Javier Bardem’s Skyfall Baddie Takes a Page From The Joker

In a step up from previous Skyfall publicity memes like #Banal007 and James Bond’s Big Gay Resort brochure , the Daily Mail has a glimpse at Javier Bardem in character as the film’s as-yet-unnamed villain. The catch: He’s in costume as a police officer. Where have we seen this before? As other observers have pointed out , the blockbuster-franchise-baddie-as-cop routine perhaps reached its zenith in The Dark Knight , featuring Heath Ledger’s Joker impersonating one of Gotham City’s finest before busting loose with an assassination attempt. Bardem’s character has the same malevolent scowl; I doubt he’s charged with issuing parking tickets on double parked Aston Martins, but who knows? [ Daily Mail via Cinema Blend ]

The Voice Recap: Blind Auditions, Part III

It’s episode three of The Voice’s blind auditions, with Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton back in their red-spinning seats to evaluate talent. Anyway, who stood out last night and joined Teams Adam, Cee Lo, Blake and Xtina? Let’s break down the performances of some of Monday’s top Voice auditions … Katrina Parker (below) The 34-year-old insurance worker performed “What If God Was One Of Us” by Joan Osbourne. ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Star Anne Hathaway Talks Catwoman

‘It’s just a matter of doing your homework and getting underneath the character’s skin,’ actress says. By Kevin P. Sullivan Anne Hathaway in “The Dark Knight Rises” Photo: Warner Bros While it may feel like the trailers and photos from “The Dark Knight Rises” have shown us a lot from Christopher Nolan ‘s third and supposed final trip to Gotham City, we have yet to see that much from Catwoman. After spy photos from the set forced their hand, Warner Bros. released an early look at Anne Hathaway ‘s take on Gotham’s most notorious cat burglar astride the Batpod, but aside from that photo and her brief but enticing appearance in the theatrical trailer, Selina Kyle’s role in “Rises” remains a mystery. Hathaway did, however, open up to the L.A. Times ‘ Hero Complex during a visit to the London set of “The Dark Knight Rises.” She spoke at length about why she loves her so-far divisive costume and how her Catwoman fits into Nolan’s Gotham. Check out our photo analysis of Hathaway’s Catwoman. When Warner Bros. released the first photo of Hathaway in full Catwoman attire, fan reaction ranged from full-fledged support to outright hatred. Hathaway has always stood by the costume’s unusual take on the classic look, and she once again made her case to Hero Complex. “I love the costume because everything has a purpose,” she said. “Nothing is in place for fantasy’s sake, and that’s the case with everything in Christopher Nolan’s Gotham City.” Once Hathaway won the highly coveted role, she dove deep into research, taking in Catwoman’s classic comic book appearance and the original inspirations Bob Kane and Bill Finger used to create the character. Hathaway said she drew inspiration from actress Hedy Lamarr to help shape her performance. “[Lamarr] takes these long, deep, languid breaths and exhales slowly,” Hathaway said. “There’s a shot of her in [the 1933 film] ‘Ecstasy’ exhaling a cigarette and I took probably five breaths during her one exhale. So I started working on my breathing a lot.” From there, a lot of the heavy lifting belonged to Nolan and his brother Jonathan, who co-wrote the script with the director. According to Hathaway, this Catwoman follows the pattern set by Nolan’s other Gotham City residents. “You look at Heath’s performance as the Joker, there was a lot of madness there but there was also a grace and he had a code there. There’s a lot of belief and codes of behavior in Gotham and my character has one, too,” she said. “A lot of the way she moves and interacts with people is informed by her worldview. Chris has given us all such complex, defined, sophisticated worldviews that it’s just a matter of doing your homework and getting underneath the character’s skin.” Do you think Anne Hathaway will kill it as Catwoman? Ho Sit Down: Rush Limbaugh Accuses Michelle Obama Of Uppity-ism

Everybody knows that if there is one thing racist wanksters detest, it’s an “uppity negro”! Rush Limbaugh offered up his stinkin’ opinion on why our girl Chelly-O was booed at that NASCAR event saying them good ol’ All-American folk who are into car racing don’t like the First Lady for her “uppity” ways. SMH: Rush Limbaugh accused Michelle Obama of “uppity-ism” during his Monday show. Limbaugh was speaking about the First Lady’s recent reception at a NASCAR event, where both she and Jill Biden were booed by the crowd. He said it was not surprising that she was booed, because the crowd at NASCAR resented her healthy eating initiatives and her husband’s policies. “What the hell is there to cheer for?” Limbaugh asked. He said that people also didn’t like “paying millions of dollars” for Obama’s vacations. “They understand it’s a little bit of a waste,” he said. “They understand it’s a little bit of uppity-ism.” Michelle Obama has been a frequent target of Limbaugh’s. Previously, he has said she “doesn’t look like” she eats healthy foods, and criticized a trip she took to Target. Listen to his comments below: This joker is such a jerk. ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Trailer: An Expert Analysis!

