Hackers have waged war on banks that target WikiLeaks

Yesterday we reported that the Swiss bank PostFinance froze WikiLeaks account which held 31,000 euros for Julian Assange's defense fund. A few hours later the bank's website crashed as a result of an attack by hackers that go by the name of Anon_Operation on Twitter. They have been running “Operation: Payback” which they say is an ongoing campaign by [them] against major anti-piracy groups. The cyber war is now definitely on as PostFinance is back up an running but the hackers' site The AnonOps.net is currently down due to heavy DDoS attacks.

Why Wikileaks is not the Enemy

By David P Shirk Over the news there has been much debate on the legal and moral ramifications caused by the whistleblowers and the companies like wiki-leaks that disseminated the information from them. Yet just like most things political, the idea behind it is overlooked. The nay-sayers on the issue who believe that wikileakes should be prosecuted as a terrorist organization, and that people like Bradley Manning should be held for treason (or at the very least for breaking his confidentiality agreement), do so on the grounds that it is necessary to maintain national security. Those like Holder typically acknowledge the fact that not only does the government lie and spin stories to obtain a certain response, but then take advantage of the ensuing actions. These lies and spin stories are kept secret from the American people on the grounds that it would damage our national security. Yet do lies and spin stories make a nation secure? I would think 9-11 proved the answer is no. I would think that making our entire nation appear to be made of lying cheaters would also indicate no. So why do they do it? In a nation where it is believed that the government only acts within the interest of the people paints the real picture though. For the most part, Americans elect their leaders using the best knowledge they have to decide what policy is best for our country. So if the truth is buried out of sight from the eye of the people, how on earth can they make an intelligent vote? They can’t. All they can do is act on the knowledge they are given or is available. This makes it very clear that the government either believes that Americans are to stupid to handle the truth, or that they will maintain their power and control over the people at all costs. In the first case we are looked at as nothing amore than fools, and in the second, as nothing more than subjects under their guidance. Either way it is not conducive to the ideals of liberty, freedom, or prosperity. Quite the opposite in fact. If government is indeed elected by the people, then keeping them in the dark as to the reality of any policy the government takes only ensures that two types of people will get elected. Those who seek to control others, and those whose ignorance appeals to the people. Both depend on a dependency of the people on the government to keep them informed as to the actions the government takes. When the government is not truthful or honest with its people, then the cycle can only continue. So it is of no surprise at all that wikileaks and other whistleblowers are being hounded by the government. Take Manning for example. He saw something that he knew damn well was not right. He knew that those in charge would not do anything about it as they were the ones enacting the evils. So he appealed to the only audience he thought would do the right thing – the American people. Surely the killing of unarmed children and civilians would set them into a frenzy to do something. Yet nothing did, and how sick is that? People judge Manning as a traitor and wikileaks as a terrorist organization because that’s what the news and government tells them to think. This is not only the height of the abuse of power, but a clear picture as to why the American people need to wise up. It is also most disturbing that they would make such charges against people who try to do the right thing, while at the same time, ignoring the blatant fact that those who they trust with their security and defense are killing, lying, torturing, and manipulating not only foreign markets but their governments as well. Then they dare call Manning a traitor and wikileaks the terrorists! People often criticize the Nazi’s for allowing Hitler into power and commit atrocities and spreading propaganda – sure would be nice if they held their own government as responsible for such things as oppose to supporting it. http://www.peacefreedomprosperity.com/?p=3800 added by: shanklinmike

