So whatever excuse you had for not voting today looks pretty bad right now! Driving her own dayum self to the hospital, Galicia Malone was determined to make sure she voted for the first time…even if her contractions were only FIVE minutes apart! According to Yahoo : Galicia Malone’s contractions were five minutes apart when she arrived at her polling place in Cook County, Illinois, this morning, but that didn’t stop her from studying the ballot carefully and making sure her vote counted. “I was just trying to read and breathe, read and breathe,” the 21-year-old mom-to-be told WBBM Newsradio. “That’s what I kept telling myself, ‘Read and breathe, read and breathe’.” Pregnant with her first child, Malone went into labor four days early. Her water had already broken when she arrived at the aptly named New Life Celebration Church near Chicago around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. But even hard labor wasn’t enough to stop her from voting in her first presidential election. “I never voted before so this made a major difference in my life,” she told WBBM Newsradio. “And I wanted this to be a stepping-stone for my daughter.” She went into labor around 3 a.m., she said, but refused to go to the hospital until after the polls opened. As she left her polling place, she was holding her lower back and smiling widely. She drove herself to South Suburban Hospital. “The pains are pretty steady, but my doctor says to think of it as getting ready to give life,” she told My Fox Chicago. “This is my first baby, a girl, and I wanted to make a good impression. I want to have a story to tell her.” Malone, who lives in the Chicago suburb of Dalton, said that even though she is against abortion, she believes that women have the right to make their own health-related decisions, so she cast her vote this morning for President Barack Obama. “I just agree with more of his policies than with Romney’s,” she said. “I grew up on Sesame Street and PBS,” she added. “He wants to cut that. To cast Sergeant Calhoun, the no-nonsense video game heroine with a heart in Wreck-It Ralph , director Rich Moore looked no further than Hollywood’s favorite ball-busting dynamite gal: Jane Lynch . Alongside John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and a cast of fellow character actors and comic veterans, Lynch brings Calhoun to life with pathos and dimension, not to mention a burning passion for blasting evil space bugs into pixelated oblivion. Movieline sat down with Lynch to talk Wreck-It Ralph , the fun of bringing Calhoun to life, and how the film’s deeper themes of self-determination and destiny resonated with the once-aspiring actress who left home to pursue her dreams. But first, the whip-smart Glee fave spitballed an impromptu back story for her space warrior alter ego, known in the film only as Sergeant Calhoun… Only after watching the movie did I learn that your character’s full name is Sergeant Tamora Jean Calhoun. How much of a life before the game within the movie did you imagine for her? Tamora Jean. Tammy Jean! Get out of town. I’m going to write a whole story about her right now: She grew up as Tammy Jean in Alabama, and when she joined the military right after high school she said, “I’m no longer Tammy Jean – I’m not even Tamora Jean. I’m just Calhoun !” You know, there was a back story for my character that is revealed in the film; she was in love, and her husband-to-be was killed by the Cy-Bugs. Cy-Bugs! Her mortal enemy ! I wasn’t sure if anyone involved had seen MacGruber , but MacGruber shared a similar fate. With Will Forte? I love him. I wonder if we ripped it off from him… Did it mean a lot to you to be a part of a Disney film like this? How did you get the call to voice Calhoun? It was huge working with Disney – I mean, to be in a Disney animated film was so preposterous it wasn’t even on my bucket list. So that was a huge thing. Then John Lasseter, who heads up Disney Animation these days, invited me and Jack [McBrayer] and Sarah [Silverman] and a bunch of other great character actors to fly up to San Francisco about two and a half years ago to do a table read. It was like a field trip, we all met at the airport and jumped on a plane, then jumped on a bus… We spent the day with John and within six months we were recording here in L.A. They showed us a rough rendering of our characters and everything involved; Richard, our director, has been working on this for four years. He’s been in a little cave literally for four years and is just now seeing the light of day. Researching arcade games must