Emails Between Ciara And Future’s Lawyers Reveal Details About $15 Million Libel Lawsuit Ruh Roh! Details from the legal documents filed in conjunction with Ciara’s $15 lawsuit against Future have gone public. Daily Mail Online published the explosive contents of a series of documents that led to the suit being filed at Fulton Superior Court in Georgia, which contain the chain of emails exchanged by lawyers acting for the former couple which include accusations of lying, missed drug tests and a communication breakdown sparked by Future’s use of ‘foul language’. The communications also accuse Future of turning down several opportunities to visit with his son and scheduling other visits when he was performing out of the country or out of state: The emails, which are part of a package of evidence by Ciara’s lawyer, Tanya Mitchell Graham, began on January 7 – just three days after Future posted a series of angry tweets . Immediately after, lawyers acting for Ciara, served the rapper with a cease and desist order and asked him to issue a statement retracting the comments. One email reads: ‘Additionally, Ms. Harris [Ciara] would require a retraction tweeted or released by Mr. Wilburn’s publicist, which states: ‘I regret the comments that I made in reference to Ciara via Twitter on January 4, 2016. ‘My statements were misleading. I apologize for using offensive language, and I also apologize for any inconvenience or ill will this may have caused.’ As you guys know already that apology never came. Instead, Daily Mail reveals that Future’s lawyer Jeff Smith accused Ciara and her lawyers of ‘artificially escalating the situation’. And on that note — while many people do seem to feel that Ciara has been super petty by filing, the emails help to explain her thought process: ‘It sounds like maybe you are of the opinion that it is okay to air parenting frustration on a social media forum,’ reads an email from Ciara’s lawyer dated January 7. ‘Ms. Harris has been equally as frustrated but she has not posted anything negative about Mr. Wilburn to her six million Twitter followers about how he refuses to agree to mutual random drug tests. ‘She hasn’t posted anything negative about Mr. Wilburn to her 9.8 million Instagram followers about how he asks for parenting time when he is booked to perform out of state or out of the country. ‘In fact, she has asked to keep these matters private for the sake of the minor child [Future Jr.], and Mr. Wilburn has refused. ‘It is not in the child’s best interests, no matter how frustrated his famous parents are or how you spin it, for parents to post negative comments about each other on social media. ‘Calling Ms. Harris a ‘b***h’ on Twitter was so insulting and disrespectful.’ We can definitely see how all this could be frustrating to Ciara and most parents would probably agree or at least be able to understand Ciara’s perspective in the matter. Federal Judge Denies Bobby Brown In $1.1 Million Lawsuit Against National Enquirer It’s all bad being Bobby Brown. The former R&B sensation was hit with the news that a federal court judge has dismissed his 1.1 million dollar lawsuit against the National Enquirer over an article stating he planned to re-marry Whitney Houston. All he had to do was follow the court’s order. Back in 2013, Brown sued The National Enquirer and the author of an article that ran shortly after Whitney Houston’s death which claimed the two had gotten back together and were planning to remarry. Brown’s argument is that the article defamed him by claiming the two had been planning a Vegas wedding prior to her death. Additionally, the article cited quotes, attributed to Brown, which purported that he told friends that not only could he have prevented Houston’s death, but that he broke up with his fiancee to reconcile with her and also that his fiancee was completely understanding. Brown and his fiancee vehemently state that all the “quotes” were LIES and claimed the magazine KNEW as much before publishing. The tabloid then fired back. The Enquirer openly admits they NEVER spoke to Brown about the information they published. However, they deny they did anything wrong and shoot down Brown’s accusations that they knowingly published false information. Shortly after their response, both parties reached a settlement and the singer dismissed them from the legal battle However, Brown continued his lawsuit against the writer of the article Derrick Handspike. Then earlier this year, Brown filed docs in the case demanding the court slap the writer of the article with a default judgement. Brown explained that he wants the court to order Handspike to pay up 1.18 million dollars for authoring the lies about him and Whitney Houston. Stating that due to the article, he lost 100k in contracts/offers alone. The other $1 million comes from damages that he has caused and will continue to cause Brown in the future due to the article being printed. On August 14th, the federal court judge came back with his decision in the case. The order explains that despite being warned numerous times to serve Handspike with the complaint … he didn’t follow the court’s order and blew off trying to serve the author for months. Further, the judge doesn’t believe Brown’s claim that the author was evading service due to him having no proof to back up his claim. The judge ordered the case to be closed and said he would not grant Brown any extensions to serve Handspike which means the case is dismissed forever and Brown was awarded nothing. Like we said, it’s all bad being Bobby Brown.
