Baltimore resident Farryn Johnson has filed a racial discrimination complaint with the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights after she was fired from her job as a waitress at Hooters. The 25-year old says she lost her job due to the color her hair. Waitress Alleges Hooters Firing Due to Highlights Johnson told a CBS News affiliate that management ordered her to remove her blonde highlights because they were giving off an “improper image.” She refused and was subsequently shown the door. “They specifically said, ‘Black women don’t have blonde in their hair, so you need to take it out,'” Johnson told CBS , adding: “I didn’t see that it would be a big issue just because there were a lot of other employees working at the restaurant of other races with color in their hair. For instance, there were Asian girls with red hair and Caucasian girls with black hair and blond streaks, so I didn’t think it would be an issue for the little piece of blond highlight in my hair.” Jessica Weber is representing Farryn and said in a statement: “The law is clear that employers can’t have two separate unequal sets of rules – one for African-Americans employees and one for everybody else, and yet that’s exactly what Hooters did here in firing Miss Johnson, an African-American employee solely because she’s African-American. “They targeted her because of her hair solely because of her race.” Due to the pending litigation, Hooters says it has not comment at this time on the allegation. In August 2012, Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas came under fire when some African-Americans called her hair out for not representing their race well .

Lamar Odom is just living, man. The troubled athlete made this mantra abundantly clear during an impromptu chat with a photographer in L.A. yesterday. Instead of brushing off the paparazzo who approached him, the 33-year-old mused for several minutes about his life, health, relationships and career. You don’t see this too often, especially with a guy like Lamar, who’s not only the subject of some insane stories lately, but is not exactly chatty by nature. The celebrity gossip reporter was actually prepared to leave 3-4 times, but Odom kept talking cordially. Over the course of almost four minutes, he discussed: His relationship with Khloe Kardashian … who he wouldn’t elaborate on, but made a gesture to by making point of showing of his wedding ring. His prospects of returning to the NBA. “You gotta take it day by day,” he said. “That’s all you can do. Does being alive beat the alternative?” (This was a big point. The photographer didn’t understand his simple point the first 4-5 times he said it, so Lamar patiently dropped some knowledge on him.) His obsession with eating well. “It’s the only way to become a champion,” Odom says of his diet, in this case a delicious turkey sandwich. Kim Kardashian turns 33 years old today. And while some fans may be celebrating by watching the Kim Kardashian sex tape 33 times, the star’s sister has found another way to honor her famous sibling. Khloe posted a photo montage of Kim to Instagram this morning and included with it a glowing caption that reads: “Happy birthday KiKi!!!!!! I love you beyond comprehension!!!! You truly are one of my best friends. To me you are an angel in disguise. Always there for me in any way!” That is very sweet, we must admit. Reports have indicated that Kim has been critical of Khloe’s marriage to Lamar Odom, even encouraging Khloe to file for divorce in order to save the family brand. But these relatives have never been anything but kind to each other in public and Khloe concluded her message with some especially nice words: “My wish is that I give you as much in life as you have given me! Happy birthday Keeks!!!!” Look for Kardashian to celebrate her 33rd birthday with a birthday bash in Las Vegas this week and also to hear a lot more from her in the near future.
