In the wake of today’s horrific Dark Knight Rises shooting in Colorado, Warner Bros. has chosen to pull the trailer for another movie out of theaters. The preview for Gangster Squad , which has been online since May and is posted below, was NOT played prior to this morning’s Batman feature and has NOT been attached to most of The Dark Knight Rises screenings around the country. Still, one scene does depict mobsters opening fire inside a movie theater and, with the spot scheduled to start running nationwide this weekend, the studio thought it was inappropriate to air at such a time.

A longtime proponent of gun control, New York City Michael Bloomberg weighed in on the tragic shooting early Friday morning in Aurora, Colorado, that left 12 dead and dozens more wounded at a showing of The Dark Knight Rises . Twenty-four year-old suspect James Holmes was arrested after allegedly opening fire in the crowded theater and carrying a rifle, handgun and gas mask. The tragedy prompted Bloomberg’s police commissioner to announce increased security at screenings of The Dark Knight Rises in NYC to prevent any possible copycat incidents. “You know, soothing words are nice, but maybe it’s time that the two people who want to be President of the United States stand up and tell us what they are going to do about it, because this is obviously a problem across the country,” Bloomberg said Friday morning on WOR Radio’s The John Gambling Show with Mayor Mike. “Everybody always says ‘Isn’t it tragic?’ And you know, we look for was the guy, as you said, maybe trying to recreate Batman. I mean, there are so many murders with guns every day, it’s just got to stop. And instead of the two people – President Obama and Governor Romney – talking in broad things about they want to make the world a better place, okay, tell us how. And this is a real problem. ABC’s Denver affiliate has acquired and released the first image of James Holmes, the 24-year-old suspect in the shooting attack that left 12 dead and 50 injured this morning at an Aurora, Colorado, multiplex. Local police, meanwhile, have encountered a series of booby traps complicating their investigation of Holmes’s apartment. As a result, authorities are taking significant precautions as they proceed: Police say the apartment of the suspect in a mass shooting at a Denver area movie theater is booby trapped, so they’ve evacuated five surrounding buildings. Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates says bomb technicians are determining how to disarm flammable or explosive material in the third-floor apartment. “We could be here for hours or we could be here for days,” said Oates. Oates says pictures from inside the apartment are fairly disturbing and the devices look to be sophisticated.
