Duggar Parenting Fails: 13 Of the Family’s Most Shocking Moments

It was the size of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's massive brood that made them famous, but it's the unusual fashion in which the couple has raised their 19 kids that's made them subjects of continued fascination. From bizarrely detailed ” courtship rules ” to a strict ban on girls and women wearing pants, the Duggars exercise control over every aspect of their children's lives. It's a way of life that's earned them more critics than fans over the years, and when you look at the long list of jaw-dropping Duggar parenting moments , it's not hard to see why that is: 1. Pants, Pants Revolution After a lifetime of only being permitted to wear long skirts, Jinger Duggar defied her parents and began wearing pants in public. Her sister Jessa Duggar followed suit. Jim Bob is reportedly displeased, but under the Duggar code of conduct, his hands are tied as long as their husbands allow a more lax dress code. 2. Blanket Training The Duggars practice a controversial method of child discipline known as “blanket training.” In it, children are placed on a blanket and either restrained or physically punished if they attempt to move from it. Many fans believe this photo shows Israel Dillard receiving blanket training from his parents, Jill and Derick. 3. The Infamous Tortilla Hat Earlier this year, Jill Duggar was harshly criticized for placing a tortilla on the head of her infant son Samuel. Seems like she just needed something to block the sun in a pinch, but the decision to substitute food for clothing didn’t sit well with fans. 4. Bike Fight Speaking of headgear, some fans got upset about recent photos that showed young Duggar children riding bikes without helmets. And that wasn’t the family’s first cycling-related controversy… 5. Inappropriate Attire? It all started with this photo that not only showed the Duggar kids helmet-less, but also revealed that girls in the family are forced to wear skirts even while riding bikes. 6. Kids With Guns Before that OTHER big scandal surrounding Josh Duggar and kids, there was the one surrounding this photo. Tori Roloff Gushes Over Precious Baby Jackson with New Pic!

While we all wait with bated breath for TLC to announce when Little People, Big World is coming back , we don’t have to wait for news of the Roloffs. Because social media exists. And Tori Roloff is making use of it to tell us exactly how much she loves her precious baby, Jackson Roloff. Or, as the family has taken to calling him: Baby J. Awwww! If you’re finding yourself overwhelmed by Jackson’s cuteness, you’re not alone. Not even Jackson’s own mother is immune. In fact, if anything, Tori Roloff is “I have such FOMO when it comes to this kid.” Before you start googling things or, worse, trying to come up with your own guesses for that achronym, it means: fear of missing out . “I am so obsessed with every move he makes.” That’s human instinct in a nutshell, right there. (Tori Roloff’s post continues, but first, let’s remember exactly how inescapably adorable Jackson Roloff is) He’s. So. Cute. Tori can only begin to list his most precious attributes: “His little fingers. His coos. And I can’t even with his gummy two tooth smile.” We  can’t even, either. “He literally breaks my heart (in a good way) every time he moves.” That’s, again, human instinct. Your whole system gets flooded with oxytocin. (This doesn’t just happen with babies; making your favorite person laugh or looking at videos of puppies can do the same thing) “I love being this kids mom.” A lot of parents like to gripe about their kids (totally unfair), so it’s so nice to hear this from Tori. “God has blessed me in such a way. He’s made me realize things don’t matter — people do.” Different people have different views of materialism, but we can probably all agree that your children should come first. Tori ends the beautiful note by reiterating her affection for her infant son, and referring to him by his nickname. “Love you so much baby j.” That’s followed by a cyan heart emoji and the tag: “#babyjroloff” We like the name Jackson, but you know what? “Baby J” is sweet and has the same number of syllables as Ember Jean . That’s probably not why they came up with the nickname — those tend to crop up organically — but it’s a cute little coincidence. Jackson is adorable and, now that Jackson’s over 6 months old , it might not be long before he’s talking. Like, for-real talking. (Different babies develop at different rates — some don’t talk until they’re over a year old, and that’s okay!) For now, though, his parents and the rest of the Roloff clan can just enjoy how precious and sweet he is. Baby J doesn’t need words to show them how much he loves them. Ember Jean recently passed a couple of “milestones,” herself. Not, like, developmental milestones — she’s still only a few months old. But she went to “help” pick out a Christmas tree. And she had her first trip to the beach! Right now, the developmental gap between Ember Jean and Baby J might as well be the grand canyon — just a few months, at their age, make a world of difference. But, in just a few years, their age difference will seem almost meaningless. These two precious cousins will get to grow up, side-by-side. We can’t wait to watch them every step of the way!

