Dina Lohan Rails Against Glee Again

If you watched last night’s Glee , you knew as soon as Katie Couric’s hilarious cameo was over that Dina Lohan would be whining by close of business Monday. Like clockwork, a “friend” of Dina’s (apparently, she has one) says she is ” hurt and shocked ” by the show’s latest jab – this time at Lindsay’s mom directly. Glee, which took shots at Lindsay earlier this season via Gwyneth Paltrow’s guest character, and its “constant teasing” have downright offended Dina now. If you don’t watch Glee, here’s the long and short of it: Katie (as herself) interviewed Jane Lynch’s Sue Sylvester after she had been named Loser of the Year. As Katie recounted all the losers Sue bested out for the title, Dina Lohan’s name was among them. She is pissed. Her ex, Michael Lohan, also begged to differ. In Michael’s case, though, he thinks Glee just didn’t go far enough. Michael told sources that Dina “deserves a lot worse of a title after all she has done to destroy the relationships with my kids and entire family.” How kind. He calls the people Dina surrounds herself with “the epitome of losers.” You’d think with Lindsay’s pending felony charge , they’d focus on … oh wait, no you wouldn’t. All these people do is whine about their pathetic lives instead of taking responsibility or establishing themselves as upstanding citizens through action. Way to go, losers! Watch the clip after the jump: We’re looking for a higher quality version of the clip, but turn the volume up to hear this tremendous comedic exchange from Sunday’s episode … Glee With Katie Couric

The Today Show Asks: What is the Internet?

This is both hilarious and incredible. The following clip is courtesy of a break during Today Show filming in 1994. In it, hosts Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel disagree on the meaning of the “at” symbol and ask producers a question: What the heck is the Internet?!? It’s astounding to think about, really. As recently as 16 years ago, major network anchors had no clue about the World Wide Web. Fast forward fewer than two decades and even Sarah Palin has this thing mastered. Amazing. What is the Internet?

NBCU, Bring Back Promos Like This One From 1993

Now that Comcast (or Kabletown) has officially taken over NBC from General Electric, they have a big problem on their hands in the form of returning NBC to its past glory. The Movieline solution: Fun NBC -themed promos! Seriously, where have these been? Specifically, just recreate this “The Stars are Back on NBC ” promo featuring Michael Richards sliding down an animated staircase into the waiting arms of a signing Crystal Bernard from Wings . Also, Joey Lawrence says, “Whoa,” Tom Brokaw and Katie Couric make out, and John Larroquette picks a star out of his eyeball. Problem solved! And if it doesn’t work, just bring back Seinfeld .

Condoleezza Rice Schools Katie Couric on Why U.S. Invaded Iraq

On December 3, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice gave CBS's Katie Couric a much-needed lesson on why America invaded Iraq. When Couric said to her guest during an “HBO History Makers Series” interview, “Documentaries have been made about how intelligence was incorrectly analyzed and cherry-picked to build an argument for war, and memos from that time do suggest that officials knew there was a small chance of actually finding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq,” Rice stopped the host dead in her tracks (video follows with transcript and commentary): read more

Owen Wilson Promises ‘Hansel Swagger’ In ‘Zoolander’ Sequel

Actor says draft of script is ‘really funny.’ By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Owen Wilson Photo: MTV News At New York Comic Con in October, “Zoolander 2” writer/director Justin Theroux told MTV News that when we finally catch up with Derek and his buddy Hansel — the fashion world’s It dudes back in the 2001 original — we’re hardly going to recognize them. “We start off with them in a pretty bad place,” he said of the sequel plans. “They’re about to ring 40’s bell. They have to claw their way back into the fashion industry in some way or another.” But while these two dimwitted male models might no longer be A-list fashionistas, that doesn’t mean they’ve lost the egocentric mojo that makes them tick. Just take it from Hansel himself, Owen Wilson. “The thing about Hansel is he can’t ever imagine himself, so even if he isn’t the #1 guy, I think he still carries himself as if,” Wilson told MTV News. “He’ll still have that Hansel swagger.” Though a draft of the script is done — Wilson called it “really funny” — there’s still no set date for production to begin. When MTV News caught up with Ben Stiller last month, he told us they’re hoping to begin shooting in 2011. “We’re working on it, we’re working on it,” he said. “Hopefully next year we’re going to be making it. But we’ve been full steam ahead on it.” The fashion world, of course, has changed a great deal since ’01, with new trendsetters coming onto the scene in the years since Mugatu hilariously introduced his Derelicte collection, featuring models dolled up like rag-covered bums. And Wilson has a feeling that none other than Lady Gaga, that meat-dress-wearing fashion icon, could be perfect for a “Zoolander 2” cameo. “Maybe she makes a good foil for Hansel,” he laughed. Katie Couric Will Dance During ‘Glee’ Super Bowl Episode

Jane Lynch reveals that the CBS anchorwoman will perform ‘Tea for Two’ alongside Mathew Morrison. By James Dinh Katie Couric Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/WireImage Katie Couric will come out from behind her CBS news desk and throw on her dancing shoes for the post-Super Bowl episode of “Glee.” The anchorwoman, who previously expressed disappointment in a GQ photo spread featuring the show’s stars earlier this year, will perform a dance number to the tune of “Tea for Two,” according to Jane Lynch. “I haven’t shot with her yet, but yeah, she’s going to be in our Super Bowl episode,” the “Glee” actress told “Access Hollywood” over the weekend. “She’s also doing a dance with [Matthew Morrison]. She’ll be doing ‘Tea for Two.’ ” The whimsical classic, which first appeared in the 1925 musical “No, No, Nanette,” is a loving tune in which a couple imagines their future together. Couric’s “Glee” fandom isn’t a well-kept secret either, as Jane added, “She’s a Gleek! She has been since the beginning.” However, just a few months ago, the 53-year-old anchor was just one of many who appeared not too happy with the cast’s racy photo spread for GQ magazine , which featured Dianna Agron, Cory Monteith and Lea Michele. “As Seth Meyers might say on ‘Weekend Update,’ really?!” Couric said of the spread at the end of her newscast back in October. “These very adult photos of young women who perform in a family show just seem so un-‘Glee’-like. The program is already edgy in the right ways; these images don’t really — in my humble opinion — fit the ‘Glee’ gestalt. I know there are a lot of bigger problems in the world right now, but still, as Mr. Schuester might say to the club, ‘I’m really disappointed.’ ” Katie’s guest spot isn’t the only reason to tune into the hit show’s post-Super Bowl episode, which is reported to be the priciest in television history. Airing February 6, the broadcast will also feature a rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” mashed up with a yet-to-be-chosen song. Sarah Palin Blasts Katie Couric on Fox: ‘I Swear to You, I Will Not Waste My Time With Her’

Fox News is promoting tonight's interview with Sarah Palin on Hannity . She's declared she will not “waste” her time with the CBS anchor who drew all kinds of praise and even awards for pummeling Palin in 2008 (after going all cuddly with “close-talking, free-wheeling, ice-cream eating” Joe Biden ). Hannity asked: “Would you even do another interview with Katie Couric?” Palin said she would like to be more open with journalistic professionals, but left Couric out of that category: As for doing an interview though, with a reporter who already has such a bias against whatever it is that I would come out and say, why waste my time? No. I want to clean up the state, that is so sorry today, of journalism. And I have a communications degree. I studied journalism – who, what, when, where, and why of reporting. I will speak to reporters who still understand that cornerstone of our democracy, that expectation that the public has, for truth to be reported, and then we get to decide our own opinion based on the facts reported to us. So, a journalist, a reporter who is so biased and will no doubt spin and gin up whatever it is that I have to say to create controversy? I swear to you, I will not waste my time with her. read more

Bozell, Hannity Tackle Couric-Murkowski Interview, NPR Portraying Bush As Drunkard in Latest ‘Media Mash’

Katie Couric's boosterism of “moderate Republican” Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and NPR's cheap shot at former President George W. Bush's recovery from alcoholism were just two of the “Media Mash” topics NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell and Fox News host Sean Hannity addressed on the November 20 edition of “Hannity.” “When will you ever hear the word 'liberal' attached to a Republican?” Bozell asked, noting that Murkowski is in fact a liberal Republican. “In eight years, she was on [CBS] one time. In the last week, she's been on there twice,” the Media Research Center president noted after viewing a clip of CBS “Evening News” Katie Couric's November 15 interview with the Alaska senator.