have been more fun than your average movie prep work. I learned a lot about this world because I’m not a gamer, and am still not a gamer. But the whole world of the arcade, that resonates with a lot of kids. It’s geared toward children of today who know games like Call of Duty, which Hero’s Duty is based on, but there’s a lot more for the now-grown adults who played 8-bit games as children decades ago. Were those games in your life at all when you were a kid? Not a lot. I think I played Pac-Man a couple of times and I played Asteroids in college, but not obsessively or anything. Just at the bar. Your character is, interestingly enough, one of the only representations in Wreck-It Ralph of modern gaming – she’s the heroine of a first-person shooter called Hero’s Duty , and one of the sole female characters in this male-dominated world. But she’s also got a soft core inside that Jack’s character, Fix-It Felix, is able to find . He fixes my heart! And he doesn’t even need to use his magic hammer. No, just by looking at me with the honey glow. “Well, I’m getting the honey glow!” You two have so many great lines; were they all written beforehand or did you slide in some improvisation? They were all written, so I can’t take credit for them. We did improvise a little bit because I got to work with Jack in the sessions, but not a lot, but that always brings the chemistry element into it. Rich really loved that and the stuff we did in those sessions, he used it all. My favorite Calhoun line is “Flattery doesn’t charge these batteries.” I might try to use that in real life, maybe in a bar situation. Go for it! [Laughs] The big theme in this film for Ralph is that he’s turning 30 years old, facing a life crisis. He’s turning 30! I’d never looked at it that way – I’ve been going into adulthood, have been doing the same thing for 30 years and now I’ve got to shake it up. Wondering if you’re on the right path in life, or if that’s even something you can change – is that something you feel you can relate to? Oh, yeah. More about when you’re 20 and stuff like that, but when you’re going into 30 there’s a certain set of expectations that you should be into your adult life now, you should be into your purpose, and a lot of people aren’t. And, you know – should’ve, would’ve. Who knows when the right time is for that? But I think Ralph is at a point where he’s been doing the same thing over and over for years, how many times a day, countless times a day, and he’s not getting any appreciation for it. He’s not enjoying it. He’s not getting invited to any of the parties; he sleeps in the garbage dump. It’s awful. So he says, “You know what? I’m not going to do this anymore.” He thinks being a hero is about getting a medal, but he finds out that being a hero is all about his relationships. He meets Vanellope and cares about her and champions her, and he comes back to where he started, like Tennyson says, and it’s like he’s seeing it for the very first time. Everybody appreciates him now because when he left the game fell apart; he’s like the prodigal son. He takes pride in his work and he knows it’s not about a medal. I love the end of the movie; I burst into tears at that moment. Have you had any Ralph-like moments of revelation in your own life? Getting out of my hometown; going to college was what everybody did, but when I went to graduate school I didn’t have any support for that. Wanting to be an actress, it was like, find something you can do and learn to type. I got offered a scholarship to Cornell to go to graduate school and although my parents were like, “Wow! That’s really great,” they were like, “Theater? Theater ?” I was like, I’m going to do it anyway. I hopped on a train and went to Ithaca, New York. I worked to make money and was given a fellowship, and I taught a class in order to make money, but I did it on my own. What did you teach? Acting. It was part of my fellowship. I think we made $120 a week or something, but it was enough. It was enough in those days, anyway, to pay my rent and keep me in beer and coffee. The essentials! So I think we all have those things where we go, you know what – I’m not getting a lot of support here for this, but I just have to go. I have to go do what I need to do, and I have to take the chance. I can’t take one more day of being in the doldrums because that hurts too much. That’s what I love about this film; these are games, but they’re such metaphors for life. You’re playing your game, but you can “jump” your game. My name is Kimia and this is My Bieber Experience. I went to the