Jennifer Lopez on Casper Smart: He’s My BFF!

In the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar , Jennifer Lopez makes it clear: she heads over heels for Casper Smart . “He’s fantastic; he’s like my best friend,” the ex- American Idol judge tells the magazine. “I can tell him everything, when I’m feeling down, when I’m feeling good. He gives moral support, endless love and support.” Aside from opening up about her young boyfriend, J. Lo also touches on her career in general and a certain iconic fashion statement… On her professional/personal worlds : I’m a singer. I’m a dancer. I’m a performer. I’m an actress. That’s what I’m supposed to be doing. It makes me a better parent, a better person. On staying grounded : I make it as simple and as beautiful as I can because my life is kind of big. So I pack my luggage, or dress myself, or comb my kids’ hair, pick up their clothes – that makes our life beautiful, you know? On her dress for the Grammy Awards in 2000 : “I have that at home. The other day, my housekeeper put it on a mannequin in my spa, where I get my hair and makeup done. She sent me a picture. She was like, ‘You like this dress?’ Um, yeah, but I don’t know if I like it out in the house!

Dear Bossip: Before We Got Married He Agreed To Leave The Streets & Women Alone, And He Hasn’t

Dear Bossip , I am a 31-year old woman married with two kids. My husband is 37-years old, and we’ve been married for three and a half years, but we’ve been together for fifteen years. He is absolutely the love of my life. I’ve dated several men, but he is the only man whom I’ve ever given a title. He is a good provider, a loving and over protective dad. When we first met I was young and dumb and had no clue as to what I wanted or needed in a man. Now, that I’m 31, I want to take my life in a more spiritual direction, however he’s still stuck in the streets. Before we got married we agreed that he would leave the streets alone. He did a six year sentence and I was there for him the whole time. He didn’t fully appreciate this because I had a fling or two while he was locked up, but I kept it real with him.  I clearly spelled out what I did and didn’t want in our lives before we married and he agreed. We’ve been through a whole lot. My kids and I want for nothing. But this does come at a price. Infidelity has always been a problem in our relationship. It’s never been in my face. I’m noisy, so I’ve always been a snooper. I have never actually caught him in the act. He’s never burnt me. I mainly find suspect texts or calls from women. He’ll do good for a few months, or so, but just when I give him the benefit of the doubt something suspicious always pops up. All of the women go along with whatever story he comes up with or they say nothing at all. He does have female clients in his legal profession so it’s hard to differentiate the clients from the hoes. He makes me feel like I’m crazy and insecure. He straightens up for a while after I do something crazy or drastic. I can never get the truth out of him regarding these women (except when he was in jail). It drives me crazy and makes me act out of my character. His motto is “That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.” He’s a heavy weed smoker and drinks a lil too much at times. He spends way too much time “working,” then tries to make me feel bad because he’s out providing for the family. I have a good job. I work full-time and I am a good mom. Recently, we had a domestic dispute (over a woman) initiated by me in a public place. He ended up getting arrested when a witness called the police. The crazy part is he didn’t get arrested for the dispute, but for something far more serious and now blames me. I feel emotionally drained and empty from this relationship. He’s not willing to go to counseling, and randomly goes to church. I’ve invested so much in this relationship and in my heart I don’t want to give it up. I’m torn to say the least. – Mrs. Emotional Roller Coaster Dear Mrs. Emotional Roller Coaster , Let’s see here, pulls out bull-ish calculator. Now, let’s add and get the square root that he’s a hustler (Who the hell is still doing this in 2012 going into 2013?) and it equals he’s a dumba** with no ambition. Let’s divide him getting locked up constantly, and then subtract that he’s a heavy weed smoker and drinks a lil too much (He probably getting high on his own supply! LOL!), and this equals a no street-smarts donkey. And, let’s multiply that he’s cheating and letting these hoes think they wifey, and this equals he’s a broke-a** wanna-be pimp. He needs to take several seats. What the hell are you doing with this damn fool? SMDH! Girl, the problem is that you went back on your word. You agreed that before you got married he would leave the streets alone. That didn’t happen. So now what? You spelled everything out what you did and did not want in your lives before marriage, and he agreed. That didn’t happen. So