‘My Life As Liz’ Star Reveals Why She Moved To New York

By Jocelyn Vena Liz Lee Photo: MTV News On Monday night’s season finale of “My Life as Liz,” Liz Lee bid a fond farewell to Burleson, Texas, to make a new life for herself in New York City. And on Tuesday (March 9), the anniversary of the Notorious B.I.G.’s death , she says the iconic Brooklyn rapper inspired her to take the giant leap and head to the Big Apple. “Well, he talks about New York in his work, and it seemed like New York was such an inspiration to him that I thought, I need to go here,” she told MTV News, adding that the Biggie classic “Juicy” is one of her favorites. “Like, it’s kind of necessary to experience it.” And while Biggie’s words may have brought Lee to the city, there’s still a part of her that misses her pals back in Texas, especially after watching the finale herself. “To see all of my friends and the look on their faces when I actually left, that was surprising,” she said. “It was almost like their support was tangible and visible, and it made me miss them a lot. Seeing the last episode made me kind of sad.” Lee also experienced a last-minute surprise when her longtime crush, Bryson, finally expressed his feelings for her. Still, she knew she couldn’t stay behind for him. “There was that hesitation [when he told me how he felt], but I felt like, if he really cared about me, that he just wanted me to be happy,” she said. “And I feel like that was another thing that pushed me to New York, [because] all of my friends cared so much.” So, how does Lee feel about the end of her show’s first season? “I was actually kind of relieved after the season finale, ’cause you know, you work so hard for so long to have this final product, you’re kind of relieved,” she said. “Then there’s that feeling of sadness, ’cause it’s over, and it was a really fun ride. We already learned that Ne-Yo would telephone Lady Gaga up about her unique sense of style, and now some of our favorite vampires, “Twilight” star Kellan Lutz and “True Blood” star Stephen Moyer are letting us in on just what they’d have to say to Gaga if they could get her on the phone. “Her creativeness,” Lutz told MTV News. “I love to invent stuff and she’s so inventive. She’s so creative and I love people who think that way and are very just out-there and don’t care and do whatever.” He added that he admires Gaga’s ability to not let other people influence her in any way. “They don’t let the world shape them and for me, I’d love to just pick her brain about how she thinks on anything … anything in the world,” he said. “True Blood” star Moyer said that if he’s going to talk to Gaga about anything, it’s going to be about how to get the perfect Gaga look. “I would call her about what to wear,” he offered. ” ‘Cause I’m meeting her at ‘[Friday Night with] Jonathan Ross’ in London. So when he was asked what he would ask Lady Gaga about in a phone call, not surprisingly he chose a fashion topic. “I would call her and ask her how dangerous is it to wear some of those outfits she wears,” Ne-Yo confessed to MTV News about Gaga’s eccentric sense of style. “I saw her with this thing … it had, like, spikes on it and it was like a big ball. Nicole Scherzinger Calls Pussycat Dolls Lineup Shifts ‘Inevitable’

By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Larry Carroll Nicole Scherzinger Photo: MTV News With the search on to fill out the Pussycat Dolls lineup after several members left the group to pursue other interests, the only surviving Doll, Nicole Scherzinger, admits that changes within the group are “inevitable.” But Scherzinger insisted that all the girls who left are like family to her, and she only wants them to find success and happiness in their new careers. “You know what? I’ve always looked at the Pussycat Dolls as a family,” she told MTV News. “We were really a sisterhood. We were together for six years, nonstop, 24/7. And I know a lot of them are pursuing their own solo projects and future endeavors, and I wish them nothing but the best.” While she’s still fully committed to the girl group, she knows that people sometimes need to move on to find their own happiness. “I believe they are beautiful and talented girls. And I believe in them, and I just want them to be happy,” she said. “Success means different things to different people, so whatever brings them happiness, I wish them that.” Still, she knows that in the world of girl groups, breakups and shakeups are the norm. “It’s kind of inevitable, right? When it comes to girl groups, I think we did the best that we could for a good chunk of time,” she explained. “We had an amazing time, and then people change and people grow, and sometimes things aren’t right for them. We’re all artists — just go and be creative. I love the PCD. It’s been a blessing for me. Nick Cannon Plans To Beat Justin Bieber In Bowling

