Kris Humphries Seeks Annulment From Kim Kardashian

NBA star cites ‘fraud’ as the basis for their split. By Christina Garibaldi Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian Photo: Jerritt Clark/WireImage Nearly a month after Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kris Humphries, the NBA star is firing back, seeking an annulment to erase his brief 72-day marriage to the reality star on the grounds of fraud. Under California law, an annulment will be granted only if the court finds that there was no validity to the marriage. In his Superior Court filing, Humphries checked the boxes marked “nullity of voidable marriage,” citing “fraud” as the basis for their split. If Humphries is denied an annulment, he is seeking legal separation, which means the former couple could avoid all divorce proceedings. Back in October, Humphries released a statement, saying he was committed to working on repairing his short-lived marriage. “I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce,” he told People magazine at the time. “I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.” On October 31, Kardashian filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.” “After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision,” Kardashian said in a statement . “I had hoped this marriage was forever but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.” Court papers released online state that Kardashian requested the court uphold the prenuptial agreement the two signed before the wedding, which guarantees that the reality star will keep all money earned during their marriage. Kardashian and Humphries married on August 20 in a lavish $10 million affair that was captured by E! cameras and aired in a two-day television special. Their relationship is currently being played out on this season of “Kourtney and Kim Take New York.” The news comes on the same day as Kim’s sister, Kourtney Kardashian, revealed that she is pregnant with her second child with boyfriend Scott Disick. Britney Spears Experts Debate Final Four Videos

BreatheHeavy.com’s Jordan Miller puts his money on ‘Criminal’ as voting continues. By Christina Garibaldi Jason Trawick and Britney Spears in “Criminal” Photo: Jive It’s Final Four time in MTV News’ Britney Spears Tournament: 30 Videos for 30 Years . Hundreds of thousands of votes came in during round three — and that led to some shocking eliminations. Most notably, fan favorite “Toxic” lost out to “I’m a Slave 4 U,” which advanced to round two. “We thought that would be the biggest, tightest competition,” MTV Newsroom blog editor John Mitchell said of the contest between “Slave” and “Toxic.” “And it was the one that was separated by the most [votes].” The closest finish in the third round came down to this year’s “Till the World Ends” and “Lucky,” released in 2000. “Till the World Ends” held the lead for most of the voting, but a last-minute push by fans edged “Lucky” into the next round with a margin of just 128 votes. Now, it’s down to the Final Four. “Lucky” will take its chances against Spears’ latest video “Criminal,” which has a strong shot at the final round, according to BreatheHeavy.com’s Jordan Miller , who runs Britney’s biggest fan site. “I think ‘Criminal’ ‘s made it really far because it’s her latest music video that’s out,” Miller explained. “I think if that music video came out years ago, I don’t think it would be doing so well. It’s being promoted right now on TV and radio, but I think because it’s new to fans, it’s made it this far.” In the Final Four, “Slave 4 U” is facing off against “Hold It Against Me,” and MTV News experts predict “Slave” and “Criminal” will ultimately fight it out for the title of Best Britney Video of All Time. Spears herself recently weighed in on the competition with a tweet , hinting that boyfriend Jason Trawick was supporting “Criminal,” in which he co-stars with Brit. “It’s constantly been the most voted-upon bracket every single round,” MTV News’ Mitchell said of “Criminal.” “I think there’s a lot of groundswell behind that video; [Britney] obviously supports that video. I think that her fans are going to take it to the end.” Voting for the top four clips is open until 7 a.m. Thursday ; the top two will be unveiled at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning, followed by the big reveal of the winner at 10 a.m. ET on Friday, which happens to be Britney’s 30th birthday. MTV’s ‘DISconnected’ Is ‘Important,’ Pete Wentz Says

Movie about digital drama and its consequences premieres Monday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. By Kara Warner Pete Wentz Photo: MTV News LOS ANGELES — With the positive influence technology has had on our busy lives, there is a negative side, with those who abuse technology to hurt themselves and others. MTV has started to raise awareness and fight cyberbullying head-on with the creation of A Thin Lin and the new TV movie “DISconnected.” “DISconnected” revolves around four technology-dependent characters who all endure different types of digital drama and suffer consequences because of it. The film held a screening Wednesday night, and MTV News was lucky enough to catch up with a few star supporters to find out how they deal with the topic of digital drama and cyberbullying in their own lives. “It’s important to me, because having become an artist in the digital age, you get to see all the aspects of how being so connected works,” Pete Wentz said. “It’s such an amazing idea, but at the same time I think it allows people who are cowardly or anonymous, it gives them a lot of voice. Being a dad, knowing my son is going to grow up only knowing this [digital age], it’s really important for him to see that people do stand up and not everybody is hiding behind a computer screen. I want him to know that.” Actor Jordan Calloway, who plays one of the four main characters in the film, agreed with the importance of the film’s serious subject matter. “To be a part of this movement was really important to me, because it drives home a strong message that kids in society need to hear,” he said. “The fact that [director] Leslie [Libman] took it upon herself to get this message out to kids and all of us who use technology, it was really important for me, as a college student myself, to be a part of this, to be able to drive the point across. My character, Isaiah, is based on a true story, which is that of Abraham Biggs; he was a 19-year-old kid in Florida who actually did commit suicide.” Be sure to tune in to “DISconnected” on Monday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, and check out the movie’s Facebook page. Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman Isn’t First Controversial Costume