Jill Duggar: Showing Off Baby Bump in New Photo?!

If you’re a Duggar woman of a certain age, then thousands of people are going to be constantly speculating on the state of your uterus. And that’s just the way it is. Ever since Michelle got her family famous by giving birth to as many children as she possibly could, this has become the Duggar legacy. Well, this and that whole mess with Josh. Jim Bob and Michelle don’t believe in birth control , and Michelle has said many times that she feels it is her duty as a wife to make herself available for her husband each and every time he feels like getting down. Michelle has also said that overpopulation isn’t an issue because every single person in the whole entire world could fit inside Jacksonville, Florida, and while that isn’t immediately relevant, it’s just a funny/tragic thing to think about. As the years go by, we’re seeing more and more that the Duggar children don’t necessarily follow each and every religious rule that their parents hold so dear. Like, some of the girls have been wearing pants . But judging by rumors and a few suspicious photos, it looks like Jill Duggar may just be relating to her mom’s belief of popping out one baby right after the other. Jill and her husband, Derick Dillard, welcomed their second child back in July. We don’t know too much about the birth, but there are quite a few clues that it was a rough one. The new baby didn’t get a spread in People, which has become customary for new Duggar babies, and Jill didn’t share anything about him on social media for a while, which was also strange. We do know that she had an emergency c-section, and that she also had an emergency c-section with her first child. You’d think that after that experience, which had to be at least a little traumatic based on just those few details we do know, that it would be a little while before she and Derick would even think about having another child. But according to some pretty persistent rumors, you’d think wrong! We haven’t seen too much of Jill lately — probably because her husband has been acting like a massive jackass — but in the few photos and videos we’ve seen of her, many people seem to think she’s got a baby bump. Back in November, the Duggar family’s Facebook page shared a video of her teaching one of her little sisters how to make an apple crisp, and the comments on the video were full of people convinced she was pregnant yet again . And then on Thanksgiving, Derick shared a photo of the two of them together , and — you guessed it! — his followers saw more proof of pregnancy. Now Derick has shared yet another holiday photo in which they’re kissing under the mistletoe. And wouldn’t you know it, there’s that pesky baby bump again! Many of Derick’s followers took this as confirmation of her pregnancy, leaving comments like “Jill is totally pregnant!!!” Another agreed, writing “Yup 3rd on the way.” “Here comes another baby!!” another person announced. But others weren’t so convinced — one person pointed out that “she probably still has baby fat” from her last pregnancy, and another noted that “It may just seem that way because of how she is bent backwards.” “I really hope you’re never in a situation where people say you look pregnant when you’re not,” one particularly kind person wrote. “It won’t feel very good.” Because while it’s fun to speculate about pregnancy, especially when there’s such a high likelihood of pregnancy, there’s a very, very real chance that Jill isn’t expecting at all. It’s just been five months since she gave birth to her second child, and it’s perfectly normal for her not to have “bounced back” already. But until she or Derick make an actual announcement, maybe let’s just chill with all this, all right?

Derick Dillard just can’t seem to steer clear of conflict these days. The 28-year-old husband of Jill Duggar has been such a burden to his in-laws’ public image lately that he’s been dubbed “the new Josh Duggar .”  Obviously, that nickname is way over the top, as it’s not like Dillard has been involved in any sort of sex scandal, but his combative persona has resulted in rumors that TLC will cancel Counting On r ather than weather the storm of another Duggar scandal. The most damaging that controversy sparked in recent weeks arose as a result of some appalling comments that Derick directed at Jazz Jennings , a fellow TLC reality star and transgender teen. “What an oxymoron… a ‘reality’ show which follows a non-reality. ‘Transgender’ is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it’s ordained by God,” Derick tweeted in an angry response to TLC’s promotions for I Am Jazz . In response to outraged fans demanding that Derick apologize to the 16-year-old girl, Derick replied, “I have nothing against him,” adding that “gender is ordained by God,” and cannot be changed by man. The Duggars have yet to put that ugly episode behind them, and there are those who believe Derick’s actions will cost the family their reality show . But far from taking a time out from social media, Derick seems to be tweeting more than ever these days. And he’s become no less combative as a result of his latest PR crisis. Taking advantage of Monday’s solar eclipse, Derick posted a seemingly innocuous tweet about his religious beliefs: “On a day when so many will be looking to the sun, let’s not miss the Son. #SolarEclipse2017 #EclipseSolar #JesusChrist,” he wrote. “The difference being that #SolarEclipse2017 is actually verifiable & #JesusChrist is not,” a fan tweeted in response. “Do we need to have a history lesson on the FACT that Jesus of Nazareth was a historical figure?” an irate Dillard fired back. Derick retweeted the non-believer’s response, and right on cue, dozens of his 123,000 followers pounced. Obviously, there’s nothing surprising about Derick’s religious views, as he’s been quite open about his beliefs throughout his time in the spotlight. But his decision to go nuclear in response to a rather civilly-worded dissenting view speaks volumes.  It’s interesting that Derick replied at all, as he chose not to respond to the many high profile figures who called him out following his tweets about Jazz Jennings . Like the rest of the Duggar clan, Derick usually doesn’t bother arguing with fans online. The reaction seems unnecessarily hostile (an ironic attitude to assume in a debate about Jesus), and given the recent events of his public life, we can’t help but think the pressure’s beginning to get to Derick.  Watch Counting On online for more from reality TV’s most controversial family. Blac Chyna: Selling Sex Tape to Get Back at Rob Kardashian?!

