‘Dark Knight Rises’ Adds Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard

Actors rejoin ‘Inception’ director Christopher Nolan for ‘Batman’ film. By Kara Warner Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images After months of rumors and speculation, “The Dark Knight Rises” has officially named two more members to its already-impressive cast: Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard. Both actors have long been assumed to have joined Christopher Nolan’s third highly anticipated “Batman” film, but were not confirmed in an official capacity. According to the announcement from Warner Brothers, Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon. Cotillard will appear as Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham. Curiously enough, both characters are brand new to the world of the caped crusader: They did not appear in the DC comic upon which the film and character are based. Nolan, who worked with Gordon-Levitt and Cotillard on last summer’s blockbuster “Inception,” said about the film’s new additions, “When you collaborate with people as talented as Marion and Joe, it comes as no surprise that you would want to repeat the experience. I immediately thought of them for the roles of Miranda and Blake, and I am looking forward to working with both of them again.” “The Dark Knight Rises” is set to begin production soon in Pittsburgh, a departure from Chicago, the setting used for Gotham in Nolan’s “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight.” Gordon-Levitt and Cotillard join recently added actors Diego Klattenhoff, Daniel Sunjata, Ben Gorman, Josh Pence and Juno Temple , in addition to fellow “Batman” newcomers Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy. But no matter how loud the protests or how many tears are shed, the end has come. According to frequent director Paul Feig, Carell and Co. filmed Michael Scott’s last episode of “The Office” last week. “It’s exactly what you would want it to be,” Feig told MTV News at the PaleyFest reunion event for his cult-favorite TV show, “Freaks and Geeks.” “It’s emotional, but it’s funny. It’s just a really nice mix and it sends Michael off in a good way. I’m thrilled with it,” he added. “I think fans of the show will be really happy with it.” Speaking to that emotional aspect, Feig went on to say that there were plenty of tears shed on set. “Half the time we were bawling and half the time we were trying not to laugh and ruin takes,” he admitted, adding that the presence of Will Ferrell helped keep things from getting too weepy. “The hilarity index is up even higher,” he said. Jennifer Lopez Features Lil Wayne On Next Single

‘I’m Into You’ will be next single off Love? album, which still has no release date. By Gil Kaufman Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Steven Tyler isn’t the only “American Idol” judge trying to make the most of a double dose of weekly prime-time exposure on TV’s biggest reality show. While Aerosmith’s back catalog has gotten a boost thanks to its prominent placement on “Idol,” fellow judge Jennifer Lopez has parlayed her spot on the program into the highest-charting single of her career with “On the Floor.” And over the weekend, she revealed that she’s got a strong follow-up single ready to go. Speaking with fans during an online chat , on Saturday, Lopez said she’s finished a song called “I’m Into You” with Lil Wayne that will be the next single from her still unscheduled Love? album. “My next single I believe will be a song called ‘I’m Into You’ and it’s going to feature Lil Wayne, so look out for that,” she said. Asked to name her favorite rapper, Lopez said it used to be Nas, but that these days she’s really feeling Weezy, whom she called a “very unique” and “fresh” voice. “Plus he’s on my single!” And though J.Lo did not have a specific release date to announce for the album, she said it would “probably” come out in late May, once two or three singles have hit radio. That would be perfect timing, of course, since “Idol” wraps in mid-May. Lopez, who has toured sporadically during her music career, also said that she planned to launch a world tour in support of Love? . Over the course of the two years she worked on the new album, Lopez said she also recorded Spanish-language versions of some of the songs, and plans to release a full-length Spanish album next. Asked what the hardest part of being a judge on “Idol” this season has been so far, Lopez said, “I didn’t expect that it would be such an emotional roller coaster for me.” She also admitted that saying goodbye to the departing contestants has been very difficult for her. Lady Gaga Gets ‘Bigger And Bigger’ On Born This Way, RedOne Says