Staples Center concert on October 3, 2012 and it ended up being the best day in my life. Meeting Justin Bieber makes you feel like you’re dreaming, it’s absolutely surreal. He treated me like I was one of his friends, rather than just another fan he was forced to take a picture with. When I hugged him, I knew I had the world in my arms. He’s truly the sweetest guy I’ve ever met. He called me words “love” and “sweetheart.” When he told me he loved me while he was holding my hand, I felt like my life was complete. This man is honestly nothing but perfect. Meeting Justin Bieber not only meant I had the chance to stand next to my inspiration, but I had the chance to prove to myself that I AM capable of fulfilling my dreams. It was honestly a life changing experience that every belieber deserves. EVERY BELIEBER DESERVES TO MEET JUSTIN BIEBER. I know sometimes it feels like it’s never going to happen, trust me. In my 5 years of waiting, I felt that way several times, but I was motivated to keep on trying and I remained hard working and dedicated. Believe in your dreams and NEVER SAY NEVER. It’s been a Cruel Fall so far in the Northeast, but Kanye West is already looking ahead to Winter. The rapper has followed up his Cruel Summer mix tape with a Cruel Winter short. The film, directed by Austin Christianson for West’s production Donda shows bare trees and trembling branches with other ghoulish accoutrement. The footage also includes a speech by George H.W. Bush. The trailer suggests a feature on the way, but does not reveal any release date – only Coming Soon . Last time around, West’s GOOD Music label released its Cruel Summer compilation. West then traveled to Cannes to debut his 30-minute short titled Cruel Summer . West directed that film himself, with shots of Kid Cudi in the in the Gulf state of Qatar, using songs by Big Sean, John Legend, Raekwon and a remix of Coldplay’s Paradise . The film has not had a wide release. Rapper Q-Tip (a GOOD artist) hinted about the Cruel Winter album last month. “If there’s a Cruel Summer then there’s got to be a Cruel Winter, right?” he told MTV News. “That’s all I’m saying.” [Source: The Guardian ]

Is Wreck-It Ralph a video game flick for kids, or the saga of a destructive 30-year-old loner on an existential journey of rediscovery? We put the bigger questions to John C. Reilly , whose smash-happy villain Wreck-It Ralph goes game-jumping through his arcade world in search of his inner hero — crashing a first-person shooter and a candy-colored racing game in the process — in the Disney animated adventure. There’s a lot for children to enjoy in Wreck-It Ralph , but adults may find even more to grasp onto in Ralph’s story – he’s basically just turned 30, is having an existential crisis, unsure of his destiny and his job and what he’s supposed to be doing with his life. It’s no accident that Disney is over the moon with the age range of people that are enjoying the movie already. Yeah – there are some deep things said in the movie, in a very fun, video game world kind of way. The kids watching it may not understand some of these life crises for a few decades. They will one day! Was that something you had in mind as you gave voice to Ralph? Did you see him as a 30-year-old in crisis? I wasn’t so focused on the time span of it, and I wasn’t thinking of it so much as a mid-life crisis or existential crisis kind of thing. It was much more emotional, and it was immediate, too – “Why doesn’t anyone like me?” “Because you smash things!” I know, but that’s just what I do for a living! Give me a break! To me, the thing I was most conscious of was someone in the beginning of the story who doesn’t know himself, and he can’t accept who he is, because he doesn’t really know who he is. That’s one of the things that the journey he goes on gives him when he’s put into these tight spots and is called upon to be something bigger – he rises to the challenge and learns who he is, and accepts who he is. And then everything’s fine! Don’t give away the ending! Well… I was talking about people in general. But everything might be fine in the movie. Who knows? Do you relate to Ralph’s quandary of being defined by the job that he does? Yeah. I think that’s true – I noticed, working in France, that’s just not something people do. “What do you do?” That’s not the first thing they ask you at a party. I can’t remember what is the first thing they ask, but they’re a lot more private and people don’t share personal information quite so readily there, for whatever reason, they’re a little more formal. But here