The swimming trunks Daniel Craig wore as Bond in his first stint as the sexy agent in Casino Royale sold at auction for almost $72,000 at a charity auction in London. Judi Dench ‘s comments on the cleanliness of the shorts may have also triggered a jump in the price. Dench, who has played Bond’s boss M in the series and continues in the role in the upcoming latest installment Skyfall introduced the suit at the auction. She noted – apparently jokingly, “All I’m going to tell you is they’re unwashed.” Also sold was an Aston Martin DBS that Craig drove in Quantum of Solace , which the gavel his for $390,000. And a copy of the orchestral score to singer Adele’s theme song for Skyfall , which she signed along with co-writer Paul Epworth sold for $22,000. Altogether, 50 pieces of James Bond memorabilia sold at Christie’s on Friday in London, marking the 50th anniversary of the first Bond movie, Dr. No . The money raised went to several charities. By Josh Wigler Daniel Craig in “Skyfall” “Skyfall” might be “done” for James Bond, but it’s only just beginning for Agent 007’s most devoted fans. The world got its first look at the 23rd Bond flick Monday (May 21) with the release of the first official “Skyfall” teaser trailer , putting Daniel Craig back into the British spy’s iconic tuxedo for the first time since 2008’s “Quantum of Solace.” Even with this early sneak peek (the film doesn’t land in theaters until November 9), the exact who’s, what’s and why’s surrounding “Skyfall” remain shrouded in mystery. The little we do know is hardly elaborated upon in the trailer: Dame Judi Dench’s M has dark secrets in her past, secrets that are coming back to haunt her and her fellow agents, and it’s up to Bond to put a stop to the madness. Somehow, Javier Bardem is involved to terrorize our hero, reliably silly bad-guy haircut firmly along for the ride, but we don’t see Bardem and his bleach-blonde ‘do in the teaser, at least not up close and personal. Still, even a teaser as secretive as this one isn’t without its share of decodable mysteries. Keep reading for five key scenes from the “Skyfall” teaser. ‘Done’ Bond’s interrogation at the outset of the trailer does more than inform the viewer that our favorite super-spy has Agent Provocateur lingerie on the mind. When the game of free-word association arrives at the term “skyfall,” Bond tenses up, thinking back on a dark memory that involves him entering a room, gun drawn, with a dead body already slumped in a chair. (It’s a split-second scene, viewable around the 29-second mark.) Though the “skyfall” referred to in the title and the interrogation remains a mystery, it’s clearly linked to a painful memory that Bond would rather forget … and given the horrors he’s seen in his kill-happy career, the events of the Skyfall mission must be truly traumatic. Killer Guilt Agent 007 isn’t the only one looking back in anger. As has been known for some time, the normally secretive M’s history plays a pivotal role in the story of “Skyfall,” and we get our first hints of that in two key shots in the new trailer. The most obvious one comes later; M and Bond wordlessly stare off at a bleak, hilly landscape, marking a rare occasion where the two agents are out on the field together. But there’s another, easier-to-miss moment involving M at the teaser’s 45-second mark. It’s M, not Bond, who stands silently in a room filled with caskets, the U.K. flag draped over each and every one. By Christina Garibaldi Daniel Craig Photo: MTV News James Bond fans fear not, there will be plenty of action in the much-anticipated upcoming Bond flick, “Skyfall.” For months, the rumor mill had Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes stripping away the action for the 23rd Bond movie in order to make a more dramatic movie that reflected the emotional depth of the characters. But when MTV News recently visited the London set of “Skyfall” , James Bond himself, Daniel Craig , was quick to dispel those rumors, assuring fans that he and Mendes have struck a balance between drama and the action that Bond flicks are known for. “I sat down with Sam Mendes two years ago, three years ago — now it’s getting on four — and we discussed what we wanted to do and how we wanted to do it, and he’s one of the biggest Bond fans around,” said Craig, who’s taking on the 007 role for the third time. “He’s not out to do an angst-ridden movie, some chamber piece about people’s emotions,” Craig continued. “It’s a Bond movie. But we both agreed that if he cast the film, which he did really well, and we brought in older characters and new characters, that we’d have something really rich and sort of exciting to