From The Pole To The Pulpit To The Playoffs: Minister And Warriors Coach Mark Jackson Extorted By Stripper

Golden State Warriors Coach Victim Of Extortion Scheme Ran By Ex-Stripper Ever wondered what Golden State Warriors head coach Mark Jackson looked like off court and clothes-less? Well, you almost found out. Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson has confirmed that he and his family were the targets of an extortion scheme. The Smoking Gun reported that a 28-year-old former stripper possessed nude photographs of the married Warriors coach and wanted money to keep the photos from becoming public. The team confirmed two suspects were arrested earlier this week. The Warriors said in a statement Wednesday that Jackson informed the organization of the extortion plot in April and that the team immediately contacted the FBI. The Warriors say that “although not condoning his previous actions that led to the extortion attempt, the Warriors fully support Coach Jackson during this time.” Jackson was hired last year. He is also an ordained minister, leading a congregation with his wife in the Los Angeles suburb of Van Nuys. No mention of what these “previous actions” were that led to the pole hugger’s possession of these pics that almost put Coach Jackson’s million dollar man parts on full display…but we can juuust about guess. Michael Jackson Still The King Of Pop Three Years After Death

MJ’s continued influence on pop culture has proved that the King of Pop will forever remain in the hearts of music fans. By Nadeska Alexis Michael Jackson Photo: Music fans the world over can mark June 25, 2009 as one of those eerie days that force them to recall exactly what they were doing in the moments before they heard tragic news. Michael Jackson died that day, at the age of 50, and the world was not ready to see him go. No entertainer could ever fill the void that MJ left behind, but his memory has not faded in the three years that he’s been gone. In the past 12 months alone, we’ve seen Jackson-inspired productions, heard narratives from celebrities who continually cite him as a key influence, and this summer his face will be plastered on Pepsi cans to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his classic album Bad. Keep reading to see a few examples from the past year that prove that Jackson has remained forever in the heart of pop culture. Conrad Murray manslaughter trial The public and very messy manslaughter trial for Jackson’s doctor Conrad Murray began in late September, and it was an excruciating and drawn-out ordeal for fans who were hoping to find closure after the star’s death. After a painstaking six-week trial, which included testimony from 49 witnesses, a jury delivered a guilty verdict on involuntary manslaughter charges for Murray on November 7, and the world let out a collective sigh of relief. Watch the Throne shout-out The guilty verdict in Murray’s involuntary manslaughter trial was handed down just hours before Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne tour hit Madison Square Garden in New York, and it was clear that the hip-hop Titans were paying attention, just like everyone else. While spitting his lines on the WTT’s “Welcome to the Jungle,” Jay threw extra emphasis on the line, “Rest in peace to the leader of the Jackson 5,” which drew applause from the crowd. Cirque Du Soleil launches Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour After a few preliminary shows in Canada, in October Cirque Du Soleil launched Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour in the U.S., dedicating a two-hour production entirely to the fallen legend. The mind-blowing mashup of dance and acrobatics, set to MJ’s music, was an immediate hit, and the 65 artists who trained intensely for their performances did not take their responsibilities lightly. When MTV News caught up with one of the dancers backstage, following a performance set to “Danger,” he admitted that the entire production was deeply emotional, and that if MJ could see the show, “he would feel such a sense of pride of what he has given us to work with.” Jackson tops fans’ hologram wish list Tupac’s hologram appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April set off a firestorm of speculation about which deceased entertainer we could expect to see onstage next. Not surprisingly, MJ was on the tip of many a fan’s tongue. LMFAO ‘s Redfoo put MJ’s name at the top of his hologram wish list, while a quick poll of fans in the Times Square area found that the masses wholeheartedly agreed.”It’s a really clich

Ali Fedotowsky "Freaking Out" at Idea of Roberto Martinez as The Bachelor

Ali Fedotowsky, who chose Roberto Martinez on The Bachelorette two summers ago, is said to be less than thrilled about rumors that say he’s in talks to be The Bachelor . Roberto and Ali split after 18 months together, and sure enough, he’s being talked about as the star of Season 17 of The Bachelor , slated for early January. “Roberto never shared his side of the breakup, and Ali is terrified about what he would say on the show and how she would come off,” a source explains. Who knows why she would care about a breakup that wasn’t even that bad (supposedly), now that she’s faded from the spotlight (mostly), but whatever. Luckily for Ali, he may turn down the opportunity. “He’s very happy being out of the spotlight,” a source close to the hunky former minor league ballplayer and current San Diego insurance agent explains. “He hasn’t ruled it out 100 percent, but don’t bet on it.” If Roberto Martinez were to become The Bachelor, he would be the first minority star in 25 seasons (including eight Bachelorettes ) of the ABC franchise. None of the 16 Bachelors are married to their final rose recipient, although Jason Mesnick married Molly Malaney, his runner-up from that season. You Can’t Be Serious: Michigan Boy Finds Severed Finger In His Arby’s Sammich