the first thing anyone asks is “What do you do?” So that’s the first bit of information where people start to judge you or size you up. That’s Ralph’s problem, that everyone sees him as what he does. In your own life and career have you felt that similar feeling of being typecast, or thought of in a way that you wanted to break out of? Every time I did, I did something else. It doesn’t happen very often. But I’ve done a lot of different stuff over the years and people are always surprised at what I end up in. I’m sure they’ll be surprised to see me in this. You had an interesting start to your career, with Brian De Palma. Casualties of War ! Do you remember that experience vividly still? Yes, of course! It was a big, life-changing experience. I’d never been on an airplane before, I’d never been out of the Midwest before, I’d never been in a movie before. I met my wife on that movie. There were a lot of big changes. All these characters we meet, the hundreds or thousands who exist in Ralph’s world from his game and the other games connected to his via power lines, are just the characters within this one arcade. Right. So here’s the big question: If there are, say, hundreds or thousands of similar arcades out in world beyond the confines of Litwak’s Family Fun Center, does that mean there are potentially many more Ralphs out there? And are they all going through the same existential journey at the same time, in their respective arcades? Duplicate Ralphs?! Multiple souls, maybe? What’s going on here? Wow . I never even thought about that. That’s surprising, after three days of a press junket, to think about that for the first time. I don’t know! Are they all experiencing the same thing at the same time, or is it a Matrix -like situation? This is the next creative leap. The next leap of imagination that people can make after they see the movie. The first one is like, what is it like to be inside a video game, to be a video game character – that could be a sequel, or something. And could you go into the surge protector and into the electricity network… That could be the next destination. I think you’re cooking up a sequel here! Meanwhile, there’s a moment in the film when Ralph fantasizes about being the toast of the town, and there’s a shot of him on the disco floor. Was that a nod to Boogie Nights ‘s Reed Rothchild in some way? It wasn’t a nod on my part, because I had nothing to do with that. Unless there was dialogue in the scene, I most likely wasn’t even aware of it. What were you most surprised by when you watched the film, having taken part in just that one aspect of it? The level of detail and how many people are in those scenes. The racing scenes in the candy world, it’s insane the amount of work that went into that. I was also surprised at how funny Jane [Lynch] and Jack McBrayer’s scenes were, because I literally didn’t see any of it, I didn’t even see rough cuts of those. You were paired in the recording booths together with Sarah Silverman, as Jane and Jack were. What’s your fondest memory from recording with her? She’s awfully fun to be around, she’s a real sweetheart and very funny so it was always fun to work with her. The ‘doody’ line gets a big laugh in the film. There were probably six more that she had that were not in the movie! But I like the scene where I have to break her heart, because Sarah was really good in that dramatic scene. That was kind of traumatic actually, that day – for both of us. We’re both right there recording it and she’s screaming, “No, Ralph!” It was a pretty heavy day. Follow Jen Yamato on Twitter . Should Chris Brown Still Face Probation If Rihanna Has Decided To Date Him Again? Yesterday, Chris Brown had yet another day in court to update the judge on the status of his community service activities and to evaluate his compliance with his 5-year probation sentence received as punishment for the felony assault charge he faced after delivering a brutal beat-down to his then girlfriend Rihanna back in 2009. via Huffington Post A judge on Thursday ordered Chris Brown to remain on supervised probation and make another court appearance after he completes an overseas tour. Brown remains on supervised probation for felony assault for an attack on Rihanna in 2009. He is scheduled to begin a tour that spans several countries in Europe and South Africa on Nov. 14. On the upside, in the almost 4 years since the incident occurred, Breezy has completed countless hours of community service , checked in regularly with his probation officers and at his court hearings, and has even “reconciled” with the victim of his vicious attack. Brown “appears to be making a sincere effort to comply with terms and conditions of probation,” a probation officer wrote in a report prepared for Thursday’s hearing. The report recommended that Brown remain on probation under the same conditions he has abided by since pleading guilty to the attack on the eve of the Grammy awards. Brown appeared at the hearing along with his mother and attorney Mark Geragos. He did not speak during the proceedings, and when he attempted to at one point during discussions of his schedule, Geragos joked, “I don’t dance, you don’t talk.” Brown is scheduled to return to court Jan. 17. However, on the downside of things, the former blonde-haired bad boy has also thrown public temper tantrums, lashed out publicly at businesses and the media for not supporting him , and even failed a drug test during the course of his probation. Not to mention becoming the poster child for a PR nightmare with his repeated questionable decision-making, such as choosing to dress as a terrorist for Halloween. Despite his troubled past and sketchy present persona, some feel that Rih-Rih’s choice to reunite with her lovesick loverboy, in addition to her letting the world know that she has forgiven him and still considers him “the love of her life,” should exempt him from continuing to face legal consequences for committing a crime against someone who now welcomes him into her life….and her bed….on the regular. So we think it’s time to address the 50,000 pound, bright pink elephant in the room and see what you think. What say you Bossipers? Should Breezy still have to face the music for puttin them paws on Rih-Rih in 2009, or is it all null and void since she’s back to letting him chop her down and feel her up?

I never thought I would be writing my second Bieber experience. My unexpected Bieber experience took place in Vancouver, October 10th 2012 . I knew all along that Justin was going to perform in Vancouver. Unfortunately, the tickets went on sale the same time as graduation and prom. I didn’t have a job at that time and my mom already spent so much money on my prom dress and other graduation fees. The savings I had were not enough to get me a ticket, even the cheapest one. My friend who I met 2 years ago in Justin’s MY WORLD concert, Amber, were in the same position as me. We went on Craigslist and StubHub but the tickets were so overpriced. Although we didn’t have any tickets, we decided to go to the arena to show our support. About 2 weeks before the concert, Amber and I started to feel bugged and bummed that we didn’t have tickets. We started to come up with a plan so we could get tickets. We entered every radio contest; called in to radio stations at 8. We were very hopeful at first, but then we started losing every contest. I almost lost hope. Although Amber and I live so far away from each other, we met up and discussed what we should do. To make us stand out, we decided to make “BELIEVE” headbands and a poster inspired by Carly Rae’s “Call Me Maybe” lyrics — “ Hey, Justin & Carly. We know this is crazy. We don’t have tickets, could you help us out maybe?” Knowing our chance to get tickets was slim, we started to tweet Justin, Scooter, Allison, Alfredo, Kenny, and Dan letting them know that we’ll be outside the arena 5 hours early holding a big poster. On the 10th, which was the day of the concert, I went to the arena with Amber right after school and got there at 1PM. We stood near the tour busses with other excited Beliebers. With excitement, we put on our headbands and put out our poster. We started singing and chanting hoping Justin would come out and greet us. All of the sudden, Dan came out. The crowd went crazy. Dan seriously is the sweetest. He went to the other side and spent almost an hour talking to fans, signing some stuffs, and taking pictures with fans. My side was getting impatient so we started singing the Dan Kanter Song. Finally he came to us. He took his time to talk to each one of us. Amber and I took picture with him. He even signed my phone case! Amber and I showed him our sign, he read it 3 times then said “awww”. We asked them if he had extra tickets with him, but he didn’t. We saw Allison, I called her name and she waved at me. We were going to ask her to read our sign, but she looked so stressed. After spending more than an hour talking to the fans outside, around 4 PM he went back inside the arena. I was so hungry at that time because I hadn’t had my lunch yet. So Amber & I went to Starbucks to get something to eat. We