Report: Steven Tyler Signs Contract to Become Next American Idol Judge

While the contract demands of potential American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez may have been astronomical , it appears Steven Tyler holds no such delusions of grandeur. According to E! , Tyler has signed his Idol contract to join the judging dais next season. For their part, Fox execs have issued a standard “no comment,” meaning there’s still time for them to find room for Courtney Love . Start a Facebook campaign, people! [ E! ]

Ben Mendelsohn on Animal Kingdom, Crafting a Monster, and the Upside of Tension

There are bad guys, and there are bad . Guys. Veteran Australian actor Ben Mendelsohn plays the latter in Animal Kingdom , the Sundance-winning, Melbourne-set crime drama currently wowing moviegoers in limited release. Much of that reaction has focused on the quality of the film’s evil double-headed, awards-worthy hydra, with the terrific Jacki Weaver smiling and snarling on one side and Mendelsohn — as bipolar (or monopolar, really) robber ganglord Arthur “Pope” Cody — on the other. As Mendelsohn candidly and readily admits, it was not a beast you wanted to mess before or during the grueling Kingdom shoot.

Seth Rogen’s Untitled Cancer Flick No Longer Untitled

Monotone Canadian funnyman Seth Rogen’s cancer-based comedy is sporting a new name . Previously known as I’m With Cancer and then simply reported as Untitled Cancer Comedy, it’s now been dubbed Live With It. Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as a 25 year-old who contracts a rare form of terminal cancer and Rogen stars as, I’m guessing, his braying boobish friend. They’re joined by a bevy of talented co-stars, including Anjelica Huston, Bryce Dallas Howard, Anna Kendrick and Philip Baker Hall. [ /Film ]

When Marc Webb was announced as the director shepherding the Spider-Man reboot, many fans hoped he would cast his 500 Days of Summer star Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the role of Peter Parker. Alas, the 29-year-old is a little too old for Sony’s high school hero, but according to our sister site Hollywood Life , Gordon-Levitt may get his chance to play a highly anticipated comic book character after all.