‘She’s growing all the time, from the day I met her,’ producer tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Lady Gaga Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images It’s only a matter of weeks until Lady Gaga releases the first single from her highly anticipated album Born This Way, due in May . Producer RedOne recently chatted with MTV News about their latest collaboration, saying it shows the next step in the evolution of the girl formerly known as Stefani Germanotta. “She’s growing all the time, from the day I met her,” RedOne said. “Of course, she’s an encyclopedia of music. She listened to all the Bruce Springsteens, all the legends, and she has music in her. But on her personal level, she’s always growing and growing and growing and becoming bigger and bigger, and her vision’s the same thing. She just needed this platform to put all her ideas and learning from what she’s been doing [into one place], and she’s doing her thing.” With work on the album close to complete, this is a very exciting time for Gaga and him. “It feels exciting. It feels very exciting,” he said with a smile on his face. “It’s really exciting, and I hope the world is going to enjoy this as much as we do.” RedOne also dished about the album’s forthcoming single . “It’s so beautiful, and Gaga is very special to all of us — to the world,” he said. “Honestly, the only thing we do is we get into the studio and suddenly magic happens. We never overthink, or we just do what we do. That’s how it all started. With ‘Just Dance,’ we did it in one hour. There was no overthinking. Even though I remember when we did ‘Poker Face,’ people said musically it brought something new to the music and you won’t be able to top it, we went into the studio and we did ‘Bad Romance’ on a bus. “That explains how we do it, so I can’t tell you anything about what’s coming, but that’s what we do. We just get in and do music we love and feel it, and thank God it comes out good.” What are you expecting from Gaga’s new music? Let us know in the comments!

Lil Wayne Calls Upcoming Single ‘6’7" ‘ A ‘Very Tall Record’

‘Hopefully, it shows people where I’m at lyrically,’ Weezy tells Shade 45. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Last week, Lil Wayne’s right-hand Mack Maine told MTV News that the New Orleans MC’s first expected single from Tha Carter IV, “6’7,”” would be like “A Milli” but “on steroids.” Weezy, however, corrected him on Tuesday (December 14) when he appeared on satellite radio station Shade 45’s morning show with DJ Drama and blogger Karen Civil , in his first extensive interview since his release from prison last month. ( Wayne spoke to MTV News on the red carpet of his welcome home festivities in Miami.) “It’s a monster, actually,” he told Drama. “Hopefully, it shows people where I’m at lyrically. Better than everybody.” But is “6’7″ ” a high-powered “A Milli” on steroids? “Nah,” Wayne said. “Human growth hormones. It’s a very tall record.” The track is reportedly produced by Bangladesh, who helmed the frenetic “A Mili” as well, and will feature Young Money/ Nick Cannon signee Cory Gunz. According to Wayne, he’s also preparing to shoot a video for the clip with iconic hip-hop music director Hype Williams. So far, since his release, the only new Wayne material has been his contribution to Bryan “Baby” Williams’ “Fire Flames” track. But Wayne warned that since his imprisonment, his skills have only increased. “I would say so,” he told Drama, when the DJ asked if he’d improved lyrically compared to before his time in Rikers Island. “I would say, yeah, because it don’t matter where I went, I try to be better than my last [project].” Related Photos The Evolution Of Weezy Related Artists Lil Wayne

