Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are moving on. Not from each other. But from The Twilight Saga. Pattinson will star in Bel Ami later this year, the first trailer for which was released this week. Stewart, meanwhile, will update a classic fairy tale in Show White and the Huntsman , a possible trilogy that brought the cast together for a panel at Comic-Con this weekend. Snow White and the Huntsman Comic-Con Panel How would the actress describe her version of this well-known character? “She’s got this amazing ability to channel fear, things that people are typically very afraid of, into this really focused, really charged, driving energy,” Stewart said. “She’s also like the people’s leader and… truly doesn’t let her heart cloud her mind. [She] doesn’t let her mind get in the way of doing things she feels strongly about. Also, I get to have a sword and stuff.” Charlize Theron meanwhile, plays the Evil Queen and made us laugh with her description: “She’s dark. She’s a serial killer. I’m pretty much preparing to play a serial killer. I’m trying to ground it and make it something real. Watch out, Kristen.” Show White and the Huntsman comes out on June 1, 2012.
At Comic-Con, ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ cast preview costumes. By Terri Schwartz Kristen Stewart at 2011 Comic-Con Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images SAN DIEGO — Kristen Stewart may be the fairest of them all, but her Snow White that was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday (July 23) certainly doesn’t look like a damsel in distress. The “Twilight Saga” actress took to the stage to promote “Snow White and the Huntsman” in Hall H alongside her co-stars Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron and Sam Claflin, producer Joe Roth and director Rupert Sanders. Unfortunately, there was no footage to show since the flick doesn’t start shooting until next week, but the cast did bring some first looks at the costume design and general feel of the movie. Stewart’s Snow White doesn’t have a yellow and blue dress, and there’s not a bow to be seen. Instead, she was decked out in a full suit of armor and sported a giant shield with a white tree emblazoned on it. Her Prince Charming, played by Claflin, was similarly dressed, though he teased that his prince was not as sweet as he might have been in previous incarnations. As the titular Huntsman, Hemsworth looked a bit ragged and dirty with his axe and commoner’s clothes. When asked what it took to get him in costume for that, he joked that it required “about four or five of hours of rolling around in the mud, four days of drinking” and for the clothes to be dug up “from the backyard in Australia.” The evil stepmother, played by Theron, was as imposing as anyone could have been hoped for. Theron looked like a more badass version of the evil queen from the classic Disney cartoon, with a braided blonde coif on her head and a dagger in hand. “This, as a fable, she sort of just starts off as a bad person, so it was important to understand [why she is the way she is],” Theron explained about her character. “A lot of her circumstances will kind of bleed into her actions … She’s a serial killer; I’m pretty much preparing to play a serial killer.” This will be one of Stewart’s first roles outside of “The Twilight Saga,” and Roth said part of the draw of casting her was to be the one who helped her expand as an actress. For Stewart, it was the chance to play a tougher role. “It’s not a little girl sitting by a well with little tweety birds telling her what to do and where to go,” she said of her character. “[The costume] makes you feel kind of strong occasionally, sometimes, but I kind of feel tiny, my pinhead sticks out of these enormous things.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Snow White and the Huntsman.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Director Bill Condon tells Comic-Con crowd that Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson’s real-life growth parallels Bella and Edward. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “Breaking Dawn” Photo: Summit SAN DIEGO — Bill Condon was tasked with the difficult job of wrapping up the final two installments of “The Twilight Saga.” But judging by the glowing response to two brand-new “Breaking Dawn” clips at San Diego Comic-Con , so far it seems safe to bet he’s done a great job. But for the director, the task was as much about creating a finale that will please fans as it was making something that he could be proud of. During Thursday afternoon’s (July 21) “Breaking Dawn” panel in the Convention Center’s Hall H, Condon called the event “the most incredible test screening I will ever have,” because it was the first time he would be hearing fans’ reactions to part one of the last two “Twilight” movies. “It’s amazing in this movie how much happens,” Condon told the Comic-Con audience. “Bella’s getting married or Bella’s going to make love for the first time. People have been waiting for these moments, and everyone’s imagined them, so you do want to get to the essence of what people might want but you can only do it the way, ultimately, you think is the most beautiful or the most powerful.” “Twilight” fans’ possible reactions to a few scenes in particular have Condon feeling nervous, he admitted. “There are big scenes — the childbirth — that you just want to make sure that it’s as powerful and as complete as it could be,” he said. It helps that his two stars, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, have come into their own as actors over the course of the movies. Condon called Stewart “the real deal,” while revealing that Pattinson was able to bring “more of himself” to the role of Edward Cullen in “Breaking Dawn” then he had in the previous installments. “They’re growing up. There was a year gap between the making of this movie and the last one, [‘Eclipse’], so they’re just a lot more comfortable in themselves,” Condon explained. “I keep saying it’s like ‘Twilight Grows Up.’ It’s adult concerns: they’re married now, it’s like they’re going to have a kid, it’s that kind of stuff. You could see that it’s connecting more to what their lives were like now than if they were still playing high school kids, because they’re not high school kids anymore.