Lincoln Invited to Screen U.S. Senate Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has invited Steven Spielberg to screen Lincoln in the Senate chamber later this month. The film screened by invitation of President Obama at the White House on November 15th, Deadline reports . Casey Affleck Eyes Boston Strangler Pic Affleck hopes to star in the thriller about the desperate search to find the mass murderer who gripped Boston in fear in the early ’60s. Warner Bros. picked up the thriller, Deadline reports . New Tron Back in Development A Tron 3 sequel to 2010 reboot Tron: Legacy is back on track. Plot details are being kept secret, but Joseph Kosiniski, who directed Legacy is attached to direct the new pic, THR reports . TDKR Shooter’s Records Released as Theater Is Set to Re-open The documents reveal a romantic relationship accused killer James Holmes had and one of his professors feared for her students’ safety. The theater where the shooting occurred is set to reopen January 17th during a ceremony that will be attended by Colorado’s governor, THR reports . Glenn Beck and Vince Vaughn Teaming for Documentary Filmmaker Competition Show The conservative personality is working to start a reality show called Pursuit of the Truth with Vince Vaughn in which 20 documentarians will compete for financing and distribution of their films and is accepting “filmmakers of all walks of life,” Indiewire reports .

Madonna Pulls Gun at Denver Concert, Some Fans Not Pleased

Some concert-goers in Colorado were upset with Madonna’s pulling out guns on stage during her concert in Denver Thursday night, according to KUSA-TV. In light of James Holmes’ movie theater slaying of 12 people July 20 in Aurora, a suburb of Denver, many attendees weren’t delighted to see the Queen of Pop strapped. Madonna pulling out guns is not new; she’s done it at every MDNA tour stop. The Material Girl has said she does not condone violence or gunplay and uses them as “symbols of intolerance” and “the pain [she has] felt from having [her] heart broken.” What do you think: Madonna pulling a gun on stage …   It’s all in good fun! The Dark Knight Rises…and raises mula! Families Of Batman Theater Shooting Victims’ Will Split $5 Million According to TMZ reports : The families of the 12 people killed in the Aurora shooting massacre — along with several people who suffered permanent injuries in the attack — will split the majority of the $5 million in donations raised to assist the victims of the attack. A mediator tasked with dividing the funds has announced the above-mentioned people will split 70% of the funds — roughly $200k each. The mediator says the rest of the cash will go to people who suffered physical injuries — the more severe the injury, the more money they will receive. Aside from the 12 people killed, 58 people were wounded in the July 20 shooting in Aurora, CO. The mediator says … due to limited funds, none of the money will go toward people who did not require overnight hospitalization … and the cash will NOT be used to aid theater-goers who were physically unharmed, but claim they suffer from mental trauma. As for the shooter James Holmes, he’s still in custody facing murder charges. This money will certainly not make up for lost family members and friends, but at least it will help the folks that need it to help pay hospital bills and costs associated with the tragedy.

Dave Mustaine’s claim that President Obama is responsible for the Aurora, Colo., shooting tragedy last month are ridiculous, says victim Carli Richards. Richards, one of the 70 people who was shot in the theater that night (and one of the 58 to survive it), hit back at Mustaine’s conspiracy theory today. After hearing that Mustaine said Obama staged the Aurora shooting to push an anti-gun agenda, Richards said the rocker likely just wants attention: “Some people think the President is a good scapegoat but he didn’t shoot me,” she said. “It’s obviously absurd and people who make up conspiracies just want attention .” “Everybody is emotional at this time and needs to blame somebody I guess.” “I don’t think they realize the consequences of not being responsible for your own actions and James Holmes needs to be held accountable for his, to whatever extent the criminal justice system deems fit.” Speaking of the actual person responsible, Richards, 22, previously said she’d like Holmes to die a slow, painful death , as lethal injection is too humane. James Holmes Dubbed Mentally Ill by Defense Team

James Holmes made another appearance in court today, as a hearing was held to listen to arguments from media outlets who believe a judge should unseal various documents related to the July 20 movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado . Both sides – the prosecution and the defense – actually prefer to keep these documents away from the public while the case is pending. But while a decision was not made regarding that issue, Holmes’ attorneys did show their hand a bit: They asked for prosecutors and investigators turn over every shred of evidence in their possession in order for the alleged killer’s legal team to make a determination. “We cannot begin to assess the nature and the depth of Mr. Holmes’ mental illness until we receive full disclosure of all the documents,” a lawyer told the judge, hinting they will pursue an insanity defense. Holmes faces 24 counts of first-degree murder . The state has not revealed yet whether it plans to ask for the death penalty.