The United States imprisons it’s own

With nearly 25% of the world's inmate population, who says the United States doesn't have political prisoners? Excerpt: “Indeed, the United States leads the world in producing prisoners, a reflection of a relatively recent and now entirely distinctive American approach to crime and punishment. Americans are locked up for crimes — from writing bad checks to using drugs — that would rarely produce prison sentences in other countries. And in particular they are kept incarcerated far longer than prisoners in other nations.” How is this helpful to society? Why doesn't Americans and politicians take a good hard look at this issue? Coupled with an extremely dysfunctional judicial system populated largely by opportunistic prosecutors who believe they are empowered to wield the hand of God play the role of Judge, jury and executioner over people's lives, it's little wonder we incarcerate so many. In my own experiences with the judicial system I can tell you with NO uncertainty the legal system has no interest in “truth”, “right” or “wrong”. The judicial system executes sloppily prosecuted people, knowing full well the inadequacies of the process. Prosecutions and executions sought and pushed forward by prosecutors who decided for themselves who was guilty, ignorant of their own weaknesses, failings, projections and externalization. Our nation shoots itself in not just the foot, but the leg and the abdomen. Our judicial system's conduct is terminal and fatal to our society. Need we look at the actions of the Supreme Court allowing corporations the buying of judges, politicians and political favorable agendas and legislation AT the expense of the electorate? That you believe you haven't been touched by the dysfunction of the judicial system is no excuse for ignorance or worse yet, indifference to the violations and victimization's of the judicial system on the American people. Not convinced? Just think about it. Why does the US's 5% of the world's population house nearly 25% of the worlds prisoner population and at what expense to you financially in the form of taxes? At what expense to society to loose so many of it's primarily male population? What is a country more interested in prosecuting and jailing it's people than helping them? More interesting facts: “Children of incarcerated parents have increased risk of anxiety, depression, aggression, truancy, attention disorders and poor scholastic performance.” I met a homeless young man who had been incarcerated for 3 days not paying a bus fee of less than $5.00. And still more interesting facts: “Children of incarcerated parents have increased risk of anxiety, depression, aggression, truancy, attention disorders and poor scholastic performance.” Would you rather the state and Federal Government paid for the bus fare and not incarcerated the young man or waste some $250.00 a day for his incarceration plus court costs? Who makes decisions like this? Is it crazy or has the legal and judicial system itself become the monster? Again, is an unpaid bus fare of less than $5.00 worth blowing more than $600.00 of American tax payer money? Is this what “being tough on crime is”? That's a resounding: YES! Did the people who conduct our legal and judicial system in this way go to college? Are they idiots? Are they intentionally trying to destroy America or are they just really really stupid? Fact 1: Not everyone in prison is guilty. Fact 2: Not everyone accused is guilty. Personally, I can't believe a civilized society would conduct itself so self-destructive and so oblivious to the Obvious! http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/23/us/23prison.html added by: VoyagerFilms

T.I. ‘Sick And Tired’ Of Being In And Out Of Prison

‘This experience is truly a pain I have never felt before,’ rapper says in new prison-penned letter. By Mawuse Ziegbe T.I. Photo: Shareif Ziyadat/ FilmMagic T.I.’s latest prison bid is apparently changing the MC’s perspective on getting locked up. Tip was hauled back to jail earlier this month to kick off his second stint behind bars in a year after he violated his probation by getting arrested on a drug charge in Los Angeles in September. In a message posted on the Atlanta spitter’s website Thursday (November 18), the trap star, who has a litany of arrests and periods of incarceration that pre-date his chart-busting hip-hop career, described his current prison bid as a turning point in his history with the penal system. “This experience is truly a pain I have never felt before and that’s saying a lot for a n—a who’s been down locked up as many times as I have,” Tip wrote. “I see this as a real ass whoopin’. The kind you don’t just go back outside to play afterwards. You take ya ass to bed and don’t come out of your room until it’s time to go to school.” T.I. also said that switching between life as a free man and an inmate was getting old. “I don’t know what effect this will have on my life moving forward but I’m certainly sick and mother f—ing tired of going to jail, juve, prison, the pen, correctional facilities or whatever else you want to call it,” he said. “I’d have been better off doing a 5-10 year bid one time than going in time and time again for days, weeks and months for the last 15 years of my life.” Even though his legal run-ins have “been a long road,” T.I. maintained that “I’m still standing, barely, but nevertheless still standing.” He also said that instead of looking to others for inspiration and encouragement, he’s going to turn inward for a sense of purpose. “At one time I thought my motivation for continuing was for my fans, my partna Philant, my pops, my grandmama, even for the haters or the people I let down. But nah… I got to do this sh– for me!!!” he said. “I’ll be God damned if I’ve come all this way and made it through so much hell to let it go down like this! F— that! If an hour in the dark is worth a second in the sun then pass me my mother—-in’ shades cause I’m ready to cash my darkest hours in…ASAP!!!” The MC reflected on his lack of a consistent and positive father figure in his life as a factor in his development as a young man, saying, “My mother and grandparents did the best they could but I found my manhood in the trap and in prison systems.” The “Get Back Up” MC then promised that his children won’t follow in his footsteps as a felon. “[None] of mine will ever have to feel the cold tight grip of a handcuff or grace the presence of a jail cell if I can help it,” he wrote. “Over my dead body! So if you can’t respect that you ain’t rocking with my movement, then f— you dog!” T.I.’s album No Mercy is slated to hit shelves December 7. What do you think about T.I.’s latest letter?
