael Jackson’s brother Tito, is having his lawyer draft legal docs in a bid to become temporary guardian of MJ’s 3 kids … TMZ has learned. People familiar with the situation tell TMZ … Paris, Prince and Blanket all want TJ to be their guardian because they believe Katherine — their current guardian — has effectively been kidnapped by MJ’s siblings. The kids haven’t seen Katherine in 9 days. Under California law, a judge would not grant a temporary guardian for teenagers unless the kids were on board with the selection, and we’re told all 3 kids are down with it. We’re told TJ has often acted like a parent to the kids and they love him. Talk about a family feud! It sounds like the best place for MJ’s kids just might be with cousin TJ.  Then maybe those poor thangs will have some stability for the first time since their father passed away . Images via Wenn

WATCH: Peter Jackson’s Hobbit Video Reveals Over Ten Minutes of Behind the Scenes Footage

Hobbit director Peter Jackson is nothing if not a man of the people, so when he took to San Diego’s Comic-Con earlier this month to present footage to 6,000+ lucky fans shortly after wrapping, he recorded a video diary to share with the rest of the Lord of the Rings faithful. Watch as Jackson navigates the perils of press junkets and Hall H’s screaming fans, filming on his trusty iPhone along the way! Or, y’know… skip ahead a few minutes to fantastic 10+ minutes of behind-the-scenes peeks from the set of The Hobbit . The set footage is the real treat for fans hungry for Hobbit peeks, but you’ve got to also hand it to Jackson and his videography crew for interviewing just about everybody involved in production, down to the freaking key grip. And yet, my favorite part? Mark Hadlow in costume as the Dwarf Dori, quoting Anchorman . Runner-up line of the vid: “I’ve never worked on such a hairy movie.” The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey hits theaters December 14, with its conclusion, There and Back Again , following in 2013. The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, and 48 FPS: More Tolkien In Store for Peter Jackson?

After bringing 12 minutes of The Hobbit to Comic-Con — where Peter Jackson purposefully did not present footage in the 48 frames per second/3-D presentation that perplexed audiences at CinemaCon — the Lord of the Rings filmmaker spoke further about his desire to explore even more ground in the fantasy universe created by J.R.R. Tolkien. One possibility may be a third Hobbit film culled from Tolkien’s expansive LOTR notes and appendices, though Jackson admitted that the author’s posthumously published Silmarillion might present more of a challenge. Familiar faces filled the screen in the Hobbit preview, which gave Comic-Con fans glimpses of Cate Blanchett’s Galadriel, Ian McKellan’s Gandalf, Orlando Bloom’s Legolas, and new cast member Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins in the two-parter, which will hit screens in December 2012 and 2013. Speaking with press, Jackson acknowledged his choice to present the footage in 2-D rather than the 48 fps that earned mixed-to-negative buzz at CinemaCon. “We have to try to figure out ways to make this cinematic experience much more spectacular, more immersive,” he said. “But you know, Hall H isn’t the place to do it.” Neither is showing just ten minutes of footage in 48 fps an adequate way to introduce the format to thousands of uninitiated fans who may not even be used to big screen 3-D, he insisted. CinemaCon seems to have also taught Jackson not to let 48 fps overshadow the actual film at hand. “I didn’t want to repeat the CinemaCon experience where literally people see this reel and all they write about is 48 frames a second. That doesn’t do us any good. It doesn’t do 48 fps any good. To accurately judge that, you really need to sit down and watch the entire film.” Meanwhile, Jackson and collaborators Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh are in the early stages of looking at a potential third Hobbit film based on the vast 125-page appendices in Tolkien’s Return of the King , some of which was used to flesh out The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again . “Philippa and Fran and I have been talking to the studio about the other things we haven’t been able to shoot and seeing if we can possibly persuade them to do a few more weeks of shooting — possibly more than a few weeks, actually — a bit of additional shooting next year,” Jackson said. “There are other parts of the story that we’d like to tell that we haven’t had the chance to tell yet.” Jackson looked to the additional Tolkien notes to fill in certain character backstories and events missing from the primary texts. “For instance, in The Hobbit where Gandalf mysteriously disappears for chapters on end and it’s not really explained in any detail where he’s gone, much later Tolkien fleshed those out in these appendices,” he explained. “It was altogether a lot more dark and more serious than what was written in The Hobbit . And I do want to make a series of movies that run together so if any crazy lunatic wants to watch them all together in a row, there will be a consistency of tone.” A completist’s cinematic tour of the LOTR world might include Tolkien’s Silmarillion , a collection of universe-building mythology edited and posthumously published by Tolkien’s son Christopher in 1977. The problem, Jackson says, is in who controls the rights to the work. “ The Silmarillion is the big volume, but that’s owned by the Tolkien estate,” he said. “It’s not owned by Warner Bros. or MGM — and I don’t think the Tolkien estate are very fond of these movies, so I wouldn’t expect to see The Silmarillion any time soon.” Read more from Comic-Con 2012 here. Michael Jackson and Bad Spotlight of Upcoming Spike Lee Doc

