Britney Spears ‘Gets A Kick Out Of Fist Pumping,’ Pauly D Says

‘Jersey Shore’ star teases his gig with Spears this weekend in Puerto Rico. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway Giancarlo Esposito in “Breaking Bad” Photo: AMC Pauly D has a lot of experience playing shows with Britney Spears . He not only opened for her in Las Vegas earlier this year during the taping of her “I Am the Femme Fatale” MTV special , but he later hit the road with Spears for her Femme Fatale tour . So opening for the princess of pop as she wraps up her world tour this weekend won’t be too difficult for the “Jersey Shore” star. He’s slated to appear with her on December 10 in Puerto Rico. It’s the very last stop on the months-long, sprawling trek around the globe. Since Pauly last hit the road with pop’s ultimate femme fatale , he told MTV News that he has been keeping in touch with his pal. “Yeah [we keep in contact], oh yeah, for sure,” he said. “A lot of tweets.” While Pauly played it coy during our chat about the upcoming gig, he did give us just enough hints to let us know that the show is indeed all set for Saturday. “There’s rumors; rumors have it that I might be on that tour,” he joked. “I’m not sure. I’d love to. I hope so. I like Puerto Rico and it’s nice this time of year.” Is there any chance that Britney might make an appearance on Pauly’s in-the-works solo reality show while he’s out there with her? “She’s busy. She’s really busy and I’d love to link up with her and get her on this ’cause doing her tour, that was another dream for me, to do an artist’s tour. I’ve been a fan of Britney my whole life, so it’s been great for me.” “She was happy for me,” he continued. “She was like, ‘Oh you’re going to be fist pumping on the show.’ She gets a kick out of the fist pumping.” If that appearance doesn’t pan out, DJ Pauly D needn’t worry too much. He just announced his deal with 50 Cent’s G-Note Records , a step that should help to take his DJ career to the next level. 50 spoke to MTV News about the deal earlier this week, teasing some big things. “Pauly’s project is not all his performance on the actual records,” Fif explained of the “hit record” he hopes to make with the DJ, set for release in 2012. “It’s more like what you would get from a DJ Khaled or DJ Drama but also what you would get from David Guetta — so it’s a cross between those two worlds, and I think it’s exciting.” Fans of Pauly D are also pumped for the latest season of his hit MTV series “Jersey Shore.” Just this week, a season 5 trailer dropped and there seems to be enough drama, GTL and smushing to go around for everyone. “There was a lot of tension in [Italy], because we were away from our friends, away from our family, so all we had was each other — that’s it,” Pauly said. “So now we literally ran to Jersey, because we missed it so much, and we just shared that bond, because we’ve been there before, so we enjoyed it with everybody this year. It was really one of my best years , I think.” The fifth season of “Jersey Shore” premieres Thursday, January 5, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Snooki Sneaks Into Our Top 10 TV Characters Of 2011

‘Parks and Recreation’ antihero Ron Swanson lands at #1, with ‘Breaking Bad’ meth cook Walter and the ‘Jersey Shore’ guidette behind him. By MTV News staff Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi in “Jersey Shore” Photo: MTV It’s all come down to this: Only 10 remain in our countdown of the Top 50 TV Characters of 2011, and the results might surprise you. It goes without saying that one of our favorite “Jersey Shore” stars found her way toward the top of our list, but it’s a certain “Parks and Rec” administrator who took home all the bacon (and all the eggs while he was at it). Combine those characters with two nods for “Breaking Bad,” an Emmy-winning “Game of Thrones” actor and one comedian who risked his very life to bring some of the biggest laughs the small screen has ever enjoyed, and you’ll find yourself looking at our Top 10 TV Characters of 2011. Stay tuned to MTV News for interviews with several of our top honorees. See our Top 50 TV Characters of 2011, 50 to 41, including a masked bachelor and dashing novelist/crime-fighter. 10. Gus Fring, “Breaking Bad” I’ve never smoked meth, but my guess is the effects are similar to the feeling shooting through my body when the crank kingpin — SPOILER ALERT! — exited the smoky scene of a suicide bombing, straightened his tie and revealed that in place of his face was a steaming mass of Fring-like goo. He was in death as he was in life: debonair, a spiller of blood and totally goddamn frightening. Contemplating a “Breaking Bad” without Gus makes us want to reach for the pipe. -Eric Ditzian 9. Constance Langdon, “American Horror Story” Both television and the horror genre are no strangers to terrible mothers, but Jessica Lange’s deliciously dark Constance on “American Horror Story” truly takes the cake. How many moms have you known to allow their children to die in a house that keeps the dead’s spirits locked in our mortal realm for all eternity? The two-time Oscar winner marks her first regular television gig with “AHS,” and it’s a phenomenal debut. As awful as Constance can be, as mean and nasty as she gets, she’s impossible to look away from. And, so help us, you actually feel bad for this woman and her cursed womb. Only an actress of Lange’s caliber could make the ruthless Constance into someone you can root for despite yourself — and with only one season under her belt, we can only imagine the “Horror” Lange will bring in the future. -Josh Wigler 8. Fat Mac, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” Remember Robert De Niro’s turn in “Raging Bull,” when he gained 60 pounds to play Jake La Motta? Of course you don’t; there weren’t any sparkling vampires in “Raging Bull.” Long story short, De Niro packed on the lb’s and subsequently won every award on the planet. Rob McElhenney, on the other hand, added a solid 50 pounds of fat to play Mac on the current season of “Sunny,” and he’ll be lucky to be nominated for a Blockbuster Entertainment Award. So let’s honor him here — not only for ruining his body for the sake of comedy, but for spoiling one of TV’s oldest tropes: As shows go on, characters don’t age, they get better looking. On the seventh season of “Sunny,” Mac looks worse than ever, yet his best moments — carrying around a trash bag filled with chimichangas, insisting he’s just “cultivating mass” — steal the show. Whether it’s method acting or some sociological experiment, you’ve got to appreciate McElhenney’s willingness to bust boundaries — and waistbands. -James Montgomery See our Top 50 TV Characters of 2011, 40 to 31, including a “hootie hoo!”-hollering chef and funnyman talk-show host. 7. Milania Giudice, “Real Housewives of New Jersey “You have such muscular legs when you do gymnastics, sometimes you gotta rest your toes,” Gia sang to little sister Milania — both daughters of “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Teresa Giudice — on her fifth birthday. The song is irrelevant to all the adorable little Milania represents, but I just love that line. Milania remained blissfully unaware of the drama her mother and castmates stirred up on “RHONJ” and instead delivered such irreverent pearls as “give me pizza, you old troll” to her father and climbed onto couches, into supermarket freezer displays and, most importantly, into our hearts. -Rya Backer 6. Phil Dunphy, “Modern Family” In the sea of characters on “Modern Family,” the biggest one of all just might be Phil Dunphy, played by Emmy winner Ty Burrell . Prime time’s most well-meaning husband, dad and son-in-law, Phil lives his life with his own joie de vivre, blind to the fact that sometimes (when he lets his feet get off the ground) he borders on the ridiculous. He’s over-the-top and underappreciated, but at the end of the day, it’s his love for life, shenanigans and family that keeps audiences, and the Dunphy clan, coming back for more. -Jocelyn Vena 5. Eric Northman, “True Blood” There are plenty of badass bloodsuckers littering vampire canon, so what makes Eric Northman (played by Alexander Skarsg

‘Three Stooges’ Trailer Delivers Slapstick And Snooki

Farrelly brothers bring the Stooges into present day but leave their classic comedy style intact. By Kara Warner Will Sasso, Chris Diamantopoulos and Sean Hayes in “The Three Stooges” Photo: 20th Century Fox The Farrelly brothers have finally unleashed the first trailer for their “Three Stooges” movie, and if you’re a fan of Larry, Moe and Curly’s classic slapstick, consider it an early Christmas gift. The nearly two-minute spot opens at the Sisters of Mercy Orphanage, where a burlap sack containing the baby Stooges is dropped at the doorstep, complete with the first eye-poke gag. The rest of the trailer features a smorgasbord of classic “Three Stooges” quotes, gags and slapstick, with a couple of modern twists thrown in. There’s the familiar “spread out!” shout when the boys prep for a fight, Curly’s panting and dog barks when he spots a beautiful woman (one of whom is played by “Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara) and their “Mind your P’s and Q’s” gag. There are lobsters stuck to faces and dropped in pants, plus countless objects thrown at our main characters. In one scene, the guys are introduced to the iPhone, which Curly puts up to his eye to try and blink-talk with someone. The final shot of the trailer features some very familiar faces: JWoww and Snooki from our very own “Jersey Shore.” “Hiya, Snook, I gotcha a present,” Larry says, holding out a cardboard box to an unsuspecting Snooki. “Go on, open it.” Snooki opens the top and a hand jumps out and pokes her in the eye. “Owww!” she yells, and the trailer fades to black. After years of false starts and attempts to reboot the classic eye-poking, head-bonking comedy franchise with stars such as Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro and Jim Carrey , the movie now is being headlined by the trio of Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and Chris Diamontopoulos. Although the film is not yet rated, when MTV News caught up with the Farrellys earlier this year, they promised to keep things PG. “The Stooges, by the way, are just naturally and organically PG,” Peter Farrelly said. “That’s what it is. We wouldn’t want it to be what it isn’t. It’s like ‘Napoleon Dynamite,’ as funny as that was, that was a PG movie, not PG-13. It’s just natural, and this is what the Stooges is. “They are Moe, Larry, Curly as you remember them,” he added when asked if the co-directors had plans to modernize the characters at all. “It’s not a biopic. It’s the episodes just as you saw but we rewrote, we have all new episodes. We have three episodes. Technically, each episode picks up where the last one left off. Each one begins with its own theme, so it’s about an hour and 25 minutes. Three episodes, fun, old-fashioned, but it takes place present-day, and they look, dress and sound like the Three Stooges.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Three Stooges.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

‘Jersey Shore’ Season Five ‘One Of My Best,’ Pauly D Says

New season, which premieres January 5, finds the cast returning to the Shore and burying old beefs. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Sway Calloway Pauly D Photo: MTV The last season of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” was an Italian debacle on par with Silvio Berlusconi ( look it up ). It was 12 episodes of infighting, head-butting, vehicular mishaps, ill-fated hookup attempts and, of course, Sammi and Ronnie. So when news broke that the gang would be returning to their spiritual home of Seaside Heights, New Jersey, for the upcoming fifth season , there was much rejoicing — especially from the stars themselves. As Pauly D recently told MTV News, they left all the drama back in Italy and focused instead on just having fun. It was really one of my best years, I think.” In the new season, Pauly said even the most ardent of foes — like, say, Snooki and the Situation, who traded barbs (among other things) during their Italian holiday — have buried the tension. “They’re better. It was tough for me to live in the house when they were doing that, because it was way out of left field, I wasn’t expecting that,” Pauly explained. “But what’s crazy about it is that we’ll fight, but we still come together at the end of the day, as a family almost. Kind of like a messed-up family.” Pauly also said that, despite previous reports, his best pal Vinny is still very much a part of the new season. While he has plenty of answers about the new “Shore” season, even Pauly was at a loss when it comes to the current relationship status of Sammi and Ronnie, the, uh, star-crossed couple whose constant bickering has become (for better or worse) a staple of the show. “Man, I don’t know. They change like the weather. Are they together, are they not? I don’t even know,” he laughed.” I love them both. Together, it’s crazy. I don’t even need a relationship, because I’m living through theirs.” The fifth season of “Jersey Shore” premieres Thursday, January 5, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J Deal Is ‘Official’

‘He’s gonna be here forever and I’m gonna be here forever,’ Wiz tells MTV News of Juicy J signing. By Rob Markman Wiz Khalifa Photo: MTV News Wiz Khalifa has always been a fan of Three 6 Mafia, and what’s not to love? With a rowdy rap catalog that includes the hits “Tear da Club Up,” “Sippin’ on Some Syrup” and “Stay Fly,” Three 6 has grown to become one of hip-hop’s most iconic groups. And the Pittsburgh hitmaker will be working with the Mafia’s Juicy J closely now that he has signed him to his Taylor Gang label. “Yeah that’s official, that’s good to go,” Khalifa confirmed with MTV News on Wednesday night before he took the stage with Snoop Dogg at Terminal 5 in New York. Juice, who just released his latest mixtape, Blue Dream & Lean, on November 29, revealed the signing during an interview with Hood Rich Radio. “Juicy J is now with Taylor Gang, we goin’ in this year, man. 2012, we goin’ in,” he said. Longtime Taylor Gang artist Chevy Woods is looking forward to adding the rapper/producer to the crew. “It’s fun for me, because I really just sit back and watch,” he told MTV News. “[Wiz is] always doin’ somethin’ different.” For Wiz, this is an opportunity to link up with an artist that he has looked up to for a long time. “Well, I’ve always been a huge fan of Juicy J and Three 6 Mafia and what they brought to the game,” he said. “As far as their music, as far as their consistency, as far as just if you’re in that mood and you know what you wanna hear, they brought it and I respected that. And they brought it for years, since I was young.” “I remember when ‘Tear da Club Up’ first came out and I remember when ‘Stay Fly’ came out, and those are two huge songs from the same group of people who never fell off or lost it at all. And I really look up to that and respect that.” Turns out, according to Khalifa, Juice was a fan of Wiz as well. “It was like, ‘Man we might as well bridge the gap and takeover,’ because he’s gonna be here forever and I’m gonna be here forever.” What do you think of Juicy J joining Taylor Gang? ‘Jersey Shore’ Season Five Trailer: Home Sweet Home

Castmates return to New Jersey after Italian vacation for the new season, which premieres January 5 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. By James Dinh “Jersey Shore” castmates celebrate their return to Seaside Photo: MTV After spending some fish-out-of-water time across the pond in Italy, the “Jersey Shore” gang is heading back to their Seaside Heights stomping ground for the fifth installment of the MTV series , premiering Thursday, January 5, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. And after a quick glimpse at the just-released trailer , it appears as if the GTL crew is ready for tons of partying, booze and, of course, drama. “Shore” is expected to pick things up where the season-four installment ended, as the eight housemates bid farewell to Florence, Italy, and prepare for their New Jersey return. In the two-minute teaser, the fist-pumping crew toasts to yet another crazy summer and is later greeted to what looks like a surprise welcome-home party. “We’re back in our habitat and I’m ready to tear the speakers off this joint,” Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino yells. Despite Snooki and Deena’s meatball escapades, the usual club dance battles and pranks galore, it isn’t all fun times for the gang — especially when Vinny decides to depart the Seaside Heights house. “This is real. This is a reality right here. Vinny’s out of here,” Pauly D says during a confessional after his castmate’s departure. As teased during the previous season, the battle between Snooki and the Situation shows no signs of slowing down. With his badgering comments about the pint-size guidette’s boyfriend, the Situation doesn’t appear apologetic about playing the part of an instigator, saying, “I do have that secret and I’m blowing it wide open.” While one scene depicts the two castmates in the middle of a food fight, another scene shows the Snookster swatting a plastic baseball bat at the womanizer. MTV News caught up with Deena earlier this year, who spoke about her time back in the States. “All of us became so close,” she said of their European vacation. “So here, it really was like we were brothers and sisters. You get annoyed with each other, then you’re fine. But you’ll see, we had a lot of fun in Jersey; we had so much fun. We were home, we were comfortable.” The fifth season of “Jersey Shore” premieres Thursday, January 5, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
