Lindsay Lohan Charged With Felony Grand Theft

‘Don’t push your luck,’ judge tells actress during arraignment for allegedly stealing a necklace. By Mawuse Ziegbe, with additional reporting by Gil Kaufman Lindsay Lohan at her arraignment in Los Angeles on Wednesday Photo: Mario Anzuoni-Pool/ Getty Images Lindsay Lohan was arraigned Wednesday (February 9) on a felony charge related to her recent jewelry theft case, and the presiding judge made it clear that he wants the troubled starlet to stay straight. Lohan arrived in court in a clingy white minidress, big black shades and hair in a blond ponytail with a necklace tucked into her collar. In the courtroom, the actress sat quietly next to her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, who said Lohan’s probation officer maintained she has been “a good probationer.” Ultimately, the judge decided to revoke her probation in her previous misdemeanor case and set bail at $20,000. At the close of the minutes-long arraignment, Judge Keith Schwartz addressed Lohan directly and advised her that her current circumstance is more serious than her previous legal scrapes. “You’re in a different situation now that a felony has been filed against you,” Schwartz said, later adding that, “If you violate the law, I will remand you and set no bail.” The judge explained that Lohan wouldn’t be able to dodge jail time and post bail as she did last year after she admittedly failed a court-mandated drug test , saying, “A felony is a different situation and you’re not entitled to bail.” The judge also firmly told the starlet, “You need to follow the laws just like everybody else,” and added, “Please, don’t push your luck. I’m telling you, things will be different.” Lohan allegedly lifted a $2,500 necklace from a Venice, California, jewelry store on January 22. The owner reported the theft to the Los Angeles Police Department, which later investigated the accusation and presented evidence to the District Attorney’s office last week. The actress has been officially charged with one count of felony grand theft and faces up to three years in prison. The case is unusual for a number of reasons, according to criminal defense lawyer Jacob Glucksman, who used to be a deputy district attorney in the Los Angeles County Prosecutors office. “It does seem odd to me,” Glucksman told MTV News on Wednesday afternoon a short time before Lohan’s arraignment. “Most theft cases are: You go into a store and hide something in your bag and leave or take it from a person. Something like this is fairly rare and begs the questions: Why didn’t the store just go to Lindsay’s people and not the cops?” Glucksman said the case will come down to the issue of intent, which could be hard for the prosecutor’s office to prove. One of the keys to the case will be prior acts, including similar incidents in the past in which Lohan has been accused (but never criminally charged) with keeping or taking something that didn’t belong to her. “There’s an evidence code in California [section 1101 (b)] that relates to character evidence,” he said. “It says that character evidence cannot be used to prove a person’s propensity to commit a crime. That means they can’t say that ‘Lindsay Lohan is the type of person who would commit this crime because she’s done XYZ in the past.’ ” However, Glucksman, who is not involved in the Lohan case, added, you can use prior acts to show “motive, intent, opportunity, knowledge or modus operandi,” in which case prosecutors could use the character evidence to show that she had intent to steal this time. “You would say, ‘In the past, someone has given her a coat, a watch, trinkets … and they haven’t asked for it back,’ and because she had the knowledge and intent to keep it, that’s what she did this time too.” Lohan does not have to have been charged with crimes in the prior acts in order for them to be brought up in court, but a judge could seek to limit such evidence if he or she thought it would confuse or mislead jurors and possibly lead them to convict Lohan for a past crime rather than the one that led to her charging. The necklace-nicking incident is the latest case in Lohan’s extensive litany of legal run-ins. The starlet was recently released from rehab after failing a court-ordered drug test and spending 2010 in and out of courtrooms and in prison for continually failing to comply with the conditions of her probation stemming from a 2007 DUI bust. 10 Skills Needed to Thrive in a Post-Collapse World