If you’ve been keeping up with all the latest gossip this week — or even if you’ve just been near the internet — you know that things aren’t going so well between Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna right now. They’re actually going really, really badly. The issue, at least the current one, started when Rob felt the need to vent about his strained relationship with Chyna on Instagram. He apparently has a number of problems with his ex-fiancee and the mother of his child, and he wanted to tell us about every single one of them. For instance, Rob claimed that Chyna was still sleeping with him, and that she’s also sleeping with a few other men — and she’s even bringing those men in her home with her children. In another section of his big long rant, he said that he paid thousands and thousands of dollars for plastic surgery for Chyna after she gave birth to dream. Surgery that apparently messed up her nipples. Rob said that Chyna does all sorts of drugs, and that she drinks a lot, and that she cheated on him, and that he pays her bills and he spent nearly a million dollars on her while they were together. He also shared a few nude photos of her — and that crossed a whole different line . Now Blac Chyna is taking the feud to the court system, and rightfully so. It was illegal for Rob to post those photos of her, and she wants to file a restraining order against him because, as she claimed in her case, she’s scared of him. Partly because of his unhinged ranting, and partly because she said that he’s been violent with her. Rob could be prosecuted, Chyna could lose custody of her kids … there’s a lot at stake here. And, according to a new report from Hollywood Life, Chyna may be preparing to make things worse. With a sex tape . “Blac is shopping a sex tape that doesn’t involve Rob,” a source claims. “She wants to use it to humiliate Rob and also make a pretty penny off of it.” Could you see her taking things that far? Honestly, it doesn’t sound like much of a stretch. Chyna’s always been very comfortable with her sexuality, and if any of Rob’s statements about her are to be believed, there’s nothing she won’t do in the the name of pettiness. Or in the name of making money. And if she really is considering a sex tape, Vivid Entertainment, the fine company that brought us the sex tapes from Kim Kardashian and Farrah Abraham, are willing to distribute it. “We think Blac Chyna would be great in a sex tape and many people are fascinated by her,” says Vivid CEO Steven Hirsch. “We would definitely like to see whatever tape is out there or work with her on something new.” Brace yourself, Rob … sex tape or no sex tape, things are probably going to get worse real soon. Jill Duggar Welcomes Second Child!!!!!

