‘Green Book’ Screenwriter Deletes Twitter Account After Anti-Muslim Tweet Surfaces

Source: Presley Ann Photo / Presley Ann Photo Nick Vallelonga, the screenwriter behind the acclaimed drama Green Book starring Mahershala Ali , has found himself in hot water after a controversial tweet surfaced. The 2015 tweet supported anti-Muslim sentiment stirred up by Donald Trump, and Vallelonga has since deleted his Twitter account. Variety writes : “@realDonaldTrump 100% correct,” the Nov. 2015 tweet read. “Muslims in Jersey City cheering when towers went down. I saw it, as you did, possibly on local CBS news.” At a November rally, Trump had said, “Hey, I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down. And I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering.” ABC’s George Stephanopoulos challenged Trump on the claim, but the then-presidential candidate insisted that he saw Muslims celebrating with his own eyes. The outlet added that fans on Twitter pointed out to Vallelonga that Green Book ‘s leading man in Ali is a Muslim. Since its debut, Green Book has endured critique from the family of Dr. Don Shirley, who Ali plays in the film. Nick Vallelonga wrote Green Book. My industry just gave him a Golden Globe for writing. This remains on his timeline. Mahershala Ali is a Muslim, and a beautiful, generous and kind man. This is all just too disgusting. pic.twitter.com/LYVbpFZFUL — Jordan Horowitz (@jehorowitz) January 10, 2019 — Photo: Presley Ann Photo

Jesus Take The Wheel: NYC Construction Worker Killed After Tape Measure Falls 50 Stories & Hits Him In the Head

NYC Construction Worker Killed By Tape Measure That Fell 50 Stories via Gawker In a freak accident that does nothing to calm your fears of objects falling from the sky and killing you, a construction worker in Jersey City died this morning after a one-pound tape measure fell 50 stories and hit him in the head. According to the Associated Press, the 50-year-old man, who has not yet been identified, was apparently not wearing a hardhat when the tape measure fell, ricocheting off construction equipment below and hitting him in the head. From NBC New York: “As he walked over, a 1-pound tape measure fell off the belt of a contractor working on the 50th floor, bounced off a piece of metal construction equipment about 10 feet off the ground and hit him in the head, police said. He was knocked unconscious and later died at the hospital.” The Jersey Journal reports that the man was delivering sheet rock to the construction site for two 50-story buildings attached to a hotel. Chris Pine vs. Tom Hardy: Who Would You Rather…

In This Means War , Chris Pine and Tom Hardy play CIA operatives battling for the heart of Reese Witherspoon. So it’s only natural for us to pit these actors against each in real life, too, isn’t it? Study the looks of Pine and Hardy at the Hollywood premiere of this romantic comedy (try to imagine the latter without his abundance of facial hair if that helps) and answer the pressing question that Witherspoon’s character faces in the movie: Who would you rather be interrogated by privately… if you know what we mean?

Jersey City Wine Shop: No Snooki Allowed!

The Jersey City, N.J., booze emporium next door to where Snooki and JWoww are filming their upcoming Jersey Shore spinoff apparently wants nothing to do with them. So adamantly that they’re banned from the store! In a morally commendable, financially disastrous move, the place wants Snooki to steer completely clear … even posting a sign on the door telling her to keep the hell out. Talk about turning away a couple of potentially loyal customers . JWoww isn’t welcome there either, so the ladies will have to find a place to buy their binge drinking supplies somewhere else. Somehow we imagine they’ll manage. The general manager at the wine shop said that while the sign says “No Snooki,” it applies to her BFF too: “Even if Jwoww shows up at our door she will not be let in.” “The only thing they are good for is ridicule and amusement. There’s no upside business wise; the potential downside is God knows what. Why feed the embarrassment?” This guy is our new hero.
