Diplomats Set To Kick Off New Season of ‘RapFix Live’!

Reunited Harlem collective will take fans’ questions during Thursday’s live stream at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com. By MTV News staff The Diplomats Photo: Donjai Harlem, stand up! The Diplomats are reunited and the Uptown collective — Cam’ron, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana and Freekey Zekey — are set to bring their revived outfit to 1515 where they’ll be our guests on “RapFix Live.” Dipset will kick off the second season of MTV News’ hip-hop live stream show on Thursday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com. After an internal spat caused disruption among the charismatic crew, they slowly began repairing the damaged relationships. In February 2009, Cam’ron told MTV News that he and Jones had spoken for the first time in years. From that point on, the two childhood friends inched closer to a reconciliation that eventually resulted in their comeback concert this past November. “It’s a good feeling,” Jones explained to MTV News about the crew’s new mindset. “Everybody just comes to the table with their best. It’s brotherly competition so it only makes it better. Above all, we came back together for the brotherhood. We grew up together, so there was a love that was lost there. We regained that and it’s time for music.” The Dipset members will sit down with Sway to discuss the status of their comeback, from their forthcoming mixtape to their rumored deal with Interscope Records. “Shout-outs to Dre, that was the most incredible experience in my career,” Jones said shortly after a flick of Dipset working with the West Coast producer appeared online. “Dr. Dre came to our studio, which was even more incredible. That was dope. We got to do a few songs with him. He coached me a bit.” Fans can ask them anything they wish, by tweeting to @MTVRapFix with the hashtag #rapfixlive. Diplomats Announce Reunion Show, Talk Kanye West Dis

‘I ain’t got no problem with Kanye,’ Cam’ron says regarding ‘Runaway’ freestyle’s apparent jab. By Shaheem Reid Diplomats Photo: Donjai Jim Jones said the Diplomats are getting their “Kumbaya” on right now. The Harlem team is at peace, the camaraderie is heavy and Friday (September 24), on New York’s Hot 97 , they announced their Dipset reunion show. Jones, Cam’ron, Freekey Zekey and Juelz Santana told radio personality Angie Martinez that they will have their first performance in years November 27 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. “The table is bigger,” Juelz said. “It’s pretty much the same, in a sense. We all have the same respect for each other. Cam is still the Boss. Jim is still the Capo.” “But we all make one conscious decision,” Jones jumped in. “Everything you’ve seen thus far, it was all a conscious decision of everybody calling each other: ‘You sure you wanna do this? You OK with this? OK, we good.’ ” “You gotta look at people different,” Cam added about reuniting after having tasted success as individuals over the past few years. “I don’t want my mother talking to me today like she was talking to me when I was 8. I’m not 8 years old anymore. At the end of the day, you supposed to learn. You supposed to grow, and you know your stuff. We come from under the Dame Dash umbrella.” Recently, Cam threw a shot at another guy who was groomed in part by Dash, Kanye West. On a freestyle over ‘Ye’s “Runaway” beat, Cam rapped, “And Kanye, you a sucka n—a./ Dissed Dame, so my attitude is f— the n—a/ Stuck to Jigga, how you gon’ live with that?/ Took the beat, now come get it back.” “I ain’t got nothing to say,” Cam answered about why he jabbed at West. “Only thing I got to say is, a lot of people say I dissed Jay on that song. I didn’t dis Jay on that song. For real, I’m from Harlem. I respect people getting money. Jay is getting mad cake. I respect his hustle, his grind. … Everybody throw subliminals. They say subliminals and don’t wanna say who they throwing the shots at.” When asked what provoked the line on the freestyle, Jones said: “Blouses. Shouts to Kanye. It’s fun. It’s hip-hop. Cam is probably one of the best rappers in the past 10 years.” “I ain’t got no problem with Kanye, man,” added Cam, who said he was telling the truth about ‘Ye in his rhymes. “He didn’t really dis him on the record,” Jones jumped back in. “He just pointed something out.” Are you happy the Dipset are back together? Kanye West Dis By Cam’ron, Jim Jones Doesn’t Surprise Juelz Santana

Diplomats’ third member says he knew nothing of ‘Toast’ track before it was posted online. By Jayson Rodriguez Cam’ron Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage It would be a stretch to say that everyone is suddenly on Kanye West’s side following his 2010 MTV Video Music Awards performance . Former Roc-a-Fella labelmates Cam’ron and Jim Jones responded to West’s new track “Runaway” with a recording that takes shots at the Chicago superstar and Jay-Z. “And Kanye, you a sucka n—a, dissed Dame so my attitude is f— the n—a,” Cam spits on “Toast,” which was posted on Missinfo.tv on Wednesday. “F— with Jigga, how you gonna live with that/ Took the beat, now come get it back.” “You might take it the wrong way, that’s what people do,” Jones said. They gonna think we starting trouble, but we just viewing our opinions.” On Thursday, the other member of the recently reunited Diplomats , Juelz Santana, called in to Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex and said he knew nothing about the track before it arrived. “To be honest, I just heard the record like a fan, like everybody else,” Juelz told Flex. “I didn’t even know they did the record. Me and Cam and Jim, we been speaking, but they must have did that when they were just together in the studio. That’s what they do. I heard the record, I was on the Internet and thought, Wow. It shouldn’t surprise people. Especially [with] Cam, he’s always said how he felt about Jay-Z or Kanye. He’s never been a person that’s bitten his tongue.” In the past, Cam’ron and Jay-Z have traded barbs on wax. Cam appeared on J.R. Writer’s “Bird Call,” which featured former Roc-a-Fella co-CEO Dame Dash in the video. The pair have had differences since the Roc days when Dash attempted to appoint the Harlem MC into a VP position with the label, something that the Brooklyn lyricist disagreed with. (Dash also wanted to promote Beanie Sigel to VP, the idea being that both rappers, Beanie and Cam’ron, would oversee releases from their respective crews, State Property and Dipset.) Cam’ron has also taken umbrage at Kanye’s choosing Jay-Z over Dame Dash in the Roc split, since brash businessman Dash is the one who first took an interest in West as an artist. MTV News’ requests for comments by the parties involved were not returned as of press time. What do you think of Cam’ron and Jim Jones’ Kanye dis track? Sound off in the comments. DJ Khaled Tells How He Ignited Hot 97’s Summer Jam

‘I wanted to come with 20 minutes of straight excitement,’ superstar DJ says of guests Cam’ron, Rick Ross, Fat Joe and more. By Shaheem Reid DJ Khaled, Fat Joe and T-Pain Photo: Walik Goshorn The man behind “All I Do Is Win” left the new Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, with a “W” in his back pocket on Sunday. DJ Khaled’s set was the highlight of Hot 97’s Summer Jam concert , as he orchestrated one of the greatest onstage artist lineups in the history of the now-legendary annual event. “We brought out Cam, Busta, Joe Crack [a.k.a Fat Joe], Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, Vado, Ludacris, myself,” Khaled said. “And I brought Barrington Levy out. We made a movie. I wanted to come out there with 20 minutes of straight excitement from beginning to the end. I just wanted to go bah, bah, bah!” the DJ said of wanting to bring the element of surprise to the Meadowlands crowd. “Every artist on the bill is superstars. I was thinking to myself, ‘What am I gonna do?’ Because [so many of] the artists are already on the bill. I had to pull out cards like the Barrington card, the Busta card, the Killa [Cam] card. That’s hip-hop man.” Khaled let each of his guests rock the stage for a short while. But no one got a bigger response than Harlem’s own Cam’ron, who made his return to SJ for the first time in more than three years. Killa came out to his classic “I Really Mean It.” Khaled’s set ended with a nod to his current hit, the remix of “All I Do Is Win.” More than 50,000 people did as it says on the chorus: They put their hands up — and kept ’em there. ” ‘All I Do is Win,’ to see the whole stadium put their hands in the sky,” Khaled marveled on his set highlights. “And of course when Cam’ron came out, you felt that New York energy. That was important to be in New York. Then when Crack came out with that ‘Ha Ha’ and of course Ricky Ross broke the new record onstage … ‘Super High’ and ‘[Blowin’ Money Fast] B.M.F.’ This is just a movie man. It’s hip-hop. This is what I’m talking about.” Trey Songz, Usher, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Fabolous, Gucci Mane and Juelz Santana were also among those who performed at this year’s Summer Jam. Trey Songz, Drake Heat Up Summer Jam, But DJ Khaled Steals The Show

Usher, Juelz Santana, Gucci Mane, Reflection Eternal and Fabolous also deliver at Hot 97’s annual fest. By Shaheem Reid Trey Songz performs during Hot 97 Summer Jam on June 6 Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage One of the most anticipated moments of Hot 97’s Summer Jam concert on Sunday night was one that was unadvertised, though all the fans felt it was a foregone conclusion: the reunion of the New York rap giants the Diplomats. Juelz Santana was on the bill with his first solo set, but instead of bringing out the members of his unit, he brought out the youngest member of the G-Unit, Lloyd Banks . They made for one of the strongest moments of the night with their smash “Beamer, Benz or Bentley.” But what happened to the Dip’s reunion? One source close to their camp said Jim Jones had some issues with security and police and was not granted entrance in the new Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Freekey Zekey and Cam’ron came out later in the night as part of DJ Khaled ‘s show-stealing set. Hot 97 advertised that Khaled would be bringing out “friends,” and no one knew what to expect. Well, if you follow the Miami multi-tasking, up-and-coming mogul, you would have to suspect that he’d bring out Rick Ross . The two down-bottom mayors are thicker than Starsky and Hutch. Plus, Ross and Khaled did interviews together on Hot 97 earlier in the day. Khaled’s set started with his “All I Do Is Win” remix. Rolling deeper than two football teams, Khaled paraded out T-Pain (who sang the hook) and Busta Rhymes , who unleashed one of the most stylistically bulletproof verses of the year. Ross and Ludacris took the spotlight over on the “I’m So Hood” remix, and Busta regained the reins on his fresh new bopper “Stop the Party.” Rick Ross saluted the playas with “Super High” then continued with the “Angels” remix and his new club stomper “Blowin’ Money Fast (B.M.F.).”

Tyga Says Lil Wayne’s Sentencing Delay Is ‘A Blessing’

‘He could spend more time with his family, get what he needs to get done,’ Young Money MC says. By Shaheem Reid, with reporting by Matt Elias Tyga Photo: MTV News On Tuesday (February 9) in New York City, a judge delayed Lil Wayne’s prison sentencing until March, allowing the MC time to recover from dental surgery. Wayne’s camp is obviously pleased they have been afforded a little more time to spend with their friend and mentor before he has to report to jail for a year. “That’s still a blessing, man,” Tyga said. “He could spend more time with his family, get what he needs to get done. “We talk about it all the time,” Tyga said of Wayne’s upcoming time in prison. “It’s not really a subject that’s gonna hurt us [Young Money artists] as much. We’re used to being around Wayne all day, everyday, and his work ethic, so we just look at it like we need to work harder. Even though we work very hard, we need to work harder. This man shot six videos in one day in, like, five hours. That was motivation — that was a lot of inspiration right there to see somebody do that.” Tyga is referring to Weezy’s production spree over Super Bowl weekend, in which he shot a total of nine videos in about 36 hours in Miami. The Cash Money/ Young Money family want to make sure the hub of their crew has plenty of visuals to tide the fans over while he is gone. Weezy also got in front of the cameras for two of Tyga’s songs. “We just shot a video for my single featuring Wayne, called ‘I’m On It,’ ” Tyga explained. “That’ll be coming out real soon. We got cameos from Drake, Juelz Santana was there — we did that. We did another song of mine that’s on Birdman’s album as well as my album — that’s called ‘Leave Home.’ It’s me and Wayne, featuring Birdman. That one’s crazy too. Look for ‘I’m On It,’ that one’s coming real soon. Wayne did a lot of videos in one day. We did what we needed to get done.” Related Videos Lil Wayne Goes To Jail Related Artists Lil Wayne Tyga
