Justin Bieber Raves About ‘Amazing’ New Single ‘U Smile’

‘We really love the song, so we decided to cut it,’ he tells MTV News of the My World 2.0 track. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: MTV News On Tuesday (March 16), Justin Bieber released his latest single, “U Smile,” from March 23’s My World 2.0. Bieber told MTV News that the single felt like it had just the right vibe to include on his sophomore album, a follow-up to 2009 debut, My World. Bieber helped co-write the song along with Jerry Duplessis, Arden Altino and Dan Rigo, but he had particularly high praise for someone else he worked with on the track. “I worked with August. I got him. He’s a really good writer,” Bieber said of his friend and collaborator. “The song is amazing. We really love the song, so we decided to cut it. It’s really amazing.” On the sugary-sweet, Motown-inspired track, Bieber sings, “If you need me/ I’ll come right there/ From a thousand miles away/ When you smile, I smile.” Bieber’s video for “Baby” had him bowling alongside Drake and Ludacris . So what plans does he have in store for the “U Smile” clip? Well, first he has to decide to shoot a video for it. “We haven’t shot it yet,” he said, adding that he’s not the guy to ask about any concepts that may be floating around. “I don’t know. I don’t do the visual projects. I’m just a singer.” On Tuesday afternoon, Bieber tweeted about the song’s quickly growing popularity. “Wrote this song for u guys, and now u are all helping it climb the TOP TEN of ITUNES … U SMILE is #10 already! thank u so much. Lets go #1!” he wrote. “Was extremely grateful when yesterday someone told me ‘U SMILE’ sounded like an old Motown classic … very cool.” What do you think of Justin’s new song? Jessica Simpson Is ‘Stronger’ After Shooting ‘The Price of Beauty’

‘I know there’s nothing that anybody can say about me that will take me to a very low place,’ Simpson tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Jessica Simpson Photo: WireImage She’s been criticized by people for her appearance. She’s had John Mayer talk about her private life to Playboy magazine. And while these things might have gotten under Jessica Simpson’s skin in the past, the singer, who premiered her new VH1 docu-series “The Price of Beauty” on Monday night, said these days, she’s up for any challenge. “I definitely faced a lot of fears in every country that we went to, but that’s what it was about,” she told MTV News. “It was about going out there and seeing how far I can push myself and seeing what I can discover. Like, ‘Who am I?’ ” She added that given her new, fresh perspective on things, she doesn’t care what anyone has to say these days. “I view the world very differently,” she said. “Everything’s not as big of a deal as people make it out to be, and that’s a really great place to be in. I know there’s nothing that anybody can say about me that will take me to a very low place, because I am stronger.” It was her experiences traveling all over the globe that gave Simpson strength. “The extremes [people] go to to feel beautiful, I think our society puts way, way too much pressure on a woman to feel beautiful,” she said. “But the extremes that we saw in all these different countries were amazing. It was, like, outrageous. “We went to Uganda. We were in fattening huts [where] the fatter you are, the more beautiful you are in this certain village we were in,” she continued. “And so the men want their women to look like cows, because the cows are their prize possession. So the bride-to-be has to gain 90 pounds before she gets married. It does push its limits to what’s healthy, what’s not healthy. I’ve done all kinds of stuff on this trip.” Did you watch Jessica’s new show? What do you think about the lengths people will go to for beauty? Weigh in below! Jessica Simpson ‘Found An Inner Peace’ Filming ‘The Price Of Beauty’

‘I think it’s going to be such an incredible show for women of all ages to watch,’ she says. By Jocelyn Vena Jessica Simpson Photo: MTV News Jessica Simpson hit the road last year to film her new VH1 show, “The Price of Beauty.” At the time the pop star had been inundated with negative press about her appearance and reported weight gain. And after an eye-opening journey around the world, Simpson said she learned what was truly beautiful about herself. “I think that [the show] is such a great concept and I think it’s going to be such an incredible show for women of all ages to watch. You definitely learn a lot about all these different cultures,” she told MTV News about her show, premiering Monday (March 15) on VH1, adding that the filming was very personal for her. “The reason why I wanted to go on this journey was to discover that, for myself, what was beautiful inside me and just to listen to these women talk and hear their stories,” she explained. “And I had gone through a really hard time in the past year with people, just, they keep harping and me gaining weight, it made me so insecure that I really actually forgot who I was and I wanted to go on this journey to find myself again.” Now that she’s back in the States, she said she can easily face any criticism or even be able to handle any line of questioning, even if it’s about touchy subjects like John Mayer . “I definitely learned that I allow too many judgments of other people to seep in,” she said. “Even when you think you kind of got it together and you think you can ignore it, you do still fall asleep with those voices in your head. There’s no way to stop that. I think that going on this trip, all these places, I really just found an inner peace. I found something within myself that I didn’t know was there.” Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Jessica Simpson Related Artists Jessica Simpson