‘Love And Other Drugs’ Co-Stars Have Chemistry On (And Off) Screen

‘Just wait, she’s going to say something amazing,’ Jake Gyllenhaal gushes about Anne Hathaway during MTV News interview. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Much of the advance buzz about Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal’s “Love and Other Drugs” has centered on the film’s nudity — the co-stars bare some serious skin in a few key moments — but the actors’ chemistry is another important element in the movie. Actors will typically declare how well the cast and crew got along on set when promoting a movie, whether it’s true or not. But in the case of Hathaway and Gyllenhaal, it seemed obvious the two share a genuine mutual affection, as MTV News learned when we caught up with them to discuss their romantic comedy, which opens Wednesday. Since Hathaway and Gyllenhaal have collaborated onscreen before, we asked what it was like to do press together. “[She’s] annoying,” Gyllenhaal joked about having to sit side-by-side for interviews all day. Then, turning serious, he added, “She’s so dope at press. Can we talk about this for a second? She’s got a rare talent at ‘pressing’ it.” “How dare you set me up at the beginning of an interview like that?” Hathaway interjected in mock protest. “How dare you!” “Your mind is going to be blown by this chick,” Gyllenhaal continued. “Wait, he’s about to say the smartest thing you’ve ever heard!” Hathaway countered. “No, just wait, she’s going to say something amazing and you’re going to be moved, you’re going to cry,” Gyllenhaal enthused. “There’s going to be something you’ve never felt before.” The onetime “Brokeback Mountain” co-stars then began talking over each other, spouting off various compliments. “No, Jake’s great. Jake’s awesome,” Hathaway said as Gyllenhaal echoed the warm fuzzy sentiments. “She’s so talented. She’s at the top of her game. Everything about her is so special,” he said. “It’s so nice to know that someone really has your back,” she said. “She’s so beautiful right now,” he said, which got Hathaway’s attention. “Oh, thank you,” she said, turning to her co-star. “I think you’re just really handsome!” “Her body is gorgeous in the film,” Gyllenhaal continued. “Well, that’s too far,” Hathaway said. ‘Eastbound & Down’ Team Reveals What To Expect From Season Two

Kenny Powers realizes ‘he might be an ass man,’ Danny McBride says of his character’s ‘moral dilemma.’ By Kara Warner Ana de la Reguera in “Eastbound & Down” Photo: HBO LOS ANGELES — Well, “Eastbound & Down” fans, your wait is almost over. HBO’s outrageous, irreverent comedy is back for a second season beginning Sunday, complete with Marilyn Manson’s obsession and cameo bid . Kenny Powers has fled North Carolina for the comforts of a small town in Mexico, where he’s joined by familiar faces and new ones. MTV News hit up the show’s Mexican fiesta-themed premiere recently to find out what this new season is all about. “He’s got a new haircut, as we can see,” creator/writer/director Jody Hill said of Kenny Powers’ cornrows. “He’s in Mexico. There’s a whole new group of characters, so all the people you knew in the first season, we’ve kind of wiped the slate clean and started fresh.” “I play his neighbor,” “Eastbound & Down” newbie Efren Ramirez said. “And in the second season, I play the straight guy wrapped around all these character actors, and that’s a good thing, because I’m always playing all the character roles,” he explained (i.e. Pedro of “Napoleon Dynamite” fame) and this is finally something completely and totally different.” Actor Michael Pe

Lil Wayne’s ‘Not A Human Being’ Clip Dissected

‘He’s almost grown into a mythology now,’ director David Rousseau says. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Lil Wayne’s otherworldly talents have inspired the rapper to dub himself “a Martian.” And for his latest video , the title track to his forthcoming album I Am Not a Human Being , director David Rousseau explored the reference. “It’s one of those things where you can interpret it like we’re trying to dissect who Lil Wayne is,” Rousseau told MTV News. “How does his mind work? He’s almost grown into a mythology now. He’s not even human. He’s like Michael Jordan. The way Michael Jordan dunks a ball wasn’t even human.” The frenzied video features Lil Wayne and his glow-in-the-dark tattoos contrasted with images of written rhymes splashed across the screen. Rousseau said the images were meant to provoke deeper thought into Wayne’s writing process. Oftentimes, the director said, because of the rapper’s personality, the ideas of his lyrics aren’t fully comprehended. “It’s just that dissection of the myth and the man, separating him from the lyrics,” he explained. “Because he’s one of those artists where people hang onto every lyric. He’s not just rapping about anything, you know? Read between the lines and find out what his message is about and stuff. It’s kind of pointing fans at doing that. There’s a deeper meaning to what he’s rapping about, and you gotta get in there.” A leaked version of the video hit the Web last week, but the complete “I Am Not a Human Being” clip was released Wednesday.
