Steven Tyler American Idol apology

As the sober, printed message from the network first scrolled across the screen, inquiring minds wondered, what would Fox be apologizing for? – Steven Tyler spending the previous two weeks drooling over girls young enough to be his grand-daughter? – The total lack of judgement from the judges? – The relentlessness of the tear-jerking backstories from contestants? Wednesday night#39;s “American Idol” began with a gesture that seemed to good to be true – an apology. Earlier in the evening,

Thia Megia: Chasing Pavement, American Idol Crown

She has the name of a movie star, as noted by Jennifer Lopez. But does Thia Megia have the voice of an American Idol champion? Only 15, the contestant displayed impressive confidence and comfort in front of the judges last night, delivering one of the best performances of the evening on Adele’s “Chasing Pavements.” Megia will have plenty of competition from fellow Milwaukee hopefuls alone – we loved Molly DeWolf Swensen and Scott Dangerfield – but she’s been approved for Hollywood. We’ll see her there in a couple weeks. For now, here’s your chance to check out Thia’s vocals once again: Thia Megia Audition

Scott Dangerfield’s ‘American Idol’ Audition Wows Jennifer Lopez

‘You might be my favorite so far,’ J.Lo tells the unassuming student teacher in Milwaukee. By Adam Graham Scott Dangerfield auditions on Wednesday’s “American Idol” Photo: FOX Sometimes talent catches you off guard, and Scott Dangerfield came into his Milwaukee audition on Wednesday’s (January 26) “American Idol” episode without a hard-luck tale or a weepy backstory. But he left elevated on a cloud of praise and was dubbed by Jennifer Lopez as her “favorite” contestant thus far. The first thing the judges noticed about Dangerfield, an unassuming 22-year-old student teacher in Milwaukee, was his lips, and how he appeared to be wearing lipstick. Blushing, he wiped off his lips. “I was kissing one of the girls backstage!” Dangerfield said, prompting Jackson to make a crack about a potential love connection. “More than one destiny is going to be made for me today,” Dangerfield joked. With his shaggy haircut, black framed glasses and bookish outfit — he wore a button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a casual pair of shorts — Dangerfield gave off a slight Clay Aiken vibe, albeit cooler than the season-two contestant. And when he sang, it was similarly surprising: He did Amos Lee’s 2005 song “Dreamin’ ” and infused it with his rich, soulful tone, made smoother by his easygoing style. There were no nerves on display as he sang, and Dangerfield sailed through the audition. The judges were floored. “You might be my favorite so far,” Lopez beamed. “I swear! Wow!” She pushed for a quick vote, giddily bouncing in her chair and repeating “I want to vote!” like a toddler trying to get her way. Yes, Dangerfield managed to turn J.Lo into a pile of mush. Following Lopez’s yes vote, Randy Jackson offered one of his trademark over-the-top endorsements — “hundred million percent yes” is just the same as “100 percent yes,” Randy — and Steven Tyler chimed in by saying, “We’ve been waiting all day for you.” But Lopez still wasn’t finished gushing: “Keep the hair, keep the glasses, I like all of it,” she said, reiterating, “You’re my favorite.” In the hallway outside the judges’ room, Dangerfield was greeted by a group of friends, to whom he bragged about Lopez’s praise, saying it almost caused him to faint. But he had earned his right to gloat: Unlike his namesake Rodney, this Dangerfield got plenty of respect. What did you think of “American Idol” on Wednesday? Let us know in the comments! Adam Lambert Predicts Jennifer Lopez And Steven Tyler’s ‘Idol’ Style

‘American Idol’ alum says the superstars will bring amazing fashion to the new season. By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Damian Vaca Adam Lambert Photo: MTV News As the newly shaken-up “American Idol” debuts on Wednesday (January 19), fans are ready to weigh in on how spankin’-new judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler will fare — and how they’ll look. MTV News recently caught up with “Idol” alum Adam Lambert at the season-three premiere of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” in Los Angeles, and he mused that when it comes to fashion, both Lopez and Tyler will bring their A-list style game. “I’m sure they’re gonna be top-of-the-notch. Steven Tyler, I mean, he’s a legend. And J.Lo has always been beautiful. I remember when I was a kid graduating high school and ‘Waiting for Tonight’ came out. Remember that video? And she had all the rhinestones on her face and she just looked like just dewy and stunning and amazing,” Lambert said. “I’m really looking forward to [seeing their fashion] too.” While MTV News’ “Idol” expert Jim Cantiello is set to host the live stream “Judging the Judges: An ‘Idol’ Without Simon” right after “Idol” airs, at 10 p.m. ET Wednesday on MTV.com, Lambert shied away from comparing the two music pros’ judging style. He maintained that the duo aren’t likely to duke it out for top-judge honors. The season-eight runner-up said Lopez and Tyler are approaching the competition from different vantage points, and pitting their judging styles against each other is probably a futile “Idol” fan exercise. “They’re birds of a different feather, but they’re gonna flock together,” he said. Even though Lambert has more “Idol” experience than the newbie judges, he didn’t have any advice to offer Lopez or Tyler as they take their seats on live television for the first time. In fact, he insisted he’d welcome pointers from the superstar critics anytime. “I want advice from them, ” Lambert smiled. “I will not give Steven Tyler or J. Lo any advice. That’s not my place.” Are you looking forward to the “American Idol” premiere? Let us know in the comments! Robert Pattinson Says ‘Water For Elephants’ Felt Like ‘Big Movie’

‘It felt totally different from doing something within the ‘Twilight’ world,’ he tells MTV News of stretching beyond vampire role. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson in “Water for Elephants” Photo: Fame Pictures For all of the Robert Pattinson fans counting down the days until your favorite actor hits the big screen again, know that there’s now just about three months (94 days, to be exact) until the “Twilight” hunk’s next movie, “Water for Elephants,” opens. When MTV News caught up with Pattinson at Sunday’s Golden Globes (he co-presented the award for Best Foreign Film), we asked whether he thought “Elephants” was a big stepping stone for him, acting-wise. “I think so,” he said. “It definitely felt like I was doing a big movie when I was doing it and it felt totally different from doing something within the ‘Twilight’ world because now it just seems so familiar, the ‘Twilight’ stuff. It’s just like going to a normal job, doing that,” he explained of playing vampire Edward Cullen in the franchise. Pattinson’s “Elephants” co-star Reese Witherspoon told MTV News recently that she couldn’t help but agree with millions of fans about one thing: “He is extraordinarily attractive,” she told us. “I’m not gonna lie.” Witherspoon shares a kiss with Rpattz in the upcoming film and a new photo of the two in a lip-lock may make more than a few “Twilight” fans jealous. But Witherspoon was quick to add that Pattinson is attractive both inside — and out. “Robert is such a great guy from a great family,” she told us last month. “That’s the thing that’s so funny. He’s not really this bad boy; he’s just a great guy and really worked hard on ‘Water for Elephants.’ He really worked long hours, long days. He looks totally different in the movie.” Are you looking forward to how Reese compares to KStew as an onscreen leading lady to RPattz? Tell us in the comments!
