Just over two months since her shocking death, we now know why Kim Porter passed away . The model, actress and ex-girlfriend of Sean “Diddy” Combs died of lobar pneumonia, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner announced on Friday. The manner of death has been certified as natural. Porter shared three children with the music mogual and remained a very close part of his life, long after the pair split up as a couple. Porter had only just wished Diddy as happy birthday days before she suddenly died. For those wondering, meanwhile… “Lobar pneumonia (pneumonia) is an infection of the lung caused by bacteria,” the official report reads, explaining further: “Immune cells invade the air spaces (where oxygen is taken in), and this is accompanied with necrosis (death of cells). Pneumonia decreases the lungs ability to take in oxygen, and over time it can cause sudden death.” According to this same report, Porter went to the doctor days before she died with “cold/flu-like symptoms.” A nurse also visited her home and gave her “saline solution with vitamins.” An autopsy was completed on Porter a day after she was found dead in her home on November 15. However, her death certificate previously stated her cause of death as “deferred” and the manner of death as “pending investigation.” The toxicology report says there were no narcotic drugs or alcohol in her system. She was 47 years old. Porter was buried in her hometown of Columbus, Georgia on November 24. In audio made public from Diddy’s moving eulogy , the rapper opened up about his relationship with Porter and vowed to keep her memory alive forever. “I just want to say to my kids, Justin, Christian, D’Lila, Jessie, Chance and the other man in the house, Quincy: Your mother instilled in me this, and I pledge in front of everybody right now that I will always be there for you,” he said, adding: I will always take care of you. Diddy and Porter broke up for good way back in 2007. But they remained on such close terms over the years that they never even agreed to a formal custody arrangement. They were vital parts of each other’s lives up until the day Kim died. Quipped Diddy in his eulogy: “To the girls especially, we about to enter some different type of times. I want you to be able to talk to me about everything, and I mean everything, and I mean everything.” He continued later on: “Kim, we gonna miss you so much. But I ain’t gonna miss you too much because I’m not gonna let your voice inside of me stop talking. “I know you like to talk to me a lot once you get on those rants, and I just want you to know I’m gonna be listening.” And he concluded: “As time went on, our relationship took so many different changes, from being boyfriend and girlfriend to being lovers to being best friends to being just straight-up homies, like somebody that you know you can count on. “We just love y’all, we appreciate y’all, appreciate the family. To all the words that I’m forgetting, to anything I’m forgetting to say, we love you, Kim.”
Kim Porter has been laid to rest. On Saturday, in her hometown of Columbus, Georgia, the late actress and model was mourned by hundreds of friends, famiily members and loved ones. Most of them remain absolutely stunned that the 47-year old is no longer with us. As previously reported, Ported died on November 15 after being found unresponsive in her Los Angeles home. The mother of four had been feeling ill enough to call a doctor just the day before, but it’s unknown at this time whether or not said illness played a role in her passing. At this time, we cannot say for certain why Porter died . On a celebrity front, Porter has been written about on websites such as ours because she dated Diddy off and on for 13 years, breaking up for good with the rapper in 2007. The two stayed very close over the years, however, because they were the parents of three kids together. The music mogul was in attendance at Porter’s funeral this weekend, of course, as were the following well-known individuals: – Kimora Lee Simmons. – Tichina Arnold. – NeNe Leakes. – Kandi Burruss. – Lil’ Kim. – Yolanda Adams. – Mary J. Blige. – Faith Evans. Shortly before the sad ceremony got underway, Diddy Tweeted the following message about the love of his life: “Today we lay to rest our ANGEL. Her spirit lives on with us FOREVER!!! We thank you all for your prayers and support. You have no idea how much it means to us. We thank GOD for all of you. #KimPorter. He had previously mourned Porter by leaving another post that read: For the last three days I’ve been trying to wake up out of this nightmare. But I haven’t. I don’t know what I’m going to do without you baby. I miss you so much. Today I’m going to pay tribute to you, I’m going to try and find the words to explain our unexplainable relationship. We were more than best friends, we were more than soulmates. WE WERE SOME OTHER SHIT!! And I miss you so much. Super Black Love. Beyonce, meanwhile, also acknowledged Porter’s death on Saturday. The Grammy-winning artist honored Kim in a series of touching throwback photos, the first of which appeared to be taken from a yearbook. “Heaven couldn’t wait for you,” Beyonce wrote as a touching caption. According to TMZ, funeral details for Porter included the