Caitlyn Jenner opens way up as the cover subject of the February/March issue of The Advocate. In the magazine’s lead interview, the transgender star says she knew she was doing the “right thing” by coming out as a woman… but that didn’t mean she didn’t have certain worries. “I’m so happy that the response has been good, I was afraid I would really lose something in my life,” she explains. “But my main concern was really only my kids. I don’t want to do anything to embarrass them.” Jenner, of course, revealed herself to be Caitlyn Jenner on the cover of Vanity Fair last spring and she’s been met with mostly universal praise ever since. But she’s had her occasional misstep, apologizing recently for the implication that her appearance is the most important thing. “There’s more to being a woman than hair and makeup,” she tells The Advocate. “I’ve been trying to study up on it. My publicists’ assistant told me to read this book [How to Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran]. It’s actually very good and very funny. What I realized, when going through this book, is how my experience is so different than what a normal woman’s would be growing up – that’s obvious. “The second chapter was about having your period. OK? I will never deal with that. “So there is so much in life that I need to learn about who I am and be authentic with myself. The Most Fascinating Person of 2015 , according to Barbara Walters, says Kim Kardashian has given her helpful advice in this regard. “Kimberly says, ‘If you do go out, you’ve got to rock it, baby!’ You cannot let [the paparazzi] get that picture. They’ll take a picture of you with no makeup on, lousy outfit – and they’ll use it forever. “You’ll never get rid of it. Kim’s very good at that stuff. It does take a little bit more work if you do go out. ‘You’ve got to at least look good, at least the best you can. But there’s more to life and womanhood than just that. And those are things I’m learning; I’m trying to read up on it. I’m trying to understand it because it’s all new to me.”
So sad… Stephen Hewett-Brown Dies After Being Crushed By An Elevator A 25-year-old New York man is making national headlines for his heroic act on New Year’s Eve. Stephen Hewett-Brown died on December 31 after he pushed a woman out of a faulty elevator before it fatally crushed him. The New York Post reports: A 25-year-old man wished “Happy New Year” to a woman just before he saved her life by shoving her from a faulty elevator that suddenly took a plunge — but the brave act cost him his own life, witnesses said. Stephen Hewett-Brown, 25, was in the crowded elevator at 131 Broome St. on Manhattan’s Lower East Side when Erudi Sanchez, 43, who lives in the building, stepped inside around 11:45 p.m. with her 10-year-old nephew to throw out trash. “When I got into the elevator, I felt it dropping and I thought my feet would get caught in the gap but the man pushed me out and said, ‘Happy New Year,’” Sanchez told The Post on Friday in Spanish. But suddenly, the malfunctioning elevator dropped farther and Brown’s body was caught between it and the third floor, Sanchez said. “I saw he was trapped and the elevator was crushing him. It was awful,” she said. The woman’s son-in-law Emanuel Coronado, 23, desperately tried to pull Brown out, but it was too late. “I feel bad I couldn’t save him. I tried to pull him out but the weight of the elevator was too heavy,” said Coronado, who was still shaken up by the horrific accident. He said a woman in the elevator who appeared to be with Brown was in hysterics as she witnessed him being mangled. “She was crying. He was saying, ‘I can’t breathe. Please help me,’” Coronado recalled. “To me, he is a hero. My mother-in-law might not be alive right now.” R.I.P. to this hero. Stephen’s family has since launched a GoFundMe for funeral costs. Beyonce In Twitter Backlash After Saartjie Baartman Movie Plans Leaked Beyonce’s plan to bring the story of Saartjie Baartman to the big screen is already being met with criticism. Some South Africans have taken to Twitter to blast the “Drunk In Love” singer’s apparent ambitions to write and star in a film about the life of Baartman, who was kidnapped from South Africa during Colonial times and put on display in Europe as a freak show attraction because of her large hips and behind. “@Beyonce you have no right to be playing Saartjie Baartman you know nothing about Africa, or South Africa!” Indigo Asaseyaa tweeted earlier today. “Can someone say appropriation please?” user African Eskimo wrote on Twitter. Baartman, who was billed as “Hottentot Venus,” later sued her handlers for being forced to perform against her will, but lost. She died in poverty at just 25-years-old. Baartman’s body was dissected and displayed in a Paris museum for 50 years, but was eventually repatriated to South Africa for a proper burial. Beyonce has previously acted in big budget films like “Cadillac Records” and “Austin Powers” and reportedly believes her Baartman film would force her critics to take her acting seriously and give her a shot at an Academy Award. But fans aren’t buying it, and some are claiming Bey is ignorant of Baartman and won’t do justice to such a sensitive story. “The only reason Beyonce wants to play Sara Baartman is just for publicity and not about the story of the woman,” Unathi Kwaza tweeted. “Not surprised.” Another user, Khoisan Drummer agreed: “She don’t even know what Hottentot is B…nah.” Hit the flip for more reactions:
A new report points fingers at Kanye West for straying from his marital bed. According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry , West is messing around with Savannah Winters, a model/dancer from Texas who performed on his tour. In the past, whenever Tyga would rap about sex with Kylie Jenner , folks would express their (very understandable) discomfort over the idea of a grown man spitting rhymes about statutory rape. These days, Kylie is 18, and her relationship with the Q-list rapper is finally legal, but Tyga's graphic verses about Kylie's vagina are somehow no less creepy. Yes, Tyga's latest single finds the 26-year-old dad still musing about his favorite topic: his teenage girlfriend's lady parts. “She gonna do it for a promise ring/ P–sy every night, remember what you promised me?” T-Raww raps, in what appears to be a reference to the massive diamond ring he bought Kylie for Christmas. Like we said, it's a little weird and gross, particularly since the girl he's talking about was in high school a few short months ago. But don't worry – Tyga shows his romantic side later on the track: “You my Grammy, all them other hoes nominees/ I was never honest to them other hoes, honestly/ Sex in the shower, see you wet and my diamonds clean.” Take notes, gentlemen: Comparing the woman in your life to a trophy and assuring her that she's your favorite hoe is as romantical as it gets. So perhaps that's why some listeners are so confused by the song's “chorus” (read: a phrase that Tyga repeatedly mumbles, almost in time to the beat) that appears to be about a troubled relationship. Is Kylie the girl who's “gone too far”? We'll leave question that up to future generations of Tyga scholars. All we know for sure is that T-Raww apparently plans to continue writing songs about barely legal sex acts. Hopefully someone will send Jared Fogle a copy of his latest mixtape.
