With the new “American Idol” panel going pretty easy on this year’s top 13 so far, it’s starting to sound like there will be more of the same back-patting on the upcoming NBC singing competition “The Voice.” “There is no good and bad,” said Christina Aguilera , one of the show’s mentors, in her first public appearance since her arrest for public intoxication earlier this month. Aguilera sat in one of the oversize swivel chairs alongside fellow judge/coach Adam Levine on Tuesday to talk up the show, which premieres on April 26. “This isn’t about tearing people down. I want to bring these people up,” she added, according to Entertainment Weekly. ” ‘The

Christian Bale Talks ‘Dark Knight Rises’: ‘We’ve Got To Up It’

Actor tells MTV News he’s ‘very excited, because if [‘Batman’ series director Christopher Nolan] maintains, this will be the last one.’ By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Christian Bale Photo: MTV News News about the third installment of Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale’s “Batman” series has been slowly dripping out over the past few months. Nolan officially committed to direct in September, “Inception” actor Tom Hardy joined the cast in October, and a few weeks later, the title, “The Dark Knight Rises,” was announced. So, yes, we’ve been learning snippets of info here and there. All along the way, though, Bale himself hasn’t learned much more than us. “Chris will let me know what I need to know when I need to know it,” Bale told MTV News while promoting “The Fighter.” “It’s our fourth movie together. I probably know a little bit more than some other people out there, but I think most people would be surprised at how little I do know.” One thing Bale does know is that this will bring their “Batman” series to a close . That’s what Nolan said back in March, and that’s what has Bale looking forward to the “Dark Knight Rises” shoot. “Very excited, because if Chris maintains, this will be the last one,” Bale said, adding, “We’ve got to up it.” The production is set to kick off in New Orleans in April . That gives the 36-year-old Bale more than enough time to get into the mind-set of Bruce Wayne. Plus, after working together on two “Batman” flicks and 2006’s “The Prestige,” the pair know what to expect from each other. “It just hasn’t been necessary yet,” Bale explained about not knowing very much about the upcoming film. “I know he’ll give me plenty of time to prepare for whatever I need to, and I’ll discover it. He’s a pretty damn good filmmaker. I trust that he’s going to come up with something wonderful.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Dark Knight Rises.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com .

Ashley Greene May Join Miley Cyrus In ‘LOL’

‘Twilight’ star in talks to play ‘high school bad girl.’ By Adam Rosenberg Ashley Greene Photo: Didier Messens/ WireImage “Eclipse” opens Wednesday (June 30), and the stars of the “Twilight” series are preparing for some time away from Stephenie Meyer’s sparkly vampire universe. With the two-part “Breaking Dawn” not shooting until the end of this year, the actors are free to pursue other projects. Ashley Greene is taking advantage of the break; she and “Hung” star Thomas Jane are both in talks to join Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore in “LOL.” The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Ashley Hinshaw and George Finn have joined the cast as well. “LOL” is a remake of the 2008 French movie “LOL (Laughing Out Loud),” directed by Lisa Azuelos. The story follows Cyrus as a teenage high schooler, recently dumped by her boyfriend (Finn), who must deal with her divorced mother (Moore) and a range of other issues in her life. If cast, Greene will play a “high school bad girl” while Jane will play Cyrus’ character’s father. Greene has a very busy schedule these days. In the midst of doing press for “Eclipse,” she recently wrapped her work on the ensemble indie comedy “Butter,” a story centered around a butter sculpting competition in the Midwest. She’ll also star with “Harry Potter” actor Tom Felton next fall in the Todd Lincoln-directed horror thriller “The Apparition.” Jane doesn’t have any other announced upcoming features at the moment, but the second season of “Hung” kicked off this past Sunday. Azuelos wrote and is set to direct the American-language remake of her 2008 film. The French original was her second solo effort as a director. Azuelos wrote and directed the French romantic comedy “Hey Good Looking!” in 2006; she also collaborated as co-writer and co-director with Patrick Alessandrin on the 1995 feature “Ainsi soient-elles.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .

Sigourney Weaver To Co-Star With Taylor Lautner In ‘Abduction’

‘Avatar’ star will play Lautner’s character’s psychiatrist in the 2011 thriller. By Adam Rosenberg Sigourney Weaver Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images Based on the latest casting announcement, you’d be forgiven for thinking that “Abduction” focuses on a kidnapping perpetrated by little green men: Sigourney Weaver has joined the cast of the John Singleton-directed thriller. Weaver is set to star opposite Lily Collins and “Twilight” lead Taylor Lautner . Weaver is perhaps best known for her roles in sci-fi epics like “Avatar” and the “Alien” series, but “Abduction” is very much grounded in the real world. Lautner stars as a young man who one day discovers his own baby picture on a missing persons website. Variety reports that Weaver will play his psychiatrist. The story comes from a spec script by newcomer Shawn Christensen. The movie is set to shoot this July in Pittsburgh, with plans for a 2011 release. Gotham Group and Vertigo are producing along with Lautner’s Tailor Made label. Weaver will next be seen starring with Kristen Bell, Jamie Lee Curtis and Betty White in the Disney live-action release “You Again.” She has a number of other roles lined up as well, including Greg Mottola’s sci-fi comedy “Paul,” “Clueless” director Amy Heckerling’s ” ‘Sex and the City’ with vampires” movie “Vamps” and the long-awaited third “Ghostbusters” film. Lautner will of course next be seen reprising his role as Jacob Black in “Eclipse,” which hits theaters on June 30. He’s also got comic-book adaptation “Stretch Armstrong” lined up, from a script by Nicholas Stoller (re-writing Steve Oedekerk’s original), which is planned for an early 2012 release. It is expected that Lautner will be back on-set to shoot the final chapter in the “Twilight” series, “Breaking Dawn,” before the end of the year, though Summit’s rumored plans to break the story into two films remain unconfirmed. Jake Abel Joins ‘I Am Number Four’ Cast

‘Every day has been nothing but eating and lifting weights,’ the ‘Percy Jackson’ actor says of preparing to play a quarterback. By Josh Wigler Jake Abel Photo: Amy Graves/ Getty Images “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” actor Jake Abel has joined the cast of “I Am Number Four,” director D.J. Caruso’s adaptation of James Frey and Jobie Hughes’ forthcoming science-fiction novel of the same name, MTV News has learned exclusively. The sci-fi story focuses on nine aliens who survive the destruction of their home world at the hands of a ruthless rival species. The survivors flee to Earth and blend into their human surroundings in order to hide from the aliens who continue to hunt them. Abel will play Mark James, a high school football player who sees a social threat in Number Four, the young protagonist and new kid in school played by “Beastly” actor Alex Pettyfer. “Mark is a football player at the school and he’s skeptical of the new kid because he’s trying to move in on his ex-girlfriend,” Abel told MTV News in an exclusive interview. “He’s the high school jock who’s just loaded with insecurities. He masks them with his bravado and intimidation, but he’s threatened because this new kid is coming to school and there’s a lot of attention on him. A lot is happening around him.” Despite his experience as the villainous Luke Castellan in “Percy Jackson,” Abel’s antagonizing ways won’t intersect too heavily with the overarching sci-fi story of “I Am Number Four.” “Unfortunately, I’m not really getting involved with all of the crazy sci-fi stuff,” said the actor. “In a previous draft, there was a big fight scene that Mark was a part of and I was stoked for it. It was so wicked. Then I got a new rewrite, and suddenly Mark wasn’t in a fight anymore. I was really kind of bummed by that. It would have been a lot of fun!” That doesn’t mean Abel isn’t getting physical for the role. The actor revealed that he’s currently on a rigorous workout campaign to get into the kind of shape his football-playing character should be in. “Kind of at the last minute, D.J. Caruso reached out to me and said, ‘I want you to get big.’ So now they’ve got me [working with] a trainer, and now every day has been nothing but eating and lifting weights,” he laughed. “Luckily, he’s a quarterback, so he doesn’t have to be huge!” He’ll have to get into that idealized shape quickly, as Abel said he begins filming his role on June 9. Asked what he found the most appealing about “I Am Number Four,” the actor revealed: “What attracted me to it was D.J. Caruso, hands down. That’s what really made me want to do this. I think he’s really talented and has potential to be phenomenal. When we did the reading process for the audition, the notes that he gave me, we kind of spoke the same language. I’m really excited to see how he handles the situation on set.” Abel joins a growing cast, including the previously mentioned Pettyfer as Number Four, Timothy Olyphant as his guardian Henri, Teresa Palmer as the alluring Number Six and Kevin Durand as an alien antagonist.
