With June widely considered Pride Month, the candy has gone all-white in various markets because, as the company behind Skittles explains, “during Pride, only one rainbow matters. So we’ve given up ours to show support.” The Skittles taste the same, it's worth noting. The typical colors associated with this beloved candy are simply the result of dye, not flavor of any kind. But try telling that to the Internet! As you might expect, a variety of users are responding in a variety of ways to this news. And not every reaction is positive… 1. These are White Skittles Yes, they look unusual. But remember the basis for the temporary change? It’s an admirable cause. 2. There’s still so much that we don’t know, with statements and rumors that seem to be in conflict, and dumb guys saying dumber things instead of telling us what happened. And now, Corinne Olympios, the woman at the center of the controversial and mysterious scandal that got production suspended on Bachelor in Paradise , has finally broken her silence. Speaking to TMZ , the one-time “Bachelor Villain” struck a much more serious tone than usual as she discussed the controversy . “I am a victim and have spent the last week trying to make sense of what happened on June 4.” “Although I have little memory of that night, something bad obviously took place, which I understand is why production on the show has now been suspended and a producer on the show has filed a complaint against the production.” That’s all very … carefully worded and nuanced and exactly what she should be saying, considering the circumstances and the many, many potential legal complications. But then she gets about as real as she can about what happened. “As a woman, this is my worst nightmare and it has now become my reality.” That’s the grim truth. There’s a lot that makes this case complex, from questions of who’s culpable for what to questions about exactly what happened. Unfortunately, it sounds like Corinne is nearly as in the dark as the rest of us. “As I pursue the details and facts surrounding that night and the immediate days after, I have retained a group of professionals to ensure that what happened on June 4 comes to light and I can continue my life, including hiring an attorney to obtain justice and seeking therapy to begin dealing with the physical and emotional trauma stemming from that evening.” That is … horrifying. Any situation that looks like a sexual assault is going to be dreadful beyond words, but there’s a unique horror to having to piece together events after the fact along with the rest of the world. Corinne is not the first member of the Bachelor in Paradise cast to speak out , but, as she herself said, she’s the victim . We care a lot more about what she has to say about things than we do about a bystander. To be clear, it looks like DeMario Jackson was nearly as much of a victim in this. He’s already stated that the tapes will vindicate him , and Corinne hasn’t been pointing the finger at him, either. Quite frankly, if they were both drinking all day, and if he was really too drunk to even get an erection, then it looks like the story’s pointing the finger at producers and crew. Not all of them, obviously, but probably at anyone who let it happen and definitely at anyone who might have deliberately caused the situation. Maybe we’ll find out. Ugh, we can already see this becoming a ripped-from-the-headlines episode of Law & Order: SVU , but with a twist, because they love their twists, even when it makes the story completely different from the real headlines. And yes, right now, it’s Warner Bros that’s carrying out the investigation, which is a little odd. They’re probably looking for liability issues and at who needs to get fired. But it sounds like a police investigation is almost inevitable. We’d fully expect Warner Bros to hand over names and evidence to police, even if just to prove that they’re cooperating fully. Maybe, once their investigation makes more headway, we’ll all know more. Corinne Olympios, at least, deserves to know the full story of what happened to her. Sexism is over! … Okay, not really. But Jon Gosselin’s post congratulating his girlfriend Colleen Conrad has some people chuckling over some refreshing role reversals. Which should not, of course, distract from celebrating this couple’s good news. Jon Gosselin’s girlfriend, Colleen Conrad, graduated from nursing school. The reality personality took to Instagram to congratulate her, his caption indicating that she intends to become a nurse practitioner. Lately, we know that Jon Gosselin’s been working as a stripper . When he’s not saving people’s lives , that is. He’s credited the profession with putting his life back on track, which makes sense — with his novelty as a reality star, it could definitely pay the bills. We’ve all heard stories of women who were strippers to put their boyfriends or fiances or husbands through medical school, or who at least stripped during that time. You know, in anticipation that the future doctor or nurse would eventually become the breadwinner. Some pointed out similarities, though we’ve seen no indications that Jon’s been bankrolling her through school or anything like that. But it’s always nice to hear a man praising his girlfriend’s career milestones instead of the other way around. Stripping can be a great way to make money and some find it empowering, but the age range for it to be a viable career is pretty limited. In other words, medical professionals are likely to make more with age. Over time, strippers are likely to make less . In Jon Gosselin’s case, he’s kind of older than you usually picture a stripper being, but — and we say this with no intended offense — we think that his career is based more on his fame than on his looks. And that’s totally okay. So, if the Jon Gosselin’s novelty wears off before he lines up a new gig, if he and Colleen are still together, she could be the breadwinner for a while. Jon Gosselin’s still famous, even though he’s no longer a reality star. Though he’s glad that his family’s time in the spotlight has provided for a financial future for his children, he’s expressed concerns in the past that the fame may impact them in unforeseen ways. Honestly? We don’t think that he needs to worry. Growing up famous can screw with you plenty — just look at Kylie Jenner. But for the Gosselin children, we can’t imagine that the long-term mental scarring from fame will hold a candle to the damage of being raised by that beast Kate Gosselin . We also think that he knows that, but probably has very good reasons for not saying it. Custody situations can be … complicated. But this moment is about Jon and Colleen, and not Jon’s heavy personal baggage. We’re glad that they were able to toast to her graduation from nursing school and to her new career. Honestly, we hope that Jon sticks to stripping for a while if he’s enjoying it. You want to ride that fame train as far as it will take you, you know? So long as it keeps paying the bills, anyway.