now what? He is not a man of his word. And, you are not a woman of your word. Neither of you have any integrity. Therefore you get what you got. Why would you expect anything to be different if neither of you were able to keep your word? Why would you expect for him to be a new man if he is not able to maintain his word? And, why would you expect for your life and world to be any different if you did not commit to your own word? I’ll wait while you ponder that. (Files nails and hums a cute little tune). Now pay attention to this important announcement. I don’t want you to get lost. I know I may go a little fast, so I’ll take this slow for you. You wrote, “He makes me feel like I’m crazy and insecure. He straightens up for a while after I do something crazy or drastic. I can never get the truth out of him regarding these women (except when he was in jail). It drives me crazy and makes me act out of my character.” And, then you wrote, “The crazy part is he didn’t get arrested for the dispute, but for something far more serious and now blames me.” You use the word “crazy” four times. You reference it when you say that he makes you crazy, he makes you feel like you’re crazy, and your situation is crazy. The definition of crazy is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Therefore, I pull out my bull-ish calculator and I deduce that YOU ARE CRAZY!  Ain’t nobody got time for all this madness. Get the hell out!!! Why are you putting up with all his BS!?! It’s not worth your sanity or well-being. He’s not impacting your children with any valuable lessons, other than it’s okay to cheat, lie, manipulate, and deceive others, and the ones you love. Oh yeah, he’s in and out of jail, he doesn’t attend church, therefore there’s no spiritual foundation, and he’s not a man of his word, so, therefore he has no integrity. And, I’m curious to know what his legal profession is if he is getting locked up? What professional job will let him keep coming back after he gets out of jail? Girl, he doesn’t and can’t have a real legal professional if he is drinking and smoking all the damn time. Where he work, McDonalds? Wal-Mart? Maintenance at the school? Mechanic at Jiffy Lube? Look, he’s still a little boy in a grown man’s body. I bet he’s running around with corn-rolls in his head, rocking throwback jerseys, and Timbs. He probably got rims on his car, and got his stereo turned up blasting Meek Mills, Jeezy, and Lil Boosie. SMDH! Ma’am, he’s trapped in a time warp trying to hold on to his youth, and you’re trying to get him to grow up and be a man. It ain’t going to happen. Men who run the streets are not husband material. They live and belong in the streets. He hasn’t and won’t mature. He’s trapped and mentally and emotionally thwarted, and he cannot let go of what should of, could of, would have been. It’s time to wake your a** up, and remember the commitment you gave to yourself, and the commitment you decided on when chose to get married. Those commitments are not what you have. I want you to be committed to empowering yourself. Be committed to being a great mom to your children. Be committed to leaving the streets and that environment. Be committed to a life filled with joy, happiness, peace, and love. Your life does not resemble any of what you were hoping you would get. You’re miserable, unhappy, stressed, and dealing with drama. Now, according to my math, if a+b+c does not equal a+b+c, and you’re getting x-y/x, then it’s time to redo your math.  Well, unless you went to Up The Street Public School. Ma’am, you cannot keep putting your children’s lives in danger because of the lifestyle your husband is committed to. Chile, you don’t know these streets like you think you do. One of his own boys can be plotting on him and may want to take him and you out. Hell, one of his customers or one of them ‘hoes’ may get the bright idea to get revenge and eliminate all of you. STOP PUTTING YOUR LIFE AND YOUR CHILDREN’S LIVES ON THE LINE BECAUSE OF HIM. It’s not worth it! And, you cannot keep sacrificing your sanity, and happiness for a man who is not committed to his marriage, or being a real man or father. He can’t commit to himself, therefore how in the hell can he commit to you and his children? His only commitment is to the streets, jail, and other women. Those are the only consistent things in his life. You are not a part of that equation. It’s time to leave! Save your coins, get you a house in the suburbs some place, get your kids settled into a new environment, and do it without him. Remain in church, keep getting spiritually fed, and nourish your soul. Trust and believe, after a year or two, and when you look back on your life with him, and you see how you’ve grown and he’s still doing the same thing from the time you met him, you’ll say to yourself, “What the hell was I thinking?” – Terrance Dean Hey Bossip Fam, what do you think? Amy Nicholson’s / Top 10 of 2012 / Written In Haiku