Gonorrhea Is Now Resistant To Its Last Remaining Cure If you needed any more convincing, here’s another reason you just have to wrap it up. The sexually transmitted disease, gonorrhea, colloquially known as “the clap,” may soon have no drugs left to treat the infection. Lab studies are showing an increasing resistance to the type of drugs that doctors use to treat gonorrhea, called cephalosporins. That leaves only a few options, which are not as effective. “Cephalosporin-resistant gonorrhea could potentially mean untreatable gonorrhea,” says Dr. Gail Bolan, director of the Division of STD Prevention at the CDC. “Untreatable gonorrhea is a real possibility.” Gonorrhea has already become resistant to every other class of drug used to treat it. For that reason, the CDC is urging doctors to immediately change their practice and begin treating with an injectable cephalosporin and adding one of two oral medications — azithromycin or doxycycline. Certain patients will need to return to the doctor in a week for a repeat test to ensure the medications worked. Any partners in the 60 days prior to diagnosis should be treated as soon as possible. Gonorrhea is transmitted through sexual contact with the penis, vagina, mouth or anus of an infected partner, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Ejaculation does not have to occur to pass the disease. It can also spread from a mother to her child during childbirth. Over 300,000 cases are reported each year, and it’s estimated that the number is closer to 700,000, since many people go undiagnosed or untreated, and continue to pass it on. Untreated, gonorrhea has major implications for women, causing infertility, ectopic pregnancy — a life-threatening condition where the pregnancy is outside of the uterus — and a deeper infection that spreads into the uterus, fallopian tubes and the pelvis. Ew ew ew. Basically, in case you were wondering, you shouldn’t be messing with that raw doggie stuff. Get tested and stay safe. They got super diseases out there now. Source

Let the stalling begin… Lawyers For James Holmes Claim He Is Mentally Ill Mass murder James Holmes has convinced his lawyers that he is mentally ill . Lawyers for the crazed gunman claim they will need more time to assess their deranged client before going to trial. Attorneys for the suspect in the Colorado movie theater shootings said Thursday their client is mentally ill and that they need more time to assess the nature of his illness. James Holmes’ lawyers made the disclosure at a court hearing in suburban Denver where news media organizations were asking a judge to unseal court documents in the case. Holmes, a 24-year-old former Ph.D. student at the University of Colorado, Denver, had the familiar, dazed demeanor that he has had in previous court appearances. Jeffrey Ross Dreses Like Joe Paterno, Cracks Colorado Shooting Jokes at Comedy Central Roast

Jeffrey Ross arrived for the Comedy Central Roast of Roseanne Barr yesterday dressed as Joe Paterno and accompanied by two young boys in only Penn State helmets and a towel. To many, though, this get-up was actually NOT the most offensive act by the comedian during the event. Still wearing his costume, Ross took to the podium and addressed a red-haired Seth Greene with a clear reference to alleged Colorado shooter James Holmes : “Congratulations,” Ross said to Green. “This is actually a really big night for you. You haven’t gotten this much attention since you shot all those people in Aurora.” To a mixture of boos and scattered applause, Ross then added: “I’m kidding! You’re not like James Holmes. At least he’s doing something in a movie theater that people remember.” Zing … ouch … and totally inappropriate ? Ross’ attempt at humor came a week after Dane Cook also made a stand-up joke about the incident, although at least Ross focused his quips on Holmes. Cook actually made fun of the victims. Still, even Roseanne herself said afterward that Ross “crossed the line,” adding: “But comedy is about moving the line… And where is the line in a country that has freedom of speech? A billboard featuring a meme-style juxtaposition of President Obama and Aurora shooter James Holmes has garnered a great deal of attention, very little of it positive. The billboard, located in Caldwell, Idaho, features a picture of Holmes, accompanied with the text “ Kills 12 in a movie theater with assault rifle, everyone freaks out.” Juxtaposed is a photo of Barack Obama, with the text: “Kills thousands with foreign policy, wins Nobel Peace Prize.” Check out the controversial billboard below: The sentiment is similar to one of Heath Ledger’s memorable Dark Knight quotes , in which he says no one would blink if he announced a “truck load of soldiers

Aurora Movie Theater to Pay for Victim Funeral Services

The movie theater inside which James Holmes took the lives of 12 people last Friday is offering to pay for the funerals of those lost in the massacre. As first reported by TMZ, several services were held this week, including one for a 32-year old mother of two named Rebecca Wingo. And insiders say the owners of Cinemark called the chapel where her funeral was being held and made it clear it would cover the expenses for Wingo and also all other victims of the tragedy. Rebecca’s mother actually turned down the offer, sources confirm, but only because the Victims Advocate Fund has already paid for everyone’s main funeral expenses. Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to all those affected by this terrible incident.