watch.” The cast includes Judi Dench (playing “M” for the seventh time), Ralph Fiennes in a mysterious role and Oscar winner Javier Bardem . “I think it’s a James Bond movie and this movie is going to have everything that any James Bond fan would expect and even more,” Bardem told us. “Also the emotional aspect of it and the action aspect of the movie as well, it’s going to contain a lot of surprises for the audience.” And Bardem should know what fans want as a longtime fan of the franchise. “I’ve seen many, many James Bond movies,” he said. “It’s fun to be part of one of them. It’s really fun, but again, it’s also about the people … around this movie that is really exciting to work with — amazing cast, a great director and great character to play. 30-year-old Quamine Taylor tries on Diddy’s clothes, eats his food and drinks his liquor during his stay. By Kate Callahan Diddy Photo: Getty Images Diddy ‘s intruder strikes again. Quamine Taylor, an apparent fan of the rap mogul, was arrested on April 1 when he was found squatting in Diddy’s mansion in East Hampton, New York. E! News reveals that 30-year-old Taylor was trying on Diddy’s clothing, eating his food and drinking his liquor during his stay at the mansion. According to a report from the East Hampton Town Police Department, Taylor took a train from New York City, then a cab to Diddy’s estate on March 31. Taylor then entered the mansion through an unlocked basement door but tripped an alarm. When a police officer and an alarm company representative arrived to deal with the triggered alarm, Taylor successfully convinced them that he had permission from Diddy to stay at the mansion. Taylor wasn’t removed from the grounds for another 24 hours, when a caretaker for the estate discovered him and finally called the police. The last time Taylor was caught creeping on Diddy’s Hamptons estate was back in June 2001. Taylor was found lounging near the pool at the mansion and somehow managed to convince security that he was Diddy’s cousin. He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so Robert was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suit Angelina’s hand.” We can hear all the ladies in our office swooning, but that’s not the only exciting news for fans of the Hollywood power couple. Pitt and Jolie may star together alongside Michael Fassbender in the forthcoming movie ” The Counselor .” Deadline Hollywood reports that director Ridley Scott wanted Pitt and Javier Bardem for the movie. As he’s close to getting them both, rumors are circulating that Jolie might also be in talks to play the female lead. She and Scott have been collaborating on a Gertrude Bell biopic, which may have led to the rumors. With Brangelina’s engagement now official, it would make sense that the actors would want to remain close to one another. But Pitt and Jolie wouldn’t be the only ones to reunite via “The Counselor.” This would be the first time Scott and Pitt work together since Scott directed “Thelma & Louise,” a film that undoubtedly launched Pitt’s career. “The Counselor” was written by Cormac McCarthy. It follows a well-respected lawyer (Fassbender) who gets involved in the drug business and quickly finds himself in a situation that’s more than he can handle. If cast in the film, Pitt would play a shady middleman and Bardem would be Fassbender’s associate. The movie is said to start filming in June and Fox is currently negotiating to distribute. Ah, Mr. Bond, we’ve been waiting for you — and at last 007 is back, several years after his last screen adventure. Producers announced Thursday that filming has begun on “Skyfall,” the delayed 23rd film in the series and Daniel Craig’s third outing as the suave British superspy. Craig, who has brought a hard edge to his portrayal, told reporters that the movie, directed by Sam Mendes and shot in London, Scotland, Turkey and China, would be “Bond with a capital B.” Craig said he was “tremendously excited” to be stepping back into the role for the first time since 2008′s “Quantum of Solace.” Work on the film was postponed, and Bond’s future looked uncertain, when studio MGM filed for bankruptcy in 2010. But MGM’s new management and EON Productions announced earlier this year that the spy would live to fight another day. Craig will be joined by Spanish star Javier Bardem as Bond’s nemisis, while British actors Albert Finney, Ralph Fiennes and Ben Whishaw will play as-yet-undisclosed roles. Judi Dench returns as spy chief M and the film introduces two new Bond girls — English actress Naomie Harris as a field agent named Eve and French performer Berenice Marlohe as “a glamorous, enigmatic character” named Severine.
