A debonair Drake , covered JET Magazine in a black pinstripe suit and fresh line-up. The Young Money rapper shared his thoughts on “respect in the rap game” and his new album Take Care which has charted at number one, selling over 659,000 units in the first week! On respect in the rap game “I think that it’s evident that I’m myself, and I think people respect me for that across the board, he says. I get respect from the guys who are respected for being real rapper’s rappers. I get respect from women. I get respect from mothers, fathers and kids. It’s very humbling and flattering and incredible, and I’m honored to be in this position because I get to be myself. And I get a lot of love for it.” On what Take Care means to him “So was he feeling a bit overwhelmed “Yeah, that’s just the mode I was in. I know the album isn’t the most energetic body of work in the world. I wanted people to be with me because my life isn’t just one big party . There are moments I have where I’m by myself, and it’s very reflective,” he says. “I have a desire to come back and do some more aggressive music, because I truly enjoy those anthems and those moments as well. But I think this album is a great balance.”
‘In the Shady crew first, for me, it’s not to be the best because it ain’t gonna happen,’ Wolf tells MTV News. By Rob Markman Yelawolf Photo: MTV News The Shady Records cipher at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards was one of the year’s best hip-hop moments. YelaWolf , Slaughterhouse and Eminem dropped some of the most densely packed rhymes in recent memory. Now, with his newly released remix of “Hard White,” Gadsden, Alabama’s Wolf aims to recapture some of that magic. While Em isn’t present, T.I. ., Crooked I, Royce Da 5’9,” Joell Ortiz and Joe Budden all hold it down lyrically alongside Yela. And just like the Shady Cypher, picking a standout verse on the track could be difficult. T.I. sets it off with his usual swagger as Yela picks up with a vivid story rhyme that details a high-school shooting. Crooked, Royce, Joell and Budden all follow with tightly woven verses, boasting of their rap supremacy — much like the Shady crew did in the BET cipher. “The BET cipher, yeah, we killed it,” Wolf told MTV News last week. “That was a huge day for me, going up to Detroit and having that time with me, Slaughter and Marshall [Mathers]. That’s the first we ever had that closed environment, uninterrupted by fans.” Surely, a room full of respected MCs must get competitive, but when it comes to collaborating with his crew, Yela said he’s actually humbled to be down with such talent. “In the Shady crew, first, for me it’s not to be the best because it ain’t gonna happen,” he said modestly. “You just have to be confident in what you’re doing and know that you might get ate up at any moment by any of these dudes because they’re all so ridiculous and just be honored to be a part of it.” On November 21, Yelawolf is set to drop his debut album, Radioactive. So far we know the album boasts appearances from Eminem, Kid Rock and Gangsta Boo as well as production from the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and WillPower. Related Artists YelaWolf