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘You have to have some tantric breathing and stuff,’ he jokes to MTV News at Comic-Con. By Ryan J. Downey, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson at the San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday Photo: Getty Images SAN DIEGO — What kind of preparation went into the steamy love scenes in ” The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part I “? Well, if Robert Pattinson is to be believed, there was very little. “You just get lubed up and jump right into it!” he proclaimed to MTV News while backstage at San Diego Comic-Con shortly after making an appearance on a panel with his “Breaking Dawn” castmates and director Bill Condon. The group answered questions from Comic-Con attendees and treated them to footage from the upcoming flick, which is the second-to-last film adaptation in the epic saga. Fan familiarity with Stephanie Meyer’s “Twilight” novels means anticipation has been high for several elements of “Breaking Dawn,” including a wedding, a birth and perhaps the most anticipated of all: the sex scenes. Smiling broadly, RPattz added: “You have to have some tantric breathing and stuff.” All joking aside, it was pretty clear once Pattinson continued talking that there was, in fact, a bit of planning put into the onscreen depiction of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan getting down to some romantic business. “Everyone always says it about sex scenes in movies — it’s really awkward and blah, blah, blah — but it is!” he pointed out. Ultimately, he likened it to a popular board game. “You’re playing Twister,” Pattinson deadpanned. With “Twilight” mania still in full swing, it might be hard for moviegoers to imagine seeing the chemistry between Pattinson and Kristen Stewart re-created within the context of different characters in another story, but that doesn’t mean Pattinson wouldn’t be up for re-teaming with her in a non-“Twilight” film. “I’d love to. Definitely,” he told us without hesitation. “I don’t know how audiences would respond to it or whatever, [but] I’d love to.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘I don’t want to say it felt like a real wedding, but it definitely felt like a ceremony, ‘ she tells MTV News at Comic-Con. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” Photo: Andrew Cooper/ Summit Entertainment SAN DIEGO — For her third visit to San Diego Comic-Con , Kristen Stewart was happy to report to MTV News about getting married and giving birth — onscreen, that is. While “The Twilight Saga” star was quick to specify that it was Mr. Cullen she shared these milestones with, not rumored beau Robert Pattinson, she spilled the beans about filming the hotly anticipated wedding scene in “Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” “I think the most surreal experience was getting married,” Stewart said. “It was right at the bitter end. I was amping up to it the entire time. They left me on my toes for six months. And then it was just sort of very cathartic to see the entire cast in the pews and everyone excited to see how it was all going to go down. “It had a kind of feel of everyone kind of excited to see how it’s all going to go down,” she continued. “I don’t want to say it felt like a real wedding, but it definitely felt like a ceremony. It definitely felt ceremonial and celebratory.” This is the first time Stewart has had an opportunity to get in on the action with the boys of “Twilight,” and from what we’ve heard, she’s held her own against them. Stewart especially got to face off against Taylor Lautner, which she said was a lot of fun. “Taylor’s funny about it too. He’s like, ‘You’re so cute,’ ” Stewart said. “I think he was a little more intimidated then he led on. Maybe not.” “Breaking Dawn” isn’t the only movie Stewart is promoting at Comic-Con this year. She also has “Snow White and the Huntsman,” which has its panel Saturday. Stewart shared her enthusiasm about the movie without giving too much away about the plot. “I am so, so excited. We’re in pre-production right now. I think [Snow White] represents so much that I can’t wait to get across to the entire world,” she said. “Rupert [Sanders], the director, we’re so in the middle of forming the story and getting into it that it’s hard for me to talk about. I mean, I’m training. I’m riding horses all the time.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘Twilight’ star says at Comic-Con 2011 that scene was most challenging of entire series. By Terri Schwartz Taylor Lautner in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” Photo: Summit SAN DIEGO — There are many scenes in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” that fans have been anticipating, from the wedding scene to the honeymoon to the much-hyped birthing scene. But the moment star Taylor Lautner most dreaded came after all of them and involved him finding his soulmate in the body of a newborn baby — but not in a weird way, if that’s possible. At least, not entirely. And since the birthing scene is going to require a lot of CGI before the product is finished, Lautner wasn’t even able to act off another person while he “imprinted.” “I was given an X on a wall,” Lautner explained at San Diego Comic-Con . “I don’t know what I would have wanted [instead]; there isn’t any ideal situation here.” In the book, Lautner’s character, Jacob Black, plans on killing the child that nearly killed his best friend and major crush, Bella (played by Kristen Stewart). But upon seeing the baby in front of him, he imprints on the little girl and discovers that she is the woman he will spend the rest of his life loving, and his murderous purpose disappears. Lautner explained his experience filming the scene, saying, “I had to walk into the room with the intention of killing this baby and then stop, twist and imprint on it, whatever that means.” Co-star Robert Pattinson, laughing out loud, exclaimed, “That sounds amazing! Jacob’s secrets revealed.” Lautner explained that the scene was the most challenging he filmed during the entire series, and it took a lot of preparation to get ready for it. “I spent a lot of time talking to [director] Bill [Condon] and to [author] Stephenie [Meyer] and asking, ‘What exactly does imprinting even look like?’ ” he said. “It was tough, so I sure hope it comes across alright.” Check out everything we’ve got on For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . They are a dandy bunch. These butch woodsmen are bearded, armored, and dressed for winter! Looks a little like a catalog shoot for a post-apocalyptic Eddie Bauer.
