Julie Chen Bids Farewell To Her “The Talk” Co-Hosts [VIDEO]

Sonja Flemming/CBS via Getty Images Julie Chen Officially Steps Down From “The Talk” Today was a sad day for our friends at “The Talk” as longtime moderator Julie Chen appeared via video to say goodbye to her coworkers. Check out the clip and description below: “I have been at THE TALK since the day it started 9 years ago, and the cast, crew and staff have become family to me over the years. But right now, I need to spend more time at home with my husband and our young son, so I’ve decided to leave THE TALK. I want to thank everyone at the show for the wonderful years together. I will always, always cherish the memories we shared. Most important, I want to thank you, the viewers, for allowing me into your home every day. It was a privilege that I will forever be grateful for. To everyone behind the scenes, I send you my love. I will miss you all very, very much. To Eve: you’re the newest one at the table, but I feel like I’ve known you forever. You are even more beautiful inside than you are on the outside, if that’s even possible, because, you know I think you are flawless. Sheryl, thank you for being the perfect go-to partner for the last 7 years. I open, you close, and you always bring down the house. We called ourselves “The Book Ends,” remember? And we always laughed when we said it to each other. Your wit, and timing, and humor, and compassion, and intelligence is simply unparalleled. You are incredible. Carrie Ann [Inaba], I don’t know, but in my opinion, you look awful good sitting in that chair, my Asian sister. I’m just saying! And finally, to Sara and Sharon: we’ve been together since day one at THE TALK! I’ve spent every day with you both. I will always treasure our friendship, the great parenting advice from both of you, and the memories and laughs and all the private jokes that the three of us have shared. We are the original three musketeers. I love you all, and I know this show, and the sisterhood it stands for, will live on for many, many, many more years to come. You ladies got this, and I could not be more proud to call you my friends. I love you.” We wish Julie Chen the best and send love to our friends at “The Talk”

Interesting: Julie Chen Announces That She’s Leaving ‘The Talk’ To Clear Husband Les Moonves’ “Good Name”

Image via Photo by Drew Angerer/Getty Images Julie Chen To Leave ‘The Talk’ To Help Les Moonves Clear His Name Stand by your man is a mantra that Julie Chen clearly lives and dies by. According to CNN , Chen will announce today that she is leaving The Talk to focus on clearing the “good name” of her husband Les Moonves. The former CBS CEO has been ousted after allegations of sexual misconduct arose from at least 12 different women. pic.twitter.com/cW1vUhCIs0 — Julie Chen (@JulieChen) July 27, 2018 Moonves believes these allegations are part of some elaborate scheme to bring him down as they are “not consistent” with who he is. It was pretty obvious that Chen could not return to The Talk being that discussions of the #MeToo movement would be regular topics and Julie has been VERY outspoken against men who have been accused of exactly what her husband is accused of.

Interesting: Julie Chen Announces That She’s Leaving ‘The Talk’ To Clear Husband Les Moonves’ “Good Name”

Julie Chen Shows Support for Husband, Gets Destroyed on Twitter

Julie Chen is married to Les Moonves. And this is a rather awkward arrangement at the moment. That's because Chen is a CBS host, likely best known for emceeing Big Brother; and Moonves is the just-ousted CBS President, who was recently removed from his position due to accusations of sexual misconduct. Like we said: AWKWARD! Chen briefly touched on this scandal back when news about it spread, but she hasn't said very much about it since. Until the night of September 13, that is. To close out an episode of Big Brother, Chen signed off in a way that showed support for her husband. It was subtle, yet also obvious, and social media users have A LOT to say about it. See what we mean below… 1. What Did She Say? “From outside the ‘Big Brother’ house…I’m Julie Chen Moonves. Goodnight.” That’s how Chen closed out the latest episode of Big Brother, using her husband’s last name on air for the first time. 2. What Had She Said Previously About the Scandal? “I have known my husband, Leslie Moonves, since the late ’90s, and I have been married to him for almost 14 years,” read her one statement on the topic. “Leslie is a good man and a loving father, devoted husband and inspiring corporate leader. He has always been a kind, decent and moral human being. I fully support my husband and stand behind him and his statement.” 3. What About on The Talk? This is the only thing Chen told the audience upon her return to The Talk about the scandal hit: “Some of you may be aware of what’s going on in my life the past few days. I issued the one and only statement I will ever make on this topic on Twitter, and I will stand by that statement today, tomorrow, forever.” 4. What is Moonves Accused Of? Forcing himself on to a number of women, kissing them against their wishes, while harassing and verbally abusing them. Multiple women have issued these allegations, saying the incidents took place about 20 years ago. 5. Has Moonves Denied These Charges? Yes, but he’s also said the following: “Throughout my time at CBS, we have promoted a culture of respect and opportunity for all employees, and have consistently found success elevating women to top executive positions across our Company. I recognize that there were times decades ago when I may have made some women uncomfortable by making advances. Those were mistakes, and I regret them immensely.” 6. What Does Twitter Have to Say About Chen’s Support? A lot, as you might imagine. Scroll down to find out more… View Slideshow

Big Brother Recap: Two Evictions Rock the House!

Julie Chen returned to CBS Thursday night, and got ready to evict two houseguests, but what did she say about Les Moonves? Double eviction episodes of the reality series are generally the most dramatic, but the biggest source of drama came from the final few moments when the host paid a stunning tribute to her embattled husband, Les Moonves.  “I’m Julie Chen Moonves. Goodnight,” she said to audiences as the second evictee of the night sat next to her.  Julie does not typically say “Moonves” on the series, usually referring to herself simply as “Julie Chen,” so it was immediately evident it was a message of support for her husband, who was fired by the network earlier this week.  As for what went down in the world of Big Brother, let’s get to it.  Sam and Haleigh were still on the block to be evicted from the house. Everyone at home knew fine well that Haleigh was going out.  But how did the votes pan out? Tyler votes to evict: Haleigh JC votes to evict: Haleigh Brett votes to evict: Haleigh Angela votes to evict: Haleigh Haleigh was evicted!  We then moved on to the HOH competition. It was the booth-style one with the houseguests answering questions based on video clips shown to the house.  Round 1: Sam & Tyler get a point Round 2: JC gets a point Round 3: Tyler & Brett get a point Round 4: JC, Sam, Tyler, & Brett get a point Round 5: Sam, Tyler, Angela, & Brett get a point Round 6: Everyone gets a point Round 7: Sam, Tyler, & Angela get a point Tyler won the HOH competition and immediately got to work to pick who he was evicting. He held one-on-one meetings and told Brett to throw the POV because he was going to make a big move.  He moved on to nominate Sam and JC for eviction. Neither was impressed, but Tyler had a much bigger plan to play.  Angela won the power of veto, and she immediately met the others one by one. Tyler told her to use the veto on JC and that he would nominate Brett to be sent home.  It’s not often a plan comes together in Big Brother, but it Angela, Tyler, and Kaycee got their wish and Brett was put on the block in JC’s place.  JC votes to evict: Brett Kaycee votes to evict: Brett Angela votes to evict: Brett Brett was sent out of the door by a vote of 3-0! He was blindsided but admitted to Julie that he respected that it was a game move. Now he has to go to the jury house and explain to Haleigh why Angela and Kaycee’s exit speeches threw him under the bus.  With less than two weeks left, Julie dished that there will be evictions on Wednesday and Thursday next week.  What are your thoughts on all the latest? What made him snap? Man Shoots Wife Then Himself This sad situation went from bad to as worse as it gets in less than 24 hours. According to Mail Online An estranged husband fatally shot his wife in the back parking lot of a Texas school, then returned home to kill himself. Gregory Robinson, 54, attacked Valerie Robinson, 46, outside Tompkins High School in Katy, at 6:11 am on Friday morning. Mr. Robinson then drove away in a truck before barricading himself in his Brookshire house, leading to a tense standoff with authorities. Damage Control: TV Station Apologizes To Julie Chen For News Director Saying She Looked Too Asian

Better late than never. TV Station Apologizes To Julie Chen This was wrong on so many levels. Glad too see the station taking responsibility and apologizing. According to Mail Online An Ohio television station has issued an apology to CBS reality show host Julie Chen after she revealed that she had undergone surgery to look ‘less Asian’ in response to remarks from her then-news director. Chen, 43, best known as the presenter of the Big Brother show, made the admission on The Talk Wednesday, describing how as a young reporter, she was told by her supervisor at WDTN-TV in Dayton that she would never be an anchor because she looked too Chinese. The same sentiment was echoed some time later by a talent agent, who told Chen that her eyes were too small and inexpressive. Chen’s revelations sparked an outcry online, prompting the management of WDTN to release a statement apologizing to the TV personality for the comments made by a news director at the station nearly two decades earlier. ‘We are sorry to hear about what happened to CBS’ Julie Chen in 1995 when she was a reporter at WDTN-TV,’ Joe Abouzeid, the station’s president and general manager, stated. ‘The station was under different management and ownership during that time. At WDTN and WBDT, we don’t tolerate racism or discrimination of any kind.’ Do you believe their apology is sincere? Continue reading

Aaryn Gries: Evicted From Big Brother, GRILLED By Julie Chen on Racist Comments

Aaryn Gries was finally evicted from the Big Brother house Thursday night, and was promptly grilled by Julie Chen about her comments this summer. Her explanation, in abridged form? She’s not racist, she’s just Texan! Aaryn Gries Evicted on Big Brother Aaryn Gries , of course, mocked Asians, African-Americans AND homosexuals this season. Frequently, and often seeming to take pleasure in doing so. She had to know the reckoning was coming, but when she said “I did not mean to ever come off as racist,” well, the audience laughed in her face. And booed. A lot. The longer explanation: “In Texas, we say things. Sometimes we joke and we don’t mean it. I feel how bad it is being seen and how I’ve come across to people.” How bad it is being seen? Is she for real? “I don’t want to seem like that kind of person. That was not meant to be serious and if I said those things, I feel horrible for that. I regret that,” she added. Among her (many) choice lines: Telling an Asian cast member to “go make rice,” and later quipping, “I probably look like a squinty Asian right now.” Gries also said “no one’s going to vote for whoever that queer puts up” while addressing gay housemate Andy Herren, and made other racist comments. Still, Aaryn told host Chen that she doesn’t remember ever making a racist comment in the house, adding, “I apologize to anyone I offended for that.” Julie, at that point, read off a list of some of the offensive comments she made, leaving Aaryn frozen in her seat, and it was pretty awesome. Not awesome that such a person exists, of course. That part is still incredibly depressing and a bad sign for society. But awesome that Julie called her out. Gries, who will stay sequestered from the outside world in the jury house until the show ends next month, still has no idea her modeling agency fired her . Enjoy the rest of your unemployed life.
