Gwyneth Paltrow To Guest-Star On ‘Glee’

‘Gwyneth is a great singer,’ creator Ryan Murphy tells the BBC. By Mawuse Ziegbe Gwyneth Paltrow Photo: Stephen Lovekin/ Getty The hallways of William McKinley High are looking more and more like A-list red carpets. The hit show “Glee,” which just kicked off its second season, boasts upcoming cameos from Britney Spears and Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem ready to rock the small screen. Now, another superstar is slated to drop in on the song-and-dance powerhouse: Gwyneth Paltrow. “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy recently told the BBC that the Academy Award winner and “Iron Man” star will showcase her pipes in two upcoming episodes in the second season as a substitute teacher for Will Schuester (played by Matthew Morrison). Murphy insisted that Paltrow, who is already renowned for her acting skills, can rip the mic as well. “Gwyneth is a great singer,” Murphy said. “She’s done it a little bit, but I really want to show it off and show everyone how great she is.” Paltrow is no stranger to the music scene. In addition to crooning in the 2000 movie “Duets” (and being married to superstar Coldplay frontman Chris Martin), Paltrow portrays a drug-addled country belter attempting a comeback in the upcoming movie “Country Strong.” “I played a country music singer. It’s all new, original work. It was incredible,” Paltrow told MTV News in May. Paltrow said she worked on building her musical skill set for the film, which features country hitmaker Tim McGraw and fellow music-dabbling actress Leighton Meester . “I had to learn how to play guitar, and I took singing lessons. It was a real challenge, but I felt like I pretty much pulled it off.” Paltrow’s song “Country Strong,” which she recorded for the movie, hit the Web in July. So in the meantime, why not help Movieline caption a photo that leaked from the set of his even newer film, currently known only as Untitled Terrence Malick Project ? This one stars Ben Affleck, Javier Bardem, Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams and Olga Kurylenko, and the photo below was taken when Malick and a small crew were shooting in Oklahoma at the Indian Summer Festival. Cory Monteith Debunks Javier Bardem on Glee

Listen up, Gleeks. Cory Monteith wants to clear up a few casting rumors (that Movieline helped sort yesterday ) regarding the Fox show’s sophomore season. Just last night, the star tweeted that “Javier Bardem, Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Elvis, Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise and you are not appearing in season 2.” While Monteith is probably right about Elvis, perhaps the Glee cast member didn’t receive the memo about Bardem, who insists that he will be playing a Spanish heavy metal rock star who befriends Artie. Javier Bardem To Guest-Star On ‘Glee’

Oscar winner is expected to appear as a ‘rock star’ on the musical hit show. By Mawuse Ziegbe Javier Bardem Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images “Glee” has scored fans by covering infectious pop hits from musical mega-stars, but the smash TV show is also lining up some A-list Hollywood talent for its upcoming season. Academy Award-winning actor Javier Bardem is expected to guest-star on “Glee” when the show returns for season two. Entertainment Weekly reports that the Oscar-winning Spaniard will play a “rock star” who makes friends with Gleek Artie (played by Kevin McHale). The magazine’s website reports that Bardem became a fan of the show after viewing the entire first season of the breakout TV phenomenon in a single week. Apparently the actor, who is known for more dramatic flicks such as “No Country for Old Men” and “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” is up for the chance to be a part of the song-and-dance juggernaut. “We’re going to rock the house,” Bardem said, adding that he plans to mix up the show’s catalog of dance-floor-friendly fare. “We’re going to do some heavy metal,” said Bardem. ” Spanish heavy metal, which is the worst. ” The entertainment website also reports that the upcoming guest role comes after Bardem brought up the idea to “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy. Bardem and Murphy worked together on this summer’s Julia Roberts-helmed flick, “Eat, Pray, Love,” which is based on the best-selling memoir. Bardem isn’t the only Hollywood heavyweight to pass through the halls of William McKinley High. “How I Met Your Mother” star and Emmy Awards host Neil Patrick Harris appeared on the show, Broadway diva Idina Menzel popped up as a coach of the rival team, Vocal Adrenaline, and Olivia Newton-John stopped by to revamp her 1981 hit “Physical.” Related Photos The Year In ‘Glee’ What Other ‘Glee’ Music Videos Do We Want To See?