Lauren Conrad Brings ‘Accessible’ Clothing Line To Kohl’s

‘It’s all about incorporating new trends and putting our own twist on it,’ she says of her LC by Lauren Conrad brand. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Larry Carroll Lauren Conrad Photo: MTV News Lauren Conrad has hooked up with department store Kohl’s for her LC by Lauren Conrad clothing brand — if fans have always admired former “Hills” star’s laid-back, girly sense of style, now they can achieve the look. “It’s very much a California brand. It’s all about incorporating new trends and putting our own twist on it — relaxed cool without trying to hard,” she told MTV News at a press event for the line, adding that there’s a piece in her collection for every occasion. “I have a few [favorite pieces] … a favorite piece for what? You have to dress the part!” she laughed. “I do a lot of basics, so we have a great blazer, a high-waisted black skirt and biker jacket and all those pieces can be traded throughout … it’s a lot of layering, a lot of switching-up, so you can get more mileage.” There’s a reason the line is very feminine — LC only has plans to design for the ladies. “I’m not a boy,” she joked, adding she’s too “selfish” to design clothes that she can’t wear herself. And while there were probably other retailers clamoring to get LC’s designs in their stores, she had a very specific reason for working with Kohl’s. “They’re very accessible. They’re everywhere and they’re online and they’re affordable,” she explained. “It was a fun way for me to work with a really great company and to say, ‘This is what I think is going to be in in a couple months’ and ‘This is what I’m gonna wear at a great price point and great quality.’ ”

Lady Gaga’s ‘Telephone’ Looks: Fashion Experts Weigh In

Kelly Cutrone, Robert Verdi and more give us their opinions on the fashions worn by Gaga in her latest video. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga in her video for “Telephone” Photo: twitter.com/ladygaga After an attempt to decode just what might happen in Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” video , it’s time to take a look at some of the fashion-forward ensembles Gaga has been sporting in the leaked photos leading up to the video’s Thursday premiere. She’s worn everything (and nothing) from crime-scene tape to leather and studs and MTV News gathered a few fashion experts to weigh in on some of Gaga’s “Telephone” looks. The Telephone Eye Patch Made of Hair Kelly Cutrone, “The Hills” and “Kell on Earth” : “I just love this whole thing. It’s totally insane.” Robert Verdi, celebrity stylist : “It’s interesting that Gaga is inspired by the telephone because it’s almost an object of yesteryear. There’s something really almost nostalgic already about a telephone, particularly in the way she’s using it in some of them. She’s deconstructing it and it’s somehow metaphoric for communication and it’s attached to her head, which is kind of the direction we’re going in.” The American Flag Ensemble Cutrone : “[This look is] a little like if a baton twirler had sex with David Lee Roth and Axl Rose.” Verdi : “She’s wearing the American flag and her hair’s down kind of like a hippie. I think she’s inspired by Jimi Hendrix in that frame.” Richie Rich, Heatherette designer : “It’s a little Guns N’ Roses and it’s cool.” How the “Telephone” Look Fits Into Gaga’s Aesthetic Cutrone : “I think she’s growing up nicely and starting to bust out on her own. I think she’s making much stronger pop-art statements.” Richie : “As an artist she’s branching out a little bit more. I think now she’s actually showing herself off more.” What Lady Gaga look do you love the most? Tell us in the comments! Liz Lee Says Justin Bieber Has ‘Definitely Influenced’ ‘My Life As Liz’ Co-Star Bryson

‘The swoop! They have the Bieber swoop!’ she jokes about similarities in their hairstyles. By Jocelyn Vena Liz Lee Photo: MTV News While Liz Lee claims she will never wear a Snooki-style poof , she does see a hairstyle resemblance between her “My Life as Liz” crush Bryson’s hair and that of teen pop star Justin Bieber . With their sideswept bangs and dirty blond locks, they do have twinsie hairstyles. Lee laughs off the similarities. “The swoop! They have the Bieber swoop!” she joked to MTV News when she stopped by to talk about the “My Life as Liz” season finale . “I feel like Justin Bieber has definitely influenced Bryson as a whole: his lifestyle, his music.” She went on to say that while shooting the show, Bryson would often serenade her with Bieber’s tunes. “Bryson often would do a nice little Justin Bieber dance number,” she said. “I can’t tell you how many times I had to hear ‘One Less Lonely Girl’ from Bryson.” Her romantic relationship with Bryson is still up in the air, but it seems that the two are already taking cues from Bieber on how to win each other back, if that should be in the cards. “We had a dance-off at a bowling alley one time. Drake was there, and Ludacris,” she joked, adding that the MCs seem like the perfect guys to hang out with the teenaged Bieber. “Especially with little kids. I feel like when I was a child that was really what I needed to hear.” As season one wrapped, Bryson finally admitted that he had feelings for Lee. But it was almost too late — she still decided to move to New York to pursue her dreams. “There was that hesitation [when he told me how he felt], but I felt like, if he really cared about me, that he just wanted me to be happy,” she said. “And I feel like that was another thing that pushed me to New York, [because] all of my friends cared so much.” Related Photos My Life As Liz | Ep. 9 | The End Of The Beginning My Life As Liz | Cast
