It’s complicated. For weeks now Democrats and Republicans have been arguing over a stopgap spending bill that would fund government’s day-to-day activities. Attached to that bill is all sorts of political chess pieces that lead to serious conflict on both sides of the aisle. The Democrats want protection for DACA “dreamers” and the anti-immigrant GOP gang wants funding for Trump dumba$$ “wall” and border security. You see the problem. Last night was the last chance for both the donkeys and the elephants to get their s#!t together, but that didn’t happen. So, the shutdown is in full effect and here’s what that means. According to CNN , thousands of gov’t employees will go on furlough, they will not report to work and they will not be paid. When a shutdown occurred in 2013, there were about 850,000 employees affected. Lot of people not getting the money that feeds their families. Furlough also affects White House employees, over 1,000 of them, 659 of which are considered “essential” will still come to work, but only to send emails and correspond with parties to let them know they won’t be working. This also affects soldiers, even those in active combat, they are fighting for free at this point. No checks will be distributed to those who are risking their life for us as well as this inept body of federal officials. TSA will still get paid, but the employees may not. The mail man will still deliver your mail. HOWEVER, the one group of feds who will still work diligently with pay is the Special Counsel, headed by Robert Mueller, who is investigating all of Donald Trump’s shady shenanigans. Earlier this week, Kim Kardashian welcomed her third child . The baby girl was delivered via surrogate , so Kim won’t have to put in the usual effort to regain her “pre-baby body.” But that’s not stopping her from showing the world what kind of shape she’s in. We have no way of knowing when this pic was taken, but we like to think it was last night and that Kim was wearing that look of smug superiority because she knew she was about to drop an internet-breaking bombshell the next morning. In case you somehow haven’t heard, Kim revealed the name of her youngest daughter via her subscription-based app today. Within minutes of the announcement, ” Chicago West ” became a top-trending topic on Twitter. Yes, these days, there’s such a constant torrent of Kardashian news that Kim posing totally nude is barely a blip on her fans’ radar screens. As usual, Kim received a lot of compliments for her pic … and a whole lot of criticism. “You know your a mom right?” wrote one grammatically-challenged paragon of parenting. “Ok Kim it’s time for that to stop you have three beautiful kids now leave something to the imagination only your husband should be seeing you like that,” commented one stalwart Puritan who follows Kim Kardashian on Instagram for some reason. “Yes this is totally what all moms of newborns are doing with their time,” remarked one follower who is apparently unaware that Kim is very rich, and got that way by doing exactly this. Kim has been in the spotlight for more than a decade, and yet somehow, people who are interested enough in her life to follow her on social media are unaware that she enjoys occasionally posting a risqué photo. Even more mysterious is the fact that they feel the need to fill her in on details of her own life, such as the fact that she’s a mother of three. Kim has never been accused of neglecting or mistreating her children. In fact, those who know her best say she’s an incredibly devoted mom. And yet, when she chooses to show a little skin, she invariably gets slammed by people who apparently think they’re living superior lives. For nine years, Stacy London and Clinton Kelly starred on the fashion reality series, What Not To Wear . Sometimes, working closely with someone can lead to lifelong friendships. In others, though, it can lead to lifelong feuds. And, last November, Stacy London dramatically blocked Clinton Kelly on Twitter . But now Stacy London has made a long, vague post about forgiveness. Has she changed her tune about her former costar? Stacy London and Clinton Kelly spent a decade joined at the hip, because that was their job. They worked together, traveled together, and made appearances together both on and off of their show. In his 2017 memoir, I Hate Everyone, Except You, Clinton Kelly wrote of Stacy and of their relationship: ” I either adored her or despised her and never anything in between. ” That sounds like a lot of sibling relationships. And even like a few marriages. He also explained why he had always felt that way: ” We spent nearly 60 hours a week in captivity, rarely more than an arm’s length away from each other.” That’ll do it. “Trust me when I tell you that that is just too much time to spend with any other human being you didn’t choose of your own free will. ” That sounds like a fair description. When Stacy London dramatically blocked Clinton on Twitter, he shared it and suggested that he knew why, writing: “The tea is old. And I never spell tea unless I’m shook, which I’m not.” That’s a great line. He also used both tea and shook correctly as slang, which is really refreshing when we’re talking about a somewhat older white guy, though not surprising coming from Clinton Kelly. Now, in a lengthy post to Instagram, Stacy London wrote: “Last night, I was thinking about forgiveness. It’s very easy to say but sometimes not easy to do truthfully.” That’s true. Not everyone believes in forgiveness. Others believe that it’s theologically important, or good for their personal well-being. But it’s not easy, regardless. “If you’re like me when I’m hurt I can hold a grudge. I know the old adage: being angry or vengeful or hateful to someone because they’ve wronged you is like taking poison expecting the other person to die.” Many have said that, including the late, great Carrie Fisher. “Anger is much easier to cope with for me than sadness and pain. Being angry feels pro-active and empowering, like I’m in control of the situation.” She’s absolutely right. “But last night (and WHY last night, I’m not sure) it occurred to me that taking action like blocking people in order to feel some sense of control over other’s actions is a waste of my time.” She continues: “I can’t stop people from the way they behave. I can’t stop them from being angry with me, hurtful to me, or indifferent to me.” And she talks about how that, specifically, applies to social media. “I can block ex-friends and ex-lovers, people I feel wronged by, but to what