By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Christopher “C.J” Smith Photo: MTV News Justin Bieber went bowling for his birthday , and he goofed around with Drake and Ludacris at an alley in his music video for “Baby.” Now Nick Cannon wants to throw some strikes and spares with the Canadian teen sensation when he arrives in New York City to promote his new album, My World 2.0 . “Oh yeah! Justin Bieber and I are going bowling courtesy of my morning show,” Cannon told MTV News. Cannon announced the match , which takes place on My World 2.0 ‘s release date of March 23, on Twitter. “His album comes out on March 23 and [so does the album by an] artist that I have signed, the School Gyrls. So we got a little competition, me and Bieber.” And Cannon is more than willing to tease Bieber about his ability to roll in the run-up to the match. “Justin can’t bowl. I don’t know if you’ve seen his latest video, but his form is off. So I know I’m gonna win. So me and Justin [will go] head to head at the bowling alley. We’re just bringing out as many people from New York [to] Lucky Strike for a release party. Biebermania!” Bieber may have his own mania, but Cannon is confident that he has the superior skill. “Of course I’m gonna win,” he said. “I’m athletic. Justin Bieber, he can sing and dance and all of that, but I think I got him in the blowing department.” While Cannon may be dismissive of Bieber’s bowling technique, he does have many kind words for the teen sensation’s musical abilities. “I think he’s an amazing talent, and My World 2.0 is gonna be crazy! Ne-Yo ‘Doing Something A Little Different’ On Next Album

By Jocelyn Vena Ne-Yo Photo: MTV News In 2008, Ne-Yo declared it was the Year of the Gentleman and later spawned hits like “Closer” and “Miss Independent.” In the time since the album’s release, he’s worked with Rihanna in the studio to craft her album Rated R and tried his hand at a Hollywood career in the upcoming action flick “Battle: Los Angeles.” Now Ne-Yo is ready to hit the studio again to work on a new solo effort. “I am, yes,” he confirmed to MTV News. “I wish I could [tell you more details] — I can’t, unfortunately. If I tell you, I’m gonna give it away and then it’s not going to be the surprise that I want it to be. I can’t show you your gift before Christmas.” And although he wasn’t willing to name names, Ne-Yo did hint at some collaborations he was hoping to make happen. “Perhaps, maybe … no! No,” he said when asked if he could give is some specific details. “Just know I’m doing something a little different this time around. Just be expecting that were gonna bring back entertainment — that’s what were gonna do. Yes, I’ve decided to make it the lifetime of the gentleman.” Ne-Yo has also been keeping his fans in the loop on his recording process via his Twitter page , where he shared he’ll be heading to Atlanta to record the album. “Back in the US! By Jocelyn Vena Rihanna Photo: PictureGroup/ Evan Agostini After her more morose turn on her 2009 release, Rated R, Rihanna has promised that her follow-up disc will be “more energetic.” And hitmaking producer and songwriter Sean Garrett is one of the people helping to spruce up Rihanna’s edgier sound. “I got a record on Rihanna’s new album,” Garrett tells Rapup.com . “She’s got some surprises. The record I gave her was very, very positive, very big. It’s a f—ing smash.” The track, he says, is “a humongous radio record,” more in tune with her previous releases like “Umbrella” and even her latest single, “Rude Boy.” “It’s just so infectious. It’s about getting past any drama and just being happy to be alive,” he explained. “It’s an encouraging record. It feels great, and it’s got great tempo. I made sure that it was bulletproof. “It should be a single unless something crazy happens,” he continued. “It’s hot as f—. I think it’s a record that’s gonna stay on the radio for a long time.” Garrett, like some fans and critics, was surprised about the dark material on Rated R. — and not in a good way. “Whenever I think of Rihanna, it makes me happy. So when he was asked about his feelings on cougars, and more specifically Betty White, on “The View” this week while promoting his flick “Remember Me” with Emilie de Ravin, it was his very unexpected response to older women and White that has the comedy vet herself laughing. “I think Betty White is probably one of the sexiest women in America,” Pattinson said on the talk show Tuesday. “She’s vibrant; it’s sexy. I think the more age, the better.” And while Pattinson may or may not have been joking, White certainly thought the 23-year-old “Twilight” star’s response was actually pretty funny. “Now that is a comedy line!” the 88-year-old “Golden Girls” star said in response to Pattinson’s kind words in a statement to Access Hollywood . White has found herself at the forefront of pop culture most recently for her very funny Snickers ad that aired during the Superbowl.
