Joy Behar Blackface Photo Emerges, View Host Comes Under Major Fire

It’s official: Joy Behar will not be the next Governor of Virginia. She may not be a host of The View for much longer, either. On Thursday morning, Behar and her co-panelists talked openly about a photo that has surfaced on social media, even including footage of the photo itself on air. It depicts Behar at a Halloween party in 2016, her face darkened in a controversial manner known as “Blackface.” This name was coined back in the 19th century after white performers used theatrical make-up to represent caricature of black people. Ever since, it’s been considered very insensitive and offensive for a non-black person to dress up or pretend to be a black person because it dredges up memories of slavery and civil rights violations. And yet… celebrities continue to get in trouble for the act .  “I went as a beautiful African woman,” Behar said as an explanation for this look, which we’ve included below: “I had makeup that was a little bit darker than my skin – that’s my actual hair, though,” she added. Raven-Symoné seemed concerned upon seeing the picture, putting her co-host on the spot by asking: “Joy, are you black? Are you my auntie, Joy? Do you have tanning lotion on?” But while Behar seemed to brush off the incident as no big deal, essentially brushing it off as a normal Halloween costume, viewers and Twitter users are taking the comedian to task. Big time. “Megyn Kelly was fired from her show for asking a hypothetical question about blackface. Joy Behar actually wore blackface, and admitted it, and showed a picture of it on TV, yet she still has her job,” wrote one astute individual. This is a reference to how Kelly got canned by NBC after she questioned why blackface was a big deal . “Just a reminder that Megyn Kelly was fired for saying that blackface was acceptable when she was a kid (and not actually *participating* in blackface like all of these people.)” another person noted. Said Kelly during one of her final Today Show segments: ”What is racist? Because you do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface on Halloween, or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween. “Back when I was a kid that was OK, as long as you were dressing like a character.” Kelly eventually made a public mea cupla – but then-colleague Al Roker said “she owes a bigger apology to folks of color around the country,” adding: “This is a history going back to the 1830s — minstrel shows, to demean and denigrate a race wasn’t right. “I’m old enough to have lived through Amos ’n’ Andy, where you had white people in blackface playing two black characters and just magnifying the worst stereotypes about black people. “And that’s what the big problem is.” DO YOU THINK JOY BEHAR SHOULD BE FIRED FOR HER OUTFIT?

Joy Behar is leaving The View after 16 years on the ABC daytime gab-fest. As of now, Joy Behar is the last original View cast members other than co-creator/executive producer Barbara Walters who is still on the panel. “It seemed like the right time,” Behar told Deadline . “You reach a point when you say, ‘Do I want to keep doing this?’ There are other things I want to do. I’ve been writing a play, I’ve been neglecting my standup.” “I do like talk shows, I’m interested in talking to people,” she said, hinting at her own. “I want to do an intelligent talk show where you have room to breath.” Joy is rumored to be getting her own show on CNN. In the meantime, Behar will focus on closing this chapter of her career by spending a few more months with Walters and her other co-hosts on The View . “I have a lot of friends there, and I will miss everyone I’ve worked with; we have a family there,” Behar said. “Barbara was one of the main reasons I took that job.” Will you miss Joy Behar on The View?   Yes. Snooki & JWoww Spoof The View, Bash Joy Behar

Tiring of Joy Behar’s constant insults on The View, Jersey Shore stars Snooki ( Nicole Polizzi ) and JWoww (Jenni Farley) decided to fight back their way. By spoofing the talk show and its host in this awesome video, during which they use horrible Jewish accents and call Joy a bitter “Italian wannabe.” Joy, they say, just hates Jersey Shore because kids like that ruined her childhood … during the Great Depression. Ohhh. Sadly, this is as good as SNL: Jersey Shore’s View on Joy Behar The irony? Joy Behar is actually not Jewish, but an agnostic who was raised Catholic. Behar is also Italian-American. Snooki and JWoww are not. Idiots.

