Georgia Cop And Police Chief Sued After Beaten Pregnant Woman Suffers Miscarriage Via DailyMail A Georgia police officer beat a pregnant woman so hard that she ended up having a miscarriage because he did not like the ‘tone’ she was speaking in, a new lawsuit has alleged. In the $50,000-plus suit, Kenya Harris, says she was called to Albany Police Department (APD) in West Oglethorpe Boulevard in May 2011 after her young son was arrested on unspecified charges. But after waiting for five hours, she informed officer Ryan Jenkins that she had other children to take care of at home and needed to leave. However, Jenkins reportedly reacted in a ‘hostile’ manner. He ‘stated that he did not appreciate the tone in which she was communicating with him, and further stated that if she continued he would take her head and “put it to the floor”,’ the suit says. Shortly after, Harris tried again to explain that she needed to leave – at which point, Jenkins followed through on his threat with the compliance of another officer, Richard Brown Jr, it is claimed. Jenkins reportedly grabbed the expectant mother by the neck, before ‘slamming her to the ground’, causing her to fall unconscious. When she woke up, Jenkins was sitting on her, the suit states. ‘Defendant Officer Jenkins, without provocation, grabbed plaintiff, who weighs less than one hundred twenty (120) pounds, by her neck and slammed her to the ground,’ it reads. Guess this cop feared that this 120 pound pregnant woman was going to take his life… After making bail the next day, Harris traveled to Phoebe Convenient Care in Dawson Road, where she discovered she had suffered a miscarriage due to the beating, the suit states. She was also treated for ‘severe physical’ injuries, including a knee contusion, neck spasms, muscle pain and bruising to her body, the document, filed in Federal Court, claims. Now, Harris is suing Jenkins and Brown, as well as Police Chief John Proctor, for the excessive force, assault, battery and emotional distress that she allegedly suffered at the department. Hope she sees every red cent. Image via Shutterstock
Hoes be winnin’ Via ScoopBlog (Dallas News) On Christmas Eve, a U.S. district judge in Dallas left a little something extra under the tree for some 190 women who spent time dancing in an all-nude Northwest Dallas strip club: a signed settlement worth $2.3 million, minus a sizable chunk of attorneys’ fees. The small pile of money is the result of a three-year legal battle over that age-old question: Are strippers full-time employees deserving of proper wages or just transient part-timers — independent contractors — dancing for tips? The Dallas case, involving a strip club off Royal Lane and Stemmons Freeway that the city of Dallas is now trying to close altogether, ended like most of the lawsuits filed over strip-club wages in recent years — with the dancers collecting a settlement in the millions, but the club continuing to conduct business as usual. “The clubs are losing these lawsuits all over the country,” says Houston attorney Galvin Kennedy, who filed the initial lawsuit, “but they keep doing the same thing.” Nevertheless, he says, the settlement is “good news for these ladies.” In October 2011, three women — Erica Jones, Crystal Winter and Selisha Brooks — sued the statewide chain Jaguars Gold Club and its owner, Dallas-based Bryan Foster. (The chain was sold, but Foster continues to operate the single Jaguars Dallas on Stemmons.) The women, who danced for tips shared with DJs and house moms and managers and had to pay just to get in the door, said they were employees working far more than 40-hour work weeks deserving of a minimum wage and overtime under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act. Jaguars, said the initial complaint, “refuse[d] to compensate them whatsoever for any hours worked. Plaintiffs’ only compensation is in the form of tips from club patrons. Moreover, Plaintiffs are required to divide their tips with [club owners] and other employees who do not customarily receive tips.” Jaguars, like most strip clubs, disagreed, insisting they were no more than contract laborers. Said Jaguars’ attorneys, the dancers were “permitted to perform … under various forms of agreements with various entities. And, they claimed, “no performer was required, or did perform in excess of 40 hours per week.” Almost immediately after the three women filed their suit, things got ugly. According to an emergency motion filed in December 2011, Jaguars’ owners told dancers to “sign a contract that waived their right to join this lawsuit” lest they lose their spot on the main stage. When one of the entertainers, Claudia Rede, refused to sign the document,” says the document filed in federal court, “Defendants made good on their threats and fired her on the spot.” Hoes, hoes, hoes! Sources connected to Chris tell TMZ … the