The first trailer for The Martian hit the web today, and the three-minute clip quickly became a trending topic on social media. You may have spotted it in your newsfeed and wondered why a generically-titled space thriller that won't be released until November is getting so much hype. The answer is simple: The film is based on a beloved bestseller by Andy Weir, and The trailer looks freakin' badass. It also doesn't hurt that The Martian is directed by Ridley Scott and stars…well, just about everybody. (Jeff Daniels, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Donald Glover, Sean “Don't Call Me Ned Stark ” Bean, Kate Mara, and many others.) Yes, it's Matt Damon in space again (a la the 2013 crap-fest Elysium ), but this time the movie has a promising premise and one of the great action movie directors of all-time at the helm (unlike the 2013 crap-fest Elysium). It's a little early for reviews, but we're gonna go out on a limb and say this might be the best thing Matt Damon has done since he decided to let Ben Affleck crash at his house to escape his marital troubles. Praise doesn't get much higher than that.

Let it be known that what follows is no April Fool’s joke. In fact, this is serious. Blockbuster mega-stars Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig are featuring in none other than – wait for it – a Lifetime movie. Though we aren’t sure how serious the tone of the movie will be, sources confirm the duo will star in the forthcoming Lifetime movie titled A Deadly Adoption. The film will be kicking off the 25th anniversary of Lifetime’s made-for-tv genre. There is chatter that the film could have both a serious and campy edge. Ferrell and Wiig star as a couple hoping to adopt a woman’s unborn baby (Jessica Lowndes of 90210 ). Of course, things go awry. And we are hoping it does so in true Ferrell and Wiig style when the film, slated for a summer premiere on Lifetime, arrives. Will Ferrell is apparently a fan of the made-for-TV genre and wants to celebrate it with his own film. He will serve as its executive producer along with Adam McKay. The Hollywood Reporter revealed today that Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy will be cracking wise and blasting ghouls in the next installment of the iconic franchise. McCarthy and Wiig both worked with director Paul Feig on the 2011 hit Bridesmaids. McKinnon and Jones are two of the most buzzed-about standouts from the current SNL cast. The announcement of the cast is a major step forward for a film that’s been mired in development hell for several years.
