Ever since launching the series last year, his books have been added to classrooms all over the country. Littlejohn says that he wanted to create the books so that children like him see themselves reflected in the literature that they read. “I’m really happy that my books are giving kids like me a chance to see themselves in fun stories,” he said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “I love to read and want to encourage other kids to read great books and maybe even write new books of their own.” Teachers throughout the country have said that his books have resonated with their students. “I purchased this book as a read-aloud for my 4th grade class,” said one of the teachers. “My students laughed out loud while listening and were inspired by the creative voice of this talented young author! It’s always upsetting to hear that someone is foolish enough to not vaccinate their children . But the wife of a White House aide is taking things further than decrying vaccines. In a pair of tweets that went viral in the worst way, she claims that having the measles keeps you healthy and fights cancer . Bill Shine is an aide to Donald Trump. His wife is Darla Shine. It turns out that, just as Trump struggles to understand climate science, Darla is unable to grasp medical science. “Here we go LOL #measlesoutbreak on #CNN,” Darla tweeted. She then tagged her tweet: “#Fake #Hysteria.” “The entire Baby Boom population alive today had the #Measles as kids,” she claims. This, as we will address later, is known as survivor bias . Darla does more than merely express doubt at the necessity of vaccinations. She actually welcomes the return of easily preventable diseases. “Bring back our #ChildhoodDisease,” she writes eagerly. With regard to those once-defeated ailments, Darla claims: “they keep you healthy & fight cancer.” That is, just to clarify, completely untrue. In fact, there was a recent case in which a small child beat leukemia only to die from exposure to measles. “I had the # Measles # Mumps # ChickenPox as a child and so did every kid I knew,” Darla writes. Sure. These preventable diseases were once acceptad as an unpleasant and sometimes fatal fact of life. “Sadly my kids had # MMR,” she writes. ” So they will never have the life long natural immunity I have.” She concludes her contrarian nonsense, writing: “come breathe on me.” Darla is unfortunately not the only famous person proud of her ignorance on medical science. First of all, as we mentioned, “everyone who’s alive survived it” is called survivor bias . Similarly, everyone who has been shot and lived survived a gunshot. That doesn’t mean that gunshots are safe, or not deadly. Measels can also cause lifelong problems even for those who survive. Also, just as vaccines do not cause autism, measels do not bestow some special protection against cancer. But, you heard the lady. By all means, go breathe on her. (Kailyn Lowry of Teen Mom 2 fame recently revealed that she no longer vaccinates her children, which is disappointing fo fans who thought she was a good mom) “My friend’s daughter is deaf because of LOL measles,” responded one tweeter, mocking Shine’s tone. “LOL childhood diseases contracted during pregnancy cause serious birth defects,” the tweet continues. That same tweeter then wondered: “Does this LOL at preventable misery reflect the WH press office position.” We should note that there are unfortunately anti-vaxx people on both sides of the political aisle. We hope that this does not impact Stormi) Fortunately, the CDC’s literal entire job is controlling disease, so they are not ambiguous about the importance of vaccines. “Children should get two doses of MMR vaccine,” the CDC states. “Starting with the first dose at 12 to 15 months of age.” “And,” the recommendations continue. “The second dose at 4 through 6 years of age.” “In the decade before 1963 when a vaccine became available, nearly all children got measles by the time they were 15 years of age,” the CDC notes. “Also each year, among reported cases, an estimated 400 to 500 people died,” the CDC reminds the public. (Jim Carrey has unfortunately expressed some troubling views that lead people to believe that he is opposed to vaccinations) The World Health Organization has noted a 30% uptick in measles cases worldwide, though vaccine hesitancy is only one of the factors. Some of those opposed to vaccines believe that they may cause autism. This is false, but it is deeply troubling to hear people imply that they would rather see their child dead than autistic. Some people, such as those who are immuno-compromised, cannot be vaccinated. They rely upon herd immunity to avoid potentially fatal ailments. Sadly, anti-vaxx parents do not seem to care. The LHHNY star recently chatted with BOSSIP about the many hats she wears and spoke on her daughter Infinity who she met through her “Everything Girls