Ewwwwwwwwww! Michigan Boy Bites Into A Severed Finger In His Arby’s Sandwich A Michigan teen made a gristly discovery after biting into an Arby’s junior roast beef sandwich. Ryan Hart said he had nearly polished off his sandwich last Friday when he bit into something tough to chew that tasted like rubber, so he spit it out. Turns out it tasted like finger. The fleshy pad of an unfortunate employee’s finger, apparently. “I was like, ‘That (has) to be a finger,”’ Hart, 14, told the Jackson Citizen Patriot on Wednesday (http://bit.ly/LeTa5f ). “I was about to puke. … It was just nasty.” The employee apparently cut her finger on a meat slicer and left her station without immediately telling anyone, said Steve Hall, the environmental health director for the Jackson County health department. Her co-workers continued filling orders before they became aware of what happened, he said. John Gray, a spokesman for Atlanta-based Arby’s, released a statement Wednesday apologizing for what he described as an isolated and “unfortunate incident.” He said Arby’s is still investigating, but has determined that the Jackson workers shut down food production as soon as they found out what happened and thoroughly cleaned and sanitized the restaurant. Says Ryan’s mom about the finger-lickin’ ordeal: “Somebody loses a finger, and you keep sending food out the window? I can’t believe that,” said Vail. She and Wheaton said the severed section was about an eighth to a quarter-inch thick and at least one inch long. Vail said she called 911 and met police at a local hospital, where her son’s blood was drawn and he was prescribed some medication. Ryan said he is feeling fine. Vail said she has been in touch with a lawyer, but has not decided what course to take. We’ll tell you what course to take…GET PAID!!!!!! Image via AP Source Continue reading

‘American Idol’ Top Three Battle For Ticket To Finale

Phillip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet make their final cases to America that they should be in the final two. By Adam Graham Phillip Phillips on “American Idol” Photo: Michael Becker/ FOX With “We’ve Got Tonight,” Phillip Phillips may have punched his ticket to next week’s “American Idol” finale. Phillips’ performance at the close of Wednesday’s (May 16) episode stole the show and earned a standing ovation from the judges. All night, Randy Jackson spoke of having big “moments,” and Phillips’ gentle take on the Bob Seger classic definitely qualified as one of those performances. “That was the perfect song at the perfect time and your best performance on the show ever!” Jackson told Phillips after the song. Jennifer Lopez said it was like a “lullaby,” and Steven Tyler said he “nailed it” and praised him for his passion during the song. Phillips’ “We’ve Got Tonight” came at the end of a two-hour show that saw the contestants visiting their hometowns and being treated like returning heroes. The episode also saw Joshua Ledet retain his momentum, while Jessica Sanchez slipped a bit, proving it may be tough for her to make it to the final two. Contestants sang three songs each: One chosen by the judges, one of their own choosing and one picked by Jimmy Iovine. Ledet opened the show with Etta James’ “I’d Rather Go Blind,” which also earned a standing ovation from the judges. (Not surprising, they picked the song.) “Out of 70,000, there’s only one American Idol. And you sang like that one tonight,” Tyler told Ledet after the song. He followed it with John Lennon’s “Imagine,” dubbed “brilliant” (by Jackson) and “controlled” (by Lopez) and finished with Mary J. Blige’s “No More Drama,” his suggestion from Iovine. It was another hit. “You have this perfect marriage of knowing exactly what you’re doing and letting completely go at the same time,” Lopez told him after his unkempt performance, which saw him dramatically remove his jacket, as well as his in-ear monitors. “There’s spontaneity, you don’t know what’s going to happen, but you know it’s going to be out of this world.” Sanchez’s up-and-down night was typified by Jackson’s critiques: He called her version of Mariah Carey’s “My All” “one of the best times a Mariah song has ever been performed on TV,” but later said her version of Jackson Five’s “I’ll Be There” — also once memorably performed by Mariah — was only “OK.” “There was never a moment-moment. It’s like, you know, I mean, it needed like a moment-moment-moment.” (In Jackson-speak, that means she didn’t quite deliver.) Sandwiched between the two, she took on Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” which is more than a little familiar to one of the three judges. Tyler rose to his feet afterwards, telling her she “took a great song and made it greater,” while Lopez called it “crazy” (in a good way). And Jackson? “Dude, you delivered, man, yo, whoa, I’m like yo, all right, all right.” Our thoughts exactly, Randy. Phillips closed so strong it hardly mattered what came before. (Voters have short attention spans, you see.) After his first song, Madcon’s “Beggin’,” Tyler said Phillips “could be a new Springsteen,” while Jackson commented he felt he was at a Phil Phillips concert. All three judges agreed his middle performance of Matchbox Twenty’s “Disease” was underwhelming, but by his home-run song was a performance all but forgotten. One of the performers is headed home — this time not in a good way — on Thursday’s episode, which is also set to feature a performance by Adam Lambert. What did you think of “Idol” on Wednesday?
