$1.3 million will be donated to Los Angeles for permits, police and cleanup services. The city incurred major costs handling the July 7 memorial at the Staples Center after the pop icon died last summer at age 50. AEG confirmed in a statement e-mailed to MTV News that the company and the estate of Michael Jackson will pay $1.3 million to the city of Los Angeles; $1 million will be donated to the city’s general fund, and another $300,000 will go to the Los Angeles Police Foundation. L.A. determined that the figure represents expenses for permits, police services and Sanitation Department and Transportation Department costs. AEG was behind the scheduled run of Jackson’s much-anticipated This Is It shows at London’s O2 arena, which the singer was preparing for when he died of cardiac arrest. The singer also rehearsed at the Staples Center before his death. According to the Los Angeles Times, a 2009 city report pegged the cost of the memorial at $3.2 million. AEG President and CEO Timothy J. Leiweke alleged that City Attorney Carmen Trutanich demanded $6 million last year to cover the memorial’s expenses, while Trutanich maintained he only requested between $2 million and $3 million, the paper reports. Jackson’s memorial was a star-studded event, attended by celebrities and fans alike. Mariah Carey, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, John Mayer and Stevie Wonder gave powerhouse performances, and luminaries like Smokey Robinson, Magic Johnson and the Reverend Al Sharpton paid tribute to the star. An estimated 17,000 fans were present inside the Staples Center and at the Nokia Theatre next door, where a viewing area was set up. We know Michael Jackson’s death was tragic and all, but it’s kind of sleazy how his crazy father Joe seems bent on blaming/suing everyone on the planet for it. It’s like he wants to sponge off of his son for attention and/or money, even after the music icon passed away. We’d feel bad implying that if it weren’t obvious. In any case, Joe’s latest beef – he’s already sued Dr. Conrad Murray and blamed Katherine Jackson , his own wife, for Michael’s untimely demise – is with AEG. Murray requested lifesaving equipment and back-up help for Michael from his London concert promoter, Joe claims, but the company never came through . Joe Jackson is gunning for AEG by filing complaints with the California Medical Board and another agency, alleging that the concert promoter abused his son. Joe Jackson is going after Dr. Conrad Murray … and his corporate boss . Days before MJ’s death, Murray had requested a heart resuscitation machine and a nurse in several e-mails making the request, but AEG never provided it. Joe is accusing AEG of co-opting Dr. Conrad Murray’s medical judgment by enticing him with a huge salary, an “unlawful practice of corporate medicine.” Besides the CPR machine, he also asked for saline, catheters, needles and a gurney. The doc, of course, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. Murray is expected to argue that, as an addict used to getting his way, Michael Jackson killed himself with a lethal Propofol injection when he wasn’t looking. That allegation promoted a wrongful death suit from Joe. What will his next move be? Who knows. Just another day in a saga unfolding for nearly a year.

As we previously reported, Michael Jackson’s mother Katherine wants four of her grandchildren and their mom to move out so she can care for MJ’s kids. Prince, Paris and Blanket are under Katherine’s guardianship, but her mansion currently houses Alejandra Jackson and her four children as well, and it’s chaos. The family housing feud began when the matriarch asked Alejandra and her four kids to move out, because they’re just too much to handle for Katherine, 80. She has two kids (Jermajesty and Jaafar) by Jermaine Jackson and two others (Donte and Randy Jr.) by Randy Jackson, who had a heart attack this week. The deal is this: Katherine and the Michael Jackson estate have offered to let Alejandra and her brood move into a nearby condo owned by Michael Jackson. Alejandra has lawyered up, however, and while all Katherine wants is a confidentiality agreement, Alejandra wants better digs and a big financial settlement. Another day, another dose of Jackson family drama. Katherine needs Alejandra and her kids to move so she can care for Michael’s kids, and is reportedly ready to play hardball over it – condo or the highway . Sources close to the family say Katherine cares deeply for the four grandchildren but is not about to be held hostage by someone who has no legal claim. Jermaine Jackson does owe Alejandra back child support, but Katherine sees that as her son’s problem, not hers. Plus, Katherine is living on an allowance. Michael left 40 percent of his estate to Katherine, but paid out in increments, with the remainder going to Paris, Prince and Blanket when she passes away. Therefore, she doesn’t have access to a lump sum for a payoff and the executors of MJ’s estate aren’t going to cover Jermaine and Randy’s obligations. Basically, it could get ugly for Katherine. Like, worse than Joe Jackson blaming Michael’s death on her ugly. But don’t underestimate this strong woman.
