Angelina Jolie has become the target of more criticism, this time regarding her feature directorial debut, not just her hatred of Thanksgiving . A love story set during the Bosnian War, her film was cut short after rumors that it portrayed a relationship between a rapist and his victim. The project has sparked protests and was called “ignorant” by a group of women who were victims of sexual violence during the 1990s war. In a letter to the United Nations refugee agency, for which the movie star is a goodwill ambassador, the Women Victims of War criticized her sharply. They say they are “deeply concerned about the movie.” “Angelina Jolie’s ignorant attitude towards victims says enough about the scenario and gives us the right to continue having doubts,” the letter read. After rumors of the rapist story line surfaced in October, a group of Bosnian War rape victims pressured officials to withdraw Jolie’s filming permit. The rumors proved to be untrue. The country’s minister of culture read the script – about a Bosnian woman who falls in love with a Serb man – and Jolie’s permit was reinstated. However, Jolie earlier this month cut the shooting schedule from 10 days to three and decided to film some of the scenes in Hungary instead. At the time, Jolie said she wanted to meet with the groups that complained to clear up any misunderstanding, but no meeting ever transpired. “We have insisted to meet Angelina Jolie since we don’t want to be wrongly presented in the world … Our voices are worthwhile and we should have got much more respect,” the WVW letter read. “Angelina has made a big mistake.” “We feel that she did not act like a real UNHCR ambassador and we believe that she has no more credibility to remain the ambassador.” Wait until that big Angelina Jolie drug video leaks!

Rumored plot of Jolie’s directorial debut coming under fire from women’s group. By Eric Ditzian Angelina Jolie on the set of her untitled Bosnian film Photo: AFP Despite pointed criticism from a women’s group and production-permit issues with the Bosnian government, shooting on Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut has been proceeding swiftly enough that two versions of the movie have reportedly been filmed: one in English and one in the actors’ native language. But that achievement doesn’t mean Jolie’s problems in Bosnia are over. Rape victims from the 1992 Bosnian War plan to file a complaint to the United Nations refugee agency, according to the Associated Press . The Women Victims of War association has been voicing concerns about Jolie’s film since last month, citing rumors of a potential plot involving a rape victim falling in love with her captor. Jolie herself responded to those concerns in a statement in October, saying, “There are many twists in the plot that address the sensitive nature of the relationship between the main characters, and that will be revealed once the film is released … My hope is that people will hold judgment until they have seen the film.” The Women Victims of War’s head, Bakira Hasecic, however, is not waiting until the movie is finished. Her group plans to send a letter to the UN complaining about Jolie — who is a goodwill ambassador for the agency — and her refusal to divulge plot details about the still-untitled movie. A rep for Jolie has already denied that the film contains any such inflammatory storyline, while Jolie herself has acknowledged the difficulty of making a movie based on real-life events. “Obviously, any dramatic interpretation will always fail those who have had a real experience,” she said in her statement.

Jolie refuses to celebrate Thanksgiving, feels it’s a “story of murder.” Yet, oddly, she and Mr. Pitt have not relinquished their homes on Native American soil back to the Indians and given all of their money to the victims. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Angelina Jolie Photo: MTV News The action/thriller “Salt” finds Angelina Jolie in a near-constant state of flux: first blond, then brunet; one minute a loyal CIA agent, the next on the run as an accused Russian spy. “Maybe that’s why I liked it so much, getting to play this character,” she told MTV News recently. “I got to be all different people all the time. I think there is [a complex] element to all of us. That’s why we like espionage.” A bit of complexity might be universal, but it’s just that sort of ambiguity that scared studios off from the script for so many years. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura had been trying to sell the project as a Jason Bourne-style thriller to studios for years — for a while Tom Cruise was attached to star — but he couldn’t get anyone to green-light the movie. “One of the strengths of the movie is one of the things people were initially scared about, which is you don’t know at times if you should root for or against her,” di Bonaventura told us. “The script does not follow conventional rules.” Eventually, di Bonaventura switched gears entirely, re-conceiving Salt as a woman instead of a man and recruiting Jolie for the starring role. Of course, they’ve also created a life for themselves offscreen, raising a brood of six together and traveling the world on a variety of philanthropic projects. So, is Hollywood’s sexiest A-list couple ready for a sequel? “People have tried. And it’s strange: Do we have kids in the movie?” Angelina Jolie considered in an interview with Vanity Fair. “We’ve thought about that, but it becomes personal now that we actually have kids. And if we work on it, we pull from our own life, which is funny to us, but you feel strange sharing too much,” Jolie said in the magazine’s August issue. “We did ask somebody to look into ‘Mr. & Mrs.’ to see if they could crack a sequel, but there wasn’t anything original. It was just, ‘Well, they’re going to get married, or they’ve got kids, or they get separated.’ Never great,” she added. But even if the chances of a sequel to the 2005 flick seem slim, Jolie said she’d be game to team up with partner Pitt for another project. “I’d love to. We’ve talked about it. We’d have to figure out who’s going to watch the kids, but it’s really about finding the right thing, because we’ve looked,” she explained. “When you’re a couple, there are certain things people don’t want to see you do. It becomes too indulgent, too personal. I don’t think people want to see people who are really together intimate onscreen.” Jolie, however, had an idea about how to avoid filmgoers’ tendency to reject some real-life couples hooking up onscreen (see: Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck circa “Gigli”). “Maybe we have to play bad guys that try to kill each other,” said the actress, whose “Salt” arrives in theaters July 23 . “So it’s just fun and aggressive, not dealing with some man-woman deal.” Do you think Brad and Angelina should team up on the big screen again?