The  Jill Duggar birth rumors have turned into a Jill Duggar birth reality. Which is to say the following, if you haven’t heard already: The TLC star has given birth to her second child! Following a few days of speculation of whether or not Duggar and husband Derick Dillard had welcomed baby number-two into the world, the famous couple has come out and confirmed the miraculous truth. “We are excited to finally announce the arrival of Samuel Scott Dillard,” Jill and Derick wrote on their website Saturday afternoon, adding in exciting detail: “The newest addition to our family arrived on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 1:02pm. He weighs 9lb 10oz and is 22” long.” “After 40 of labor, he was delivered via C-section at the hospital. “Thank you for your continued prayers and support!” Forty hours. They do not come easy for Jill! This precious bundle of joy joins two-year old brother Israel, whose birth was also a marathon event, as part of the immediate Duggar-Dillard family. Jill and Derick have been married since 2014 in their native Arkansas and announced their second pregnancy this past December. They opened up about their second child (and first child) in a TLC video in January, excerpts of which went as follows, courtesy of Dillard: “Israel didn’t really understand what was happening, but he’s just excited because other people are excited, so he’s just excited about his new little baby brother.” As were his loving parents. Added Jill at the time: “We’re really excited about having another son.” “I know that Israel and this little one will be best friends. …Thank y’all for your well wishes. We’re so excited about this new blessing from God.” The birth of little Samuel comes just over one month since his mother spoiled his name for the world , telling the world in a blog post on June 7: “We are so excited to announce the name of Baby Dillard #2! Samuel Scott Dillard. We can’t wait to welcome him to the world and have him join our family very soon!” Yes, Samuel Scott. It’s not Spurgeon or Israel. But it is biblical. Israel David Dillard was born in April of 2015, while sister Jessa Duggar has kids named Spurgeon Elliot and Henry Wilberforce. The Duggars aren’t just known for having many kids, they are known for having many kids with unusual first or middle names. (No judgment here, it’s worth noting. We’re just stating some facts. Jim Bob and Michelle picked 19 straight names beginning with J!) “Children really are a wonderful blessing from God,” Jill previously told unofficial family PR firm People Magazine, adding: “Having Israel has been such a delight to us that we know a second sweet baby will only continue to add joy to our family.” “We are thankful to God for this sweet child,” the 26-year-old gushed, “and we cannot wait to see her or him face to face!” And we can’t meet to see the first photos of Samuel Scott. We’d expect them to hit the Internet any day now and we’ll be sure to share them on The Hollywood Gossip as soon as they go live. In the meantime, we hope Jill recovers quickly and settles into a normal routine again (hopefully in Arkansas for awhile). The Dillards have taken considerable flak for traveling to Central America for mission work while she’s been pregnant. Still, it hasn’t deterred them to this point, and Jill seemed remarkably sanguine about the lifestyle the second time around. “There’s a level of ease that comes with your second pregnancy,” Jill said of the prospect of going through this again. “Derick and I have been down this road together, so we’re comfortable. Counting On Recap: Jill Duggar is Having a …

Continuing the Duggar family baby boom,  Counting On Season 3 Episode 4  featured the reveal of the gender of Jill Dillard’s second baby. Meanwhile, Jessa and Ben adjusted to being a family of four, Jinger tried to acclimate herself to Texas and Joy had dinner with Austin’s family. We already knew the gender of the baby, but it was still good getting to watch the couple reveal the news to their respective families.  In true Jill and Derick fashion, they opted to reveal the news in a fun and exciting way. Before the gender reveal, Jill predicted she was having a girl, while Derick went with a boy.  Most of the family took Jill’s side, thinking that because they already had a beautiful son, they would get a daughter this time around.  As we already knew, Derick was right, and they were adding another boy to their brood. Both moms visited Jill and Derick to the ultrasound, and it turned into a special affair. Revealing the news to the rest of the family was like a huge scavenger hunt. Instead of calling them straight away, they hid a box of boy’s clothing and left some clues.  In the end, Jordan found the package, earning his team a win. Yes, they split the family members into two teams. Hey, they have to do something to fill the episode up.  Otherwise, we’d have cute confessionals of the expectant couple pondering what their little bundle of joy would be like and how they would cope being a two-child family.  In case you’ve been living under a rock, the couple recently revealed the name of their son in a cute Instagram post. Yes, we say they are cute all the time because, well, they are.  They’re adorable.  “We are so excited to announce the name of Baby Dillard #2! Samuel Scott Dillard. We can’t wait to welcome him to the world and have him join our family very soon!” Elsewhere, Jinger and Jeremy were brushing up on their Spanish in hilarious fashion. It reminded us of school for some reason.  You could tell the couple was enjoying their time together, brushing up on all of the Spanish terms.  “I think that Jeremy keeps everything super exciting,” Jinger, 23, says. “Learning Spanish is just another thing that’s super enjoyable to do with him.” After Jinger had got the word for baby wrong, she revealed via an interview that it would be an important word for them going forward.  “El bebe, that is a word that is important for us to learn because Jeremy and I always call each other babe,” she says. “We haven’t switched over to the Spanish word for baby.” Jeremy then said they should go to a restaurant and test out their new skills.  “We might end up ordering a little boy or something,” she jokes. “They’ll bring out a child to entertain us.” Um, alright then.  What did you think of the episode? Jill Duggar Reveals Friend’s Shocking Murder, Prompts Safety Concerns From Fans