We break down what we know so far about the return to Gotham City — and take a stab at some lingering questions. By Eric Ditzian and Josh Wigler Christian Bale in the teaser trailer for “Dark Knight Rises” Photo: Warner Bros. The “Dark Knight Rises” teaser trailer flickered across movie screens over the weekend, and then popped up online Monday afternoon. It features so many elusive references and inspired so much we-can’t-wait-until-the-2012-theatrical-release anticipation that we’re still talking about it today. So the MTV Movies team settled in for a detailed breakdown of what’s been unveiled, the new questions raised, and what the whole thing tells us about next year’s cinematic return to Gotham City. Batman, Where It All Began Director Christopher Nolan has spoken openly about how this film will bring his Caped Crusader trilogy to a conclusion, closing the narrative loop that kicked off with 2005’s “Batman Begins.” In that sense, it’s appropriate the trailer starts with footage (and voiceover, courtesy of Liam Neeson’s Ra’s Al Ghul ) from the original film. We also see Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne here as a man on a mission, very much an outcast from society and attempting to rediscover his true self. That’s quite to similar to the way we might find him at the start of “Dark Knight Rises” — Batman shunned from Gotham City after his battle with the Joker in “Dark Knight.” Beyond this thematic and visual connection, the early trailer footage indicates that the League of Shadows — the crew of martial arts badasses who trained Wayne before coming to battle him — will in fact play a key role in the new film. Where it gets interesting is that Ra’s Al Ghul apparently died in “Batman Begins,” but Neeson was reportedly spotted on the “Dark Knight Rises” set and is featured prominently, at least in voice, in the trailer. Very interesting … Commissioner Desperation Jim Gordon, it’s safe to say, has seen better days, which is saying lot, considering how much crap he’s been through in the last two films. The commissioner has been shot and had to fake his own death, but none of that compares to his plight here: curled up in a hospital bed, sucking on an oxygen mask and praying that the Batman will return from exile. Gordon has suffered some sort of beatdown, but why and from whom? The implication of what he’s saying is that Gotham City is in trouble. We’ve seen in the teaser poster and through this trailer that the urban environment is literally crumbling to the ground. Desperation, both emotional and physical, seems to be the theme of the trailer — a stark contrast to the hopeful tone of the title, “Dark Knight Rises.” Gordon here is begging Wayne to rise again; when and why he does remains to be seen. The Caped Quitter As we’ve already mentioned, Batman quits his role as the protector of Gotham City at the end of “Dark Knight.” This scene of Wayne doing push-ups, which comes from “Batman Begins,” is another flashback to a character attempting to rebuild (or create out of whole cloth) a new self. We’ll greet Batman in “Dark Knight Rises” as a man without a legacy, without a rock-solid reputation, a superhero who has to start from the ground up. That’s not going to be easy. Thus, in this context, this scene almost seems like it’s part of Wayne’s “Rocky”-esque training sequence. That, or an outtake from “The Prestige.” Facing Bane We’ve seen a glimpse of Tom Hardy’s Bane in a sneak-peek photo , but this is the first time we’re seeing his face. While Bane’s look is related to his comic-book roots, Nolan once again has shown a willingness to update these iconic visuals; Bane’s mask is far more S&M badass than the luchador -like villain from the comics. Yet it’s only the briefest of looks, speaking to Nolan’s deft touch with teasers: Fans are forced to watch the trailer again and again, pausing and rewinding as we seek to study this key bad guy. Listen to That Crowd As the trailer wraps up, we hear some ominous chanting. These are sounds we’ve heard since the beginning of the “Dark Knight Rises” promotional campaign in a viral video. The chanting sounds cultish and foreign and scary; put another way, it sounds like the handiwork of the League of Shadows. We’re likely to hear more of that chanting in the months before release, and we’ll hear a heck of a lot of it in the movie itself. The question remains: How does Bane fit into the League of Shadows-heavy story line? How does that baddie come to blows with Batman, as we see toward the end of the trailer? That last shot of the two men facing off has the feel of a boxing match, the scene caught by a handheld camera, Batman bouncing up and down like he’s in the ring. Noteworthy in that shot, as well, is a mysterious character in the upper right hand corner: Who is that and why would Nolan include him or her in the trailer? “Dark Knight Rises” detectives out there, it’s time to get to work! ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Trailer Hits The Net!