Behar Claims Tea Partiers ‘Don’t Believe in Any Govt At All, Zero,’ Taxes Not Increasing in January

On the September 15 The View on ABC, co-host Joy Behar insisted that co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck was wrong to assert that taxes are set to increase in January as the two sparred over the issue. Behar: “It’s not an increase, Elisabeth. It is not an increase.” She soon added, “They are not, stop saying it’s an increase because it’s not.” After Hasselbeck shot back, “Okay, we’ll talk in January,” Behar continued, “The Democrats want to eliminate the tax cuts for the rich. That’s all. Stop doing that.” Behar also exaggerated the anti-big government views of the Tea Party movement, claiming that members “don’t believe in any government at all, zero,” and mocked activists for supposedly not realizing that Medicare and Social Security are run by the federal government. Behar: “They just don’t believe in any government at all, zero. At the same time, it’s fascinating about them, at the same time that they don’t believe in any government, a lot of them are like, ‘Don’t touch my Medicare.’ Well, what do you think that is? That’s the schism within the Tea Party. Don’t touch my Social Security. Get the government out of my house, you know, come on.” Below is a transcript of the relevant portion of the Wednesday, September 15, The View on ABC: ELISABETH HASSELBECK: The Tea Party is more like a generator behind certain candidates. So they’ll get behind certain candidates and raise money for them, whereas they maybe wouldn’t get it someplace else. They’re more like a renegade group that’s kind of pushing candidates forward. They have power, obviously. We just saw this happen. I mean, but to say that she won’t win, don’t discount. We saw what happened with Scott Brown in Massachusetts. SHERRI SHEPHERD: Are they like a rebel branch from the Republican, the Tea Parties? BEHAR: Kind of. HASSELBECK: They don’t take on social issues, which is interesting. They’re purely fiscal. BEHAR: They just don’t believe in any government at all, zero. At the same time, it’s fascinating about them, at the same time that they don’t believe in any government, a lot of them are like, “Don’t touch my Medicare.” Well, what do you think that is? That’s the schism within the Tea Party. Don’t touch my Social Security. Get the government out of my house, you know, come on. HASSELBECK: It’s a different issue because what’s going to happen now with the tax increase is it is actually going to affect senior citizens more than anybody else right now. BEHAR: It’s not an increase, Elisabeth. It is not an increase. HASSELBECK: Let me tell you something, it is going to be an increase, and they are changing the terms- BEHAR: They are not, stop saying it’s an increase because it’s not. HASSELBECK: Okay, we’ll talk in January. BEHAR: The Democrats want to eliminate the tax cuts for the rich. That’s all. Stop doing that. HASSELBECK: They’re changing the lingo, so guess what? All seniors citizens are going to end up paying the price on this tax, and it’s a crime in this country. BEHAR: If you don’t make over $250,000, you’re not going to have tax raising. HASSELBECK: It’s actually going to come from the stocks they hold in dividends, so when you look at it, you’re going to see what’s going to happen. They’re changing all terminology. BEHAR: It’s a very small percentage of people. HASSELBECK: It’s not, because they own the most in dividends of anyone else in this country.

HLN’s Joy Behar Reiterates O’Donnell Bashing, Advises Nominee to See a Psychotherapist

