Stripper: Conrad Murray Brought Me to MJ’s House

A Los Angeles stripper claims the embattled Dr. Conrad Murray brought her home from Sam’s Hof Brau strip club weeks before Michael Jackson died last June. Whether that’s true, or what bearing it had on Murray’s treatment of Jackson that fateful morning is completely unclear, but Joe Jackson sees a connection. Michael’s father and his lawyer, Brian Oxman, will interview a stripper who not only claims Dr. Murray was at the strip club hours before Michael Jackson died, but that she was at Michael Jackson’s house after being invited by the doctor. The stripper, who claims she was working at Sam’s Hof Brau on June 24, 2009, says that Dr. Conrad Murray was at the club drinking just before midnight. Oxman, who is repping Joe in his wrongful death lawsuit against Murray, who faces involuntary manslaughter charges, has spoken with the stripper’s “rep.” The stripper claims weeks before Jackson died, Dr. Murray invited her to Jackson’s home in Holmby Hills. She claims she went late one night, after the club closed, and the King of Pop was there, however he was in a deep sleep. In Oxman’s letter of intent to sue Dr. Murray for the wrongful death of Jackson, he accused the doctor of drinking at Sam’s Hof Brau before treating MJ. Dr. Murray’s reps have strongly denied he was at the club on June 24, and even more adamantly, have said that the doctor does not drink … period. The death of Michael Jackson took place June 25, 2009.

‘Toy Story 3,’ ‘Grown Ups’ Play Well Together At Weekend Box Office

Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise’s ‘Knight and Day’ fizzles at #3. By Josh Wigler Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear and Buzz Lightyear in “Toy Story 3” Photo: Disney/Pixar The Box-Office Top Five #1 “Toy Story 3” ($59 million) #2 “Grown Ups” ($41 million) #3 “Knight and Day” ($20.5 million) #4 “The Karate Kid” ($15.4 million) #5 “The A-Team” ($6 million) Moviegoers pining for their childhood years and those not quite ready to admit that they’re well into their adult lives walked away happy this weekend as “Toy Story 3” and “Grown Ups” were the big winners at the weekend box office, while “Knight and Day” opened to disappointing results. Landing in first place was “Toy Story 3” for its second-consecutive weekend victory. The Pixar family film earned $59 million in its second frame, bringing the latest “Toy Story” installment’s domestic total to $226.6 million after just two weeks. With an additional $100 million earned overseas, “Toy Story 3” has a worldwide toy chest worth $326.6 million, far exceeding its production budget of $200 million. Although the toys had the most fun at the box office this weekend, there was plenty to enjoy for “Grown Ups” as well. The Sony comedy stars veteran comedians and noted friends Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider, whose collective comedy power resulted in a strong $41 million debut. While name recognition was a helpful factor in the success of “Grown Ups,” it did little for Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz’s “Knight and Day.” The action-comedy earned $20.5 million over the weekend and $27.8 million since debuting on Wednesday, an unimpressive result given the box-office returns that Cruise and Diaz were once used to seeing. Landing in fourth and fifth place were “The Karate Kid” and “The A-Team,” proving their continued staying power in their third week at the box office. “The A-Team” has just barely crossed its production budget of $110 million, thanks to foreign ticket sales. Last weekend’s newcomer “Jonah Hex” virtually disappeared from sight with a $1.6 million 10th place finish, leaving many moviegoers scratching their heads wondering what went wrong with the Josh Brolin-starring DC Comics adaptation. Upcoming Releases Bella Swan finds herself in the crosshairs of deadly vampires and difficult romantic decisions once again with the arrival of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” on Wednesday. But are the legions of Team Edward and Team Jacob supporters enough to take box office gold away from M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Last Airbender”? Which movie do you think will top next weekend’s box office? Share your predictions in the comments. Chris Brown’s BET Awards Breakdown Divides Viewers