2012 was a ho-hum year for “serious” cinema. As proof, the Oscar race has narrowed to films like the chipper Argo and dreary Zero Dark Thirty — a chase so routine that the alternative is a Steven Spielberg period piece as wholesome and agreeable as enriched bread. But it was also a banner year for the films that we’ll still want to watch in 2022: Ambitious over-reachers ( Cloud Atlas , The Master , Les Miserables ), loony passion projects ( Killer Joe , Magic Mike , The Paperboy ), and perfect popcorn flicks ( Step Up 4 , The Expendables 2 , Premium Rush ). That last category is frequently left off top ten lists, but it deserves our applause. When studios get tired of risking $250 million on a single blockbuster (and audiences get tired of paying $14 just to keep up with water cooler conversation), mid-priced modest hits like Looper will be our collective salvation — and help build the next generation of filmmakers and stars. The films that made my Top Ten did so because they were bold, memorable and flawless (or at least two of the three). But of course, if critics can judge art, we should take our own creative risks. And so I’ve written my remarks in haiku. 1) DJANGO UNCHAINED Quentin ‘s bold bloodbath An unflinching masterpiece Sam Jackson kills it 2) LOOPER Two actors, one nose In a cornfield dodging fate But can it be done? 3) ANNA KARENINA Old, cold tragedy Blazes with heat and magic Goes ignored, alas 4) 21 JUMP STREET Is our kids learning? Channing Tatum ‘s agent is Let Sir Abs crack jokes 5) COMPLIANCE At minimum wage, A maximum need to please Few brave souls say no 6) PITCH PERFECT Queen Rebel Wilson Bow down before her glory Or sing if you must 7) HOLY MOTORS A quick change artist Speeds through ten lives not his own Who is he? Who cares 8) THE GREY Liam punched a wolf But what mattered was the gloom Snow and fate and death 9) SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS More like ten psychos Softened by dogs and bunnies But still murderous 10) THE PAPERBOY Sweaty, sexy Efron Plus a pervy director Give Kidman a prize Disagree with my picks? Say so in verse. Amy Nicholson is a critic, playwright and editor. Her interests include hot dogs, standard poodles, Bruce Willis, and comedies about the utter futility of existence. I got the wonderful opportunity to speak with Justin Bieber. It…

I got the wonderful opportunity to speak with Justin Bieber. It is safe to say we all know about the controversial subject of him getting sick and throwing up on stage. Of course, every group of paparazzi had to talk to him about this. It happened on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012. That morning when I woke up, I knew I was going to hear all about it from the kids in school, so I decided to wear one of my Justin Bieber shirts so everyone could realize that I don’t care about the hate and rumors, and I still support him through everything. I had no idea he was going to be on TMZ live that day. When I got home from school, my mom had texted me and said, “Make a Skype and add TMZ. They are going to talk to Justin.” Me, get the chance to talk to Justin Bieber? I doubted it was gonna happen. I went along with my day and did some homework until I received another text from my mom asking me to just try to Skype TMZ. Finally I just thought “never say never” and I made the Skype account . My name and email all had to do with Justin, so I guess the guy running the Skype had a feeling I really wanted to talk to Justin. He chatted me and asked me if I would like to be on the show. I replied with yes, so he gave me a list of topics they were going to talk about, Justin being one of them. I immediately answered with “I wanna talk to Justin Bieber.” The man chatted me back and said, “What is your comment about him getting sick?” I answered with “I would just like to tell him I feel really sorry for him that he threw up on stage but I think its great that he kept performing for the fans.” A few minutes later I got a message saying “Okay, great! Call us at 4:30 to see if you can be on the show” I waited til about 4:25 and I got a chat from them saying, “Harvey feels you have the best answer and he would like to put you on the show to talk to Justin.” I started freaking out. The people called me and gave me a short pep talk telling me that I could fangirl a little and then tell Justin what I had to say. Then, they called Justin and talked to him about what they needed to talk about. Towards the end of their conversation Harvey said, “Okay somebody wants to talk to you.” I was so nervous. I was shaking and I just said what was on my mind. “Um, Hi my name is Erica from Monroe, New Jersey, and I am a very big fan of you. Um, and I’m going to see you in concert on November 9th, and I would just like to say I feel very sorry for you that you threw up on stage but I think its great that you kept performing for the fans.” I waited a second. Justin then said, “Aww thank you, haha, thank you so much.” My heart literally stopped for a second . My dad then came in the room and said, “Erica, Justin Bieber knows who you are!” I held it together for the rest of the call, and as soon as I got done talking and I hung up I cried my eyes out for about 30 minutes straight. The man running the Skype chatted me and told me that Justin said he loved talking to me. If you would like to see it: click here to watch   (skip to 21 minutes). Even though I talked to him for about 30 seconds, I got to talk to my idol, and my inspiration. I have seen him twice in concert since then in NJ and Brooklyn. I have even met people from Stratford who used to know him and Pattie. Those experiences are a whole different story. I hope this is a lesson for everyone to really follow your dreams and NEVER SAY NEVER! I did not AT ALL think I was going to get to speak to him. But I thought never say never and I am a completely changed person thanks to him. Hopefully one day I will meet him, but this is all I have for now. Thank you! – Erica @ericaquigleyy Link: I got the wonderful opportunity to speak with Justin Bieber. It…