Comedian Joy Behar repeated her ‘View’ tirade against Christine O’Donnell on her eponymous HLN network program yesterday, denouncing the Delaware Republican Senate nominee as “crazy” and suggesting she should see a psychotherapist. “You know, I’m not a shrink, but this is the crazy train this girl is on,” chortled Behar, who also belittled O’Donnell on ABC’s “The View” yesterday. After maligning O’Donnell’s character, Behar suggested the social conservative could benefit from therapy: “I believe in psychotherapy. Maybe she should go to a shrink.” Behar’s guest, psychotherapist Robi Ludwig, did not take the bait: “I don’t know that much about her. But we also need to allow people to change as they grow. Express themselves when they’re young, make mistakes and change their point of view. Do we really think that she’s into witchcraft? I don’t really buy it.” Lisa Bloom, Behar’s other guest, was equally unwilling to contribute to the personal attacks: “If you haven’t done something a little wacky in your youth, then I think there’s something wrong with you.” The same comedian who believes liberals are more open-minded than conservatives dismissed outsiders like O’Donnell who are defeating the political establishment in primaries across the country: “Nobody normal seems to be running these days. There’s crazies around.” A transcript of the relevant portion of the segment can be found below: HLN Joy Behar September 20, 2010 9:08 P.M. E.S.T. JOY BEHAR: You know, I’m not a shrink, but this is the crazy train this girl is on. ROBI LUDWIG, psychotherapist and Care.com contributor: Yes. BEHAR: Robi, I mean — LUDWIG: Did she do that after denouncing masturbation? I don’t know. BEHAR: Yes. But you know, we’re laughing at this, but this woman could be a — GLENDA HATCHETT, judge: A senator. BEHAR: A senator from Delaware, Joe Biden’s state. Ok. (CROSSTALK) BEHAR: I mean it’s scary in a certain weird way. LUDWIG: It is a little scary, but also she did this when she was young. And I think we need to allow — I’m not saying her judgment is good — I don’t know her. I don’t know that much about her. But we also need to allow people to change as they grow. Express themselves when they’re young, make mistakes and change their point of view. Do we really think that she’s into witchcraft? I don’t really buy it. BEHAR: No, it’s a silly thing. It’s silly season for this girl. Lisa, is this worse than the anti-masturbation video she put out? Because that could hurt her politically too. LISA BLOOM, attorney: You know this is the first interesting thing I’ve heard about her. If you haven’t done something a little wacky in your youth, then I think there’s something wrong with you. She dabbled in satanic rituals and witchcraft. Ok.. Now she seems more like a human being to me. It’s the masturbation stuff I just can’t grasp at all. BEHAR: Really? What were you up to in high school, Lisa? What were you dabbling in? BLOOM: My mother would kill me if I told you on national TV. BEHAR: What about you girls? Do you have any dabbles? HATCHETT: Listen, I was a juvenile court judge. I’ll never fess up. LUDWIG: You’re smart. Twitter or Facebook didn`t exist when I was a girl. That’s all I’m saying. HATCHETT: The guys I used to date – oh, my mercy. BEHAR: But you know what, Robi? Nobody normal seems to be running these days. There’s crazies around. LUDWIG: Well, who is not crazy? BEHAR: I don`t want them representing me. HATCHETT: Right. BEHAR: I believe in psychotherapy. Maybe she should go to a shrink. LUDWIG: Maybe and I’m available, but I think also we know a lot more about people than now than we did in the past. And maybe we’re just finding out – BEHAR: I mean here’s a girl. She’s been abstinent. She’s 41 years old, according to her, abstinence make the heart grow fonder. And she doesn’t masturbate. And yet she’s going to make public policy about sexual behavior in the country. LUDWIG: Well, she denounced it. Whether she hasn’t done it is another story. BEHAR: We don’t know. LUDWIG: That’s very interesting. BEHAR: She should come on my show and talk to me about. HATCHETT: She should. BEHAR: Ok, thanks very much.

TV Networks Smear Christine O’Donnell; Bozell Demands Media Tell the Truth! About Tea Party Victories

Dubbed as “ultra right wing extremist” and “crazy,” Republican candidate Christine O’Donnell and her Tea Party supporters have been smeared by every major broadcast and cable network since she won the Delaware primary against GOP establishment candidate on Tuesday night. NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center President Brent Bozell reacts : This is mudsliging at its ugliest. Pure character assassination. These networks have never treated a viable Democratic candidate with this level of contempt.  How dare they lecture anyone on manners or decency ever again. The MRC demands the media Tell The Truth! about the Tea Party, its momentum and the revolution of people whose votes are proving America is fed up with Washington. Here are just some of the latest smears by the liberal media: NBC’s KELLY O’DONNELL (Sept. 15 “Today”): “Democratic officials are gleeful and called her an ultra right wing extremist.” ABC’s GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS (Sept. 15 “Good Morning America”) to Republican Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell: “We saw that the Republican Party chairman in Jon Karl’s piece there, he went on to say, that you’re ‘not a viable candidate.’ That you ‘cannot be elected dog catcher in Delaware.’ He went on to say that you’re either a liar or mentally unhinged.” MSNBC’s MIKE BARNICLE (Sept. 16 “Morning Joe”): “The larger problem she has, I would submit, is this: that ‘different’ this year, for a candidate, is good. People are looking for ‘different’ this year. ‘Crazy’ is not good. CNN’s JOY BEHAR (Sept. 15 “Joy Behar Show”): “She needs to watch some porn and get some tips, is what she needs.” CBS’s NANCY CORDES (Sept. 15 “Early Show”): “The chair of her own state party called O’Donnell, ‘a liar who could not be elected dog catcher,’ and yet, the tea party conservative easily defeated the well-known Mike Castle, 53 to 47%. O’Donnell, a former marketing consultant with a checkered financial record, was a dark horse until two weeks ago…” Be sure to click here to learn how you can do your part to Demand the Liberal Media Tell the Truth!
