Snooki And John McCain Bond On Twitter Over Tanning Taxes

‘I would never tax your tanning bed!’ onetime presidential candidate tweets at the ‘Jersey Shore’ starlet. By Terri Schwartz Snooki at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images A lot of things are changing on “Jersey Shore” this season, and the MTV Movie Awards ‘ 13-minute teaser clip let us in on the most important difference: Snooki is reverting to spray-tanning . Jersey tanning salons are sure to feel the repercussions of Snook’s admission, which she said was as a result of President Obama raising taxes on tanning beds. Turns out more than just “Jersey Shore” fans heard Snooki’s cry for help, and the self-identified guidette earned herself an unexpected ally against Obama’s tanning taxes: Arizona Senator John McCain. “@Sn00ki u r right,” the 2008 Republican presidential candidate tweeted on his verified account. “I would never tax your tanning bed! Pres Obama’s tax/spend policy is quite The Situation. but I do rec wearing sunscreen!” Snooki caught McCain’s shout-out and, though she didn’t respond to him directly, did tweet back , “Haha Yes!” Does this mean John McCain is coming out as a “Jersey Shore” fan? It seems like it, considering not only did he catch Snooki’s comment, he also threw in a Situation reference for good measure. Sure, there’s a good chance it was McCain’s social-network guru (who is most likely hip on the hot MTV show) who posted the tweet, but the first option is so much more enjoyable. Since Sarah Palin will likely be running for president herself in 2012, McCain should keep Snooki in mind as a vice-presidential candidate if he decides to take on Obama again. They already have the tanning-taxes platform in common! Season two of “Jersey Shore” premieres Thursday, July 29, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Be there! Drake Opens Up About Rihanna: ‘I Was A Pawn’

He also talks about other women who influenced his music in an upcoming New York Times profile. By Jayson Rodriguez Drake Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images A profile of Drake is set to run in Sunday’s New York Times. In the story, the rapper opens up about his childhood, the making of his breakout mixtape So Far Gone and his fling with Rihanna . “I was a pawn,” Drake told the newspaper about his time with Rihanna, which began with an invite to pen a track for the singer . “You know what she was doing to me? She was doing exactly what I’ve done to so many women throughout my life, which is show them quality time, then disappear. I was like, ‘Wow, this feels terrible.’ ” Drake channeled the experience into song, penning a verse on “Fireworks” dedicated to Rihanna, though he never mentions her by name. “I could tell it wasn’t love/ I just thought you’d f—ed with me/ Who could have predicted/ Lucky Strike would have you stuck with me,” Drake raps on the song, referring to the Manhattan bowling alley where the two reportedly made out. “Damn, I kept my wits about me, luckily/ What happened between us that night, it always seems to trouble me/ Now all of a sudden, these gossip rags want to cover me/ And you making it seem like it happened that way because of me.” Later in the story, Drake talks about the moody and melodic tracks that populate So Far Gone. The songs were inspired by a breakup with a woman he was dating who was involved with a far more famous rapper before Drake. His music was so intertwined with his relationship, he tried to push off material on Trey Songz. “I don’t even know if I wrote a rap song in that whole nine months,” Drake said. “Because I wasn’t a rapper anymore. I didn’t believe in myself. I was someone else’s property.” The rapper eventually rebounded, and his next pursuit served as the driving force behind his breakout hit “Best I Ever Had.” “A lot of So Far Gone was predictions,” he said of the collection. “I was rapping about things I’m only going through now.” What do you think about Drake’s thoughts on Rihanna? Kristen Stewart To Star In Film Adaptation Of ‘On The Road’

‘I am about to play Marylou in ‘On the Road,’ ‘Twilight’ star says during ‘Oprah’ taping. By Eric Ditzian Kristen Stewart Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images The big Kristen Stewart-related news of the week is that “Breaking Dawn” has, at long last, been gifted with a release date . But a smaller, though no less intriguing, nugget of KStew-y goodness dropped on Wednesday (May 5), when the 20-year-old actress paid a visit to “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” Stewart is attached to the long-gestating adaptation of “On the Road,” the seminal 1957 novel by Jack Kerouac that came to define the Beat Generation, according to USA Today . “I am very much attached to a movie that has been trying to get made forever,” she told the paper while in Chicago for the “Oprah” taping. “Not that this is going to help it, but maybe I can just brag a little bit. I am super excited about it, too. I am about to play Marylou in ‘On the Road.’ So that’s a big deal.” Marylou is the wife of Dean Moriarity, the disaffected drifter at the center of Kerouac’s book. “Tron Legacy” star Garrett Hedland is reportedly set to play Moriarity , while little-known British actor Sam Riley will play Sal Paradise, Kerouac’s narrator and Moriarity’s worshipful, cross-country driving buddy. Walter Salles (“The Motorcycle Diaries”) has been tapped as director. USA Today reports that the film is gearing up to start filming this summer, after filmmakers like Gus Van Sant and Francis Ford Coppola have tried for years to adapt Kerouac’s film for the big screen. The summer shoot should end well in advance of the start of filming on “Breaking Dawn” this fall. The final film in the “Twilight” franchise will hit theaters on November 18, 2011. What do you think of Kristen’s new role? Let us know in the comments below! For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .

David Boreanaz Mistress Will Go Public With Her Story, Lawyer Says

‘The truth will come out,’ Gloria Allred says in a statement to the New York Daily News. By Jocelyn Vena David Boreanaz with his wife Jaime Bergman Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images Despite rumors that David Boreanaz and Rachel Uchitel had an extramarital relationship — and the fact that she has the same lawyer, Gloria Allred, as the “Bones” star’s unnamed mistress — Allred says Uchitel is not the woman Boreanaz confessed to having an affair with on Monday. And in a statement to the New York Daily News, Allred said she only called Boreanaz’s lawyer, Marty Singer, to talk to him, not looking for money. “We discussed the possible resolution of my client’s legal claims against Mr. Boreanaz by mediation,” Allred said in the statement. “My client has not told her story to the press, but now that Mr. Boreanaz is attacking her, she has decided to tell the story of their relationship so that the truth will come out.” Although Allred wouldn’t confirm the woman’s identity, she did say, “Neither Rachel Uchitel, nor I as her attorney, have made any claims against David Boreanaz, nor does she have any intention of doing so.” Uchitel’s name has been in the news over the past few months because of her alleged affair with Tiger Woods. The woman that had the affair with Boreanaz reportedly got upset with the actor after he told her they were “exclusive,” even though he is married to Jaime Bergman. Singer claimed that the woman left a “threatening” voice mail for Boreanaz. TMZ reports that despite the affair, Boreanaz’s relationship with his wife is now “stable.” The couple have no plans to divorce, and they were spotted in Los Angeles on Tuesday (May 4) shortly after the news broke. Reportedly, Bergman was the one who convinced her husband to go public with the infidelity.

In a statement posted on BretMichaels.com , representatives said the “Celebrity Apprentice” star has been told that he suffers from a side effect that could lead to seizures. “Test results indicate a setback in Bret Michaels condition, a side effect from the brain hemorrhage called hyponatremia a lack of sodium in the body which leads to seizures,” the statement reads. ” … Due to the severity of his condition, Bret Michaels continues to remain hospitalized in an intensive care unit at an undisclosed hospital.” A lifelong Type 1 diabetic, Michaels has been found to suffer from hyponatremia. Caused by a lack of sodium in the body, it can lead to seizures; reps for Michaels wouldn’t confirm whether he had actually suffered seizures recently or in the past. Reps for the rocker say that the unnamed hospital where he is staying plan additional tests to determine the cause of the rupture. The statement from his website also says: “Michaels has undergone a continuous series of tests while in the ICU including angiograms, CT scans, MRIs and transcranial dopplers (TCD’s). Doctors state Michaels is very lucky as his condition could have been fatal. … Doctors remain hopeful for a full recovery and plan to release more specific information next Monday.” Share your well wishes for Bret Michaels in the comments below. Trey Songz Flirts, Cries, Covers Kings of Leon On ‘MTV Unplugged’

It was a chance ‘to be vulnerable,’ the ‘I Invented Sex’ singer tells MTV News. By Jayson Rodriguez Trey Songz performs on “MTV’s Unplugged” Photo: Scott Gries/ MTV NEW YORK — Trey Songz was fun, flirty and fearless during his “MTV Unplugged” performance, which premiered Monday (April 26) on MTV.com. The Grammy-nominated singer recorded the material earlier this month, at Manhattan’s NEP Studio 33, before an intimate audience of (surprise!) mostly women. “Shout-out to the guys with their girls,” a cheeky Trey said, before chuckling as he pointed at a man in the crowd: “He like, ‘Yeah, what up.’ ” The Virginia native showcased a number of the hits from his latest album, Ready, including a mash-up of “I Invented Sex” and Marvin Gaye’s classic “Let’s Get It On.” “You don’t believe me?” he teased a fan during a brief pause after “I Invented Sex.” “I got the blueprint at the crib. “Lemme tell you what I been trying to do, though,” he continued, transitioning into the opening line of the Gaye track. “I been really trying, baby.” Songz, clad in a white T-shirt, dark jeans and a fitted leather jacket, was charismatic throughout his set. At ease onstage, the singer frequently interacted with his eight-piece band, inviting his guitarist and bassist to join him during a performance of Ready ‘s “Black Roses.” And for a cover of Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody,” Songz brought up an overwhelmed admirer from the audience. “A funny thing, I actually forgot a part of the song because I was making sure she was OK,” Trey told MTV News afterward, laughing about the moment. “I said, ‘Are you OK, baby?’ Those are moments that I’ll never forget.” Songz’s onstage guest was all aflutter as he pulled her close, crooning the lyrics directly to her. “I could use somebody,” he sang as he circled her, suggestively. “Someone like you.” Other covers included Jimmy Cliff’s “Many Rivers to Cross” and Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come.” During the latter, and after running through numbers like his own “Say Aah” and “I Need a Girl,” a somber Songz took his jacket off and opened up about his recent good fortune. Taking a seat, he talked about his visit to the White House with Jay-Z and Beyonc

