‘Hunger Games’ Star Jennifer Lawrence: Real-Life Hero

Actress rushes to help a young woman lying in her lawn Monday. By Audrey Cook Jennifer Lawrence Assisting A Fainting Woman Outside Her L.A. Apartment Complex Photo: Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t just rush to action on the big screen. The “Hunger Games” starlet was walking her dog outside her L.A. apartment complex Monday when she stumbled upon a young woman lying on her back on the lawn. According to X17 , Lawrence raced over to help the young woman while someone nearby called the paramedics. A photographer on the scene told the photo agency, “Jennifer ran outside her apartment when she heard a girl scream and immediately called 911. When the EMT arrived, she stayed to make sure everything was OK. She was really scared for the girl.” The Santa Monica Police Department told TMZ , “The young lady who collapsed was a juvenile and was part of a group that was together,” adding that “alcohol may have played a role in the incident.” Lawrence, sporting a casual look in gray sweatpants and a black tank top, got on the ground to assist the woman and stayed by her side until paramedics arrived. It’s unclear why the woman was in front of Lawrence’s property, but paramedics treated the unidentified woman on the scene, and she was then cleared to leave. Lawrence isn’t the only celebrity who has played superhero recently: Patrick Dempsey came to the rescue a little less than two months ago, saving a teenager who crashed his car outside the “Grey’s Anatomy” star’s house. Lawrence is gearing up to reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen in the “Hunger Games” sequel “Catching Fire,” slated to hit theaters in November 2013. Would you rush outside to help an injured stranger if you found them on your property? Share your thoughts!

How Did Jennifer Lawrence Get An Arrow In The Head?

Get an exclusive first look at ‘Hunger Games’ star’s MTV Movie Awards appearance; short film producer Jordan Rubin fills us in! By Kara Warner Photo: MTV That old adage about a picture being worth a thousand words is particularly appropriate for this sneak peek of “Hunger Games” star Jennifer Lawrence’s appearance in a short film set to debut during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday (June 3). The photo clearly shows Lawrence with an arrow through her head, and given her unimpressed, annoyed expression when the pic was snapped, she doesn’t look too pleased about the situation. But not to worry: The arrow through her head is all for the sake of Movie Awards comedy, for which Lawrence was totally game. MTV News recently caught up with Movie Awards short film producer Jordan Rubin to get the behind-the-scenes scoop about how Lawrence came to be involved. “The idea generated from this year being the year of archery,” Rubin said. “Archery has really come back in a big way, so it seemed like a good thing to do as a jumping-off point for some comedy. “You have ‘The Hunger Games,’ Jeremy Renner [as Hawkeye] in ‘Avengers,’ ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘Snow White and the Huntsman,’ also ‘Brave’ is coming out,” Rubin added. “It’s good comedy fodder, and Jen totally got it. We were so happy she made time.” According to Rubin, the short film revolves around an archery coach who is not necessarily liked by a lot of people in the industry. It features Joel McHale and a cameo from Lawrence. “[Lawrence] was really funny and gave us a lot of different options and was great at the comedy,” Rubin said. It’s Official: Francis Lawrence to Direct Catching Fire

Roughly two weeks after Gary Ross’s departure from and Francis Lawrence’s rumored attachment to Catching Fire , Lionsgate has officially announced Lawrence as its man to direct its mega-anticipated Hunger Games sequel . “From the very beginning of this brilliant trilogy’s journey from page to screen, our first priority has been to stay true to the heart and soul of Suzanne Collins’ powerful stories,” producer Nina Jacobson said in a statement just over the transom at Movieline HQ. “From my first conversation with Francis, I knew he would make a great partner for both me and Suzanne. His passion for Catching Fire and inspired ideas for a faithful adaptation make him the perfect director for this movie. I know this will be a wonderful collaboration and I cannot wait to get started.” Added Lawrence: “It is truly an honor and a privilege to bring Catching Fire , the second chapter of Suzanne’s beloved trilogy, to the big screen. I fell in love with the characters, the themes and the world she created and this chapter opens all of these elements up in such a thrilling, emotional and surprising way. I can’t wait to dive right into it and bring this chapter to life along with the truly superb cast and filmmakers involved.” Mazel tov! And get to work : Catching Fire opens November 22, 2013. Director Francis Lawrence Offered Hunger Games Sequel Catching Fire

Well, it looks like Lionsgate has picked their pony in the Catching Fire directing race ; I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence has reportedly been offered the job to helm the Hunger Games sequel, which is set to start filming on a tight schedule this August. Lawrence has three features under his belt, in addition to music videos for the likes of J. Lo and Britney Spears; he most recently directed Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon in Water for Elephants (but also made 2005’s Constantine ). Lawrence is said to have gotten the offer over Moneyball ‘s Bennett Miller, who Deadline reports was “very interested” in the gig but wanted to take time to film his Foxcatcher first. So what is there to say about Lionsgate’s choice? At least Lawrence has experience handling visual effects, building devastated but slick near-futuristic worlds, and working with teen heartthrobs. And hey, he won a Grammy (for directing Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” video)! So there’s that. If Katniss Everdeen finds herself besieged in a techno bathhouse in the Simon Beaufoy-penned sequel, he’ll know what to do. And hey, maybe he can get Gaga to play Johanna Mason… Catching Fire is already set for release for November 22, 2013. Muse away on the Lawrence hire in the comments below! [ Deadline ]