Some think Brown’s Michael Jackson tribute was sincere, while others view it as a sympathy ploy. By Gil Kaufman Chris Brown performs at the 2010 BET Awards on Sunday Photo: Frederick M. Brown/ Getty Images While Chris Brown’s onstage breakdown during a Michael Jackson tribute at Sunday night’s BET Awards likely left many viewers speechless, MTV News readers had plenty to say about the emotional tribute to the late King of Pop. Many of the commenters who weighed in on an MTV News story about the performance, during which Brown executed some spot-on Jackson choreography for “Remember the Time” and “Billie Jean” while modeling some of MJ’s signature looks. He then cried and was unable to get out the lyrics to the moving “Man in the Mirror.” “He left his heart on that dance floor and when those tears dropped from his face, so did the audience around the world,” Music4Ever wrote. “He truly gave that his all and showed Michael that he was his idol.” Kjabbamodern called Brown’s performance “amazing” and said he was spot on. “When you watched the awards you truly felt the incredible spirit he had, and when he broke down, it was truly genuine. Anyone that cannot understand that and see his true spirit is seriously NOT human. [Brown] made a mistake. … I hope people find it in their hearts to forgive this young man.” The performance was one of the most high profile for Brown since the singer pleaded guilty last summer in connection with his attack on former girlfriend Rihanna. Since then, he has struggled to get his career back on track, meeting with disappointing sales for his album, Graffiti, and recently being forced to cancel European dates when the conviction stopped him from obtaining a work visa in the U.K. Not everyone was convinced of the emotional sincerity of Brown’s teary display. “Publicity stunt … so funny that most of these commenters don’t even remember all the backlash MJ had to endure!!” Eddie wrote. “Where was the forgiveness then? So sad that a sick person like Chris can put on a show of ‘tears’ to a REAL MUSICIAN’S MUSIC to get sympathy. …

Michael Jackson’s Party Anthems: DJ Drama, Jermaine Dupri, More Reveal Their Favorites

‘Michael Jackson’s music can absolutely crush a party!’ Q-Tip tells MTV News. By Shaheem Reid Michael Jackson Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Friday (June 25) marks the one-year anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death . Fans across the globe are still heartbroken that the King of Pop is no longer with us, but this weekend, they will celebrate his memory by singing his songs and dancing to his music, just like Jackson wanted them to do while he was still here. We spoke to several DJs and asked them which of MJ’s songs are their favorites to play in the club. ” ‘Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,’ ” Jermaine Dupri said Friday morning. “Because it embodies what clubs in the ’80s were really about, and you can hear it. For the three minutes you throw that on, you start believing you’re back there. At least I do.” “Probably ‘P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing),’ ” DJ Drama said via phone from India. “It gets all the drunk and hot girls excited!” ” ‘P.Y.T.,’ ” DJ Envy agreed. ” ‘Beat It,’ ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’.’ ” Q-Tip, who became a legend in hip-hop for his abstract rhymes, had a few nonconventional choices. “Michael Jackson’s music can absolutely crush a party!” said Tip, who DJs all around the world. “The obvious records are ‘Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough’ and ‘Rock With You.’ My personal faves are ‘Life of the Party,’ ‘Get on the Floor’ and ‘Body Language.’ Also, ‘Show Me the Way to Go.’ ” “My two favorites are ‘Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough’ and ‘Billie Jean.’ They both are so timeless,” said DJ Kut, who spins on WBLS in New York. “They even make me wanna dance, and I don’t dance!” “Definitely one of my all-time favorites that can work at any party in the world is ‘Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,’ ” Miami’s DJ Affect said. “The title explains it best. … That record is a party starter! Followed up by ‘Billie Jean,’ which always gets the ladies moving on any dance floor. To conclude the night around 4:55 a.m. in South Beach, ‘Dirty Diana’ is the perfect go-to record. MJ will truly be missed and never forgot.” Lil Jon went with the classics: ” ‘Billie Jean.’ Soon as the drums drop, people go nuts and they love to sing the hook! ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’,’ I use the ‘ma ma say, ma ma sa’ part all the time to get the whole club crazy. ‘Rock With You,’ I drop the a cappella, and everyone is singing from thugs to nerds. Then I drop the beat and send the club into a frenzy!” “You can go to any club on the planet and hear ‘Billie Jean,’ ‘Beat It,’ ” said DJ Jazzy Jeff, who released the Jackson tribute mixtape He’s the King, I’m the DJ last year. “You can hear ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’.’ Those are his main, main super staples; an Eskimo in Alaska knows those.” MTV will be remembering the life and music of Michael Jackson all weekend. Don’t miss the one-hour special “Michael Jackson’s Influence on Music,” airing tonight at 6:30 p.m. on MTV.