following: Porter’s golden casket traveled to the ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage. The church was decorated with white roses, many of which adorned the casket. A black and white photo of Porter was also placed near it. A live band and choir performed various musical numbers. “The service was lengthy with many people speaking and performing. The mood was somber but it was also a celebration of Kim’s life with uplifting music and prayer,” a source tells E! News. There was also a public viewing held at the Charles E. Huff International Funeral Home before the funeral commenced on Saturday, as well as a viewing on Friday. Porter is survived by her and the Diddy’s son Christian Casey Combs and twin daughters Jessie James Combs and D’lila Star Combs; along with the model’s father Jake D. Porter, Jr. and her grandmother Lila Mae Star. God broke the mold when he made Kim, there was truly no other woman like her,” Porter’s extended family, including Diddy’s, said in a statement on Friday. “Although her time here on earth was far too short, she lived a life full of purpose and meaning. She was a loving mother and devoted friend. She was the epitome of kindness and grace. “There wasn’t a person she met who’s soul she did not touch. Diddy has spoken out for the first time since the stunning death of Kim Porter . As previously reported, Porter passed away last week for unknown reasons. She had been suffering from pneumonia for several weeks and had called her doctor the day before her death because she was not feeling well. At this time, however, we cannot say for certain what caused the passing of the 47-year old actress and model, who dated Diddy off and on for 13 years and who was the mother to three of his kids. According to a 911 call, Porter was in “cardiac arrest” prior to paramedics arriving at her home. She was pronounded dead at the scene. We’ve heard from many sources in the time since, all explaining how close Diddy and Porter remained after their final break-up in 2007 and all describing Diddy as devastated and heartbroken. But, as we said, this is the first time we’ve heard from Diddy on the subject. “For the last three days I’ve been trying to wake up out of this nightmare. But I haven’t,” the music mogul wrote on Saturday, alongside a throwback video of the pair posing together for a pregnancy photoshoot. He continued: “I don’t know what I’m going to do without you baby. I miss you so much. “Today I’m going to pay tribute to you, I’m going to try and find the words to explain our unexplainable relationship. “We were more than best friends, we were more than soulmates. WE WERE SOME OTHER SHIT!! And I miss you so much. They were able to work everything out on friendly and flexible terms. “He and Kim were still very close friends and co-parents even though their romantic relationship didn’t work,” a People Magazine source says. “They were still a family.” The pair were parents of twin girls born in 2006 and a son born in 1998. Porter, meanwhile, was also the mother of another son from another relationship. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Porter’s death in a statement explaining that officers responded to a death investigation at 11:40 a.m. local time in Toluca Lake, California. Once they arrived, they found a female unresponsive at the residence. Her cause of death remains undetermined at this time. Diddy and Porter started dating in the 1990s and ended for good in 2007. Friday US Weekly reported that the hip-hop mogul was inconsolable over the loss of the mother of three of his children. “Diddy is inconsolable,” the insider says. “Kim’s passing has turned his life upside down.” The source described the former couple’s relationship as still close, even following their breakup: “Kim and Diddy didn’t always see eye-to-eye on things, but their love for their children and the deep respect they had for each other trumped any issue they had,” the source says. “They were on very good terms in recent years. She was a ‘ride or die’ and very loyal to Diddy.” “Kim treated all of Diddy’s children like her own — not just the ones they shared — which makes the situation even more devastating,” the insider tells Us. “Diddy values family over everything in his life. He sees his children as an extension of himself. [They are] his proudest achievement, and he has deep connections to them individually.” Fortunately Diddy has been able to turn to former girlfriend Cassie for support. The pair were spotted together just a day after Porter’s death. Combs was photographed stepping out of a silver vehicle in Los Angeles, casually dressed in red basketball shorts and a black “Do The Right Thing” hoodie. Cassie was also dressed down in a black, oversized sweatshirt, leggings and sneakers. The pair had reportedly split a month ago after dating for 11 years. A source told E! Upon passing along the shocking news yesterday that Kim Porter died at the young age of 47 , nearly every outlet referred to the model as Diddy’s ex-girlfriend. And this was an accurate description. But it’s also an incomplete one. According to TMZ, Porter and Diddy may have broken up for good in 2007 (following 13 years of off-and-on dating), but they remained very close in the decade-plus since.