Drake Talks About The Evolution Of Mixtapes

‘A mixtape can’t be the songs that don’t make your album,’ he tells Mixtape Daily. By Shaheem Reid, with reporting by Sway Calloway Drake Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images State of the Streets: Drake Talks Mixtapes On Mondays, we usually bring you our main pick, but we had to start this week by saluting mixtapes. We’re proud that so many MCs are stepping their mixtape game up. The mixtape world is strong, potent and competitive right now. This year alone, we’ve seen Fabolous, Wiz Khalifa, Jim Jones and Asher Roth drop product off in the streets and the Internet. The next few weeks are going to be flooded with ferocity, with Young Jeezy, the Game, T.I. and Rick Ross, just to name a few, dropping soon. Long live the underground! We asked Drake — the guy with the biggest mixtape of the past few years, So Far Gone — what he thought about the state of mixtapes right now. He said everyone has to come with their best. “I think that when creating a mixtape, you have to approach it with a selfless mind-set,” Drake told us. “A mixtape can’t be the songs that don’t make your album, or songs that aren’t good enough to make your album make your mixtape — unless you’re that good. There aren’t that many people that are that good. I’m not that good. That mixtape [ So Far Gone ] is me working my hardest. It wasn’t ‘Oh, here are the songs I’m gonna give away to you ’cause I have better songs coming.’ A mixtape has become an album. “Before, I remember people used to be in the studio cutting songs, and they would be like, ‘Oh, that song is OK. I’ll just put it on my mixtape,’ ” he added. “Now a mixtape is an actual tool. It’s a format you need. You don’t necessarily need it, but it can be useful. Like with Fab and the other guys, I know they do a lot of rapping on other guys’ beats. It’s hard to tour like that, as incredible as it may be. Now Wayne, when the No Ceilings set comes on, it’s ridiculous. It’s hard to rap over other people’s songs and have it be timeless. With So Far Gone, when I did flip other people’s songs, half the time people didn’t know what song it was. I tried to pick stuff that was new or rare or just like an album cut. But yeah, man, if I use somebody else’s beat, I try to make a song out of it.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines or follow the Mixtape Daily team on Twitter: @shaheemreid and @mongosladenyc . Bret Michaels In Critical Condition With Brain Hemorrhage

Poison singer reportedly rushed to hospital late Thursday night. By James Montgomery Bret Michaels Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images Late Thursday night, rocker Bret Michaels was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where doctors discovered he had suffered a massive brain hemorrhage, People magazine is reporting. Michaels, 47, is currently in critical condition. A source told People that he was first taken to the hospital after complaining of “an excruciating headache,” and upon examination, doctors learned he had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, or bleeding at the base of his brain stem. “After several CAT scans, MRIs and an angiogram, [doctors] decided to keep Michaels in the ICU and are running several tests to determine the cause [of the hemorrhage],” the source told People. “[It] will be touch and go for the next few days while he is under intense observation.” MTV News’ e-mails to Michaels’ reps were not answered by press time. Earlier this month, Michaels — who is also diabetic — was admitted to a hospital in San Antonio with what he believed was a stomach flu, but doctors diagnosed him with acute appendicitis and rushed him into emergency surgery . Following the procedure, his spokesperson said Michaels was “doing well and beginning the recovery process.” Michaels remained in the hospital under his doctor’s care and then was transferred to a rehabilitation facility that specializes in diabetic patients. While in recovery, he wrote a note to his fans thanking them for their support and expressed his desire to return to the current season of NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice,” which he is still in the running to win. A statement posted Wednesday on Michaels’ website once again thanked fans for their well wishes and said that he was rescheduling the shows he was forced to cancel after undergoing the appendectomy. Miley Cyrus Prefers Kurt Cobain Over Justin Bieber

At the premiere of ‘The Last Song,’ Miley dishes about ‘American Idol’ and Bieber fever. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Ryan J. Downey Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth at the “Last Song” premiere Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images This week, not only did Miley Cyrus get to serve as a mentor on “American Idol,” but she also got to hang out with pop music’s newest idol, Justin Bieber, when both appeared on “The View.” But she admitted that her 10-year-old sister, Noah, was a lot more excited to meet the 16-year-old than she was. “Bieber fever … I’m not necessarily a fan. I don’t listen to that kind of music,” she told MTV News at the red carpet for her new flick, “The Last Song,” on Thursday night in Los Angeles. “I like Kurt Cobain. [He] is like my dream boyfriend.” Noah, however, was thrilled to get a very public shout-out from the “Baby” singer. “But my little sister was obsessed with him, and he actually gave her a shout-out on Twitter,” she said. “And I thought that was really sweet. So I was like, ‘Thank you so much. That meant a lot too.’ … He called her a cutie, and I haven’t stopped hearing about it.” Meanwhile, Miley was still thrilled about being chosen to mentor the Idols this week. “It’s cool. I was the youngest mentor, so I was excited that people really cared what I had to say and were inspired by me,” she said. “And it was great.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Last Song.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .
