Lambert to Mentor Idols

Adam Lambert, the glitteriest American Idol runner-up I ever did see, is returning to the show April 13 to mentor contestants for an as-yet-unspecified theme. The speculation begins now! Is it Rock Week? Queen Week? Shiny Men Week? Diplomatically Ignore Danny Gokey Week? What about Vague Jo Anne Worley Resemblance Week? Whatever it is — I can’t believe what Katie Stevens tried to do with it. [ MTV ]

Confirmed: Adam Lambert as American Idol Mentor

In late February, it was reported that Adam Lambert would perform on American Idol . Now, we can confirm that the former runner-up won’t just sing “Whattaya Want From Me” on the April 14 results-show telecast – he’ll serve as a mentor to the finalists on the night before! No word yet on what theme the contestants will tackle during the special visit, but this much is certain: if anyone can spice up this lackluster group of singers, it’s Adam Lambert. Lambert will be the first former Idol to act as a mentor less than a year after he left the show. Many will believe he’s too inexperienced for the gig… but Miley Cyrus took on the same role a couple weeks ago and she’s younger than every current contestant except Katie Stevens and Aaron Kelly. Do you think he should be a mentor? While you ponder that question, click on the photos below, all of which are courtesy of Adam’s recent trip to London: [Photos: PacificCoastNewsOnline.com]

Brigitte Daguerre: Jesse James Mistress #3!

Brigitte Daguerre claims to be Jesse James’ third mistress. At the same time, she abhors the term mistress, because she says her relationship with Sandra Bullock’s husband was more of a flash in the pan than the others. That’s good to know, Brigitte Daguerre . Very good to know. A Los Angeles photographer, she says Jesse hired her in ’08 to do styling work (ha) for a West Coast Choppers photo shoot. She says the two emailed and texted each other for a year, but claims they only had sex four times before she cut it off . Melissa Smith , by contrast, says she had a two-year fling with James. She’s totally winning! Still, Daguerre has 195 text messages between her and Jesse James … Meet Brigitte Daguerre, the alleged Jesse James mistress. How many more of these women will come out of the woodwork before this fiasco ends? [Photo: TMZ] The cell phone numbers of the two of them do sync up, and not unlike the Tiger Woods text messages to Joslyn James, many of them extremely graphic in nature. In a tamer text, he says “I’ll be your monkey.” HOT! That’s how the Vanilla Gorilla rolls, though. Dude goes ape when it comes to pieces on the side, or something. Throughout the exchanges, Jesse repeatedly asks Daguerre to send pictures and set up rendezvous. In one exchange, Daguerre claimed Jesse wasn’t letting loose. He explains, “I’m texting you in secret!” Seriously, what do you want from the guy? Well, besides sex on his office couch, right Michelle McGee ? Yep, we thought so.

American Idol Recap: DeWyze Choice

Asked to take on Billboard #1 hits, a nebulous theme that gave them nearly free rein, Lee DeWyze made an unusual choice but delivered on American Idol last night. Lee honored the late Alex Chilton , who passed away last week, with the Box Tops’ “The Letter,” and was met with general praise from Simon, Randy, Kara and Ellen. It might have even earned him THG’s top spot, but when Crystal Bowersox channeled Janis Joplin on “Me and Bobby McGee,” she reminded us why she’s the favorite. Big Mike was typically solid on “When a Man Loves a Woman,” as was last week’s sensation Siobhan Magnus on “Superstition.” It was easy to single out the top four. Lee DeWyze’s song selection and performance bumped him up with the usual contenders on last night’s American Idol. Can he build on this momentum going forward? Meanwhile, Paige Miles and Tim Urban will be vying for a ticket home thanks to their respective performances on “Against All Odds” and “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.” Clearly not up to par or worthy of a trip back, but one of the two will sneak through … if not both. Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia didn’t too much to help their causes. Agree with our assessment? Who do you see going home tonight? Here’s how we rank Tuesday’s American Idol performances (with last week’s rank): Crystal Bowersox, “Me and Bobby McGee” (2) Lee DeWyze , “The Letter” (5) Michael Lynche, “When a Man Loves a Woman” (3) Siobhan Magnus, “Superstition” (1) Casey James, “The Power of Love” (8) Aaron Kelly, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” (4) Didi Benami, “You’re No Good” (6) Andrew Garcia, “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” (10) Katie Stevens, “Big Girls Don’t Cry” (9) Paige Miles, “Against All Odds” (7) Tim Urban, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” (12) Click to enlarge photos of the finalists in action …

Miley Cyrus to Serve as Mentor to American Idol Hopefuls, Perform on Show This Week

She might hate the Internet , her own hit Disney show and the entire country music genre, but Miley Cyrus still has plenty of passion and expertise to go around. The teen queen will be the celebrity mentor on American Idol this week, Fox confirms. Tuesday night will reportedly feature a Billboard No. 1 hits-themed show. Of the 11 contestants left, three are teens: last week’s sensation Siobhan Magnus , 19, Aaron Kelly, 16, and Katie Stevens, 17. Tim Urban is just 20 years old. Of course, the three teens all took on The Rolling Stones – more than triple their age – and pleased the judges with their homages to the rock gods last week. Will Miley be able to steer them in the right direction this week? Or will the girlfriend of Liam Hemsworth act like she’s better than them? We’ll soon find out … Miley Cyrus is promoting The Last Song this week. No doubt there will be a plug – or maybe even a track – or two from that tear-jerker when she comes to American Idol. On Wednesday’s results show, Miley will be back to perform her hit song, “When I Look At You,” while new couple Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato will duet on “Make A Wave.” In other words, clear the space on your DVR now, because this watershed moment in teen music history may be one you hold onto and savor for many years to come.

American Idol Frowns on Lacey Brown

Following Tuesday night’s American Idol performances , and given how average a lot of them were, it isn’t surprising to see Lacey Brown go on last night’s results show. The pastor’s daughter from Texas got no love from the judges or the fans for her cover of “Ruby Tuesday,” landing in the bottom three with Tim Urban and Paige Miles. Urban would’ve been equally deserving of a pink slip, but this isn’t The Bachelor , where they make up rules on the fly. One stays, one goes. Nice knowing you, Lacey. Ryan announced the return of the “Judges Save” option, allowing the esteemed panel to reverse decisions if fans really, really screw up, but it was not used on Brown. Instead, she sang farewell to her attempt at stardom with Brandi Carlile’s “The Story,” an emotional track prominently featured on Grey’s Anatomy a few seasons ago. Lacey Brown bids American Idol farewell. If Brown and her bottom three cohorts underscored anything, it was how dramatic the dropoff is in talent from the top handful to the rest of the pack. Here’s how we see the remaining finalists going forward, grouped into tiers … The Contenders Crystal Bowersox Siobhan Magnus Michael Lynche Casey James Should Hang Around Awhile Didi Benami Lee DeWyze Andrew Garcia Bottom Three Calling Any Day Now Paige Miles Aaron Kelly Katie Stevens Tim Urban

‘American Idol’ Experts Predict Who Will Go Home Wednesday Night

After her lackluster ‘Ruby Tuesday,’ it could be end of the line for Lacey Brown. By Gil Kaufman Lacey Brown Photo: Jesse Grant/ WireImage For the most part, the top 12 finalists on “American Idol” stepped up their game for their first performance on the big “Idol” stage on Tuesday night . Nobody flamed out completely, succumbed to a bout of nerves, blew a lyric or otherwise face-planted while singing the songs of the Rolling Stones. But, alas, someone has to go home every week and while our “Idol” experts have had differing opinions over the past few weeks about who would be sent packing, they were unanimous in their feeling that Wednesday night’s elimination show will likely prove to be the end of the line for flame-haired Texan Lacey Brown. “I think it’s finally the end of the line for Lacey,” said MJ Santilli of leading “Idol” blog MJsBigBlog.com . “[Her] quasi-countrified take on ‘Ruby Tuesday’ left the judges scratching their heads. Simon said she’s been ‘over-thinking’ her performances. But, whatever the problem is, she’s never seemed entirely comfortable onstage.” Buried in the middle of the lineup, Santilli predicted Brown’s forgettable performance will probably get overlooked in favor of the somewhat similar Didi Benami, who stumbled a bit during “Play With Fire,” but got a more sympathetic reaction from the judges. MTV News’ own 60-second man, Jim Cantiello, said that while it’s always hard to guess who will make up the bottom three each week during the finals, he tagged Brown, Katie Stevens and fallen former front-runner Andrew Garcia as likely candidates. “Common sense would put sleepy Lacey Brown, forgettable Katie Stevens and pitchy Andrew Garcia in the bottom three,” he said. “But I’m putting my money on Casey James, by virtue of process of elimination.” Cantiello’s logic? The “Idol” obsessive explained that Brown and Garcia have massive hometown fanbases — Brown’s apparently made up of Texas churchgoers and Garcia’s of his thousands of YouTube fans — and good-girl high schooler Stevens has the “grandma vote” locked up. “So, that leaves Casey, who was especially forgettable, having gone third in the show’s two-hour lineup. That’s a pretty brutal spot to be in.” For Cantiello, James’ Dixie-fried guitar-rock take on “It’s All Over Now” felt small and lacked the crucial “wow” moment the judges keep saying they’re looking for. “Michael Sarver’s early elimination notwithstanding, country-style singers often fare well on the show,” he said. “But I think country fans might be gravitating towards Aaron Kelly instead of Casey. I also have a sneaking suspicion that the ‘cougar’ ‘Idol’ fans are slowly migrating to Lee Dewyze’s camp, and Lee definitely outperformed Casey Tuesday night.” Cantiello argued that going down with a song titled “It’s All Over Now” is almost too perfect for a farewell sing-off. Hedging his bets, Jim said if it’s not James, it will probably be Brown, who is trying everyone’s patience with her too-similar performances. “Her ‘Ruby Tuesday’ was a fair attempt, but all her performances are blending together these days.” Related Videos Meet The ‘American Idol’ Top 12 ‘American Idol’ In 60 Seconds Related Photos ‘American Idol’ Top 12 Party ‘American Idol’ Season Nine Performances

Siobhan Magnus Paints American Idol Black

Siobhan Magnus and Crystal Bowersox dominated ladies’ night last week. Last night, on the first show of the American Idol finals, the two ladies were 1-2 again. At least that’s how we saw it, but we doubt we’ll receive too many arguments. With the possible exception(s) of Big Mike and Aaron Kelly, no one came close to these two. Not that Crystal wasn’t her usual, solid self, but if there was a clear winner Tuesday, it was Siobhan, who gave “Paint It, Black” dramatic flair on Rolling Stones night. Her vocal range was amazing and the overall performance riveting. Kara DioGuardi compared her to Adam Lambert , which is not praise thrown around lightly. She was a tough act to follow for Crystal Bowersox, whose rendition of “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” seemed to suit her style perfectly. Typically solid. It was Siobhan Magnus and Crystal Bowersox’s show last night. Any other week, it may have been tops, but Simon opined that Siobhan outperformed her. A good thing, he said, as Crystal is obviously legit but needs to raise her game. Aside from Michael Lynche’s “Miss You” and Aaron Kelly’s tender “Angie,” most of the other efforts weren’t impressive. Who’s going home? There are plenty of candidates. Tim Urban’s reggae style “Under My Thumb” and Lacey Brown’s “Ruby Tuesday” struck us as a few performances that could result in a heave-ho. Who knows. Do you agree with our assessment of Tuesday’s elite? Who do you see going home on American Idol tonight? Here’s how we rank last night’s performances: Siobhan Magnus , “Paint It, Black” Crystal Bowersox , “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”