Say what you will about Michael Jackson. He was the self-anointed King of Pop, but legions of fans around the world were his willing subjects for decades, crossing generations. So there is at least a reasonable in-house audience just itching for more about the moon-walker and Spike Lee is just the man to deliver. Lee and Jackson were friends in life and the filmmaker, whose Red Hook Summer opens next month, is working on a documentary tied to the 25th anniversary of the release of Jackson’s Bad album. And Lee has apparently come across a lot of material for the film-in-progress. He told the A.P. it’s a “treasure chest of findings” including footage the star shot himself from behind-the-scenes. “We had complete access to the vaults of Michael Jackson,” Lee said. “He wrote 60 demos for the Bad record. Only 11 made it. So we got to hear a lot of that stuff, too, so it was just a great experience.” Still untitled, Lee said that the film will be appealing to those who are not Michael Jackson fans. The doc will also show a personal side of the pop legend. “He had a great sense of humor and he was funny,” said Lee who interviewed Kanye West and Mariah Carey for the film. He also spoke to Sheryl Crow who was a background singer during Jackson’s Bad tour. “We really divided it into two things: Artists today who were influenced by Michael and then people who worked side by side…” Loyalists and new converts have been gobbling up Michael Jackson’s music since his death in 2009 at age 50 and the powers-that-be are very happy to oblige. The follow-up to the singer’s Thriller album, Bad includes hits “Smooth Criminal” and “The Way You Make Me Feel.” It will be re-released with additional tracks, a DVD and other goodies September 18th. Jackson would have turned 54 on August 29th. [Source: A.P. ]

I’m Sorry Miss Jackson: Court Rules That CBS Won’t Have To Pay Up For Janet Jackson Superbowl 2004 Expose

CBS Escapes Fine For 2004 Superbowl Halftime Show Slip-Up CBS has managed to dodge a $550,000 fine for Janet Jackson’s bosom-bearing half-time show “slip-up” with Justin Timberlake. The Supreme Court decided Friday not to consider reinstating the government’s $550,000 fine on CBS for Janet Jackson’s infamous breast-baring “wardrobe malfunction” at the 2004 Super Bowl. The high court refused to hear an appeal from the Federal Communications Commission over the penalty. The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals twice had thrown out the fine. The second time came after the Supreme Court upheld the FCC’s policy threatening fines against even one-time uses of curse words on live television. The appeals court said FCC’s policy of excusing fleeting instances of indecent words and images appeared to change without notice in March 2004, a month after Jackson’s halftime act. The judges said that made the agency’s action against CBS “arbitrary and capricious.” But now, the FCC clearly has abandoned its exception for fleeting expletives, Chief Justice John Roberts said. “It is now clear that the brevity of an indecent broadcast — be it word or image — cannot immunize it from FCC censure,” he said. “Any future ‘wardrobe malfunctions’ will not be protected on the ground relied on by the court below.” In addition, Roberts said that calling it a “wardrobe malfunction” when Justin Timberlake ripped away part of Jackson’s bustier “strained the credulity of the public.” CBS said it was grateful for the court’s decision. We’re just wondering why this is still being appealed eight years later. Surely there’s more pressing court matters to focus on….. like this one. Source Images via Wenn