Clip offers glimpse of villain Bane in action while Liam Neeson’s Ra’s Al Ghul resurfaces in voiceover. By Terri Schwartz Tom Hardy as Bane in “The Dark Knight Rises” trailer Photo: Warner Bros. Pictures In exactly one year and two days, the Dark Knight will rise for the last time under the direction of Christopher Nolan. Fans flocking to the cinemas over the weekend to see “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” were lucky enough to catch the first teaser trailer of “The Dark Knight Rises,” the final installment of Nolan’s Batman trilogy. But now the official trailer has hit the Internet, teasing an apocalyptic conclusion to the beloved series. The latest clip appropriately teases the two elements of “The Dark Knight Rises” that have fans already so riled up. First off, a voiceover by Liam Neeson’s “Batman Begins” character, Ra’s Al Ghul, implies the connection to the first Batman movie that moviegoers have long suspected. “If you make yourself more than just a man, if you devote yourself to an ideal, then you become something else entirely,” he whispers. “A legend, Mr. Wayne, a legend.” When we last saw Batman, he was going into hiding after the destruction caused by the Joker and Two-Face. But the Batman must rise, and in new footage from the trailer, it’s Batman’s old friend, Commissioner Gordon, who asks him to do so. “We were in this together, and then you were gone,” says an incapacitated Gordon, played by Gary Oldman. “And now this evil rises. The Batman has to come back.” “This evil,” the second key trailer element, seems to imply Bane, the new “Dark Knight” villain played by Tom Hardy. Several shots of Bane are mixed in with the final moments of the trailer, a follow-up to the previously released photo of the man who broke the Bat. Among these images is also the first shot of Christian Bale as Batman in “The Dark Knight Rises.” The final look in the trailer — Gotham City’s skyscrapers crumbling down in a shape of the Bat symbol — hearkens back to the poster released last week. It certainly seems to imply that Gotham City might be destroyed while the Dark Knight does rise. There are still several characters left unseen, though, including Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard in presumed there-must-be-more-to-it-than-that roles. The Neeson voiceover opens up a whole new can of worms when it comes to the theory that Cotillard is actually playing Ra’s Al Ghul’s daughter, Talia Al Ghul, though whether that concept comes to fruition remains to be seen. Will Artie Lange Return to Howard Stern Show?

Recovering comedian Artie Lange said he would give anything to get his job back on the Howard Stern Show. He has not, however, asked Howard about it. Lange left the show in early 2010 after a sudden hospitalization. He later went to rehab to get his alcoholism under control, but is reportedly better now. Stern discussed Artie this morning, saying Lange’s comments “stirred up a whole bunch of conversation that I don’t even know how to begin to address.” Asked if Artie ever personally approached Howard to ask for his job back, Howard replied, “No, but I think he would if he could get a hold of me.” As for Artie’s possible return to radio with a new show , Howard said, “Of course I support it. I think it would be great. I’d like to listen to Artie.” Howard, whose show Lange was a fixture on for years, added, “I’m glad to hear he’s feeling better … I’m pulling for him. I hope he does okay.”

Justin Bieber Pranks Willow Smith

Photo Agency, Bauer Griffin Justin Bieber : YouTube sensation, pop star, heart breaker… prankster! We all know the 16-year-old is wildly talented, but we recently discovered he's quite the joker when he pulled a fast one on his friend (and opening act) Willow Smith . The Prankster. (Getty) So, just how did he manage to punk her? Well, he had a couple of crewn members throw on some bright hair extensions, then sent them out to act as backup dancers while Willow performed her hit “Whip My Hair” (as part of the opening act for the Bieb's Manchester concert last week). It took a few seconds for Willow to realize these hoodlums weren't really her dancers, and when she did she paused, looked surprised, then carried on like a champ. Then, she had to take a second AGAIN when Justin came out dancing like a wild man and clanking a cow bell as he whipped his hair back and forth. Awesome! Willow and her bro Jaden aren't accompanying the Bieb for the rest of his European tour (they arrived back in LA this weekend), but that just means Willow has lots of time to think about how she's going to get him back! See the video of the prank here: More Justin Bieber pics here:
