Pamela Anderson’s ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Style Will Be ‘Skin, Skin, Skin’

‘She’s like a showgirl at heart,’ friend and fashion designer Richie Rich tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Pamela Anderson Photo: Chris Weeks/ Getty Images While the world just learned Monday that Pamela Anderson had joined the “Dancing With the Stars” cast for season 10, her pal and fashion designer Richie Rich was in on the decision days before it was announced. “I was just with her this weekend,” the Heatherette mastermind told MTV News when he stopped by the newsroom to talk Oscars fashion. “She’s one of my best friends. She’s starting rehearsals this week. She’s totally stoked and excited. She probably has the best legs I’ve ever seen on anybody that walks. I know she’s taking a lot of different lessons. She’s very on point. She’s like a showgirl at heart. I can only imagine how amazing she’s going to be.” And while she has a vote of confidence from Richie, Anderson isn’t as convinced about her abilities on the dance floor. “Pam’s funny, ’cause she’s, like, tongue-in-cheek and she jokes, ‘I don’t know how to dance!’ ” Rich said. “She’s so great on point. She’s a great spinner. I was an ice skater, so we always joke and dance around. I don’t think she’s really nervous. I think she’s just excited.” Richie said the only advice he’s given Anderson about the show is to win. “I just told her to keep her eye on the prize. I don’t really have to tell her much, ’cause she’s so focused on doing it right,” he said, adding that he’ll be stopping by the show to cheer her on. “I think Pam’s gonna win. I think she’s gonna go for the gold. She puts her mind to something, and she does an amazing job. She’s a blonde. She should win.” Being that Richie is known for his over-the-top style, he would make for the perfect guy to design a few looks for Anderson to swirl in. “I’ll definitely do something for her,” he said. “I’ll design something fun and outrageous and Vegas-style. … She’s so easy to dress. Boom! Put it on. “I definitely think it’s the Ice Capades meets Christmas. Gotta be over-the-top shiny, sparkly, colorful and fun … and wearable,” he continued. “Pamela doesn’t like wearing clothes, so it’ll definitely be skin, skin, skin.” Related Photos The 2010 Cast Of ‘Dancing With The Stars’

John Mayer And Ke$ha Spark A Twittermance

‘Dear Ke$ha, you have won me over with your tricks and charms,’ Mayer tweets. By Jocelyn Vena John Mayer and Ke$ha Photo: Brian Ach/Duffy-Marie Arnoult/WireImage John Mayer once had a Twittermance with Demi Lovato . Now, it seems the singer/songwriter is expressing his love for sassy pop star Ke$ha on the site. He’s also calling out all the haters for their criticism of Ke$ha’s raucous pop. “Stop telling your friends you detest the Ke$ha song and then dancing to it at home,” he tweeted . “How about some accountability, people?” He later added : “How can you watch Jersey Shore for 9 hours and then act like you only listen to Beethoven’s fifth? Okay. Point made. Night.” He also took to the site to personally reach out to the singer and joke with her about the lyrics to her hit song “Tik Tok.” “Dear Ke$ha, you have won me over with your tricks and charms and I must tell you I really like your song,” he wrote . “Though I must add I tried brushing with a bottle of Jack and I chipped a tooth on the glass. Where might I remit an invoice?” Mayer’s tweets were welcomed by Ke$ha, who responded with some lyrics from her latest tune, “Blah Blah Blah”: “Dear john mayerrr. Don’t be a little bi— wit ur chit chat. Jus $how me whur ur di–‘s at. X.” With Ke$ha’s birthday on Monday (March 1), there’s no word whether Mayer got her a present. Shakira Scores Love With Tennis Pro Rafael Nadal In New Video

Shakira and Rafael Nadal cozy up in ‘Gypsy’ clip. By Jocelyn Vena Shakira and Rafael Nadal in her “Gypsy” video Photo: Epic Records Shakira must really love tennis — especially when Spanish player Rafael Nadal is playing. In the clip for her new single “Gypsy,” the hip-shaking singer shows just how much she loves the No. 3-ranked player’s swing. The video opens with Shakira’s mouth on her harmonica and closes with her lips all over the shirtless Nadal. In between, the two get in some serious canoodling. The video, like the song paired with it, has a much more organic vibe and sound than other tracks from Shakira’s 2009 album She Wolf . Directed by frequent Shakira collaborator Jaume de Laiguana, the video tells a love story that plays out on a desert backdrop. It’s an ideal setting for the romance between the smiling Shakira and her often-shirtless tennis pro to unfold. The video has lots of perspiration, quite a few shots of Shakira’s gyrating hips and much affection shown by the pair. While the lyrics of “Gypsy” have Shakira singing about looking to bring her love with her on the road, in the video she turns up the glam in outfits that look like she has entire closets at her disposal. And while she claims that she’s willing to wear her lover’s clothes if they fit, she looks much hotter in the sheer black halter top and long black skirt that she sports at one point in the clip. As the video closing on Nadal and Shakira kissing, the viewer wonders if — and hopes that — they can survive her gypsy lifestyle. What do you think of Shakira’s new video? Tell us in the comments! Rihanna ‘Rude Boy’ Video Director ‘Wasn’t Trying To Rip Anybody Off’

‘We’re all inspired by similar elements and it came together in that way,’ Melina Matsoukas says of comparisons to M.I.A.’s ‘Boyz’ clip. By Jocelyn Vena Rihanna in her video for “Rude Boy” Photo: Def Jam As soon at Rihanna ‘s new colorful, sassy video for “Rude Boy” hit the Internet, fans and music lovers couldn’t help but compare it to M.I.A.’s video for “Boyz.” However, that reaction isn’t one that the star or the video’s director, Melina Matsoukas, had even considered while they were shooting the clip. “I mean, you know that the video lends from a lot of Rasta culture and ’80s Atari vibe and that’s what we went with too,” Matsoukas said. “And then afterward I was like, ‘Oh, this sucks. They tore down my video.’ And her video’s great too. It definitely wasn’t trying to rip anybody off at all — it was just our approach and the animation stuff, it had a similar vibe. We’ve seen that before with Grace Jones and Andy Warhol, so I don’t know if anybody can lay claim to anything. We’re all inspired by similar elements and it came together in that way.” With nods to Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol, the pop-art inspired video is a far cry from the pair’s work on “Hard” — but as soon as they wrapped the latter, they knew they had to work together again. “I mean, ‘Hard’ was our first time together,” the director explained. “[Rihanna] will try anything, which is always great because you have a lot of artists who won’t do what you need them to do. She’ll go there and I definitely wanted to bring that part of her out — that fun side.” Rihanna’s daring fashion sense is also exhibited in the video. “She loves crazy outfits! She loves the fashion. The stylist was actually my best friend. And Rihanna’s one of the only artists that will take it there and wear it and wear it well,” Matsoukas gushed. “That part is always fun. Nothing looks bad on her, so that’s even more fun. She goes with it and she really challenges you to take it a step further with the status quo.” Related Artists Rihanna

Lady Gaga Says Her Ex-Boyfriend ‘Hoped I’d Fail’

‘I had a boyfriend who told me I’d never succeed,’ she says in the April issue of Cosmopolitan. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga in the April issue of Cosmopolitan Photo: Kenneth Willardt While Lady Gaga might seem like an overnight success, she’s faced roadblocks along the way. The pop star has had quite a few people, including an ex-boyfriend who probably regrets letting her go, tell her that she couldn’t make it. In the April issue of Cosmopolitan, Gaga talks about beating the odds. “I had a boyfriend who told me I’d never succeed, never be nominated for a Grammy, never have a hit song and that he hoped I’d fail,” said Gaga, whose issue hits newsstands March 9. “I said to him, ‘Someday, when we’re not together, you won’t be able to order a cup of coffee at the f—ing deli without hearing or seeing me.” It wasn’t just ex-lovers who didn’t think that Gaga could go all the way, but Gaga didn’t let the criticism get to her. “I ate sh– for so long,” she explained. “Being told I didn’t fit the mold and that I was ‘too pop’ or ‘too theater’ … I’ve always been delusionally ambitious to the point where people don’t understand me.” While she has faced detractors, her friends are supporting her all the way now — and they have a very interesting theory about the pop star. “My friends joke that I’m dead until I get onstage,” she said. “I’m dead right now as you’re speaking to me.” In photos for the magazine, Gaga is seen in lots of sexy lingerie. The looks are decidedly more conventional than Gaga’s typical out-there style. On the cover, she wears a nude bra and underwear, while in another shot, she’s seen in a black satin and mesh bustier with black-leopard hot pants. An additional shot of the star shows her in a low-cut black dress. Related Photos Lady Gaga Stuns At U.K. Tour Kickoff MTV News’ 2009 Women Of The Year: #1 Lady Gaga

Lauren Conrad Says L.A. Candy Is ‘Three Books, One Movie’

‘It’s one story being told over the three [books], so I think it’s one overall story,’ she says of plans to make a single movie out of the book trilogy. By Jocelyn Vena Lauren Conrad Photo: MTV News Lauren Conrad and her team — including the same producers behind the blockbuster “Twilight” franchise — are hard at work trying to make sure they get the film adaptation of her “L.A. Candy” book trilogy just right. However, Conrad said that each book will not get its own accompanying film. “Actually, the movie is meant to be based on the story that’s told over the three books that I’m writing — three books, one movie,” she told MTV News while promoting her latest tome, “Sweet Little Lies.” “It’s a trilogy. It’s one story being told over the three, so I think it’s one overall story.” Conrad is still focused on the big-screen story line of fictional reality star Jane Roberts and admits that she has yet to attach any A-list actors to the role. “No, we’re still working with writers,” she said about casting decisions. “And in the early stages.” Late last year, Conrad joked to MTV News that she’d like to see her former “Hills” castmember Lo Bosworth tackle the role of Jane , based on some of Conrad’s own real-life experiences as a reality-TV star. “I have to do research. We’ll see,” she said. “I would like Lo Bosworth. Lo has taken a couple of acting classes in her life. “No [I don’t know who should be in it],” Conrad added. “[That’s] the question I do not have an answer for. I have no idea! I feel like I’m going to shoot for someone crazy amazing and then they’re going to be like, ‘Ugh, yeah, I’ll do your movie.’ ” Who would you like to see star in “L.A. Candy”? Lauren Conrad On Her Return To TV: ‘We’ll See’