guy who Chris punched in Washington D.C. a year ago just settled his civil lawsuit against Chris. We’re told the singer anted up around $100,000. You’ll recall … Chris dodged a major bullet with the help of his lawyer Mark Geragos by striking a plea deal in the criminal case. He avoided probation, jail and fines by pleading guilty to simple assault. As for the second case … TMZ broke the story Chris got into an insane fight at a West Hollywood recording studio in January with Frank Ocean’s posse. Frank’s cousin sued Chris for $3 million. We’ve learned the case just settled for UNDER $20K. That was pretty cheap, all things considered. We thought he was definitely gonna have to part ways with a few hundred grand. Hope he tips his lawyer. Image via Instagram

We were kinda wondering how the hell Adele Givens had room to talk about Sheryl Underwood… Adele Givens Says Sheryl Underwood Lied About Queens Of Comedy Conference Call Now Adele says that call never took place and the creator of “Queens of Comedy” says Underwood was never up for the job! According to Humor Mill Magazine: Last week Thursday during their ‘deepest, darkest secrets week’ where each host of The Talk delivers a dark secret, comedian and host Sheryl Underwood revealed something that she stated she never spoke aloud publicly; Underwood revealed that back in the 1990′s, she was up for a part on The Queens of Comedy tour, ( Walter Latham’s female spin-off of The Kings of Comedy ) and she stated before she had a chance to accept the role, she overheard three stars of the show talking trash about her on a conference call. Underwood said Laura Hayes, Adele Givens and Sommore were trash talking her comedic abilities, her appearance and more without realizing she was on the line listening. Underwood stated she later called show creator Latham and told him she didn’t think the part would be the right fit for her. Underwood even stated that she has worked with Hayes and Givens since the incident, but up until now, the three women did not know that she overheard the phone call. After revealing her secret, Underwood insisted that she’s not angry or upset at her peers over the phone call that she happened upon 20 years ago. “I decided instead of being angry and vengeful, I took the truth and made myself even better,” she said. At that time, Laura Hayes, Adele Givens and Sommore hadn’t commented on Underwood’s story, until now. We just had a conversation with Givens about the interview because this morning on The Rickey Smiley Show , Givens was on the show disputing what had happened, and Walter Latham released a statement that was read on air by Smiley. According to the statement read by Latham, Underwood was never even invited by him to become part of the show. According to Givens, Underwood’s statement is a “blatant lie” and as a matter of fact “the conversation never happened because we were never on a conference call together discussing Sheryl”. This powerful statement was followed by Givens revealing to us that she is in the process of seeking legal representation because she has plans to sue Underwood, CBS and The Talk for defamation of character and anything else that her legal team would advise to her that would apply. Well somebody is lying. Who do you believe? WENN
Producers don’t love these hoes … ANTM Winner Angelea Preston Suing Producers For Stripping Her Of Crown According to TMZ reports : An “America’s Next Top Model” contestant says producers snatched her crown AFTER she won it fair and square, because they found out … she used to be an escort. Angelea Preston says things started to go South right before she taped the finale of the All-Star season in 2011. According to a lawsuit she’s filing … Preston told producers, confidentially, prior to filming the season she had been an escort for about a year — and that spread like wildfire to the rest of the cast and crew. After the finale was taped — and Preston had won the grand prize — she says a casting director called and grilled her about the whole escort business. In the suit, Preston says she admitted it, but insists she was a legal escort and not a prostitute. Despite this, Preston was told she had violated her contract and could not be the winner. Preston says her pay-for-play days were well behind her when she shot the All-Star season, so therefore she did NOT break the contract. She says losing the title cost her a bunch of Vogue spreads, and a $100,000 CoverGirl deal. She’s suing producers, networks, and studios for breach of contract and says she suffered at least $3 million in damages. Why would she even admit that she was an escort? Sounds like TMI if you ask us. We’re pretty sure there is some legal mumbo-jumbo in that contract that the producers will try to lean on the validate their case. Do you think Angelea deserves to lose her title for being an “escort”? Image via THPhoto
