The Voice Recap: Steals Galore!

With the Blind Auditions out of the way, the hopefuls went to war with each other to secure their spot at the next stage of the competition, and it paved the way for some emotional scenes.  Rascal Flatts advised Blake Shelton, Kelly Rowland joined Jennifer Hudson, Joe Jonas partnered with Adam Levine and Bill Ray Cyrus joined forces with Miley Cyrus.  Lucas Holliday vs. Megan McNeal – “My Prerogative”  Jennifer stressed that it was vital for them to focus on their own performance as opposed to worrying that the other was getting all the attention.  Despite positive comments for both contestants, Jennifer sent Megan home and kept Lucas around until the next stage of the competition. When the pair were put together, Lucas was the clear winner.  Moriah Formica vs. Shilo Gold – American Woman Miley implied that this was a terrible choice for her, but when you think about it, Moriah completely owned the stage during the battle. Shilo was decent, but no match for Moriah.  Moriah went on to win the vote of Miley, sending Shilo packing.  Keisha Renee vs. Noah Mac – “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” This one was more of a tough choice. Both singers put so much effort into ensuring they would secure a victory, and they even took a lot of feedback from the coaches into consideration.  That’s the best thing you ask for of a participant during one of these shows. Unfortunately for Noah, Blake thought Keisha pulled it off better.  Chris Weaver defeated Kathrina Feigh  – “Dangerous Woman.” In rehearsals, Chris got an early lead on Kathrina, and you could tell Kelly thought so. It was almost like everyone had agreed Chris was advancing and Kelly’s fate was up in the air.  When it came to the actual performance, Kathrina sounded like she was whimpering throughout, while Chris turned in a solid performance. Jennifer kept Chris around, but it was not the end of the road for Kathrina.  Blake swooped in to give her a shot on his team. We’re not quite sure it was a wise idea, but time will tell whether it will come back to bite him.  Brooke Simpson vs. Sophia Bollman – “You’re a Big Girl Now” Both Brooke and Sophia brought a lot to the table, so you can only imagine our surprise that one of them got through and the other was sent home.  The performance was rock-solid, and the two squared off against each another with class. Miley kept Brooke around, but nobody thought it was a good idea to steal Sophia.  What a shame.  Adam Pearce vs. Whitney Fenimore- “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” What do you get when you put two of the most promising singers together? One of the biggest disappointments of the season. Both of them appeared as early frontrunners, but putting them together was just wrong.  There was nothing about their voices together that really worked. Adam scraped a win by the skin of his teeth, and Whitney was stolen by Miley.  We are so glad she’s getting a second chance.  With the Battle Rounds in full swing, it should be fun to find out who goes next.  The Voice continues Tuesday night on NBC! The Voice Recap: A Diamond in the Rough

The Voice may be bringing a bit of the same after 13 seasons on the air, but Jennifer Hudson is a welcome addition to the panel. She oozes positivity, and that’s something required when coaching many hopefuls through the various stages of the process.  It was Blind Auditions Night Two, and we had some very solid performances to run down.  Who made it through to the next round? Let’s run down the performances below … Keisha Renee  “I Can’t Stop Loving You” Keisha’s song choice was on point. At this stage, it’s important to show off your vocal range, and Keisha definitely accomplished that goal.  She was confident and knew exactly what she needed to do to get to where she wanted in her career. Blake Shelton was big on her and quickly snapped her up for his team.  Maharasyi – “Tell Me Something Good” While Keisha chose the perfect song, the same could not be said for Maharasyi. You would think with her already having a recording career, she would know which song to sing to show off her singing voice. Luckily for her, Jennifer saw the potential and turned her chair around, but we can’t help but think it was a mistake.  Dylan Gerard – “Say You Won’t Let Go” Dylan did not sound great, but Jennifer helped him out and told him to change some things. This helped him sound way better, and Adam noticed this.  So, Adam got another one to join him! Red Marlow – “Swingin'” Red had a great country voice, and he had the perfect song to go along with it. We could definitely imagine him as a recording artist, and the coaches thought so.  Ultimately, he joined Team Blake.  Ashland Craft – “You Are My Sunshine” Ashland was the best singer of the night. It was perhaps one of the best auditions ever, and that was partly down to her confidence about the whole thing.  The coaches took notice, and she ultimately joined Team Miley. Miley is the best place for Ashland because we could see them dueting together.  So, that’s a wrap on Night 2, you guys. Which performers did you like best? Hit the comments below! Kelly Clarkson Joins The Voice, Sticks It to American Idol

So much for all that Idol chatter. A few days after rumors surfaced that Kelly Clarkson would be a judge on the revamped version of American Idol, the original winner of has come out and stunned the television universe: She will, indeed, be a judge on an upcoming season of a beloved, long-time running singing competition. But it will not be the show that made her famous. It will be The Voice. Clarkson made the unexpected announcement on Thursday afternoon alongside Blake Shelton on his Facebook page as part of a live video. The two artists will joined on season 14 by fellow longtime coach Adam Levine, while a fourth coach will be confirmed at a later date. “I’m so excited to join The Voice at NBC,” Clarkson said in a statement. She added: “We’ve gone back and forth about a role as a coach for years, but the timing hasn’t been right until now. “I have always loved appearing on the show as an adviser or performer and established an amazing relationship with the network during my Christmas special. “I can’t wait to turn my chair and see the faces of up-and-coming artists and provide them with the help and support they’ve needed to break into the industry.” Proving she’s ready for the typical weekly trash talk among panelists, Clarkson concluded as follows: “Watch out Shelton, I’m comin’ to win!” There’s also been talk, meanwhile, that Jennifer Hudson will come on board The Voice Season 13 as a judge. Said Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Reality Group, NBC Entertainment, in a statement of his own: “Kelly has been a part of The Voice family for many years as an adviser and performer. We are thrilled she has chosen to join us as a coach to mentor the next generation through our unique vocal boot camp. “Every time Kelly Clarkson sings you are reminded what an incredible voice really is. “We are looking forward to the sound of Kelly Clarkson on The Voice.” It was announced on Tuesday that ABC has agreed on a deal to revive American Idol. So Precious: Kelly Rowland Says Son Titan And Blue Ivy Are Close Like Cousins

Kelly Rowland’s Son Is A Handful Kelly Rowland says she would consider having another baby, but for now her hands are full with toddler son Titan Jewell who has been tearing up her crib. Rowland talked to PEOPLE at Friday’s March of Dimes Celebration of Babies at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles. “One more is just fine!” she joked. “I feel like he’s a handful —drawing on my walls and cussing me out!” “He’s awesome and I’m so blessed to have him,” she says, adding that husband Tim Weatherspoon “is an excellent dad. We have a nice little unit, us three.” Kelly also said her 2-year-old is more into being active than musical but may have more talent than he’s letting on right now. “He is a boy’s boy. But, if he hears myself or anybody singing, he’s going to repeat it,” she says. “I can’t wait ’till Jenny [Hudson] gets to the house so we can play, vocally, together. He’s a sports little guy, trains guy, planes guy.” Kelly also said despite the 2 year age gap, Titan has found Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy to be a great playmate: “They are extremely close. It’s the sweetest thing. It’s the greatest thing about friendship, when you’re able to grow up together and your children grow up together,” she explains. “They act like cousins.” Awww so sweet.