We look back at other divisive getups, including George Clooney’s Batman and Adrianne Palicki’s Wonder Woman. By Kara Warner Anne Hathaway on the set of “Dark Knight Rises” Photo: PhamousFotos/ Splash News Nothing causes a storm of online controversy like the first big reveal of an updated superhero costume — particularly when said costume is on a glamorous Hollywood starlet. Case in point: the paparazzi photo snapped on the Los Angeles set of “The Dark Knight Rises” that features a catsuit-clad Anne Hathaway in between scenes. The firestorm around the photo, as well as the detailed analysis that followed, reminded us of some other costumes that received the same obsessive treatment. MTV News reached out to Caleb Goellner, senior editor at Comics Alliance , for his thoughts on past lightning-rod getups. Halle Berry’s Catwoman All things considered, Hathaway’s costume has nothing on Halle Berry’s barely there, frequently mocked ensemble from 2004’s much-maligned “Catwoman,” which went on to win four Razzies for Worst Picture, Worst Actress, Worst Director and Worst Screenplay. “If somebody would’ve asked me, ‘Hey, you think it’d be feasible to fight crime wearing nothing but a few handfuls of random belts from a TJ Maxx after-Thanksgiving sale bargain bin circa 1984?’ In, like, 2003, I might’ve said, ‘Maybe,’ ” Goellner admitted. “I confess to not being open-minded enough for that response in a post-‘Catwoman’ world, though.” Adrianne Palicki’s Wonder Woman There is a decent argument to be made that the violent reactions to the costume worn briefly by Adrianne Palicki were a large part of the reason David E. Kelley’s TV series failed to get picked up. Also, from what we know about the pilot , it was not good. “Palicki’s costume seems like it was scrutinized more for its choice of materials than its cut,” Goellner said. “Nobody really agrees on what Wonder Woman is/should be, but fans seemed united in their cries for a TV costume with a less vinyl-y sheen.” George Clooney and Val Kilmer’s Batmen When Warner Bros. hired Joel Schumacher to direct “Batman Forever” and then “Batman & Robin,” they wanted him to make the films less Tim Burton-style dark and more family-friendly. The result? Nipples were inexplicably added to the Batsuits worn by Val Kilmer and George Clooney. “In a world where rubber costumes often feature fake abs, adding nipples to a crime fighting suit is pretty logical,” Goellner said, tongue firmly in cheek. “The problem fans had with this outfit stemmed purely from the fact that, in the comics, Bruce Wayne has trained his nipples to go into sleep mode while fighting crime, diverting calories to other parts of his body as needed. This continuity error, however minor, really distracted from Joel Schumacher’s otherwise completely authentic filmmaking choices.” Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern The debate about CGI is ongoing: How much is too much? How much is too little? Shouldn’t we expect all superhero-themed movies to be computer-generated spectacles? When the first photo of Ryan Reynolds as a green-suited Hal Jordan appeared, there were accusations of ruin and overuse of Photoshop. Said Goellner: “Green Lantern’s organic look had some feeling like he was more of a Slim Goodbody stand-in than a proper space cop. Others, who accepted the rationality of the costume as a manifestation of alien technology, were still bummed by its lack of depth and overall painted-on look. Everyone else was too busy hoping for a cosmic ‘Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place’ reunion to notice.” X-Men Suit Up in Black Leather For those who grew up with their crime-fighting mutants sporting the classic blue-and-yellow suits as seen on the pages of the Marvel comic, as well as the animated cartoon, the all-black ensembles worn by the cast in Bryan Singer’s 2000 hit ruffled many a fanboy’s feathers back in the day — so much so that Singer added an homage to the fans via Cyclops’ cheeky line: “What would you prefer, yellow spandex?” “Given the X-Men’s history of trying out new uniforms in the comics, fans weren’t supremely bothered by X-Men’s low-key combat suits,” Goellner said. “Then again, the state of the superhero film was so abysmal in 2000 that fans were open to anything that was more ‘Blade’ than ‘Batman & Robin.’ It also probably would’ve been a bad idea to put Hugh Jackman in a mask, when everyone knows the real star of the ‘X’ franchise has been his dreamy peepers.” Bonus: Barbara Eden’s Jeannie Back in 1965, nothing caused more controversy on network television than Barbara Eden’s scandalous costume on “I Dream of Jeannie” — so scandalous that network execs made the costume designers add extra inches to the waistline so Eden’s belly button wouldn’t be exposed. Goellner’s final word: “Her costume is a delight, but everybody knows that real genies are blue, have goatees and kind of talk like that guy who starred in ‘Hook.’ ” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Dark Knight Rises.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com .