went back to the arena at 4:45 PM hoping to catch a glimpse of Justin. When we got there, we found out The Beat 94.5 was holding a contest. We were asked to tweet them a certain sentence followed by #BeatBelieber. I went on full force and tweeted them 150 times until I reached tweet limit… While waiting for the announcement, we hung out at The Beat tent. Johnny and Ami, the hosts of The Beat 94.5, wanted to take picture with us and our awesome sign, so we obviously did. Then he went on twitter, tweeted “Best. Sign. Ever” with our picture attached. Finally, at 5PM the Beat announced the winner, it wasn’t me or Amber. My heart literally broke into pieces. That was the last contest of the day. And I lost. I cried. We didn’t know what to do, so we decided to walk around the arena hoping for a miracle to happen. After walking around the arena trying to find Justin’s crew, we went back to where we stood, near the tour busses. It was getting cold, like really cold. I was shivering. Around 6 PM, people started to leave where I was standing. At 7 PM, everyone who got tickets already went in and there were about 10 of us left. Dedicated enough to keep standing outside the arena. We knew Justin was not going to come out, but we didn’t want to leave the arena. We ended up talking to the security guard, he was really nice. At 7:23, Justin tweeted “about to see my fans…my beliebers…and it’s gonna BE ALRIGHT. #showtime #CANADA”. My heart sank. What came across my mind as I was reading his tweet was I’m not gonna get in, it’s too late, Justin is about to come on stage. Amber & I were so close to giving up. We were hopeless. We were so disappointed. But then, Allison came out. She looked less stressed. She went to talk to this group of people (2 little girls and their mom) who apparently are the boss’ family, I’m not sure. I saw her giving them something. I didn’t think she was giving out tickets because when she came out, she was empty handed, didn’t hold anything. Then, she started to walk towards us. Everyone was pushing, the gate almost fell. Allison was like, “Girls, stop! Stop!” We literally stopped doing whatever we were doing. Dead silence. I was shaking so much, not because I was cold, I WAS SO NERVOUS. And then she talked to the security guard. From where I was standing, it looked like Allison asked the security guard something. The security guard answered, then pointed at us — AMBER AND I. She read our sign, then laughed. She came up to us and SHE HANDED ME A TICKET. I SAID THANK YOU, AT LEAST I THINK I DID. THEN, SHE GAVE AMBER A TICKET. After that, everything just went black. I didn’t remember what happened afterwards. My mind went blank. I broke down into tears, didn’t even bother to look at which row we are in. Then I heard Amber said ,”It’s floor tickets, Angela! IT’S FLOOR TICKETS!” My body suddenly became weak, I had to sit on the sidewalk and cried even more. When we got inside the arena, when I saw the stage, when I saw all the seats, I started crying again. I was a mess. We found out we were sitting in ROW 19, 2 rows away from the catwalk. Our hard work paid off. Me and Amber were looking at each other, couldn’t believe what just happened to us. It was so surreal. Then Justin came out on stage in wings, the moment I was waiting for. I was so close to him, it felt like as if I met him. He looked so flawless and angelic. He was glowing and his skin looked so soft. He was and always is PERFECT. Since it was the first Canadian concert, of course he sang “O Canada” together with us. He even said he loved the Canucks! The concert was BEYOND AMAZING. It was worth the wait. Justin and the crew took it to another level. Justin’s voice was OMG SO BEAUTIFUL. He was smiling a lot. You can tell he sings with lots of passion. I sang my heart out. I felt so connected to him. Too bad the concert had to end. He closed the show by singing “Baby”. I had the BEST TIME of my life. So blessed, so thankful. I will never forget the warm feeling I had after the concert ended. He blew my mind. It was the night that I will never forget. It was an experience that couldn’t be bought. To everyone reading this, let me tell you something, NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS. If you BELIEVE in it and WORK HARD for it, it will come true . I proved it. Thank you to everyone, especially Justin, Dan, Allison, and the rest of the crew. Justin & the crew are the best people on Earth. I hope you guys had fun in Vancouver! Their relationship is still new, but insiders say the single mom is “smitten.” “She really likes him!
