MTV News takes a look at the romance between ‘Jersey Shore’ star Snooki and her one-time beau Emilio. By Jocelyn Vena Snooki Photo: Jerritt Clark/ Getty Images The flame that burned between Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Emilio Masella may have only burned for a short time, but its flame was bright — and it was visible on this season of “Jersey Shore” Early on in season two, Snooki declared that she was through with her search for true love. But it seems that while you can take Snooki out of the Jersey Shore, you can’t take the Jersey Shore out of Snooki. When the season opened, Snooki declared herself “done Snookin’ for love”; at the time, she had been in a relationship with Emilio for two and a half months. In January, she spoke to MTV News about Emilio and the chemistry the two of them shared. I like that he’s a dork, a guy that can laugh and joke around, and he also is a guido,” she said. “So, it’s like the perfect guy — so we just click, and we’re so hot together. “How did I meet him? Facebook,” she continued. “That’s sad, huh? I met him before the show. We talked on Facebook a couple weeks before the show. It wasn’t anything too serious. I know he’s not talking to me because I’m on the show, ’cause he knew me before, kind of. My dad’s a little worried about it.” Even then, though, Snooki expressed her concern over her relationship with Emilio, especially given all the temptations of life in the spotlight. “I am worried because, you know, I like the kid a lot. But … if there’s, like, an opportunity [during the filming of ‘Jersey Shore’ season two], that’s going to be fun.” Snooki wasn’t lying. When she and castmate Vinny shared a bed this season, it caused a rift between her and Emilio. But despite that breach of trust, Emilio isn’t giving up. “I’m heartbroken. I came here to see Snooki and I don’t know if she wants to see me,” Emilio told MTV News while visiting Seaside Heights, New Jersey, recently. “Hopefully it’ll all turn out good and I can get my girl back. If not, I’m gonna have to move on &8212; I mean I seen her holding some other guy’s hand the other day, [and] it kind of pissed me off. “But I’m trying to stay good, not fight. I’m a sweet boy. You may to have to wait a little longer for that Snooktionary — the reference book that Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi has threatened to have someone ghostwrite for her — because government officials have turned down the Jersey Shore star’s application to trademark her name for “printed matter” purposes. The Patent and Trademark Office was concerned that buyers might confuse the orange guidette with a yellow fictional cat named Snooky who is featured in the popular children’s book Adventures of Snooky . Polizzi has the option of either submitting evidence to support her case, or interpreting this as divine intervention to shy away from the literary world forever. [ TSG ]

In “Eat Pray Love,” Julia Roberts decides to abandon her life as an unhappy working mother and embark on a globe-crossing trip to discover the keys to true personal and professional contentment. And on the “Eat Pray Love” red carpet on Tuesday evening in New York City, we forced Roberts and her castmates to make a series of tough choices — choices that may not have life-altering consequences but which most certainly demand attention … and generated a whole lot of giggles. First, we asked the stars which were the true words to live by: “eat, pray, love” or, as the “Jersey Shore” mantra goes, “gym, tan, laundry”? Then we got to the nitty-gritty: If these celebs had to give up one thing — eating, faith or sex — which would they part with? Not that all of the castmembers were pleased to be forced into making such a life-changing (albeit hypothetical) choice. “Why? Why? Why do I have to?” Roberts asked with a smile. “I can’t. No. No. But I don’t have to.” OK, OK. Director Ryan Murphy, conversely, decided he could cut breakfast, lunch and dinner from his daily routine. “I’m going to say I’m going to give up the eating and let love be my food,” he declared. Billy Crudup, meanwhile, seemed to misunderstand our fundamental question. “Did you say laundry?” he said with a groan. “Because I’ll give up laundry.” And then we came to Javier Bardem, who made quite the convincing argument for indulging in eating, faith and sex all at once. “Why do I have to choose?” he said “No, the movie is called ‘Eat Pray Love,’ the three of them together. Exactly, we all need all three. The movie and the book speaks about that. We need to feed ourselves with the three of them. And the pray thing, I’m not a believer or I’m not a practitioner. I don’t practice religion, so but we all have faith in something. So, we all need to pray and close our eyes when things go wrong, right?” Which would you give up if you had to choose?
