Sean Spicer, White House: Pissed Over Melissa McCarthy Impression

Following the latest episode of Saturday Night Live, Donald Trump remained unusually quiet on Twitter. He didn’t lambaste Alec Baldwin for making him look like a Steve Bannon puppet who lacks critical information about the world and who cannot control his emotions. Nor did the President make any untrue statements about the show’s ratings since he took office. Does this mean Trump was happy with Baldwin’s impression for a change? Or that he missed the Kristen-Stewart hosted installment ? Nope and nope. According to Politico, it actually means the Commander-in-Chief was angrier and more embarrassed by the show than ever before. Specifically, Trump, Sean Spicer and other White House officials were taken aback by Melissa McCarthy’s hilarious, spot-on impression of the Press Secretary. As the third full skit of the night, McCarthy came out on stage – looking eerily similar to Spicer – and played the spokesman as a belligerent, gum-chewing, water gun-toting blowhard who simply hates every member of the press. When asked about the impression by Extra, Spicer tried to laugh it off. He said McCarthy “needs to slow down on the gum chewing” because there were “way too many pieces in there,” adding that the actress “could dial [it] back” next time. We somehow doubt that will happen. But Politico says this impersonation is not being taken lightly inside the White House. The issue is less how McCarthy made Spicer look like an egomaniacal control freak and more that she made him look “weak,” simply because she’s a woman. “Trump doesn’t like his people to look weak,” a top Trump donor tells the site . Politico explains that the “unflattering send-up by a female comedian was not considered helpful for Spicer’s longevity in the grueling, high-profile job.” Spicer had already been under fire for the way he dressed (from Trump) and for the way he treats the media as an enemy combatant (from the public). He doesn’t appear to be long for this job, which probably makes him lucky. In a phone interview on Monday afternoon, Spicer tried to act all cool and distant. “I would much rather have the focus be on the president’s agenda and the success he’s having,” he told reporters, adding: “That’s all I’m saying on it.” When pressed about what his own feelings regarding the skit, however, he demurred. “It doesn’t really matter what I think,” he replied. Trump, of course, has laid into Saturday Night Live after nearly every episode this season. He says the show is terrible, mean-spirited, biased and unpopular. The President and Baldwin have gone back and forth often on Twitter, with the leader of the free world somehow unaware of how small and petty and pathetic this makes him seem. GoDaddy Super Bowl Commercial Sparks Outrage: Find Out Why

Were you offended by GoDaddy Super Bowl commercials of the past? The ones where Danica Patrick and other women pretty much just flaunt their hotness the entire time?  Well… you ain’t seen anything ridiculously appalling yet! GoDaddy Super Bowl Ad The website-based company has unveiled its latest Super Bowl ad and it’s clearly a take on last year’s Bud Light puppy commercial . A really terrible take, that is. The spot features a young dog falling off the back of a truck and then making a long, difficult journey back home. Once the owners see that he’s made his way back, they are overjoyed with relief…because they just sold him online using a GoDaddy powered website. Seriously! In response to the commercial – which is cruel, unfunny and makes a mockery out of actual puppy mills – a petition has gone up on Change.org to have the video pulled. It reads: “Whether or not this was meant to be satirical, it’s offensive. Essentially, Go Daddy is encouraging private breeding/puppy mills while shelter animals wait patiently for their forever homes or worse – to be euthanized. They are also encouraging purchasing an animal online; the animal could be sold to someone who runs a fighting ring, someone who abuses animals, or to someone who cannot adequately care for the animal. Animal rights are no laughing matter and to portray them as such is cruel and irresponsible. Among other Super Bowl ads that have been released early, one features Kim Kardashian and another features Charlotte McKinney . 31 Crazy Commercials We Love (or Love to Hate, or Just Hate) 1. Kate Upton Hot Pockets Commercial Hot Pockets are the perfect snack. Even Kate Upton knows that! Check out this awesome commercial starring her, Snoop Dogg, Larry King, and Bow Wow.

Ghostbusters 3 Cast: Revealed!

Who ya gonna call? Apparently, some of the funniest women in comedy! Yes, it’ll be hard to beat the dream team of Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson, but if anyone’s up to the task, it’s certainly the four women who will be strapping on their proton packs for the highly-anticipated Ghostbusters 3 .  The Hollywood Reporter revealed today that Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy will be cracking wise and blasting ghouls in the next installment of the iconic franchise. McCarthy and Wiig both worked with director Paul Feig on the 2011 hit Bridesmaids. McKinnon and Jones are two of the most buzzed-about standouts from the current SNL cast. (If you’ve never seen McKinnon’s flawless Justin Bieber impression , click on that link ASAP.) This will be the first major film role for both women. The announcement of the cast is a major step forward for a film that’s been mired in development hell for several years. It was originally to serve as a straightforward sequel starring the original cast, but director Ivan Reitman dropped out after the death of Ramis last year. Murray, Aykroyd and Hudson followed suit shortly thereafter. When Feig announced his intention to reboot the franchise with an all-female cast, some fans were skeptical. (Hudson stated flat-out that he doesn’t think it’ll work). But after the announcement of a cast like this we can’t imagine that many fans aren’t eagerly anticipating what’s sure to be a different (and hilarious) take on four beloved characters. 36 Memorable Movie Posters 1. Gone Girl Poster Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike star in Gone Girl. The latter earned an Oscar nomination for her role.

Jonathan Winters’ Death (1925-2013): Watch His Classic ‘It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad World’ Performance

Jonathan Winters was not known for his acting. The brilliant improvisational comic, who died of natural causes at the age of 87 on Thursday, did not do his best work when he was tied to a script.  As the  New York Times ‘ obituary of Winters noted,  “’Jonny works best out of instant panic,’ one of his television writers in the 1960s said. He thrived when he could ad-lib, fielding unexpected questions or pursuing spontaneous flights of fancy. In other words, he made a brilliant guest, firing comedy in short bursts, but a problematic host or actor.” And yet, it’s impossible to consider the Dayton, OH-born Winters’ career without this memorably funny performance in It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad World .  Dialogue was besides the point in the clip below, which made the conditions optimal for Winters to use his ferocious talent for physical comedy to great effect. Do you think there are any contemporary actors capable of matching Winters here?   Melissa McCarthy , could do it, for sure, and  Will Ferrell , too, but who else? Melissa McCarthy Isn’t Too Jazzed About a Wiig-Less Bridesmaids 2, Either

For many fans a Bridesmaids sequel moving forward without star Kristen Wiig is nearly unthinkable, and that goes for would-be sequel star Melissa McCarthy . E! Online’s Marc Malkin asked McCarthy if she’d be in without Wiig at last weekend’s Palm Springs International Film Festival. “God, I wouldn’t want to,” she said. “I would never want to. I think it’s a terrible idea…I don’t [know] anything about it,” she said. “But I know that nobody wants to do it unless it’s great. If it is, I will show up wherever those ladies are.” Those ladies — as in, all the Bridesmaids ladies? That’s solidarity, sister. [ E! Online ]

My Favorite Scene: Tarsem Finds Common Ground Between Man Bites Dog and an Episode of Cops

This week, Movieline’s favorite honey badger of directors , Tarsem ( The Fall, The Cell ), unveils his spin on Greek mythology in Immortals , a fantasy actioner that blends artistic influences as vast and varied as Caravaggio, classics, and Henry Cavill’s abs. So who better to invite to a round of My Favorite Scene than the visionary filmmaker, who managed to pinpoint the uncanny cinematic parallels between the 1992 Belgian mockumentary Man Bites Dog , a Cannes Film Festival awardee, and that one episode from the “brilliant” first season of COPS .