I honestly cannot believe I am making another MBE. I got tickets…

I honestly cannot believe I am making another MBE. I got tickets in June for a VIP package for Philly. It wasn’t a meet & greet package but I was still happy. On November 3rd I went up to Philly to try and find Justin. The concert was Sunday so I decided I would try and find him the day before . I got to Philly around 8 a.m. and had no sign of Justin at all. I drove around all day and got nothing checking every place. Around 1 p.m. Dan tweeted he was at a restaurant. I went there and followed him out of the restaurant, got a pic with him, and ended up loosing him.   We drove around and we saw tour buses. I SCREAMED AND RAN OUT OF THE CAR. We ended up meeting all of the dancers. Nick later told us that Justin wasn’t with them. It was 7 p.m. now and I thought I had no hope. We left and drove around. We checked some more hotels and decided to stay at one and wait. We ended up walking in and out of the lobby twice. I walked back in to check one more time and walked right into Kenny and Allison. I KNEW JUSTIN WAS STAYING AT THIS HOTEL. I ran to the side of the hotel and there was Justin’s tour bus. I freaked out. There were only ten of us there and I was telling everyone to calm down or Justin won’t come over. Justin walked out of the bus after 45 minutes and I called him over because I told everyone to stop talking and don’t scream. I said, “Justin please come here. I have a gift for you.” He goes, “You have a gift for me?” and I said, “Well not really.. for you but for your hamster.” He said, “My hamster? Pet Smart?” and he came over to me and took the present. We took a picture and he then took some with the other people and left. I thought honestly Justin could care less about my present. The next day I went back to the hotel. This was the day of the concert. I met Justin’s grandparents and Scrappy. We waited until around 3 p.m. and there was about 40 people there at this time. I thought there was no way Justin was going to stop. They were bringing Justin’s luggage to the bus and what do I see on the luggage – MY GIFT! I was freaking out. I couldn’t believe he kept it. It was 3 p.m. and Justin walked out of the side. I called him over saying, “Justin can I please get a picture? I’ve been here since 7.” He came right over and only took a picture with me and left. I felt bad but I knew I worked hard. The concert was amazing and I had awesome seats. Two weeks later Justin posted on Instagram and my gift was in the background on his tour bus. I was dying. Thank you so much for reading my MBE and I hope to be reading yours someday. Don’t give up and never say never.   -@MarisaGJB Visit link: I honestly cannot believe I am making another MBE. I got tickets…

NRA Press Conference: Group Calls For Armed Police in Every School

Having gone dark online for the past week, the National Rifle Association held a press conference today for the first time since last Friday’s Connecticut shooting. The NRA condemned both the violence and those seeking to use it for political gain, while proposing a solution quite different than many in America have sought. NRA President David Keene and Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre both spoke this morning on behalf of the organization’s four million members. LaPierre began with condolences to the people of Newtown, Conn., who have “suffered such an incomprehensible loss as a result of this unspeakable crime.” “While some have tried to exploit tragedy for political gain, we have remained respectably silent. Now, we must speak for the safety of our nation’s children,” he added. And speak he did. What did the NRA propose? Here’s the main takeaway … “For all the noise and anger directed at us over the past week, no one, nobody has addressed the most important, pressing and immediate question we face.” “How do we protect our children right now, starting today, in a way that we know works?” “The only way to answer that question is to face the truth. Politicians pass laws for gun free school zones, they issue press releases bragging about them.” “They post signs advertising them. In doing so, they tell every insane killer in America that schools are the safest place to inflict maximum mayhem with minimum risk.” “How have our nation’s priorities gotten so far out of order. Think about it?” “We care about our money, so we protect our banks with armed guards. Airports, office buildings, power plants, court houses, even sports stadiums are all protected by armed security.” “We care about our president, so we protect him with armed Secret Service agents. Members of Congress work in offices surrounded by Capitol Police officers.” “Yet, when it comes to our most beloved, innocent, and vulnerable members of the American family, our children, we as a society leave them every day utterly defenseless.” “The monsters and the predators of the world know it, and exploit it.” “The only way – the only way to stop a monster from killing our kids is to be personally involved and invested in a plan of absolute protection.” “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.” “I call on Congress today, to act immediately to appropriate whatever is necessary to put armed police officers in every single school in this nation.” Obviously, those on the other side of the gun control debate will lose their mind at the notion that MORE guns in schools will somehow prevent violence. MSNBC’s Christopher Hayes said moments ago in response that “good guys with guns vs. bad guys with guns is the moral cosmology of a small child.” That it may be, but is there a better solution? If so, what? Will an assault weapons ban or any other component of the Obama administration’s effort to curb gun violence in the U.S. actually be effective? Historically, at least, the American public has been bitterly divided. Where do you stand on all this? Tell us in the survey below: Should there be more restrictive gun control laws?   YES. Fewer guns, fewer tragedies! NO. It’s unconstitutional and won’t stop anything! View Poll »