‘I loved being involved with television,’ former ‘Hills’ star says. By Jocelyn Vena Lauren Conrad Photo: MTV News Lauren Conrad found fame and fans as the star of “Laguna Beach” and “The Hills,” but in 2009 she decided to leave the world of reality TV behind to pursue her interests in fashion design and the literary arts. Now with a successful clothing line at Kohl’s and two successful novels under her belt with a third one and a movie adaptation on the way , will Conrad be returning to TV? “I loved being involved with television, so currently I’m working on more of the production side, but I’m trying to figure out where I want to go from there,” she shared with MTV News. “I had my break. My break was nice, so we’ll see. Well, we will see.” While she’s mulling that over, she does keep with her the lessons she learned — and hopes that her fans learned — about the world of reality TV. “I think that if fans take anything away from the book, [they should realize] there’s a back side to every story,” she said. “And when you’re reading tabloids and seeing these people’s lives exposed, it does affect them and it is hard to go through as a young girl.” Conrad has been forthcoming about not returning to “The Hills.” “I’m not planning on it,” she said last year. “I’m happy with the time I walked away, and I think that from now on, they’re going to pick it up and do a great show. But I think that my time on it is done.” If Conrad does return to television, it will not be in a show about her life. “I wouldn’t do a show like ‘The Hills’ — nothing with my personal life, but possibly something hosting,” she offered. “I think I have a little bit of time to figure out what I’m going to do next.” What kind of show would you like to see Lauren on? Ke$ha Teaches Boys A Lesson (Or Four) In ‘Blah Blah Blah’ Video

She is joined by 3OH!3 in her sassy new clip. By Jocelyn Vena Ke$ha in her “Blah Blah Blah” video Photo: Sony Music While quite a few boys take a liking to Ke$ha , they aren’t always the kinds of guys she’d like to spend time with. And as she makes her way to the bar in the new video for “Blah Blah Blah,” which premiered online Tuesday, she’s already being bothered by one of those unworthy dudes. The video is a rulebook for the right and (mostly) wrong ways to approach the sassy pop star. Lesson #1: If Ke$ha is playing pool and you think that is the right time to flirt with her, she will duct-tape your mouth. Lesson #2: If Ke$ha is busy at the arcade and you think that might be a better time to start a conversation with her, she will eventually just push you and your advances away. Lesson #3: If you think playing acoustic guitar for the singer is the right move to impress her, you’re wrong again. When Ke$ha isn’t teaching boys a lesson or three, she’s singing in a bowling alley, texting her pals about the lack of good men in the world and letting the boys of 3OH!3 put their two cents in about the do’s and don’ts of relationships. Ke$ha, however, teaches the most important lesson of all (#4, for those keeping count) back at the bowling alley, when a man comes over to talk to her. She eventually loses her interest when his toupee falls off. The video’s bottom line: Ke$ha just doesn’t have time for fake guys or their fake hair. Related Artists Ke$ha

Selena Gomez Says Next Album Will Have ‘Reggae Sound’

‘It’s kind of different,’ she says of sound of new songs. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi Selena Gomez Photo: Courtesy of Hollywood Records Selena Gomez is currently working on a slightly harder follow-up to her 2009 debut album, Kiss & Tell. The album, which she released with her band The Scene, was a pop record and Gomez recently told MTV News that for her sophomore effort she wants to go a bit funkier and a bit edgier. “We were gonna do a deluxe edition of my album, but we started on some songs, so we figured, ‘Why not? Let’s just go for a second one,’ ” she explained. “It’s kind of different — older — and it’s kind of got, like, a reggae sound.” Gomez is only in the early stages of the album-making process. Currently the band is trying to “fill it out,” but she knows she’d like to see if she can re-create the vibe from her single “Naturally” — but she’s unsure if she’s willing to take on the pressure of being the album’s main songwriter. “I don’t want it all to be on me,” Gomez said. So what about possible collaborators? “Well, I want to work with the producers who did “Naturally’ [Antonina Armato, Tim James and Devrim Karaoglu]. They are so sweet,” she said. “I’d love to work with Dr. Luke. I think he’s awesome,” she added about the “I Kissed a Girl” hitmaker. Gomez noted that on her first record, she made sure she picked tunes that her fans could easily relate to. “I wanted to make sure, A, I can relate to it and B, my fans can relate to it, and it’s something that I went through,” she explained. “And all of those songs are things that I went through, and that’s why I put that all together.” Related Artists Selena Gomez