Love P.U.D” foundation and mentored for three years. According to Yandy, Infinity, who she foster mothers, is special to her and a welcome addition to her family alongside her children Skylar and Omere. “I have been incredibly blessed to have her in my household,” said Yandy. With that in mind, it’s no wonder that Yandy’s none too pleased with Kimbella whom she says unforgivably made nasty comments she made about Infinity. Yes, I was in the wedding, yes I stood by her side and I was happy to be there. I definitely felt proud to be there but that was a week and a half before that episode aired. Jon Gosselin and Kate Gosselin have gone back and forth quite a lot over the years. Heck, the former couple went back and forth even when they were married, as often captured by TLC cameras for the painful reality show Jon and Kate Plus 8. But newly-obtained legal documents prove that Jon has taken this never-ending feud to a new, very disturbing level. As previously detailed, Jon now has temporary custody of 14-year old son Collin. He earned this right in December after Kate failed to show up at a court hearing , thereby failing to officially respond to Jon’s official request for Collin to reside under his roof. (This sextuplet had spent the previous two years at a school for special needs children.) In the time since, Jon has shared a number of social media photos of himself and Collin, along with himself and daughter Hannah, who still technically “belongs” to Kate — but who has been living with her dad for about a year. Kate, for her part, has remained almost entirely silent on the issue. However, Radar Online has now published the court records submitted by Jon’s legal team in October, the ones that eventually led to a judge placing Collin in his father’s care. And these records paint Kate in an awful light, accusing her of actually being a danger to young Collin. “It would not be in the best interests of the minor child…to have independent time with mother or to have mother share legal custody of the minor child,” the documents state. For what reason? “Because mother has not cooperated with the child’s treatment and is a ‘trigger’ for the minor child,” Jon’s legal team claimed last fall. In the filing, Gosselin requested temporary sole legal and physical custody of Collin, which is exactly what he was granted. But that’s pretty crazy, right? Jon is saying that Kate has actively damaged her own child. She’s the one who has said on record here and there that Collin has “special needs,” which is why he’s been away from his family while receiving professional assistance for these unknown needs. Jon, conversely, clapped back against this assertion in December. “He is not on any spectrum or special needs,” Jon said simply, taking a clear shot at his ex-wife in the process. In 2016, Kate had alleged the opposite, telling People Magazine: “Collin has special needs. [There’s] a fairly fluid diagnosis of what those needs are, but he needs to learn certain strategies to help him deal with things. “This has been a struggle we’ve had for a very long time, and it’s one I’ve dealt with on my own. I’ve felt very alone in this.” We’re wading into very sensitive territory here, broaching the topic of a 14-year old boy’s mental health and/or learning disabilities. We don’t wish to speculate or gossip about such a difficult subject. Our main point here instead is to show just how unfortunate a situation he and his seven siblings are in, having to live with parents who continue to fight in both public and legal fashion. What could Jon possibly mean when he says Kate serves as a “trigger” for Collin?!? Kate, as we said previously, has not commented on any of Jon’s remarks regarding Collin, with whom Jon claims his ex spends no time at all . But she did speak to journalists this week about her upcoming dating show, which will feature her trying to find love and also feature her 18-year old daughters, Mady and Cara. Is it really a great idea to have her children on TV with her again? Yes, Kate believes. “I feel like, more than anything, [being on TV] has enriched their lives,” she told members of the press on Tuesday, expounding as follows: “It has made them world-wise and taught them a lot about people’s intentions I think more so than other kids their age… “They are very intelligent and informed, and I don’t worry about that, because we started this when they were very young… “Ydou always want to do the best for your kids, and I did it in a way that, you know, we live our real lives and that’s filmed… “And they’ve turned out great, and they are very, very supportive of this, and it’s opened up so many opportunities for our family. “And, so, it’s been great. It’s been, essentially, a family business and it’s allowed me to work with my kids kind of in and out of frame. “Everything has goods and bads … The goods overwhelmingly outweigh the bads.”