Some experts see the perfect storm emerging for a dramatic collapse of Western civilization claiming we've reached environmental, economic, and geopolitical tipping points. Clearly, some skills will be far more valuable than others if this societal breakdown occurs. Sorry bankers, lawyers, and accountants, there won't be a need for you in a post-collapse world. Before we quantify the skill sets that will be viable, it is important to define the severity of a “post-collapse” scenario. When taken as a whole, together these tipping points could potentially converge to create a post-apocalyptic Mad Max-type world for the vast majority of humanity. However, given the advanced technology that we possess today, it is unlikely to ever become quite that primitive ever again. Surely there will be pockets of energy and food independence no matter what possible scenario unfolds, but the vast majority may be left to fend for themselves. It would take a serious cataclysmic earth event like a super volcano, a meteor impact, major electromagnetic pulse event, or dramatic pole shift to effect the entirety of humanity. Man-made events like nuclear war, environmental damage, or total economic collapse, no matter how devastating, will be somewhat isolated and contained to specific areas and populations. Incidentally, every nation or territory that has experienced these man-made catastrophes has roared back to life in less than one generation. The only example of nuclear survival was in Japan, while the largest recent big economic collapse was the break-up of the Soviet Union. In both cases those countries went through a very tough period, but ultimately they persevered. For sake of this article, let's assume that some level of devastation is caused by each type of tipping point in the United States. Our ever escalating wars finally reach our shores by way of long-range nuclear missiles, total economic collapse occurs rendering the dollar worthless, and we would likely have less electricity and water than Iraq did after Bush's “shock and awe” campaign. Gasoline and oil supplies would likely be down to a trickle, halting all supply lines of food and other goods to big box stores. Factory farming will be impossible without cheap oil products readily available. The suffering will be dramatic. The only question will become, how do the citizens react? Both the USSR and early 1950s Japan were far more agrarian, and far less dependent on big box stores than America currently is. American dependence on long supply lines, interconnected yet vulnerable electric grid, and pharmaceutical-based healthcare may lead to a more severe breakdown of society than witnessed in those countries. Although, innovative technology for alternative energy and agriculture practices will play a part in surviving; but they can only help the few with the knowledge, means, and stability to use them. And stability will be in low supply for some time, resulting in only small groups with relative comfort — those who planned for the worse. However, as an optimist, I believe that after the initial chaos Americans will rediscover solidarity for one-another, much like they did after 9/11, but this time it will be more sustained out of absolute necessity. Many articles have been written about how to survive the coming collapse, or what is needed to survive, but not many articles have been written about what skills will have value in a post-collapse world. Imagine fulfilling human necessity without consistent fuel or electricity, large-scale food production, or fully-stocked pharmacies and hospitals. The only form of wealth in a collapsed civilization is the knowledge and skills to produce something of human value. Here are 10 invaluable skills that will likely help you sustain yourself in a hand-made local world: Read More: http://globalpoliticalawakening.blogspot.com/2010/11/10-skills-needed-to-thrive-… added by: GLOBALPOLITICAL

Now you can breathe easy, Infidels: Wheelchair-bound nun searched by TSA

Jihad Watch reader Jim writes: Here's a picture I took on my phone when passing through security in Miami on Wednesday. The nun was travelling with three others, not unlike the Flying Imams come to think of it. My wife, Laurie, not a nun, said “Look!” and I turned and snapped this shot before the TSA agent put up her hand. It was only after we furtively looked at my phone giddy with the knowledge that we'd actually captured the moment that we saw the nun's wheelchair. added by: crystalman