Back in February,  Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard returned to El Salvador to continue performing missionary work in the one of the Central American nation’s poorest villages. It wasn’t Jill and Derick’s first time taking such a trip, but this time around, Jill is pregnant with her second child , and the couple is traveling with their young son Israel Dillard in tow. As a result, many fans chided the Dillards for putting themselves and their son in danger – and that chorus of criticism will likely grow louder in the wake of a stunning new revelation from Jill: Taking to her family’s official website yesterday, Jill informed fans that she and Derick are currently mourning the loss of a close friend. A friend who was recently murdered in one of El Salvador’s crime-plagued slums. “We received a phone call on Monday from a friend here in Central America informing us that one of our other good friends (a fellow Christian) had been murdered the day before and that his family had found his body down by the river earlier that morning,” Jill wrote Jill didn’t offer many specifics, but it seems the friend was a native of El Salvador, whom she and Derick had become close with in recent weeks. “Even though we had spoke [sic] with our friend and his family about the realities of the dangers here, and especially in their area right now, we were shocked when we learned of his kidnap and murder,” Jill revealed. She added: “We’ve had them into our home three times in the past couple weeks!” Jill went on to report that Derick attended the unnamed friend’s funeral, while she stayed home in stunned disbelief: “After our regular church service last night, Derick was able to attend the funeral service with some people from church while Israel and I (Jill) stayed back at the house,” Jill wrote. “Typically funerals are held in a family member’s home and last several hours into the night. “Our friend’s funeral was held in their area and Derick and some men from church were able to share some words of encouragement with the family and guests. We have cried and continue to grieve the loss of our dear friend. ” Since the time of the Dillards’ first mission trip, fans have expressed concerns about the family’s safety. Jill has written about safety issues in the past, and many have pointed out that life in El Salvador seems to have had a negative impact on  Derick’s health .  But Jill has given no indication that she and Derick are planning to return to the States ahead of schedule. Duggar Fans to Josh: We Forgive You For Molesting Your Sisters!

On May 21, it will be two years since the world learned that Josh Duggar molested five young girls , four of whom were his sisters. The actual crimes took place several years earlier, of course, but Josh’s parents assisted him in avoiding prosecution and keeping his predatory ways under wraps. At the time, it was widely believed that the Duggars’ stint as reality television stars had come to an end. Surely, it was thought, no public figures could recover from such a revolting scandal, and for a time, it seemed that the public was right. Advertisers began cutting ties with TLC en masse , and eventually the network read the writing on the wall and canceled 19 Kids and Counting , the show that made the Duggars famous. Amazingly, however, the Duggar PR machine kept on churning, and between the family’s tireless efforts and the cultish devotion of their most die hard fans, Jim Bob Duggar – the Kris Jenner of the Bible Belt – was eventually able to finagle a second series out of the network. Counting On premiered in March of 2016 on TLC, and this time around, the Duggars were bound by a new set of guidelines and restrictions: The network reportedly demanded that the show focus solely on the lives of the eldest Duggar daughters with no appearances by Jim Bob and Michelle. (That rule was violated almost immediately.) Most importantly, of course, TLC execs demanded that Josh Duggar never appear on the series. The family seemed to recognize the necessity of that rule, and they’ve gone to awkward lengths to keep Josh off camera . But the 29-year-old sexual predator still makes appearances on the Duggar family’s official Facebook page, and one recent throwback photo has prompted some troubling reactions from Counting On fanatics: The image is a “throwback” to 2003, around the time when Josh was subjecting his young sisters to his revolting advances. Bizarrely, it seemed to make some fans of the family nostalgic: “What a great picture!! What a great tree limb too!! It would be nice to see a new one!! Love you guys and hope to see the WHOLE family back on TV soon!!” commented one fan. “Miss the WHOLE family!” wrote another. The implication is quite clear, of course. Obviously, there’s a contingent of fans who believe the punishment of not being a television star anymore is too harsh for the crime of serial child molestation. Thankfully, however, there are those who recognize the severity of Josh’s misconduct and remain vocal in their belief that he and his parents got off much, much too easy: “I was like ‘oh nice photo’ and then I realized what those poor girls were probably going through and it started making me sick,” wrote one follower. “Back when they were getting touched over the clothes,” echoed another, referring to the Duggars’ argument that Josh’s crimes were less severe as he only groped his sisters “over the clothes.” It’s astonishing that the family has been given another chance at stardom after one of the most repugnant scandals in television history went public.
