Balmain recently debuted a thousand-dollar shredded t-shirt, which got us thinking: How much money could you waste on a t-shirt, jeans, and a trash bag to schlep your empty wallet? Report: Paula Abdul to Host Star Search Remake

Former American Idol judge Paula Abdul is said to be “finalizing a deal” to star in a new version of Star Search , the ’80s-era talent show hosted by Ed McMahon. Hope her contract includes open bar. Slated for Summer 2010, the Star Search reboot is said to feature Abdul serving as a combination judge and host , although details are still being worked out. ABC, which is said to be developing the show, did not comment to Entertainment Weekly, which first reported the news about the recently departed Idol staple. Is Paula Abdul nearing a return to reality TV? Rumors suggesting Paula was headed for Dancing With the Stars as well as Idol frenemy Simon Cowell’s upcoming X Factor series have also circulated recently. The original Star Search wasn’t just for singers: actors, comedians and models vied to win the competition. So basically, it’s like Britain’s / America’s Got Talent . One alum of the long-running show: Britney Spears . What do you think of a revamped Star Search and the idea of Paula on board? Do we really need more shows like this – and is she the right person to host one?

Lady Gaga Planning Ambitious 3-D Concert, DVD

‘There are talks about a 3-D concert and DVD in the near future,’ rep for Gaga tells MTV News. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga Photo: Kevork Djansezian/ Getty Images Lady Gaga is currently in the midst of the Australian leg of her massive Monster Ball tour — with scheduled stops in Japan and Europe — and, as you probably know by now, she’s also putting the finishing touches on the much-anticipated “Telephone” video , too. But neither of those things are standing in the way of yet another ambitious endeavor, a planned 3-D concert and subsequent DVD. On Monday (March 8), MTV News spoke to a rep for her label, Interscope Records, who told us that “there are talks about a 3-D concert and DVD in the near future.” No other information — including just how a 3-D concert would manifest — was available at press time. Late last week, Gaga fansites began speculating about plans for a 3-D DVD (link http://gagadaily.com/2010/03/the-monster-ball-dvd-coming-soon/), but this is the first time a concert has been mentioned. In December, Gaga released a deluxe edition of her Fame Monster album, which included a pair of 3-D glasses that she mysteriously explained would come in handy “for things happening soon .” In the mean time, her Little Monsters are gearing up for the debut of the “Telephone” video — the follow-up to her striking “Bad Romance” clip — which, after weeks of teasing from Gaga herself and some last-minute editing is scheduled to premiere Thursday at 11:30 p.m. ET on E! News. Related Artists Lady Gaga

US backs ban on bluefin tuna trade

The US government announced yesterday that it supports prohibiting international trade of Atlantic bluefin tuna, a move that could lead to the most sweeping trade restrictions ever imposed on the highly prized fish. Sushi aficionados in Japan and elsewhere have consumed bluefin for decades, causing the fish’s population to plummet. In less than two weeks, representatives from 175 countries will convene in Doha, Qatar, to determine whether to restrict the trade of bluefin tuna – valued for its rich, buttery taste – and an array of other imperiled species under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species. Japan, the world’s largest bluefin consumer, opposes the idea of trade restrictions, while the European Union has yet to take a formal position. Over the past 40 years, the adult population of eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean bluefin tuna has declined 72 percent. In the western Atlantic, the population has dropped 82 percent. The declines occurred even though bluefin fishing was being governed by an international panel that sets catch quotas and is supposed to curtail illegal fishing. added by: jefftego