end? For the most part, these people aren’t even looking at my accounts in the first place and even if they were, why would being able to see this highlight reel of my life matter in the slightest?” The connections to Clinton Kelly and how she famously blocked him are obvious. “Don’t get me wrong: truly hateful, sexist, misogynistic, xenophobic, homophobic, racist comments are simply not permitted on my accounts.” That is a very good boundary to set, and good advice for anyone to follow. “@luvvie taught me that social media is NOT a democracy, it’s a dictatorship only in the sense that if you write on MY page l have every right to delete or block you. Go write nasty shit on your own page.” But she makes it clear that (though she’s still not naming him) she’s not accusing Clinton Kelly of anything of the sort. “Those are not the people I’m talking about. I’m talking about those I’ve had trouble forgiving for one reason or another.” Still vague. “The problem is the more I hold on to my anger, the more I hurt, not them. And while feeling pain and sadness sucks, it’s necessary, NOT damaging.” You gotta look out for your own health, folks. “Forgiveness is something you give yourself to move on, to find peace, to let go. So I unblocked a bunch of people today. If this resonates, maybe you can too.” It’s not clear if Clinton Kelly has actually been unblocked. As more women courageously come forward and share their #MeToo stories, some once-beloved men have been unmasked as sex monsters. And then there’s Steven Seagal, whom no one has ever liked. Seagal’s been accused by Portia de Rossi and others of gross sexual harassment and misconduct. Now he is accused of rape. Recently, we have heard some deeply alarming stories about Steven Seagal . Lisa Guerrero spoke of her harrowing encounter with Seagal back in the ’90s. She describes having been invited to his house, but she insisted that the casting director accompany her. As uncomfortable as she felt while he appeared to wear only a robe while sitting, as if on a throne, in his living room, she can’t help but wonder how much worse the experience might have been had it only been the two of them. And then Portia de Rossi shared her horrible experience with him, also at his home, where a professional meeting went from bad to worse when Seagal allegedly “unzipped” in front of her. Dutch model Faviola Dadis revealed that she was lured under the guise of an audition to a hotel room, where Seagal allegedly began folding her breasts and crotch and where she describes his security team as having blocked her until she began making noise in an effort to get help. Horrifying. Among the several woman to accuse Steven Seagal of being a sex monster is 43-year-old model, Regina Simons. But she’s not talking about a narrow escape or being groped. She accuses Steven Seagal of rape . Regina worked as an extra on the 1994 film, On Deadly Ground . At the time, she was only 18 years old, and was a shy girl from a conservative Mormon background. The experience with Steven Seagal that she bravely describes to The Wrap is one that no one should ever have had to endure. She says that she was invited to the “wrap party” at Steven Seagal’s house, weeks after she filmed her scene. When she arrived, she was the only guest. “I asked him where is everyone and he said that they had already left.” And that, she describes, is when things went from weird to awful. “He took me into this room and then just closed the door and started kissing me.” Despicable. “He then took my clothes off and before I knew it he was on top of me, raping me…” That is as bad as it gets. “I wasn’t sexually active yet.” In case anyone is ignorant enough to ask why she didn’t try to fight off the man three times her size, she describes her experience in chilling detail. “People always talk about fight-or-flight. But no one talks about the freeze.” Freezing up is a normal preservation instinct! No sudden movements to flee or to fight can often reduce your chances of getting murdered. “The only way I’m able to describe it is I literally felt like I left my body.” That is classic dissociation. Do you ever just “go somewhere else” to avoid laughing or crying in socially inappropriate situations? Well, trauma survivors frequently dissociate during and then, later, after traumatic events. It’s a coping mechanism. “I think because of the situation I was completely caught off guard. Tears were coming down my face and I know that it hurt. He was three times my size.” “I was crying when he was on top of me.” It’s taken her a long time to come forward. “Even now, my 43-year-old mind knows how to process this and understand what a loving relationship is and what consensual sex is. And there was none of that.” She’s now a mother. Thinking back, though, she recalls making a beeline for the door as soon as she perceived that it was safe for her to go. “All I remember is him asking me if I needed any money.” Sickening. “I shook my head and ran towards my car. I cried the whole way home.” She’s reported this to the LAPD, and she’s not the only one. We won’t hold our breath for anyone to actually be held accountable, though. Well…. “I’m discussing designing my own island in Dubai at the World Islands,” Lohan said with a straight face, adding that it will be called “Lohan Island” and then joking: “I’m out Trump-ing Trump with the name Lohan.” Oh, God. Is Lindsay Lohan going to run for President in 2020? She is, isn’t she? And she’s going to win, isn’t she? Elsewhere in interview, the woman who thinks we’re too mean to Donald Trum p opened up about her family, her relationship status and her life in Dubai. Oh, and about that Mean Girls sequel chatter? Whenever people bring up past things I experiences and gone through, like jail, working at the morgue, which is actually really traumatizing stuff. Today marks the 28th birthday of twins Jana and John David Duggar. Of course, in a rare reversal for the family, it's the male who's being pushed to the margins, and the female who's getting all the attention. But don't worry, the reasons for that are completely sexist, in keeping with the Duggars' reputation. You see, Jana is still single . This is almost unheard of for a family in which girls are taught from a young age that procreation is their sole reason for being. So with every birthday, the moaning and hand-wringing from the Duggar faithful becomes more intense, as does the need to believe that Jana is in a secret courtship that will soon bear fruit … and by “fruit,” of course, we mean children.