Kate Gosselin says, in a new interview with Good Morning America today, that she's lost track of how many times she's been investigated. For child abuse, that is. It's that frequent an occurrence. Ditto how often Jon has threatened to take her to court. In a candid interview with Amy Robach, Kate was asked if her troubled son Collin really told staff at his treatment center that she was abusive. “I’m in the public eye. I’ve been investigated many times,” Kate responded, calling the claims “unfounded” and implying media sensationalism. Uncovered diary entries from her early days as a mom of eight show that Kate abused Collin and on more than one occasion, however. Collin is now being treated for “special needs.” “He’s plodding along,” she said, adding that in spite of what her ex says, “I’ll go to the ends of the earth for the best for each one of them.” Or, if you believe her ex, hiding them away. Jon claims Kate is holding Collin hostage , for all intents and purposes, and won't tell him where their kid is, so he's taking her to court. Kate says she’s not worried by his legal threats, sighing that she's heard it all before, to the point where it barely even registers now: “I’ve lost track of how many times he’s said that.” “I don’t really pay attention, to be honest.” Collin had been living in the “pre-adolescent unit” at a facility outside Philadelphia, two hours from her suburban Pennsylvania home. Kate Gosselin is about a million different kinds of terrible. It’s not new information, sure, but that doesn’t make it any less true. And if you really feel the need for new information about Kate’s wickedness, well, be careful what you wish for. You know that story about how Kate’s allegedly being investigated for child abuse ? It all started with her son, Collin — the one she sent off to a treatment center to deal with his “special needs.” According to an insider, “Collin said something to the facility’s staff and it was reported to the Children and Youth Services, which started an official probe.” “The police later notified Collin’s dad, Jon, that a child abuse investigation was opened.” When we first heard about the investigation, we thought it was a little odd that Jon’s been so quiet about it all. After all, it seems like Jon’s favorite activity is publicly slamming his ex-wife , and good for him. But now we’re learning that the reason Jon hasn’t commented on the alleged child abuse investigation might be that he’s just too damn sad. “He worries every single day for his son,” a source reveals . “Jon used to have to grab Kate by her wrist to stop her from beating Collin and some of the other kids with a wooden spoon.” “He often had to stand between Kate and the kids to stop her from hitting them.” And that’s not the only new bit of information about the case. If all these allegations are true and Kate is convicted, she could be looking at up to seven years in prison. And oh, what we wouldn’t give for that TLC special … Of course, the idea that Kate could be the subject of a child abuse investigation isn’t exactly surprising. Who could forget those journal entries of hers that were so alarmingly made public? When Collin was just two years old, Kate wrote that she got “too rough” with him after he refused to sit in a corner. “I feel so guilty that I treated him like that,” she confessed. “I will set out tomorrow to be a better mommy.” Kate’s remorse apparently didn’t last too long, because a few months later, she lost her damn mind when Collin — still two years old, mind you — had the audacity to spill a bag of beans. “I was instantly so SO angry,” she wrote, “that I grabbed him and spanked him as hard as I could and thought I may seriously injure him so I sent him to his crib til Jon came home!” “I have never felt that I may seriously injure a child but today was that day!” Gee, wonder why Collin has some emotional issues? Couldn’t have anything to do with his miserable mother, could it?