GLOBAL POLITICAL AWAKENING: Bill Gates funds covert vaccine nanotechnology

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is gaining a reputation for funding technologies designed to roll out mass sterilization and vaccination programs around the world. One of the programs recently funded by the foundation is a sterilization program that would use sharp blasts of ultrasound directed against a man's scrotum to render him infertile for six months. It might accurately be called a “temporary castration” technology. Read more about it here:http://www.naturalnews.com/028853_u… Now, the foundation has funded a new “sweat-triggered vaccine delivery” program based onnanoparticles penetrating human skin. The technology is describes as a way to “…develop nanoparticles that penetrate the skin through hair follicles and burst upon contact with human sweat to release vaccines.” The research grant money is going to Carlos Alberto Guzman of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Germany and Claus-Michael Lehr and Steffi Hansen of the Helmholtz-Institute for Pharmaceutical Research. These are both part of the Gates Foundation's involvement in the “Grand Challenges Explorations” program which claims to be working to “achieve major breakthroughs in globalhealth.” …breakthroughs like mass sterilization and nanoparticle vaccines that could be covertlyadministered even without your knowledge, it turns out. These nanoparticles could be used in aspray mist that's sprayed on to every person who walks through an airport security checkpoint, for example. Or it could be unleashed through the ventilation systems of corporate office buildings or public schools to vaccinate the masses. You wouldn't even know you were being vaccinated. This technology is potentially very dangerous to your health freedom. Using it, governments or drug companies (which are all the same thing these days) could create a vaccine skin creamthat's handed out and described as “sunscreen.” But when you put it on, you're actually vaccinating yourself as the nanoparticles burrow underneath your skin and burst, releasing foreign DNA inside your body. A history of covert mass medication But why would the government medicate people without their knowledge or consent, you ask? They already do it with water fluoridation. Fluoride is a drug, and regional and national governments all over the world are using the water supply as a way to deliver the fluoride drug to people whether they need it or not — and without any proper medical diagnosis or prescription. So if governments are already covertly medicating people with fluoride in the water supply, they've set the stage mass-vaccinating people through similar channels, such as the air supply in buildings. And thanks to Bill Gates, this nanotechnology needed to pull this off is now being funded. Is this really a “major breakthrough in global health?” I suppose it is if you believe in covert medicine where you dose people with drugs or vaccines without their knowledge. Western medicine is so offensive to rational people that it can't even operate out in the open. That's why it resorts to covert contamination of the water supply in order to force the public to swallow its drugs. Fluoride and covert medicine Oh, by the way, to anyone who argues that fluoride is not a drug, remember this: According to the FDA, any chemical substance that has a biological effect on the human body is, by definition, a drug. Therefore fluoride is a drug, too. Even more, fluoride is promoted with outlandish claims about “preventing cavities” by swallowing it, making it an “unapproved drug” according to the FDA. So how is it that this unapproved drug can be dripped into the water supply and forced upon hundreds of millions of people without a single diagnosis of fluoride deficiency or even a single prescription from a doctor? The answer is that western medicine is so arrogant that it does not believe it needs to follow any rules, regulations or laws. It is a system of “bully” medicine where drugs are shoved down your throat by being covertly dripped into the water supply without your consent. So why should we believe vaccines will be any different? If mainstream medicine can find a way to force every person to unknowingly be injected with vaccines, make no mistake they will pursue it! And such efforts will no doubt have the continued financial support of Bill Gates. Sources for this story include: The Daily Tell: http://www.thedailytell.com/2010/05.. . Travie McCoy Builds On ‘Billionaire’ With New Singles

Travie hopes ‘Need You’ and ‘We’ll Be Alright’ can have some of his first single’s success. By James Montgomery Travie McCoy Photo: MTV News When it comes to fatherhood, Travie McCoy is still learning the ropes. We’re not talking about the trappings of actual fatherhood, mind you — to the best of our knowledge, Travie doesn’t have any kids — but rather the bittersweet reality of raising a single up from infancy, watching it blossom into an massive hit and then having to send it on its way. ” ‘Billionaire’ is still kind of bubbling and doing its thing,” McCoy told MTV News last weekend at his VMA rehearsals in Los Angeles. “It’s kind of like my little son that’s all grown up, and it’s like, ‘All right, either go to school or go in the army. Do whatever you want now. You’re on your own.’ He’s kind of grown up and matured, and now I’m nurturing ‘Need You,’ which is the next single, you know?” But “Need You” is just one of his new projects. The video is still being cut, and so he’s also promoting “We’ll Be Alright,” the next U.K. single off his Lazarus album. The video for that song began making the rounds this week. And he’s not showing signs of slowing down any time soon. “[‘Need You’] is kind of one of the more serious, introspective songs on Lazarus, and visually, the video’s gonna have the same tone,” McCoy said. “And the next single in the U.K. is ‘We’ll Be Alright,’ and that video has already dropped. All my people in the U.K., I know you’re up on ‘We’ll Be Alright,’ [with] the Supergrass [sample]. Everything’s beautiful, man, and there’s still a few more after that, so I’m just gonna ride it.” And while he’s still working Lazarus, McCoy is also finding time to prep Papercut Chronicles II, the new record from Gym Class Heroes . The band is obviously his first love, but at the moment, it’s kind of difficult to fit it into his schedule. Fatherhood, it would seem, is a lot tougher than it appears. “We’re hustling and scrambling on PCC II. Every chance I get — I have little bits of time here and there — I’m spending it all on the next Gym Class record,” he said. “We’re about 16, 17 songs deep. It just keeps growing. … Matt [McGinley]’s on tour with me, playing drums, so we’re working on stuff together while we’re on tour, and [GCH’s] Disashi [Lumumba-Kasongo] and Eric [Roberts] are working on stuff together. The new stuff is so good, man. It’s outrageous.” Related Artists Travie McCoy
