By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Katherine Heigl Photo: MTV News Earlier this year, Katherine Heigl’s departure from “Grey’s Anatomy” caused quite a stir. The rumor mill was rife with gossip regarding the actress’s diva-like demands on set, months before her departure (Heigl’s last appearance as Izzy was January 21). But now that Heigl has officially left the program to focus on being a mom to her adopted daughter, she has gone to great lengths to right any wrongs (i.e. the recent Entertainment Weekly cover story titled “I’m Sorry”). MTV News recently caught up with the actress (while chatting about her upcoming romantic comedy “Killers”) and discovered that the 31-year-old has nothing but warm feelings for her onetime castmates. And because Heigl had not yet seen the complicated medical drama’s season finale, our own Josh Horowitz attempted — via a “creative interpretation” courtesy of Wikipedia — to summarize the detailed plot and bring the actress up to speed so she could comment. Midway through Josh’s delivery of the details, Heigl interrupted when he mentioned that a main character was pregnant. “I’m sorry, wait,” Heigl said and held up a hand to stop the recap for a moment. “A pregnant who? Meredith is pregnant?” she said, totally surprised. “You’ve made me feel horrible [for not watching yet]. “I’m going to have to watch this now. I have to see [Alex] call for [Izzy] and her never come. … I really miss that relationship,” Heigl said of her former onscreen romance with Alex (played by Justin Chambers). “Justin Chambers is one of the most amazing men and certainly a spectacular actor. I feel oddly attached to him and the character and my character being together. Handsome to look at and driven by a passionate — if not exactly precise — political sensibility, Agora is this spring’s highest-brow sandal epic, by an Egyptian cubit. Considering its competition is the lumpy Clash of the Titans and this week’s video game-inspired Prince of Persia , it’s an endorsement earned by a pretty wide margin of default. Director Alejandro Amenábar has chosen the story of Hypatia, a fourth century Greek mathematician, as the subject of his seventh film, and sets it in a marvelous recreation of ancient Alexandria. A dust-and-geometry biopic with blaring modern resonances is a risky move even for Amenábar, who has been drawn to challenges of genre (as with the understated horror picture The Others ) and topical material (his lyrical meditation on the right to die, The Sea Inside, ) over the course of his still-young career. Unfortunately the one expectation that can be attached to the director — a gift for elegant, involving stories and consistent, inventive filmmaking — is obscured by Agora ‘s tendency toward the blandly overwrought.

It’s tempting to say Katherine Heigl is a polarizing figure, until you remember that for something to be polarizing it has to be equally loved and loathed. And when it comes to Heigl, people either tolerate her or want to send her into outer space on a one-way ticket. Last year, Ashton Kutcher beat CNN to a million followers on Twitter, proclaiming himself the King of All Social Media. Okay, the first part is true anyway? Since then, he’s enjoyed his perch as the undisputed leader in total fans on the micro-blogging site … until today, when Britney Spears surpassed him . Yup, Brit has opened up a 4,950,699-4,944,227 lead. Ashton’s response? He does not care. Fittingly, he Twittered his response to playing second fiddle: He wrote: “2nd most pop Q ‘What do U think about Brittney having more followers than u?’ Answer ‘I don’t care. Aren’t u suppose 2B a movie reporter?'” Ashton Twittered this during a press junket for his and Katherine Heigl’s new movie Killers . Seems like he’s taking it in stride … or is secretly bitter. As for Britney, she celebrated her reign by actually Twittering: “WOW!!!!! #1 on Twitter! Thank you! Tweet me some questions this morning! xoxo -Brit” This is surprising and yet not. Surprising because Britney’s Twitter is boring and rarely written by her. It’s usually her manager writing some BS story . It’s not surprising in the sense that Britney Spears is a bigger star than Ashton Kutcher, and one of the most famous people alive … for better or worse. Either way, if we were Britney, we wouldn’t get too comfortable. There are other threats to the crown who aren’t even on Twitter yet. One word: Bieber . P.S. Please follow THG on Twitter !