Is there any limit to Kate Gosselin’s awfulness? Seriously, is there any line she won’t cross, any occasion that might possible make her go “nah, this is too terrible, even for me”? Because it’s really not looking like it. In case you missed her latest act of horror, some police reports she made last year have recently come to light — reports in which she seems to say whatever she can think of to destroy her ex, Jon Gosselin. First, we heard her claims that Jon is secretly a drug dealer . Specifically, “Jon is a drug dealer, who uses his disc jockey employment as a front to sell narcotics.” She also reported that Jon some kind of “inappropriate relationship” with their daughter , and if you think that’s horribly vague and a disgusting claim to make, well, you’d be right. “She detects suspicious behavior between Jonathan and their 10-year-old daughter,” the police report read. In another report , an officer wrote that “Katie said that she hired a private detective to follow Jonathan and she was aware that Jonathan was at [the children’s school] right now.” “[She] believed that Jonathan was guarding [Hannah] and feared that if he saw her or the police, he would take [her] out of school and flee.” The report goes on to state that Kate went to the school and Jon wasn’t there, but she took Hannah home, just in case. … What? That barely even makes sense, but shame on us for pretending like Kate Gosselin is a reasonable human being . And also, shame on us for being even a little bit shocked by this new revelation. In a brand new tidbit from Kate’s now-infamous police reports, we’re learning that Kate claimed Jon had a gun. And that she was afraid he might use it on her. This ties in with the “private investigator” nonsense we heard before: Kate thought Jon was creeping around Hannah’s school for weird, vague reasons, and she had to pick the girl up to take her to a counseling appointment. While she was driving to the school, she called the police to inform them that “Jonathan does have a firearm.” She also reportedly told them that “she feared that there would be a hostile dispute if she arrived at the school while he was there.” And then, as we’d heard, Kate showed up to the school and Jon wasn’t even there, armed or not. So not only did Kate tell police Jon was a drug dealer, not only did she claim he had an “inappropriate relationship” with their daughter, not only did she claim he kidnapped the girl, but she also said that he had a gun and he might shoot her. What is wrong with her? Serious question. Is she just that disturbed that she feels the need to make all these horrific accusations against her former husband? Is Jon actually guilty of all these terrible things, and Kate is so unlikable that it makes her unbelievable? Clearly, the only solution is that we stop hearing from any and all Gosselins forever.
Jon Gosselin remains a douchebag. But he’s now a shocked and very angry douchebag. The former reality star, who America had been more than happy to forget all about for many years there, has been back in the news over the past several days or so. For all the wrong reasons. It started with the world finding out how Gosselin works part-time as a cook at a Fridays and as a DJ in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. After we dealt with that troubling information, Gosselin opened up in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. He said at the time that he really doesn’t see his eight children much at all; in fact, he hadn’t hung out little Collin in two years! “Everybody used to come to my house,” Jon said of his eight children; twins Maddie, Cara, and sextuplets Alexis, Hanna, Leah, Joel, Aaden and Collin. Then what happened? “Madelyn and Cara just stopped coming, around 12-13 [years old]. I didn’t question it. She then made it pretty clear just how pissed off she is at her dad. “He doesn’t even know us,” she said. “How can he dare to talk about us?” Cara let her sister do most of the talking in the interview, but her one sentence about Jon Gosselin almost said it all: “I wouldn’t even know what to say about him,” she uttered. We don’t want to take sides here, especially not with Kate Gosselin… but what sort of father doesn’t see any child for two years? Let alone a child with special needs?!? “I’ve felt very alone in this,” Kate said of her struggle to raise Collin and his seven siblings. “By the same token, it’s not something that has only impacted me or him – our entire family has been impacted.” Mady and Cara have made that clear. Earlier this week, we reported that Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have entered marriage counseling . Along with professional therapists and several other couples, the Duggars embarked on a retreat in Ozark National Forest amidst rumors that the many Duggar scandals of the past year had put a strain on their relationship. In response to those rumors Michelle and Jim Bob posted a statement on their Facebook page and explained to People magazine that their marriage was simply in need of a little fine-tuning. “Beautiful place, beautiful people, beautiful truths!” the Duggars said of the retreat that they claim brought them closer together. They reportedly told People that the retreat was timed so that they would be back in their hometown of Tontitown, Arkansas several weeks before Jessa Duggar’s due date . Jessa is expected to give birth to her first child on November 1, which also happens to be her one-year wedding anniversary. There’s no denying that 2015 has been packed with scandals and public humiliations for the Duggars, but unfortunately they now find themselves in a position where critics and former fans are looking for controversy where none exists. We’re sure Michelle and Jim Bob’s marriage is just fine. And we’re still hoping Anna will leave Josh while he’s in rehab , but that’s neither here nor there!
