PISCATAWAY, N.J. — The pouf is mightier than the pen when it comes to speaking fees at New Jersey’s largest university. The Rutgers University Programming Association paid Snooki of the reality TV show “Jersey Shore” $32,000 Thursday to dish on her hairstyle, fist pumps, and the gym, tan, laundry lifestyle. That’s $2,000 more than the $30,000 the university is paying Nobel-winning novelist Toni Morrison to deliver Rutgers’ commencement address in May. Money for Thursday’s appearance came from the mandatory student activity fee. Freshman Adham Abdel-Raouf told the newspaper he thought the price was a bargain given Snooki’s popularity. Source
British songstress talks about her early toy-store job on this week’s episode, airing Saturday at 11 a.m. ET. By Sterling Wong Jessie J on “When I Was 17” Photo: MTV News British singer/songwriter Jessie J kept herself plenty busy in her teenage years. On this week’s “When I Was 17,” the newcomer shares that as an ambitious teen, she signed up for singing lessons, and to pay for that, she worked at a major toy store in London called Hamleys. Working around fun toys and cute kids must have been a breeze, no? Not quite, according to Jessie! “I did ‘nail jazz,’ and so I was basically drawing snowmen, Christmas trees and smiley faces,” she explained. “And I used to lose my voice all the time ’cause I’d be like, ‘Hello! Would you like a nail jazz demonstration?’ ” Jessie’s voice wasn’t the only thing affected by the job. Because she had to paint so many nails each day, she actually injured her hand in the process! “It was hard work. I actually gave myself an injury. I had a specific muscle that I basically ripped, because I did so many nails every day,” Jessie says. Who knew working in a toy store could be detrimental to your health? Still, Jessie looks at the bright side of things. “The positive of the job was that now I can draw a snowman or a Christmas tree on anyone’s nails!” With her star firmly on the rise and with her debut album dropping in the U.S. on April 12, Jessie’s probably not going to be doing more nails anytime soon! “When I Was 17” — this week featuring Jessie J, Tyrese and Lupe Fiasco — airs Saturday (April 2) at 11 a.m. on MTV. The Miami rapper says the Las Vegas spring break revelers are ‘doing everything they not supposed to be doing.’ By Jayson Rodriguez Pitbull and Sway Photo: MTV News Pitbull put on his best casino-styled suit for MTV’s 2011 Spring Break, taking his inspiration from “Sam Rothstein,” he said. The Miami rapper channeled Robert DeNiro’s “Casino” character and, like a good Las Vegas dealer he knows the house always win. That’s why he’s betting the money on things getting wild during his spring-break performance, which is scheduled to air on MTV on Friday (April 1) at 9:50 p.m. ET. “We about to go out there and show them everything they supposed to be doing on spring break, which is doing everything you not supposed to,” Pit said during his 2011 Spring Break Performer Diary. “Jersey Shore” stars Pauly D and Deena were in the house to see Pitbull get loose. “They getting loose,” Pit said about the crowd. “They getting wild, they doing everything they not supposed to be doing, so therefore we came through and did what we had to do.” Pitbull, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa and Lupe Fiasco made up the MTV Spring Break 2011 lineup, but the “Hotel Room Service” star was the only returning visitor. He didn’t have too much advice for his fellow performers, but recommended that they take a page from the co-eds playbook and go out there and have fun. “I don’t know if there’s too many don’ts during spring break — I think it’s all about do,” Pitbull told MTV News earlier in the week. “Who you doing and how you doing it. If you gonna be up there rocking the crowd, you have to give them that energy, you got to make sure that you send them off so they have an amazing night. They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but I’m from Miami. Whatever happens in Miami never happened!” Related Videos Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Lupe Fiasco, More Take Over MTV Spring Break 2011 Related Artists Pitbull

By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears performs “Till the World Ends” at Rain Nightclub in the Palms Las Vegas Photo: Roderick Trestrail LAS VEGAS — After a killer set from “Jersey Shore” star DJ Pauly D on Friday night (March 25), a montage of Britney Spears’ best video moments played to a hyped crowd at Rain nightclub inside the Palms Casino and Resort. Once the videos wrapped, the crowd went even crazier as the Femme Fatale herself hit the stage. Spears sported a stunning sequined bodysuit and performed her first song of the night, lead single “Hold It Against Me.” Flanked by sexy male dancers, she sashayed her way through the song, which included sexy hair-tossing and a wind machine. For her second track of the night, Spears debuted the will.i.am-produced track “Big Fat Bass.” Her dancers hit the stage in bright yellow, while Spears opted for a body-hugging latex bodysuit. She emerged from a speaker box, and the appearance had her fans screaming. The track was remixed to include past hits like “3,” “Slave 4 U” and “Gimme More.” She danced around the stage and climbed up on speakers as she danced to the track. Britney kicked it up a few futuristic notches for her latest club banger, “Till the World Ends.” The stage was filled with ladders, LED lighting, dancers and Spears in a black latex bodysuit covered in red lights. She clearly was having a good time, smiling to her fans. Her choreography was decidedly sexy, including flirty dance moves with her male dancers. At the end, Spears ascended the ladders and ended up on a platform, gyrating from above the room. As fireworks lit the stage, Spears danced and tossed her hair as the song closed. The room was filled with electricity and excitement. The performance was being taped by MTV for a special airing next week. A teaser will debut Tuesday on MTV, the same day Spears’ latest album, Femme Fatale, hits stores. Did you see Britney perform in Vegas? Share your reviews in the comments! With the dust settling after an emotional Jersey Shore season finale , all eyes are on Italy, where Season 4 of the MTV show will be filmed as early as mid-April. Having just delivered the best ratings of the three seasons so far, fans are clamoring for more, blowing up the web for news about the fourth season already. We can tell you for a fact that a new season will happen, it will be filmed in Italy, it will air later this year and has already exasperated plenty of people there. Already bombarded with sordid tales of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s soirees with young women, now Italians have to deal with Jersey Shore? Gonna be rough. MTV is scouting locations in Italy for Jersey Shore’s fourth season, which has rankled Italian-American groups. Over there, peeps are just bemused and irritated. “That’s the last thing we need,” one prominent Italian-American commentator told the Wall Street Journal about the prospect of the cast’s trip to the motherland. They’d better get used to it … and hide their young daughters. According to MTV News, the cast members of the show are eagerly anticipating the European trip. Culture shock seems inevitable. Having grown up with wine at the dinner table, most Italians tend to drink in moderation. They also take pride in … social tact. Whether America’s image can be repaired afterward is unclear, but we’ll find out either way. There is clearly no going back now, and the guidos/ettes are stoked. “For some reason, I really want to go on a gondola ride,” Deena Cortese said. “Or I would like if we’re in Rome, I’d like to see the love fountain. I’m thinking I’ll steal a coin … maybe I’ll fall in love.” We can only hope, D. We can only hope . Click here for the best Jersey Shore quotes of the first THREE seasons!
